TexasGal November 19, 2020 Share November 19, 2020 Quote With the ladies operating on a “clean slate,” Whitney plans a roaring 20s party. Heather hosts a baby shower for five of her young, Mormon, pregnant employees, Meredith and Mary grow closer, and Jen acts inappropriately at a nighttime gathering. Later, when Meredith cancels plans, Jen begins to grow skeptical of Mary’s involvement and questions Meredith’s friendship. Airdate: 11.25.2020 Link to comment

sandwoman November 20, 2020 Share November 20, 2020 (edited) There's a lot going on in this episode but the most distracting thing of all was Mary's hair during her dinner with Meredith. Get some hair spray, comb it! What's the point of wearing super fancy designer clothes if your hair is going to look raggedy! HOW does Jen pay all these people?! I don't understand! Jen is trying so so hard and it makes her so dislikable. Why is Lisa's voice so hoarse? Whitney's not as cute as she thinks she is with her breathy "1920s"(?) voice. (she does know that Marilyn Monroe is NOT a 1920s icon, right?) Edited November 20, 2020 by sandwoman 13 Link to comment
Neurochick November 20, 2020 Share November 20, 2020 (edited) Here is my take on Jen. When I was in college in the Stone Age, I knew a woman EXACTLY like Jen, from her overly made up face, too high heels and always overdressed. She was Indigenous South American, neither black nor white, I’ll call her “L”. The white American girls didn’t like her and the South American girls didn’t like her because most of them were European descent. So out of necessity, she started hanging around with us, the black girls, and all was well UNTIL she liked a guy that another black girl liked. The guy chose her, which was cool with me because I didn’t think too much of them, and where I went to school it was like five guys to every girl, especially if you were a black girl. Many of the black girls turned against her and it got ugly, it was like, "you only started hanging out with us to take OUR men, when the white guys didn't even want to be bothered with you." It turned into this colorism issue where she started hanging around only with myself, and some other light skin girls. She then started calling the darker black girls “dots.” That’s when the clothes and make up and heels began. It almost seemed like a look at ME, I can look better than ANY OF YOU, to the black girls. And Jen’s dress wasn’t from the 1920’s, the hourglass gown was more from the 1890’s IMO. So that’s my take on Jen; to me she's a phony and she probably hates Mary because SHE, JEN wanted to be the only WOC on this franchise, and she's not, so boo hoo sis. JAYJAY1979 November 20, 2020 Share November 20, 2020 I get early OC vibes with SLC...with the women in scenes in their day to day lives...plus some fun friend scenes. Jen: I don't like her. Money doesn't help with lonliness... and I'm not surprised hubby and kids are not around. Heather: baby shower idea was fun, and I like that she's struggling with how she was raised and how she can raise her daughters. Her hubby did her wrong. Lisa: I like the family scenes with her and her sons..plus the subtle shade she throws at Whitney. Meredith: her son was right...Jen was being inappropriate. She seems nice so far..and I guess she's Switzerland. Whitney: she seems sweet..not much focus on her tonight. Mary: she is interesting..wouldn't say I like her...but her backstory is interesting. My impressions after a watching episode 3 of SLC. 4 Link to comment

SemiCharmedLife November 21, 2020 Share November 21, 2020 I couldn't believe the scene in the car with Lisa and her young son. He didn't get any of the Ten Commandments right (although his version of them was cute) and his mom didn't correct him- does she know? Also, I can't believe a boy of his age knowing about porn. Much like Sonya of RHONY, these are interns/free labor for filming, once those cameras are off they are gone, I doubt Mrs. Shah knows there names or anything about them. I would rather watch the HW's having fun, see the scenery. eat and drink, get all the dirty details and even fight then watch them be posers in rented houses. I feel like the women rent these houses knowing that we will know they rented them all the while they think we all wish we had the money to (throw away) rent one of those homes. I cannot imagine there is one HW out there that does not realize we all know the truth about 99% of them and their supposed wealth. And, that blonde beefy girl's tongue still bothers me. LibertarianSlut November 22, 2020 Share November 22, 2020 Twenty percent of Heather’s employees are pregnant for the first time with boys??? Was there a groupon for the fertility doctor or something? I’m a little tired of people on this show explaining the Mormon ideals, yet not practicing Mormonism. What is the point of talking all about this religion that they don’t live? And, I’m sorry, there is no “Mormon 2.0.” It’s not in the dictionary. If Lisa wants to invent that, she has to explain exactly what it is. Is that like being a Cafeteria Catholic? Then what is the point of converting to such a religion? What I think is really missing from this show is a brief, yet in-depth explanation of what Mormonism is, since it’s so central to the show, and then each woman who is associated with it—either as a convert or someone born into the faith who has since rejected it—should explain what their religious practices are on the daily and/or what they used to be, because I am a fairly intelligent person, yet I am so confused about so many things they say. Non sequiturs such as Heather rejecting the church because she likes rap music and Lisa’s son thinking the 10 Commandments tell you not to smoke don’t cover it. The closest anyone has come to an explanation of the big picture of the faith was when Heather said that Mormons believe you can attain perfection here on earth. Last episode, Lisa alluded to the gospel of the church versus the ministry. Ok, but those were one sentence. If this is going to be the thrust of the franchise, I would like a paragraph from them. I don’t think it’s too much to ask on a show that has angel voices in the background, with a camera that constantly pans to a huge Mormon church covered in snow. And if you’re not Mormon and you’re on the show, maybe don’t talk about it obsessively, because that makes it even more confusing. Like, where I grew up, the people were Catholic by a slim majority, but I’m not Catholic, so I never felt the need to say, “The Catholic Church asks you to give up something for Lent, but I don’t do that.” If I went on TV and made mentions of how the Catholic Church doesn’t approve of birth control...but I use birth control, and the Catholic Church doesn’t approve of premarital sex...but I had premarital sex, I think people would (rightfully) be confused as hell about me, and wonder why I had such a fixation with Catholicism. It’s irrelevant to my social practices if it’s not my faith. As troubling as it is to me that Mary doesn’t talk in full sentences—her mumble-stutter is actually kind of maddening—at least it makes sense to me that she spends so much time talking about her own church, not someone else’s church (I’m not interested in going down the Reddit rabbit hole with any of these people. I judge them off the four corners of the episode). She hasn’t really bothered me yet. I wouldn’t marry my step-grandpa—it’s not my cup of tea—and if someone in my social circle did it, I’d maybe, at most, politely whisper some impolite things about them and then I’d stop, because it’s not my business. I’m not entirely sure why this unconventional type of marriage is being called out as sick, whereas other types of unconventional marriages are celebrated. I think Mary’s being held to a double standard. That’s ok that that’s an UO. I have a lot of those. I also like the fact that Mary is open and honest about her marriage, without getting defensive and without shoving it down our throats, like that other Ho on this show... Speaking of, Jen’s nose is so fucking scary. She paid for that shit??? What could it possibly have looked like before that it deserves to look like this post-surgery? Everything about her disgusts me. She is a seeping vat of attention. She wears open-toed heels all the time in the snow...why? Does she think she’s Mariah Carey in that her quirkiness is her calling card? Because that shit isn’t even working for MC in 2020, and it sure as a shit ain’t working for Jen Shah. She talks about nothing except herself and her husband. Ok, Brooks is fucking ridiculous, and his reasoning about Jen is wrong, but he’s not wrong about Jen. I just disagree about how he arrived at his conclusion. Because the bitch was kicking her leg up? Huh? Where does kicking one’s leg up fall on the offensiveness scale between the thumbs-up emoji and pantomiming the lifting of one’s shirt as a way to convey the way a fellow cast member was perceived at BYU? Whether her personality is good or not, I think Meredith is one of the prettiest Housewives facially who has come around in some time, although the nasal voice detracts from her beauty. Is the prettiness why Jen doesn’t like her? I get the feeling Jen only likes the people who kiss her ring. The employees need to shout her name at the beginning of every shift? Why do I get the feeling she is like Stalin in that the first one who stops clapping for her gets sent to the gulag? And her reaction to Meredith canceling the sleepover to spend time with her daughter who is home from college was so disproportionate to the offense. Everything is all only about Jen; hasn’t Meredith heard? I just simply can’t stand Whitney. Lisa has a flat affect, and she seems like she’s hooked up to a Xanax drip, but I think that is exactly who she is. She’s not putting on a fake personality. Whitney, on the other hand, seems so fake and contrived. I don’t believe the cadence of her super soft and her super slow voice in her talking heads and the way she ends all of her sentences in up-talk, as if it’s all a question, is her genuine personality. I...can’t...STAND it? (That was my impression of Whitney in writing). She is such a cliche—the good little Mormon girl who went bad, complete with the stripper pole in her basement, the rose vine tattoo that starts at her upper torso that goes to God-knows-where, the platinum hair, the red lip, and dropping F bombs for, I guess...shock value? The only thing that prevents Whitney from becoming a complete cliche is that she doesn’t have a teeny tiny nose piercing. She’s got to be able to modify that voice that sounds like she just took a hit of helium off a balloon at least a little bit. She just chooses not to for some very odd reason. I have never seen someone who fetishizes the forbidden quite as much as Whitney. Her eyes just light up like a Christmas tree at the idea of “possibly” smoking something illegal and the fact that some people drank liquor during Prohibition! Is she twelve? What is she going to confess next, that she jay-walked once? She was late returning a book to the library? There is something so repressed about her that she is desperately trying to overcome, yet it is crystal clear she is not past the struggle, she is deeply within the struggle. If she would drop the pretense and just be who she was, Whitney would be exponentially more interesting. I found Heather’s toast to the mothers-to-be at the baby shower mildly insulting and condescending. If you think they’re too young to have babies, don’t celebrate them. If you think that motherhood is going to be a nightmare for them, keep it to yourself at the party that is centered on how exciting it is to have a baby. Maybe these five women will like motherhood, and if Heather didn’t like it, that’s her problem. Maybe they have husbands who will help them with the children and love them. Is she jealous? So here’s something—Jen and Heather have a serious problem with the Mormon Church because black men weren’t allowed to hold positions of power until 40 or 50 years ago, but they have no problem going out of the way to celebrate the 1920s, a much more racist time in America’s history, when Klan membership was at a historic high? That’s not how I look at things—I understand the prejudice and racism occurred across time in American and every other society and I’m not going to reject everything that was associated with bigotry, or I’d have to reject literally everything and start my own society—but them setting that standard and then having the 1920s party with no pause for thought makes them look very foolish to me, if not hypocritical. Jen is really going to freak out every time Mary—her cast member—is invited to an event? It’s going to be a long season... These franchises are all getting so stale, that I think I will stick with this one for longer than I normally would have—I think it’s better than the current iterations of RHNYC, RHOA, RHBH and RH Potomac, which are all bleeding and boring, but there are two members of this cast—Whitney and Jen—that are more unlikable to me than any two given members of the casts I listed above, and Heather is teetering on the precipice. If the two pretty brunettes with the nasal voices and vapid personalities were gone—the ones I like by default(!)—I would consider putting this show in my rear view mirror. Did anyone think of Charlie Sheen in the movie Lucas when Meredith turned on the blender with no top and the entire smoothie went everywhere? Just me? I’ll show myself out. 11 Link to comment

Fascinating to see that no matter how old or rich you are, the desire for sexy Halloween parties never dies /sarcasm. Ditto to Meredith's son being over the top. I'm sorry, but being gay does not give you free license to feign disgust at women's bodies. His announcement that he is a grounding influence right after joking about calling in their maid just to clean up Meredith's failed attempt to make a cocktail was something else. He's hogging screentime from women who are far snarkier and more entertaining than him, which I suspect is what's driving his dislike of Jen coming over so often. How is he supposed to craft his own storyline with Jen shouting about hookups and hospital smell, etc? Mary's story about her arranged marriage just squicked me out even more than I already was. I seriously wonder if grandma and Roger Sr were predators/sex traffickers and this forced marriage was to ensure Mary can never testify against him about what went on in the cult under his and granny's leadership. I don't know what makeup team came in for the talking head with Heather in the green dress, but she needs to bring them back. The semi-nude, strong brow, slicked hair look is on trend but is not flattering to her at all. She's probably still accustomed to trying to camouflage her boobs from when she was a Good Mormon, but the outfits she wears make her look boxy all over, which she is not. Her talking about how she worked so hard to shove herself into the box only for her husband to quit anyway just made my heart hurt so much. Edited November 22, 2020 by rozen 1 14 Link to comment

I also think people use the word "creepy" too much these days, it's becoming one of those words like "bullying" or "abuse," describing anything someone doesn't agree with. I don't get what that has to do with sex trafficking; not everything is about sex trafficking. I think it was more about grandma not wanting her husband to marry someone else and all that $$ they were collecting going to another family. 17 hours ago, LibertarianSlut said: So here’s something—Jen and Heather have a serious problem with the Mormon Church because black men weren’t allowed to hold positions of power until 40 or 50 years ago, but they have no problem going out of the way to celebrate the 1920s, a much more racist time in America’s history, when Klan membership was at a historic high? What I am saying is that Jen and Heather look like fools and hypocrites for embracing the 1920s while simultaneously rejecting a church because of its stance from half a century ago. They stated that they have problems with the past and race relations. I have a problem with their selective outrage, not with the 1920s. I think they think they’re being woke, but they just look stupid to me. Have them show me a church (or synagogue or mosque) that’s had historical staying power, and I’ll show them a religious institution that has set demographic limitations that would be considered inappropriate today. People from 40, 60, 100 years ago can’t be tasked with the social norms we hold today. A hundred years from now, maybe some other seismic shift will occur, and people will consider the practice of eating meat inhumane. Does that mean all meat-eaters across time should get written off? Because that’s how ridiculous their argument reads to me. And Jen thinking leaving Mormonism for Islam is a solution is very possibly a case of the cure being worse than the disease. My question is where the current Mormon church stands on race relations. Because I know for a fact that there are currently—in 2020—fairly significant intra-Muslim race problems between black and non-black Muslims in America. And Jen is ok with the way women are treated? And gay people? Where is Jen on this? Or did she just marry to a Muslim man and decide to convert to his faith and not grapple with the hard truths? I can’t with her. I just caaaaaan’t. Last night I saw Utah playing their first football game of the season, and I found myself hoping they would lose, just because it would be a burr under the saddle of Jen Shah. 6 Link to comment

So they shouldn't have a 1920's party because of the stuff that went on in the 1920's? Shit went on in every decade. 17 minutes ago, LibertarianSlut said: Or did she just marry to a Muslim man and decide to convert to his faith and not grapple with the hard truths? Shit went on in every decade. Agreed that shit went on in every decade. In my world, you go and have the 1920s party—because it’s not that deep—and you let bygones be bygones with a church that had a racial problem in the seventies, because shit did go on in every decade. I’m just stating that Jen and Heather haven’t let historical shit go with the church, yet they give the 1920s a pass and I think that’s inconsistent. I have a problem with neither the church nor the decade of the 1920s. I think the most logical thing is to have a problem with neither. Heather and Jen both said they left their churches because of racial problems that occurred before they were born, but they don’t hesitate to celebrate a decade with far greater racial problems. It’s their hypocrisy, not celebrating the decade, that makes me think less of them. Hopefully I’ve made my point clear...I can’t think of a better words to use to explain my position. I’m just going to let it go. 4 Link to comment

Why is Meridith's obnoxious son on this show giving order to his mother about what she can and cannot do and who is allowed to come into the house? Meridith looked a little embarrassed when he was issuing his orders. I have this to say about him. He is not clever or cute or funny and this show is not about the kids. THANK YOU!!! I’m also really loathing this smugly entitled little twat so far and it’s annoying the piss out of me that he’s getting fawned over online already and even getting his own talking heads. Should we expect any less of a kid who openly admitted to delaying going to college for a year just so he could “help around home”(aka shamelessly mug on his mommy’s new reality show like a pathetic leech)? I firmly agree that he’s neither cute nor funny/charming enough to be given this fame-whoring opportunity (that whole family acts weirdly semi-sedated on downers, quite frankly), so he can just take several seats behind his equally boring and vapid mother. beaker73 November 25, 2020 Share November 25, 2020 Yeah, Brooks—no one believes you took a semester off to “support your mom.” You’re there for reality tv and to try and launch your fashion line. This may be the worst show on Bravo. 19 Link to comment
65mickey November 25, 2020 Share November 25, 2020 (edited) I agree and it could have been so good. All of the beautiful snow and mountain scenes and we coud have seen real Mormon women. But no we are once again treated to drunk screaming women throwing drinks, fighting and using foul languag and a preacher woman who married her step grandpa so that she could inherit a church that bilks the congregation for personal gain. Nothing different from the other franchises with the exception of the preacher woman. Bravo seems to be hell bent on showing women at their lowest. Legalbeagle421 November 26, 2020 Share November 26, 2020 Here are my random thoughts for this very random show: Did Jen have her aunt walk her to the door to Heather’s house and then leave her outside? 😂 I felt bad for Heather when she was talking about her divorce but sounds like she got out of a pretty lonely situation. I can’t imagine marrying someone I didn’t love to please “the church”. But different strokes, I suppose! Has anyone else noticed Heather’s tongue is huge? It’s a weird observation but very distracting to me. Overall, I like her though. I hope she finds peace in her current station in life. Mary’s situationship is just so out there but I guess it works. Sounds like Heather’s (prior) marriage of convenience. I enjoyed watching her and Meredith together. I agree with Brooks that Jen was acting a fool but I highly doubt he actually saw anything. He doesn’t need to play hall monitor for his mom. Jen is going overboard about the Mary/Meredith friendship. (1) who cares; and (2) the person who makes the noise about other friends is usually the friend who gets dropped. This show is not good but I still find myself watching every week, so 🤷🏾♀️ 5 Link to comment

ichbin November 26, 2020 Share November 26, 2020 If Jen is trying to set herself apart from the rest by being extra, too bad the end effect is that of being one of the (if not THE) greatest poseur across all RH franchises. I have to ask if her squad was responsible for her talking head look in (red dress and large gold choker). If so, they must really hate her. Her face looks chiseled, her neck nonexistent, and her boobs ready to slip out of that satin atrocity and make their prime time debut. Speaking of talking heads, what did Whitney do to herself between filming the show and the TH where she is wearing the white dress with one slipped shoulder. Her eyebrows look like they are being pulled up by fish hooks. They seriously look a lot higher and more arched than can be attributed to just make up (which is atrocious, especially the dirty looking highlighter on the balls of her cheeks). So much to unpack with that scene at Mary's church. The parishioners alone were enough, but he whole thing with Whitney's father makes me uncomfortable. The man comes across as being somewhat fragile. Is putting him in a television show really in his best interest? I can see why Bravo would be happy to have him there, but why did his family allow it? At one point even Mary seemed taken aback by his reaction to the service. The blonde guy next to Meredith in the church looked like he would be interesting to see more of. The scenery is gorgeous though. Those mountains in winter look spectacular. I've only been in SLC for an airport layover during the summer. Nothing I saw from the aircraft window then would have prepared me to believe it could be so pretty there. 12 Link to comment

Straycat80 November 26, 2020 Share November 26, 2020 The thing with this franchise that’s different from the others is religion which I find somewhat interesting. I felt sorry for Heather talking about how devastating she was about being Mormon and getting divorced. Sounds like she was beating herself up and it wasn’t her fault. poor Lisa’s son, if he had crashed the car it would have been his nagging mother’s fault. They can get Brook off my TV ASAP. His vocal fry is like fingernails on a chalk board. And Jen did not have her vagina in your face you twit! And why is Meredith letting him tell YOU what do? He’s on this show for himself and his fashion line (?). And why was sister Chloe dressed like she was going to a club in the middle of the day? why does Jen have a glam squad of eight, eight! people? Ridiculous! I guess we have to listen to her rant on and on all season about her hate for Mary and the dis to her legless aunt comment. It’s already gotten waaaay too old. Marys ‘talk’ to her son about school was so awkward to watch, that poor kid was so uncomfortable with the cameras there. He needs to take acting lessons from Brook. Mary’s church reminded me of all the television evangelists I’ve ever seen on TV with everyone crying and all that crap. 16 Link to comment

Sage47 November 26, 2020 Share November 26, 2020 (edited) To me, a seven year old child casually mentioning porn is a sign of child abuse or neglect. When my son was seven he was playing with Hot Wheels, would never have known the word “porn” in a bazillion years! They should be investigated. They really like using the word vagina on here. Jen said it several times just trying to be oh so bold and cool, and then delicate little Brooksie said it too. Meredith’s daughter looks 18-going-on-35. Implants and all. Lisa’s house was in a completely normal subdivision. Guess they can’t recruit any good, and affluent Mormon women for this shitshow. This show remains the weirdest, and dumbest of all time. Yes, I’m watching to snark. But Heather’s story was very sad to hear. I hope she finds real love in this lifetime. Finally, Mary’s step-gramps calling her “Miss Mary”. Alrighty. And she sleeps with him? Mm kay. Yucky. This whole show makes me feel yucky. Edited November 26, 2020 by Sage47 3 Link to comment
For Cereals November 26, 2020 Share November 26, 2020 Still struggling to get into this franchise. I think Heather is maybe the most likeable. I could do without entitled Brooks. Save me your pearl-clutching. As someone said earlier, he’s not charming and he’s not a housewife. Jen is too much, Meredith meh, Whitney’s manner of speaking annoys me as does Tequila Lady’s. Mary is a hot mess. Aside from the crazy wigs, her marriage is creepy to me. It may not be trafficking but I think it was grooming at the very least. We’re not in the Middle Ages. It’s some Woody Allen/Morgan Freeman level mess to me. Yes everyone is grown now but it doesn’t make it right. Plus there’s the whole prosperity theology thing. I was trying to look past all that but it is part of her story. Guess I’m here for the snark too. 7 Link to comment

Ugh, he's the absolute worst. From what we've seen of Meredith and her husband's way of talking to her, it's clear where the son got this from, and the fact that Meredith just smiles and takes it, indicates that this dynamic has been playing out for many years. Meredith's absentee husband negs her. He makes little comments that are like little digs, designed to make her just this side of uncomfortable, and the pattern is for her to brush it off, move on to something else, and he waits for an opportunity to neg her again. This b*tchy son of hers is following the exact same pattern, and it's disturbing to watch. 3 13 Link to comment

Makes us wait with anticipation as she....drumroll.....can't wait to reveal her 20's outfit, assuming the entire viewing audience is chomping on popcorn, extremely eager with anticipation, as her 8-person glam squad allows us the pleasure of viewing her amazingness. From the strappy stilettos in the snow to her frozen-faced expressions and extensions, to her ridiculous OTT parties, there is not one remotely authentic thing about her. Mary: Oh my. Mary. Can someone please get this girl a wig that won't slide off? Lisa: Hoarse, fake, and oh-so-annoying. I wanted her son to unlock the car door while careening to his right, to allow her to slide on outta there. Heather: The only one who is remotely likable. A legit businesswoman, mother, and was-a-wife. Hopefully we'll hear more about their divorce, as I am remotely interested in her story. Whitney: Just. Not. Interested. In any of her pole-dancing story. Her dad is a sad person, who needs true help, not Mary's sing-and-heal cult version of therapy, but real, helpful, addiction specialists. 11 Link to comment
