Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

I laughed so hard at Jill's "He is literally one of the most hard working modern day people I know" comment about Tim. Ignoring the fact that everyone she knows is technically a "modern day person" by virtue of living in the 21st century, he sure as shit didn't learn that work ethic at home.

because "pediatric neurologist" isn't enough words. And Doesn't Use Enough Capital Letters.

I believe those are Jilll’s sister Amy’s daughters wearing outfits that their mother made for them.  Once you hear that Amy named the poor tykes Amity and Azalea, it becomes clear that she doesn’t much like them and lives to embarrass and humiliate them.  She’s doing a bang up job thus far.  I find the pincushion hats with matching bloomers to be particularly egregious.

Jill DESPERATELY (if I put it in all capitals is that speaking her language?) needs to ditch the heavy, black eyeliner. It's doing her no favors. I'm closer to 30 than Jill's 40 and never applied black eyeliner and mascara so heavily, but I'm starting to think maybe brown would be better for me, at least for every day.

Seriously, Jill would look 100 times more normal is she made that one change.

Her whole post read like "Blah, blah, blah, FREE FOOD, yadda, yadda, yadda, FREE FOOD, something, something, something, FREE FOOD!!!"

Well, 13 (?) kids and nobody with an actual job....I can kinda see why FREE FOOD is an attention-getter.

The outfits are little much, but the names are fine. One of my friends has a little girl named Azalea and it's a name on the rise.  Amity is a name with certain associations for me personally, but it's fine and in keeping with Temperance of course.

Names are getting more and more diverse, and I doubt those names would be too weird among most people their age even if they're more unusual.

I went to school with an Acadia, which I always thought was a pretty name. I think Azalea and Amity are unique but not in the "Wtf were those parents thinking?" category.

Amity reminds me of The Amityville Horror movie and book

To each his own.  Between the names and the outfits, those kids could be characters in a novel by Charles Dickens.

Is it me or is Tim looking a lot cuter since he moved to Washington? Maybe actually having food to eat is filling him out so he doesn't have that starved scarecrow look anymore.

Where is a picture of Tim? Curious to see if he’s still blonde.

For some reason, I kinda like the picture above. Jill looks more normal than I've ever seen her. And a LOT of it has to do with the toned down look -- no ratted up hair or weird angles, MINIMAL makeup, with the eyeliner mostly hidden by the glasses. It looks like a normal/natural goofy family shot, not the try-hard version I'm used to seeing from her.

I see Stormy coming over to babysit, but that’s just me.

When do you think it will hit Tim that his parents never had to plan anything around a job? That he had to miss Thanksgiving with his family to work enough hours to pay his bills probably wasn't enough to open his eyes, but if it happens enough times he might begin to realize it.

What type of work is Tim doing with the hard hat?

The only thing I can see him doing is being a flagger because anything else with the hard hat you need experience and schooling.

I'm surprised Jill didn't say,"Amy made these back when she could sew! Before she SEVERELY broke her neck!"

The dresses were made by Jill’s sister Angie. With all of her babbling, the text and pictures are a mish mash! This was the description:

Check out these ADORABLE dresses Angie made for her two little girls – Azalea and Amity.  Aren’t they beautiful?!

I wondered this, too. ....

Unfortunately, if it's true it reinforces the idea that, while the kids in general may be naturally thin, the family's situation has pushed them past their natural levels of thinness into "starved scarecrow" territory. .... It's the smiles that make it look like their skulls are too close to the skin that make me think this most. And Timothy no longer has such a smile, it seems. Although, like the others, he always did before.

Safety glasses and hardhat, yet he has earbuds on. Unless they're noise cancelling buds I can't think of hardhat area that would allow personal music.

Or someone is issuing orders via the earbuds.

I'm thinking he's working in something like a recycling plant...which might be loud and maybe dangerous. (I picture forklifts of trash and junk scurrying everywhere.)

Just guessing.. but it would be good honest work. His parents should try it.

Sarah Maxwell wished happy anniversary to John and Chelsy on their first anniversary. She is happy for them and the "arrow for the quiver" Chelsy is having in a month. Both the Maxwells, and even more so, the Bontragers love the idea of "quiverfull". For those missing Derick's tweets, you can try reading Chelsy's brother Joshua's blog. He's like Derick only less easy-going and more sheltered.

Chaste as in virgin? Maybe I misunderstood.
