Lonesome Rhodes February 25, 2019 Share February 25, 2019 What gorgeous music was played for the memorium. While sad, I always feel ennobled with the wonderful pictures of the honorees. We really can be wondrous creatures. No man ever looked better and more sexy, including Cary Grant, than Burt Reynolds in that famous shot from Smokey and the Bandit which was just used. It's the imp in him that elevates it to ultimate status, imo. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/33299-the-annual-academy-awards-general-discussion/page/155/#findComment-5080805
irisheyes February 25, 2019 Share February 25, 2019 I have to give the Academy credit. I think when they couldn’t find a host, they were forced to figure out how to revamp the entire show, and, so far, I’ve been really impressed. I really like having the orchestra play over the In Memoriam rather than a singer who they’ll cut to every 30 seconds. This was about remembering, not some overwrought singing. Plus, the show doesn’t feel like it’s gotten bogged down in stupid stunts. (I love you, Ellen, but the pizza delivery and selfie stuff was stupid). This show has moved along, and they may be done early! 23 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/33299-the-annual-academy-awards-general-discussion/page/155/#findComment-5080806
Crs97 February 25, 2019 Share February 25, 2019 The John Williams song was beautiful and should be used every year. I hated when they would get a singer, and we would keep having to cut to him/her rather than to the photos of the people we were supposed to be honoring. This was perfect. 13 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/33299-the-annual-academy-awards-general-discussion/page/155/#findComment-5080807
