I’m trying to remember the poster in The Handmaid’s Tale forum who insisted June shouldn’t escape from Gilead (a life a constant rape and possible maiming/death) with her baby because “you can’t drive a baby without a car seat” when people pointed out that a car seat was the least of her problems (compared to being raped and having her child stolen) they said that they wouldn’t want to risk the baby’s life and were sticking to that. Ummmm.

I think the photo of Felicity is cute, and babies do tend to slide down. The Duggars do plenty of things to endanger their children, but I don’t think Jinger and Jeremy will take Felicity’s safety lightly.

I had 2 non-NICU babies and also had to bring in the car seat and prove they could be strapped in correctly before discharge.

We just had a baby 7 weeks ago and we had to bring in the carseat before we could leave. My husband and I had to ask our nurse how to strap her in haha.

Felicity is a cutie. I hope she gets to go to a real school.

Europe here... Kids have to use car seats/boosters until they are 135cm tall. Car's seatbelt has to fit ok to them, not going over their neck/head.

I also hate those big bows on girls, and don't see the point. Yes, it' s to look cute. But she is still a baby. Let it go a bit, there will be time for fancy dresses and bows

From what I saw it looked like Felicity was really scrunched down and her chin was practically on her chest. Maybe it was a bad angle, but it looked like an uncomfortable position. I wonder if people were commenting on that as opposed to the harness.

I doubt I’d wake my sleeping baby to haul her upright either... how exactly do you control where a seemingly boneless little bundle goes?  I have no children, so I confess maybe you’re supposed to torment your little sleeper and rearrange them regularly.  I feel my own sleep is sacrosanct, lol.

1987: The hospital gave new parents a car seat for free. It had a level on the side to know it was in the correct position.

I didn’t see the comments on the picture of Felicity. I do know people go off on tangents on Twitter, and Instagram posts of the Duggars in general. Comments regarding Josh, and much more are made when the original post has nothing to do with him, and the the posters fight between themselves. So, who knows why they turned the comments off.

Unless they keep turning off the option to comment ? Seems Jinger has a thinner skin than her sisters, or maybe just a lower tolerance for taking crap from strangers on the Internet.

Or they actually read the comments. Many post and don’t bother.

The baby looked okay to me in the pics.  They’re new parents.  What do people expect from them? All the stories here about the way things were done to care for babies in the past is a reminder that sometimes we need to chill the hell out.  Damn, the commenters acted like she was sleeping on her stomach in a crib full of blankets and stuffed animals.  Jeez!  And despite all the poor decisions the Duggar kids (notice I didn’t say MOTY and her supine infant feeding) may or will make, and Jinger’s shitty upbringing, I don’t think she would knowingly harm her baby.  Even Jill and her carseat-stroller o’ death wouldn’t do those things if she thought they were dangerous. They might not have issue with the Pearl method, but suffocating a baby in carseat is a bit much, even for them.  I don’t care for their beliefs, but I wouldn’t pick on a new mom and dad who are probably already nervous.  They deserve to enjoy their new baby like anyone else.  Granted, if you don’t post it, people can’t comment, but it was still unnecessary.

Too bad Jinger was raised to be meek and passive, and Jeremy’s too image-conscious to go off on the commenters. I would have told them to go f*** themselves and the horse they rode in on.  Until you raise the kid, change the diapers, and get up in the middle of the night, keep your parenting advice to yourself! Had the comment come from a respected pediatrician, I would take it as advice.  Coming from shitty, helicopter parents who probably turn their noses up at bottle fed babies, but don’t bother to teach their children manners, kindness, or that the world doesn’t revolve around them, and I’m not interested.

Okay, rant over, but people need to mind their own business.  Somewhere, some poor child may be abused or in danger, but little Felicity secured in her carseat, in the presence of at least one adult, looking clean, content, and dressed in a cute outfit and headband is not it.

TA: No shade to anyone here who commented on the baby in the carseat.  It’s those damn Instagrammers and their “perfect” lives. ? Let the people enjoy their new baby and make mistakes and learn like the rest of us.

I wish I could give your post 1000 ❤️‘s!

Great post.  Felicity looked fine to me.  OK, the bow was a bit much, but it's not like JinJer left her by herself, to rip it off her head and stick it in her mouth.

She's a beautiful baby.  I'd guess that almost everyone posting here had a less than perfect upbringing (me), and many of us weren't perfect parents ourselves (me again.)

Social media IMO pretty much sucks, and I don't pay it much attention.  Keyboard warriors abound.  It's like the saying about opinions, and how everyone's got one.

I wonder if Jinger is going to stop posting herself and her baby. There are tons of comments on this post telling her she looks miserable and speculating that she has PPD. She has already deleted tons of them.

Felicity's a sweetheart.

As far as the comments, she either needs to turn them off or stop reading them. Social media is what it is. If you're going to put yourself out there, you have to be prepared for the shitstorm of uninformed opinions.

My mind is running in a similarly dangerous direction. Jinger is under no obligation to continue to live life in front of millions. If Jeremy actually wants to be a parish pastor or a teacher — and not a mega church maven with big tv and SM presence — then they could step off the grimy Duggar hamster wheel of self-promotion and, y'know, live life quietly.

Pessimistically, I think Jeremy wants to be a stah in popular evangelicalism and Jinger’s too conditioned to saying, “your will be done, lord & master” and they’re going to continue on their current path.

I think that one of the mistakes that we often make on this board is to assume that the Duggar daughters have a lot of experience and knowledge about child care. Despite the fact that they were sister-moms for many years, they were children. We don't expect children to be child care experts. They also learned what they do know from J'chelle -- who I think most of us agree is a pretty awful mother. They were not raised to question anything that they know -- ever. If Jeremy and Jinger actually listened to the instructor and made an effort to put their daughter into the car seat correctly, they are already doing a lot better than I would have expected of any of the Duggar spawn.

well said!  i hadn't given them credit for being 'children'; i mean i knew it but i just didn't think about it when watching them parent the way they were parented. everyone has a breaking in period as a first timer.

Jinger's snuggle time pic looks like so many I see on SM - a person taking a selfie without looking at their phone. IMO, photos like those look very unnatural, as I think this photo does.

It's funny y'all are saying Jinger looks like Joy and I think Felicity looks a little like Gideon.

I think she looks like every tired mother of a newborn I've ever seen. Having said that, whatever filter she chose for this shot has me seriously worried she is growing a beard. There is some serious 5 o'clock shadow happening on her jaw.

I agree. It's not a flattering photo. They are usually so careful about managing their SM that I'm surprised by this.

When Jinger got married, I was hoping that she would stay off of social media.  The Duggar girls get a lot of unfair criticism due to the fact that they were unfortunate enough to be born Duggars.  Throw in Mommy shamers and it’s a different can of worms.  Snark is fine to an extent, but people are leaving comments just for the sake of being nasty.  Of all the Duggars, her only offense at this point is existing.

Jinger seems to be more sensitive and self conscious than her sisters are.  Remember her toast at Jessa’s rehearsal dinner about feeing unworthy of Jessa’s love and friendship? Social media is dangerous for people who already feel inadequate and latch onto stronger people for validation.

Remember that MeChelle would feed her children while laying down. That truly bothered me! I would just have them in my arms feeding them when they were too small to sit in a highchair.

I have higher hopes for Jinger.

Aside from the ones who went to Texas for the birth, I don't think the rest of the family has met her either. Jinger hasn't traveled home as far as I know.

Felicity looks like Si and Gideon in that picture. She's taking after Jinger a lot more than I originally thought.

But isn't it August in Texas? Why is Felicity all bundled up like it's February? Am I missing something here?

I was wondering the same thing. I've always gotten overheated easily. According to my relatives, I would try to tear off heavy clothing in the winter even as a very small child and if I couldn't tear it off I'd scream and holler "like a panther" until someone got me out of the hated clothing. I can only imagine how I'd have been tearing at something like that in a Texas summer.

If she was inside, it's possible they keep the air conditioning at "walk-in freezer" levels and the bundling makes sense.

None of the IG pics posted here are appearing on my screen.  It’s just completely white where the pictures should be.  Does anyone know what the problem could be?  TY in advance for any help! ?

Lmfaooo, Jeremy totally posted that to show off Jinger's snapback game.

And perhaps to counter all the fools that diagnosed her with PPD after she posted the tired new Mom selfie sans makeup.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but Pediatricians are not trained in car seat safety. They may know the basic's, but they're not car seat technicians who have indepth training. Our Pediatrician always referred to the Fire Department or Police Station for anything beyond the AAP recommendations. And there were a few car seat techs commenting, I think they got buried though.

Post baby when your hormones are going crazy, you can definitely grow hair in areas you never did before. I think it's the filter but it's possible there is a hair or two.

Diagnosing PPD from a picture is disgusting and those who are doing it on her instagram should be ashamed of themselves!

The soloist has some talent!

Next lesson, focus on singing and not screaming. I liked the boy in the middle though.

Summer Saturdays? More like "Jinger's already got her body back, bitchez!!!!!111"

She looks good!

According to the comments, Jilly Muffin hasn’t met Felicity yet.

Maybe it's a preference but I never, ever used infant mittens. I feel bad Lissy is stuck with them. I love her outfit. For the bundling questions, until about 3 months old infants can't self-regulate their temps so if she's in the a/c she's dressed appropriately.
