Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but Alex Trebek had surgery over Christmas break, he had a blood clot on the brain, caused by a fall he had taken in October.  After surgery, he is recuperating at home, and will resume taping "soon".  The only change in the schedule will be moving College Championship to April.   Sounds scary, but in the taped interview, Alex looked good.

I'm glad he's okay.  He's a tough old bird.  Even though he sometimes annoys the crap outta me, Jeopardy! wouldn't be the same without him.

I could not agree more.  It’s exactly how I feel about Jeff Probst on Survivor.  Sure, he drives me nuts, but there is no way Survivor would be my favorite without him.

I don’t want Alex to get any older!  I would love Ken as host too but I’m not ready for that yet.

Well, I'm clearly a horrible person, because halfway through watching that video I wondered if he was wearing the hat to hide a partially-shaved head.

I'll join you in the horrible person category -- I wondered that when I saw the still from the video.  I haven't actually watched.

Count me in.

He's in amazing shape for 77, but he's still 77.  I loved Ken, but the bloom is off the rose a little for me, so I want Alex to stick around as long as possible.

I thought the same thing.  We're not horrible, just observant and curious.

I like this reasoning better, and have no doubt the cap was hiding a shaved spot.

It really caught my eye tonight that there were several clues that were not shown on the board, rather they were superimposed over the contestant shot like the FJ.  Is that something new, or have I been oblivious all this time?

ETA:  Meant to post in Episode thread, but thanks, Browncoat, for responding and clarifying.  I'm a regular J! watcher, but tonight it absolutely jumped out at me.

I wonder if he will use any silly accents when he asks questions...

He'll Take 'Gubernatorial Debate' For 400: Trebek Tries Out Moderator's Chair

If the answer is, "This longtime Jeopardy! host has been chosen to moderate a Pennsylvania gubernatorial debate this fall," then the question is, "Who is Alex Trebek?"

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the popular quiz show host will question incumbent Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf and the winner of the GOP primary during a 45-minute debate on Oct. 1 hosted by the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry during its annual dinner.

"Although candidates won't answer in the form of questions, they will share their perspectives on job creation, fiscal policy, reasonable regulatory oversight and more," the chamber told The Hill.

Eric Trump mocked for sharing Jeopardy! clue about himself and Jared Kushner

Quote

"Eric Trump to Jared Kushner", it stated.

Alongside the image, Mr Trump wrote: "Always fun being a Jeopardy question," before going on to answer it in the form of a question.

"Who is brother in law?"

Twitter users quickly lampooned Mr Trump, replying with their own Jeopardy! style questions.

Examples of Twitter responses can be found at the link.

Dimitri, who answered the clue correctly, had his own response to Trump's tweet.

Wow.

It was "Eric Trump to Jared Kushner," so it's referring to Eric Trump, i.e., who is he to Jared. If it was "Carrie Fisher to Debbie Reynolds," the answer would be What is daughter. One of the contestants got confused on another clue (or was simply guessing wrong) about who was the mother and who the daughter.

I agree that it should have been "What" not "Who." I often think the contestants use the wrong question word.

I get that. I was trying to say that any of the other responses were actually TWO relations - mother vs daughter, etc., so the Trump/Kushner response should have been "brother" pluralized with the "in-law" added after the S in brothers.

I don't think so, if I understand what you're saying. Again, it's just Eric Trump that the clue was asking about, not both of them. In my example, it's just Carrie Fisher the clue is asking about, not Debbie Reynolds, so the answer would be "What is daughter." If the clue were "Carrie Fisher AND Debbie Reynolds," then the answer would be "What is daughter and mother."

No, all the clues sought who one person was in relation to the other person, not who they were to each other.  So the answers were "mother," "nephew," etc. and thus "brother-in-law," not "brothers-in-law."
