I couldn't really get into it, and it was too violent for my taste (though admittedly I'm hypersensitive to TV violence) but I watched it all the way through just for the performances. The actors are great.

Le sigh......I have realized due to my RH franchise addiction, I have changed.  You see in the past, when going on vacation, packing was easy.  The night before, grab the suitcase, throw in a ratio of 1 pair of tshirts and shorts per 2 days of vacation, pair of sensible shoes and a bathing suit.  Done!

Not anymore.  I don't go until November and here are the changes.

  • I have outfits.
  • I not only have "outfits", I have several outfits.  For EACH day.
  • I picked my outfits out with a stylist.  Yes, she's 10, but she rocks everything she wears.  And her fee is nail polish color I am tired of.
  • There is more than one pair of shoes.
  • I have taken pictures of myself in said outfits. Standing AND sitting.  I pay attention in the reunion threads. Yes I do.

I need a RH intervention.......

Have you tested these outfits, though?  Done dry runs for elegance in motion & anti- crotch-shots by diving into a nearby bush? :)

No!  I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow.

I don't have to worry about inadvertently showing the world my goods though.

I?  Always wear panties.

Because in the grand scheme of embarrassment, I choose pantylines over pantiless.

No one's talking about the exposure of my crotch for 14 episodes.

The next worry is whether you packed them correctly.  I believe that Heather offers a tutorial on how to correctly pack a suitcase.  One must be as wrinkle-free as one can when on vacation!  An iron and ironing board in the room, you say? WTF?  One can't be bothered to do such a menial task while on vacation.  Pack it right, and clothes will be tight! :)

I have a full set of vintage teal green Samsonites collecting dust; available to anyone lucky enough to travel.  Me?  Bound to stay home for the rest of my needy critters' lives; feeding & medicating them.  It's a labor of love, y'all.

But if I ever needed to pack a suitcase?  There would be a whole lotta room for smugglers' booty, since I never wear chonies (and have never inadvertently flashed anyone).

And there, my friends, is how low the Real Housewives has made me go, since I've never felt the need to talk about anything going on in the nether regions.  Le sigh.

You may refer and infer whatever you wish, with this less-than-royal-decree.  But the screenname?  Alludes to the purported ability to crack walnuts, sans hands ...  And now I've said too much, and may hate myself in the morning.  :-D

How does one go about setting up an alter ego on PTV?  Just asking for a friend ...

LOL, I will work on it. I considered using wanton in the above post but that term has weird memories: in college I had an instructor for whom English was not his first language and who pronounced wanton as won ton -- yes, like the soup. I spent an entire term of my sophmore year craving Chinese food.

I hate the idea of animal breeding.  The only reason to do it is to sell the animals.  It's just an ugly practice to me.  You are right, Bronzedog.  There are a lot of breeders out there.  We got our border collie from a breeder.  He was the runt of the litter and nobody wanted him because he was very needy.  I felt that we rescued him indirectly and was ok with that decision.

@yourmomiseasy is correct that it is important to draw a distinction between modern domesticated dog and cat breeding, other animal breeding in general, and the importance of animal breeding in human history. Both domesticated dog and cat breeding and factory farm breeding have been particularly irresponsible when it comes to breeding for singular traits while ignoring the overall health of the animal or the species. However, much of human development and civilization has occurred because of animal breeding.

For tens of thousands of years, we've bred dogs to protect us and our livestock, to hunt with us, and to assist us in a variety of ways. We've bred cats to keep our homes and graineries pest free. We've bred cows for about 13,000 years to plow our fields, give us milk, and provide meat. We've bred domestic pigs from wild boars to serve as food probably about 15,000 years ago. We've bred chickens and other fowl for food for only a couple thousand years. However, non-nomadic hunter-gatherer human societies exist in large part because of animal breeding. Heck, even nomadic cultures are a hugely indebted to horse breeding, which happened about 7,000 years ago and was hugely important to Bedouins, Mongolians, and later Native Americans. Cultures in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia domesticated camels about 5,000 years ago for transportation, food, and textiles. Cities exist because of animal breeding. It's important to make a distinction between irresponsible modern breeding, responsible breeding, and how important breeding is generally to human civilization.

The reality is that we can sit here on the internet debating the ethics of animal breeding because our ancestors domesticated cows and horses to plow fields so they could plant grain. They domesticated dogs and cats to keep our food and homes free from pests and predators. All of this left them free to pursue other things like philosophy, writing, and science rather than spending their time hunting and gathering food.

i would love to hear the stories. Could you put them in Small talk or Heather's thread since they are related?

Mostly they just involve me picking up my stuff and storming out yelling "I can't work under these conditions."  Whether the conditions were drunk pimps running around the office yelling, someone riding a motocross bike through the office, 50 Cent's well armed bodyguards camping out at my desk, the UFO-ologist on loud calls blathering about chupacabra, Playboy bunny pillow fights, etc.  It was a mad house.  I was in countless meetings with Peter but only talked to him directly a few times one was him grandiosely offering to let me use his helicopter whenever I wanted, another was yelling at me for boxing up my desk when we were on the brink of bankruptcy because it was bad for moral to do so and another was him yelling at a bunch of us for playing poker during work hours because we were required to be in the office but not allowed to do work and you can only spend so many hours a day at lunch drinking sangria.   After we could no longer play poker I spent a lot of time reading about inane topics online so I know a lot of ridiculous things about topics no one cares about.

I breed dogs to show.  I have some of the top dogs in the history of my breed, it is hard work.  It is harder to get a puppy from me then a mortgage.  I have a contract that I will enforce.  I breed to get a puppy for myself to show.  The rest are sold as pets.  They are microchipped and I am the back up contact.  I take any dog back for any reason at any time.  Factory producers do not breed for any trait but $$$$.  Responsible breeders have a litany of things they breed for and do genetic and health screenings.  I lose money on every litter because I do it correct.

There is a benefit of having your “ friend”.  When it ends for the month, you feel a relief.  I am over my friend many years, but SWEAR I still have PMS.  Truly, I’m not kidding.  Every damn 10th of the month, I feel sick with headache, aches, cramps, tired, no energy, and just want to lie down.  My Dr. thinks I’m nuts, but I know my body, and no one can tell me it isn’t so.  This crummy feeling lasts for about one week, every month.  Oh, and I get very crabby and get the jitters.  LOVELY.  Good Luck.  Lol

Well crap. That's not what I wanted to hear. At this point I have terrible PMS from midcycle through the second day of slaughter house bleeding then I feel relief for a week and a half. It never goes away????? Is that what I'm learning?

It varies.  I mentioned I stopped having my period about 4-5 years ago and I have no issues.  Yeah, I gained weight in my midsection but its going away.  I also had blinding hot moments of wanting to cut a bitch and occasionally a hot flash (more so when super stressed) but that is it.  No phantom PMS for me.  But again, I think everyone has their own version of menopause.  That is what makes it so evil!!!!  Its an unpredictable fucker.

like.  ten.  hot.  flashes.  a.  day.  using Rogaine on my hair.  almost started crying at work b/c someone dropped a bin of mail on my desk.  the struggle is real AF. and the flow is either nonexistent (as in I'm taking a test after every time I've been intimate w/mister....so like...six tests?  luckily they're two to a box.  LOL) or a call-in-sick-and-sit-on-a-towel-while-sporting-three-nighttime-strength Stayfrees.

I told my doc that I was scared to death that I was going to accidentally kill my husband, she said, "oh yeah..." and she & the nurse laughed.

Oh man.  That sounds awful!  Some smarty pants 15 year old scientist needs to figure out a way to cure the horribleness of peri menopause/menopause.  No one should have to deal with that.  Partners around the world will be safer!

Regulating with hormones?  Never heard of this.  The symptoms sound like the basic peri-menopause, "change of life" symptoms.

It's nice not to have periods, but ther are downsides, as mentioned previously.  And little-discussed -- things dry up.  Just saying.

YES!  This used to be commonplace until the WHI study in 2002.  This study was later found to be flawed and it only looked at women on SYNTHETIC Premarin/Prempro not bio identical hormones.  I truly believe it would have saved me losing my ovaries and not going through the anguish of immediate menopause when they were removed.  Hormones taken in conservative doses can be very beneficial for women, especially during perimenopause.  My gyno had many chances to put me on progesterone BEFORE I suffered with very painful cysts on my ovaries but she chose to ignore it until one ruptured and became septic and then I had to have a full hysterectomy with ovaries removed and I have not been the same, even on hormone replacement. I hope Shannon is on hormones and it helps with all that ails her during peri and meno.

My doc offered to put me on hormones, basically birth control to regulate my symptoms. Bc makes you have regular periods. I said no thanks. I can imagine shannon going on hormones.

BC pills are synthetic and your body doesn't use them the same as they would bio identical(estrogen and progesterone exactly the same as your body makes)hormones.  I have found that gynecologists are the worst at understanding or prescribing hormones. There are doctors that specialize in it and you can stay on low doses to control horrible symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. There are many women that stay on them all their lives and feel great. I know ladies in their eigthties that are still on them and very active and healthy.

GET THOSE HORMONES BALANCED!  It isn't a strange, mysterious science, it's simply find a doctor that will check all hormones including the thyroid and get you balanced at any age.  Women suffer needlessly because doctors and women fear natural hormones.  Used with caution, meaning not overdosing on them, they are very good for you. We live much longer and the ovaries just can't keep up and it is good for so many systems in the body especially the cardiac system.  If you are suffering, see a doctor that can help lessen the blow of peri/meno.  I so wish I knew what I now know today about hormones.

What kind of Doctor does this. A gyn? I’m 47, still have a monthly event, but it is murder scene-esque for 3-4 days. I’ve never had a huge pms issue, but I’m really afraid of hot flashes and crazy emotions when this thing starts to stop. I’d rather be proactive.

It does not have to be a gyno and I have actually found that gynos are least interested in hormones and frankly do not really understand them for peri or meno use.  Find a doctor that specializes in bio identical hormones and that doesn't mean just pellets.  There are patches, pills, creams, gels, etc.  You just need to find a doctor that is willing to work with you and your current issues.  You are very smart to get this under control before it becomes a huge problem.  You may only need some natural progesterone but talk to a knowledgeable doctor and he or she can help guide you.  I so wish I would have known to get myself checked out way back in my early 40's and I probably would have avoided losing my uterus and ovaries.  It is a day I will always regret.
