I watched the sneak peek and oh my:  I gotta say this for Tim and Mayleeza:  They are a fantastic sleeping pill.  Deavan and Jihoon went to a park with thier kids, she met their friends and asked a bunch of questions she should not have asked.  Surprise!  Then she admits she went through his phone.  Trust issues, much?  It was 3am (hence the sleeping pll effect) so I am even sure I remember Sumit going to court.  Ari and Binyam - I really don't care about these two.  Kenny and Armando - they went to apply for a marriage license so he can obtain citizenship and get a job, but where will he work if he no hablo Espanol?

Deaven and Jihoon went to some park with a bunch of tents. I presumed she thought that it was a camp for the homeless. And she goes off and grills Jihoon's friends about him - snooping on his phone and finding some pictures of naked girls or something. Uh, yeah, Deaven, Jihoon's friends are going to fess up and tell you all his deep dark secrets and misdeeds. Wrong audience.

Tim and Melyza bored me. Don't know if he's talking to some counsellor or something. I wasn't paying attention.

Kenny, it may not be that easy to get a same sex marriage in Mexico, Armando's letter about why they should get married notwithstanding. It's not the US and you may run in to some obstacles.

I don't know if there is an application for Armando to come to the U.S. and if there is, then my understanding is he's not coming to the U.S. until that's decided (At least a friend of mine who is naturalized had her mother here, and when the mother was ill, the adult siblings wanted to visit her in the U.S., and they were told no.  Every sibling, and their spouse had applied to come to the U.S., so they couldn't even visit).

Good question.  I think that under normal circumstances, that's a possibility.  Right now, Covid restrictions are still in place, and regular tourist travel is not being approved for Mexicans to come to the USA.

Even without Covid border officials would be suspicious as to either Armando would return to the US.   About a decade ago, a friend from Chicago came to visit me in Canada and see a concert.  Then we rented a car and drive down to see a mutual friend in Michigan.  We got grilled at the border because we had passports from different countries.   I would think it would be even harder for someone from Mexico.

Having given birth thrice, I am going to cut her some slack. It’s the hormones. Certain commercials used to make me cry. Truth be told, “The come back to Michigan” ad which is narrated by Tim Allen gets to me every time.

So, it’s unlawful for same sex couples to get married in Mexico, but it’s against the constitution to deny them the right?! Talk about confusing.

WTF was Sumit planning on doing? This is a grown ass man. If he thinks he has to stay home and take care of her NOW then he's gonna love it in 15 years when she's probably going to really start needing him. 

This situation makes no sense. WHY don't they move to the US? Let's take a gander at the reasons why people normally live abroad with their foreign spouse:

Employment: they don't have jobs in either place so that's not holding them there. It's cheaper to live in India, but apparently not cheap enough to live on $400a month-which is apparently the best Sumit can do. (And that's being hired by a friend.) WINNER: it's a tie, they're not employable in either place

Family ties: Jenny, with a kid and grandkids, should win this one. Sumit has parents who seem to want to strangle him and won't accept his girlfriend and ex in-laws who want him dead. She has the stronger ties. WINNER: US

Love of country: Sumit has expressed zero patriotism. Forget the front door, Jenny's afraid to walk out of the bedroom door without him. This doesn't seem to be a case of "we love it here so much, we could never leave." WINNER: US (at least Jenny could go to Walmart)

Ease of marriage: One of them comes from a country that will literally grant fiance visas to couples who have only spent 5 hours with each other on a cruise stop, and the other is from a country where their parents literally have legal control over who they marry. WINNER: US

Money: they don't have any WINNER: US (at least Jenny can qualify for Medicare) 

Friends: his think he's crazy and will probably never accept them. At least hers thinks it's funny. WINNER: US

So why the hell are they not emigrating? I know someone is going to say that they'd need a sponsor but I 100% feel like her daughter would do it. She's already expressed her concerns and has said that she doesn't want her mom there. She also knows that her mom WILL stay there, it's not a mindless threat a la Nicole. IMO if Jenny asked her to sponsor them, she would. It would bring her mom back to the US where she's safer (not because India is inherently more dangerous but, because, JENNY) and around her grandkids. And she's been all over SM stating that she likes Sumit and doesn't have a problem with him.

Stay in a country where nobody likes you, you're afraid to leave the house, and your lies broke up a family and put another family deep into debt...or return to a place where people think you're an idiot but somehow love you anyway?

Yes, because it sounded like the abuse charges were a legal one and not necessarily law-breaking ones. Since he (and by "he" I mean Father Sumit) was able to pay the other family off those charges apparently went away. If they got brought up at all in the process he could easily explain them because he probably has receipts (them unfiling the complaints, for one). "My ex wife got mad that I cheated on her so she lashed out, tried to blackmail me, and demanded a huge settlement, which I paid" is a lot different than "I beat up 7 blokes after a Manchester United match... on 7 different occasions" (oh, Jon). Cultural issues won't really apply because the interview part will be with the American side where, oddly enough, cheating WITH the intended fiance is actually considered proof of relationship and looked upon favorably (helps prove the relationship isn't frauded).

Ari/Bini - Was only half watching, but did a double take when Bini outed Ari as a cutter (after catching up to her in the van when she grabbed Avi and fled the hospital). I re-watched the conversation 3 times, and even turned on closed captioning the last time to make sure I heard him correctly. IIRC, not long after arriving in Ethiopia, she was wearing a top that showed her upper arms, which looked like they had scars on them, but I don't remember actually hearing it mentioned before. 

In any case, Bini's comment made me consider that maybe Ari is more than just another special snowflake. Not saying she isn't still annoying  but for about a solid 30 seconds, instead of wishing she'd zip it already, I just wanted to give her a big hug.

Deavan/Jihoon - Denigrating Jihoon, whether it be based on fact or conjecture, to every single  work associate and friend she meets,  is incredibly mean-spirited, almost guaranteed to be counter-productive,  and just, well, in extremely bad taste, in general. We’ve talked before about Kenny learning Spanish...well, why didn’t Jenny try to learn some Hindi?   Summit said he can’t leave her alone because she doesn’t know the language...well, she can learn, as can all these idiots.  You don’t move to a foreign country without at least learning the basics...hello, goodbye, please, thank you, I am a fame hungry foreigner who can’t stand that your country has different norms than the US.

Out of curiosity I Googled "languages ranked in order of difficulty" and found a page listing how long it would take, in hours, for a native English speaker to learn a particular language. The list came from the Foreign Service Institute so we're talking about learning it well enough to, well, work in the Foreign Service.

We're right to dog Kenny for not knowing more Spanish, since it requires the least amount of study time (575-600 hours). And although I hate to cut Jenny or Ari any slack for anything, it takes quite a while to learn Hindi and Amharic (1100 hours). As for Deavan and Brittany, they shouldn't even bother: At 2200 hours, Korean and Arabic are among the hardest languages for native English speakers to learn.

I tried to learn Arabic myself a few years back, partially because I had students from the Middle East and partially because I'd read a long time ago that the only way the Qu'ran could truly be appreciated was in its native language and I was like: is that a dare? 😆  Today, I can say "hello", "peace be with you", "thank you", and some basic food items on a menu.

Brit - Father Brit has the same perma-grin that Brit does. I think she comes by it naturally and the faux (or at least not necessary) braces emphasize it. 

Ari - Honestly, this girl is ill-equipped to be an adult. She has no capacity to deal with minimal levels of stress, which likely is being exaggerated due to hormones...but I don't think that hormones and postpartum depression are the root of it.  Combine that with her entitlement and her view that only her feelings count, and we have a girl-child that melts down at every turn. I feel sorry for baby Avi and hope that a functioning adult helps her raise him, if not Bini. Also (and totally unrelated)...she has weird club fingers.

Excellent points made @mamadrama. Further, Jenny can still get a part time greeter job at Walmart. If they were a bit savvy the most they will couch surf at daughter's house is a year (or until Sumit can secure a job).

I wonder how much Sumit made when he was working at his call center job and if it was a legit job or one of those scammers who call and tell you that your social security number, credit card number, etc has been compromised and the police are going to arrest you.  If it was a legit job, I don't understand why they don't move closer there and have him working again.

But I agree with you that their best bet is going back to the US (Pre covid) and they really missed their chance.

As for the others.  I think TLC made a grave mistake with the hiatus.  We all know how Devon/Jihoon turn out and have a good idea about Ari/Bini.  I can just guess that Kenny is also back in the States and I don't give two shits about Cheesedick and Melyza.

I noticed this too. There used to be a newscaster on a local TV channel who had the same fixed tight grin no matter how horrible the news she reported. It’s disconcerting.
