My child was born with an eye issue which has caused a "wonky" eye. We spent years of his baby/childhood trying to patch (try keeping an eye patch on a baby.) and doing whatever the dr's recommended to try to improve it to no avail. It has never held him back from most of his endeavors and he has a great job with a great company. However, it breaks my heart to think how many times he had to pretend he didn't hear, or it didn't bother him to hear nasty remarks about something he had no contrrol over. He never thought his appearance on this sketchy show would be his undoing. A well-balanced person considers the pros and cons before jumping into something so drastic, but when you are a narcissist, you always think that you’ll educate/convince/be applauded for your actions and things will turn out right, because you’re you. Edited to add: And if things don’t turn out right, it wouldn’t be your fault, because as a narcissist, nothing ever is.
