So will some scenes that are not prison break out related have been taped pre-Covid? When  we catch up to Halloween all scenes are new? I’m confused with how far in advance  they film.

It was eight months.  It's now about six weeks.

Six weeks is a much more manageable lag between taping and broadcast. They might actually have a fighting chance of re-jigging stories which are falling flat with the audience - like this "she said, he said" nonsense between Allie and Tripp.

I'm so torn on this whole Sarah/Xander/Phillip thing. I loathe the Xander/Sarah pairing and her constant baby talk around him. I think she has every right to be pissed at Xander and his caveman "my woman" talk. I can see why Sarah likes Phillip in their one-on-one scenes because he's fairly sincere in them. He doesn't pretend not to loathe Xander. But in the scenes between the three of them, it was so obvious Phillip was using her to goad Xander, it didn't make sense she didn't tell them both to kick rocks and go somewhere alone. But I am all for Xander and Sarah breaking up. Not because his thuggish butt deserves better, but the pairing doesn't work at all.

I thought Belle did play fear in her scenes with Jan - at least at first before her annoyance took over. I thought she actually overplayed it. I know Jan has terrorized them in the past but the way she was cowering in front of her seemed a little much. It's just the two of them one-on-one. At least try and stand up for yourself instead of attempting to put up any physical fight.

I've been mostly bored with this entire week. I have no interest in Rolf, Clyde, or Orpheus. I ended up fast-forwarding most of the Clyde/Ben scenes. I'm disgusted with this show trying to sell some touching story of the love between a serial killer and his child molester father. I don't care how charismatic James Read is, it's stomach-churning to watch. And it doesn't really make sense because one of the reasons we're supposed to feel sorry for Ben is his childhood abuse yet we're supposed to care about his abuser as well.

I don't think you're supposed to feel sorry for anyone. Writers write a story. You can take it with a grain of salt or follow it the way you follow any drama without getting emotionally involved.

Let's face it, all stories have heroes and villains. Not every actor gets to play a hero. So unfortunately, that leaves many actors playing villains...and some do a damn good job doing so.

Just recently saw their softcore porn love scene. No heat ,no chemistry whatsoever. You have to give props to the director of that episode for trying as hard as he could to make their love scene push the barriers of PG 13 rating by trying to sell the pairing as a hot couple but unfortunately ,the pairing aint got much chemistry.

Xander only seemed to generate heat with Nicole and Serena( Melissa Archer ).

Yeah ,but both Clyde and Ben are garbage .

How are we supposed to actually react to a serial killer and his drug lord /murderous /child molester daddy having emotional scenes ? Its complete BS. Im astonished that the show is prepared to waste what little money they got left on BS such as this.

Oh man, the show is about to ruin my favorite mad scientist aren't they?  Dr. Rolf had better not hurt Kayla--the poor woman has been through enough.

I am so beyond caring about Orpheus and his "dark" plans and didn't Allie think it was strange that Salem's electric company--Salem a city in the Midwest near Chicago-- had a worker with such a think Southern accent?

If you don't get emtionally involved, at some level in a piece of fiction, then the writing is a failure, be it tv, a book, short story or a movie.  Even documentaries on people and human events elicit an emotional response.

Otherwise you might as well be reading a recipe or an instruction manual.

I even get emotionally involved in recipes.  Why try to make it if nothing about it inspires me?

As for today's show?  I got nothing.

I personally think the villains (Orpheus, Victor, Rolf, Sami, etc.) on this show are the most interesting and have the best lines. Granted, they need better plots. The so-called heroes and heroines were engaging and people I rooted for back in the '80, but now I either find them boring or dense. Sometimes both. A few are just outright annoying with their 'my shit doesn't stink' attitudes. As a result, I'm usually rooting for the villains to win these days. Especially when the heroes/heroines act like they are stuck in a horror movie where they are just too dumb to live.

I disagree. I write and I know there is a certain way I hope my readers take certain scenes or plotlines as a whole. I can't make them feel what I want, but I can hope and try the best I can. With TV shows/movies, there are ways to try and get audiences to feel something. The way the actors perform the scene, the music, etc. There's no way those Clyde/Ben scenes as written and performed weren't supposed to make you feel like a heart-warming/touching scene was occurring. There's no way that with how the show has been shoving Ben's so-called redemption and the numerous over-the-top praise scenes involving Ben and various people that we're not supposed to feel sorry for him or root for him.

True most stories have heroes and villains and, yeah, a lot of the actors playing villains are great doesn't mean it's necessary to try and redeem most of them (especially when they've done stuff like molestation, child murder, serial killing, etc.) or consistently utilize well-past their sell-by date. I know there are plenty of people who have villains they love to hate or just outright root for, but I don't usually go for that. It's rare for me to root for villains (i can enjoy them more often with movies when my time spent with them is limited) to get anything but their comeuppance.

Same here,  There are villains on soaps and in other genres that I have found interesting but never wanted to win in the end.  I thought Tony Soprano of the Sopranos played by the late James Gandolfini was an interesting villain and that was due to his talents. Not to mention, the writers never wanted us to root for him like Ron and company wants us to root for Ben the serial killer or Kristen the psychopath.  Tony was a monster while  he was capable of showing good qualities as a human being, he still remained a monster.. Monsters are not good after all is said and done.. Soaps no longer know how to write that type of complexity. They have characters do all type of heinous stuff and then six months later they tell you that they are redeem and you should forget what you saw..

No one is going to go apartment to apartment to check for the source of a power outage. Any breakers or the panel would be in a special room, most likely in the basement. Also, you should ask for ID and then once the person leaves, LOCK the door. The tip off would be the candle next to the curtains. One does not do that Of course, Allie is stupid.

Nice of Ben to call Xander to ask about any places the trio could hide. Yes, he does owe Doc.

Nice save, Steve, to say that Kayla was going to call the university to put in a word for Tripp. However, he really hasn't been charged with anything, so it seems stupid.

Dr. Deluded Rolf. Let Stefano go, please. How can you get all these essences of him? Is it like working to create a perfume?

John, you got there a little late. Wonder who Orpheus had tailing Doc - seriously, she could just call the cops.

Awww, Grandpa Clyde.

Poor choice of words on my part. Hard to explain that while I enjoy certain emotional scenes, I don't get overly emotional to where I question "what is the writer thinking?"  I watch strictly for entertainment value, and because I've developed this hard-to-break 50-yr old habit 😉

Totally agree. I think the problem with Ron is that he writes this shit thinking the actor(s) will be gone in a few months. Then all of a sudden the actor or actress clicks with another character and/or the actor/actress becomes popular (i.e. Luke of Luke & Laura), so now the writer is between a rock & a hard place, so what to do...especially if the writer wants to keep them on board?

I believe that's where/when all his redemption stories are written/told. Even I have to cringe re: some of them! That's why I try not to get overly emotional about ANY story. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy the show or feel something during a particularly emotional storyline. It just means that I don't take it seriously, and just try to enjoy it for what it's worth...from purely an entertainment prospective.

OK. I am shallow and old.  I can't believe the level of decorating on this show.  All the homes look like they have been decorated by someone who is colorblind with the requirement to shop at thrift stores and homeless camps.  I realize they have no money for this show, but Kayla's apartment is the worst, replacing Hope's apartment, which was downright scary.  The dungeons look better.  Maybe people who live near Chicago actually use this total mismatch of fabrics and accessories, and I am out of touch.  I won't get started on the clothes.

Marlena might have gotten Evan out faster and came off less of a bitch if she would have just told the head doc that his grandkids would probably be kidnapped next and join Clyde’s drunken day care if he didn’t help. And speaking of Clyde, who in the hell kidnaps a baby and takes it to a public park when they are a wanted criminal? I’m surprised he didn’t tell him a bedtime story while he was there. Once upon a time, I killed EJ Dimera in this here murder park. But don’t you worry, little Henry. Dr. Rolf brought him back to life so it has a happy ending.

I swear this show would get better ratings if it would just parody itself.  Like after the dramatic reveal that Clyde kidnapped the baby on Orpheus’s accord, Allie should have just breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Oh well he was already on my list to have Henry if Rafe, and Will, and Nicole didn't work out.”

Oh Marlena was so offended by that doctor that dared to compare Claire with Christian, THE MURDERER who killed the mother of his child and then even worse, frame Ben for it.

Meanwhile when did Nicole become friendly with Ben that she thinks so highly of him.

Honestly what has Ben done to earn such devotion except resisting the urge to kill people again.

Yes, Allie, you're right, you're an idiot.

The only two police officers in the entire city are out on the job tonight.

I wonder what Clyde would have done if Nicole had been out in the living room when he showed up at the door.

Does Nicole know what Clyde looks like? (I missed some of the early Clyde times.) Although Nicole is a lot more street savvy than Allie, so she would have put up much more of a fight about the "power company" coming in to "investigate". I guess we're just to believe in the utter convenience of Henry spitting up on Nicole.

Ugh, Marlena and her hypocrisy.  It's especially rich when you consider that she knows Christian's upbringing. One of her husband's is responsible for him losing his mother.  But it was an accident so that's supposed to make it all okay. Funny, though the little fire-starter Claire didn't set Ciara on fire by accident. But she's forgiven and in Marlena's book she's better than Christian I suppose because she didn't succeed in her crime but he did.

Ben, maybe you could have told Eli about John and Orpheus and Marlena and that Orpheus most likely has a police scanner so John asked you to keep quiet. At least he can have some quiet time at the police station. Too bad that your serial killer background most likely will make you ineligible to become a Salem cop/detective.

Marlena, you could have had a police officer with you to talk to the head of Bayview about temporarily releasing Evan because you will be killed if he doesn't.

Lucas shouldn't be talking to his mom about his daughter. That should be up to Allie. And Kate, you should realize that there is no evidence that Tripp actually did anything at this time. His side vs Allie's side.

Nicole is a bit larger than Allie and most likely could have dealt with Clyde better. And Clyde, why are you hanging out at the public park?

Exactly what I was about to ask!  Shawn doesn't even live in the country, and they allow him to just pop in once or twice a year and work for them.  Salem PD clearly doesn't have a very stringent background check or enforcement of said background check - or HR policies in general.

Guys, I don't know about you but in the suckage that is 2020, there's nothing I want more than to see women threatened with losing their bodily autonomy via pregnancy.

First, we have Allie's pregnancy be the result of her rape.  I think she's pointing her finger at the wrong guy but clearly she was assaulted by someone.  And now we have Rolfe wanting to implant Stefano's clone in someone.  Ugh.

Rolf is now officially a mad scientist.  He has the requisite lab, and everything.

That flashback from yesterday's show with Christian and Marlena's conversation at the hospital seemed oddly out of place.

I realized that Orpheus and Christian didn't hug, that might be the first time I noticed something that probably was the result of the pandemic.

The hospital just gives out their security footage to any random person off the street?

"Young Frankenstein" reference.

Where does John get his money?

Clyde wanted to avoid getting caught so he didn't want to go into a store, but he had to problem with hanging out in the public park.  Speaking of which, it's allegedly October in Salem, shouldn't it be cold in mid-Illinois?

Damn, Kate!

Hey, Allie finally admitted the truth: that she the only reason she wanted to give up Henry was because she didn't want to be stuck raising. All her crocodile tears from before about how she wanted what was best for the baby or how she wasn't ready to be a mom or how she didn't want Sami to have him were bullshit. She just didn't want to be to "stuck". Nicole should have let her beat herself up some more because then maybe more truths would have come out. And I LMAO when Nicole called Allie a great mother. I guess occasionally putting a baby to sleep and giving him his bottle is all it takes to be a great mother!

Where is Evan/Christian going to go? If there are cops and an ambulance on the way, and if he actually uses the road and not the bush, he will be found. You don't know your surroundings, you don't have a flashlight or anything, and you may get caught.

You go, Kate. Finding Henry and then most likely shooting Clyde.  As if she'd carry a baby pacifier in her bag.

Rolf, you have become a mad scientist. Don't get this whole Stefano clone thing. It may contain some or most of his DNA, but the personality and such may not be his for a long time. Not like Rolf will live to 150 to see the results of his work.

Not wanting to be "stuck" raising him and not being ready to be a mom or wanting what's best for him aren't mutually exclusive reasons. They can all be true.   In fact, the mom not wanting to be "stuck" raising a kid so therefore she decides to give him up for adoption only reinforces her previously stated reasons, IMO.  Not wanting to be "stuck" with a kid proves a) she's not ready to be a mom and b) Henry would be better off with someone who didn't feel that way about him

There's a documentary about scientists from our reality attempting to resurrect the woolly mammoth from frozen DNA, so I don't see Dr Rolf to be any more crazy than them.  But if he believes that a specific genetic code is all that made Stefano the man that he so adores, perhaps he truly has lost his mind.

These stories were more fun last week when there was still a bit of mystery as to where they were going.  I actually liked Christian not wanting to go on the run with his father to raise his kid but then he ran off?  Back to Bayview?  Or just to show up as another criminal plot point in the future?

And Clyde went from being an ironic figure to another silly plot point.  Unless something great happens tomorrow, I can't imagine that this padding was necessary for the Halloween episode to play as Friday's episode.

So Allie went from 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds. She plays hot potato with Henry for eons, basically shirks him off to Nicole despite living there too, but mopes over her favourite photo of him on her phone.

I get that people come to realizations after certain things happen in their life, but this is a reach.

I liked the genuine move to maturity and comradery between Kate and Nicole.

I love Dr. Rolfe, but the obsession with Stefano has passed its best before date. Go on being a mad scientist, but leave the Stefano stuff in the past.

I liked seeing Nicole and Kate talk like adults and maybe the beginning of a friendship between them - for how long it lasts.

Allie, it's time to decide what you want to do with your baby. You just can't dump him on Nicole or whoever and only spend time with him when you want to. You probably would have been happy somewhere within if the baby did actually disappear.

Steve to the rescue. Dr. Rolf needs to give him his obsession with his late employer. Loyal, yes, but seriously? How did Gwen get in to the police station? Pretend to be a lawyer? What does he expect her to do? Is he looking for a new baby mama for the 'embryo' since Kayla didn't work out and he is assessing his options? Liked the Mary Poppins comment.

Kate has good aim with her gun. Lucky for her, the boss came by to help her out.

Did anyone else notice several editing glitches right after Ben asked Eli if he could see Clyde?  I counted three skips.

For as much as I love Dr Rolf, I was relieved that Steve showed up to put an end to the possibility of Kayla being unwillingly impregnated with Stefano's DNA.

Allie finally recognizing that she loves her son seems to be the only result of this Spoiler-i-fic Prison Break®️.  Did anything else really happen?
