Depends. My husband is a Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA). He took a 6 week course, 40 hours a week and a practicum. He works under the supervision of a nurse but I wouldn’t say it’s unskilled work. There is a licensing exam and licenses are subject to yearly or I yearly renewal depending on your state. He cannot administer treatments and medications but does a lot of direct patient care including feeding, bathing, moving patients who are bed bound and a lot of other activities of daily living. It is dirty and backbreaking work. He got the certification to do volunteer work so I don’t have direct knowledge of the pay but it is low - above minimum wage in our area but not by much.

If Angela and Lisa are nursing assistants in a hospice, they are doing a lot of hands on patient care. They are the ones bathing patients, which takes a very long time with people who are bed bound and in pain. They assist with toileting. They may feed patients who can’t eat on their own. They move them from bed to chair and back again if the patient is able to do that. They spend time interacting with families. They change a lot of soiled bed linens which is also not easy when the patient is still in the bed. I don’t envy them the job - it’s really hard work.

Isn’t it ironic that many of the hardest jobs are the lowest paid?  I worked at McDonald’s briefly as a teen and it was the hardest job I ever had.

I noticed they all are very made up.  Angela got heavier, and way too much makeup on.  Still puffing her brains out at 10 bucks a pack.  There’s so many segments for this show, I don’t know where and what to look for.  Very confusing.  I’m going to catch up on here, it’s easier.

I understand immigrating to the U.S for a better life and wanting a better life for your kids. What has me confused with Larissa is that instead of saving money to begin the application process for her kids , she spent it on bad plastic surgery. Larissa what do you mean you miss Colt? Colt doesn’t need to date anyone until he’s cut the umbilical. Debbie is so creepily possessive of Colt that no woman would stay with him. Larissa is a mess but I understand why she kept accusing them of having an incestuous relationship. Andrei people like you are why some people label immigrants as lazy. Get a damn job and stop demanding money from a family whom you continuously disrespect. If you want a wedding in Moldova then you should be an adult and pay for it.

Poor Low was wasting his breath with Ausuelu (sp). He doesn’t show any interest in being responsible for his family or even being respectful of his wife. Kilani and her parents need to leave him with both children for a week and lets see how easy it is for him.

How many siblings does Libby have? I knew there were 2 sisters but I never realized there were brothers. I always figured the guys hanging around were brothers in law, but today the name line showed that the 2 guys sitting next to the dad at the birthday were brothers.

Andrei is an ass and I'll never defend him, but Libby's sisters are a piece of work too. In the commercial for next week the sisters are going on about how they never want to go to Moldova, it's the most dangerous place on earth. Uh it's an Eastern European country -- while it's poorer than say Denmark where one of the brothers in law is from, it's not an unsafe, terror, violent crime type of country either. Do they think they're being asked to attend a wedding in Syria? Her family strikes me as a very 'Murica kind of family -- yet it's interesting that at least 2 of the sisters couldn't seal the deal with down home American guys and had to bring in "foreigners."

It really bothered me when Kalani & Asuelo parked at their house, and Asuelo just shot out of the car and went into the house alone, leaving Kalani to get both kids out of car seats, carry both of them, while Asuelo didn't even leave the door open.

Asuelo lost major points there.  Go play your video games and volleyball and pass out frozen yogurt samples.  But help your own child out of his car seat?  Not in Samoa, we don't.

Kalani and Asuelu: Girl, if you haven't already had a chat with your husband about reality and American life, please do so. Your dad did so in this ep, and told your husband to grow up. He is not a kid who can play videogames and volleyball. I do hope that he does have a real job. His not helping out with the kids in the car and just walking in the house was rude and disrespectful to you and the kids. They are his kids too. Maybe he needs a few talks to get over himself and realize that he is a dad and is responsible. He can take some night courses or online courses and upgrade himself to get a better job. This isn't Samoa and he does need to step up. Otherwise you are raising a young adult kid and two toddlers.

Andrei and Libby: How manufactured is this? Seeing them here and on Pillow Talk it is two different universes. Andrei, you are a young guy. You can work at a grocery store, learn to drive a forklift, do whatever. Yeah, childcare is expensive, but your wife and her family should not be footing the bill. Perhaps you should have told your family that they are expected to fork out money for a big, fat Moldovan wedding. Guess no one has actual food serving dishes - more foil containers of food.

Angela and Michael: I guess the last aig has now made its eggscape. That is a lot of house for 9 people and how are you all paying for it. Mother Angela looks really sick and at least her daughter can have her at home and care for her. Skyla should not be flying to Nigeria with her. Now some bizarre jealousy over some ring tone. People get wrong numbers or Mykull has found someone else, knowing full well that his American Dream has shrivelled - like the poor aig.

Colt and Jess: An au pair who is on a different visa, and one that is running out. How convenient that she met Coltee and has a thing for him! Coltee has a new girlfriend and one he is keeping secret from Debbie. She was kinda petting him like a cat or was it the other way around? No one ever seems to like someone on the show because they are kind, funny, caring, compassionate, have a good heart. All about arm candy and entitlement. Why would Colt be Jess' first choice? She has little idea that he is under his mother's control and that he is smothered by her. Coltee needs to move out, get his own place and make his own choices. Debbie is right that he is making the wrong ones - she is his soulmate and life partner. Let him go, let him make his own mistakes.

Larissa: Doing her community service hours - she doesn't like poopie. Who does? Her dream is to fall in love and bring her kids over - suuuuuuuure. Where did the money come from for all her plastic surgery and procedures? Her father? She envies strippers. Why don't you get some education and get a good job. Maybe a casino can hire her as a hostess. Having a friend who has been engaged 13 times is not a really good source for advice. And she misses Coltee and his teeny wienie. Which we did not have to hear about. Have no idea why she was not deported back to Brazil.

The “bringing her kids” to the USA is lip-service because that’s what biological mothers are expected to say, the children are being raised by others*. They likely know Larissa is their bio mom and they know who she is but they are being parented by other people. 

I don’t know how anyone could miss Colt. Besides maybe his cats, he’s likely good to them and no one else. 

 

*(I don’t think a woman is a devil incarinate because she doesn’t want to raise children, so long as the children are properly cared for somewhere safe with people who WANT to care for them that’s what matters, I judge her more for having her Dad as a caregiver than the child’s other parent)

Did that with my not simple hubby for years. Two kids under 2 is exhausting and he needs to help more, but work with him. "Honey, how about you play volleyball twice this week, and then I get to go to happy hour with friends Friday for a few hours. 

Also, was dozing off, but were all sisters Libby nursing babies in swim suits in previews? All for breastfeeding (totally a woman's choice), but no way in hell I'd do it on TV. Too many pervs.

I missed some of their original episodes but it’s like Kalani is on another planet. She has very high expectations without doing any constructive, communicative work. Asuelu seems sweet, sensitive but immature in a “He doesn’t know any better” type of way. She needs to communicate instead of seething and in a constant attitude. She chose him, she chose to have children with him.

I have 2 kids 10 months apart, they’re now 7.5 months and almost 18 months. If my husband walked away to leave me to get both kids out of the car??? Oh no, that would not fly with me. My toddler is a runner, so if I put him down on the street, chances are he would go and visit all our neighbors before going to our door. So carrying him inside is really our only option at the moment. 
 

i kind of feel bad for Kalani and auseulo and I kind of don’t. Maybe one baby was an oops, but don’t pretend you don’t know how birth control works. And they were already overwhelmed with the one baby, but then going to have a second baby when they were already having issues is not the smartest idea. And I’m not the kettle calling the pot black... my kids are adopted, and after we adopted the first, we got called that his birth mom was pregnant again and would we be willing. We really had to go back and forth on it, but the difference is we are both established in our careers, own our own home, can afford a second baby, and my husband always takes one kid out of the car and into the house.

It's her decision whether she wants to raise her children or not, that I agree with.  Some women do not have maternal instincts and realize that their children will be better cared for by other family members.  I agree with you 100 percent,  her words are saying that she wants to bring her children to the U.S but her actions are saying differently.  She might really believe the words coming out of her mouth and doesn't realize that her actions are telling a different story. Either way I hope she gets her heart's desire, whatever it maybe.

Andrei keeps saying Libby has promised but real life should show him it is not possible.

I don't have kids, but I know I'd be annoyed as hell if I spent all day caring for two small children and then had to constantly spoon feed requests for help to my grown husband.  

And I'd probably be at least mildly annoyed if I was in that situation with a guy who worked full time.  Ansuelu hands out yogurt samples PART TIME and acts like he was out all day on the railroads. 

Kalanis dad is right, ansuelu lives the life of a teenager.  He does his part time gig and then he plays video games and hangs out with his friends. 

That scene with the apple though.  Yikes. Just yikes. 

I don't know what kalani is going to do.  I think she is better able to get a higher paying, full-time job to financially support them, but I don't know if ansuelu would be able to watch them all day.  To me, this is what happens when you marry someone like ansuelu.....maybe he is not malicious and bad, he just doesn't seem like a good person to have a child with.

She said she missed the fact that he complimented her and she liked feeling like she was attractive to him. I thought I remembered that one of her major complaints when they were together was that he didn't compliment her enough, though, so who knows. I think she misses feeling like she has her green card in the bag.

Many families decide to have one parent be the stay-at-home, full-time caregiver and the other be the sole wage earner. I don't have a problem with that and I don't have a problem with it being Andrei to stay home if he and Libby had agreed on that together. I don't think they did. In fact, I think Libby anticipated that she would be a stay at home mom and Andrei would bring home the bacon. And Andrei certainly doesn't have any standing to insist that Libby's father pay for a second wedding anywhere, though I understand why he wants and Moldovan wedding and baptism for his daughter.

I would be too BUT - if my expectations aren't being met, it's on me to verbalize that clearly to my spouse. I think that there are sufficient differences in expectations between Kalani and Asuelu that they both need to communicate clearly what they want and need. For example, Kalani complained multiple times about Asuelu going to volleyball but instead say "I need one night off a week to see my friends/read a book/go out for coffee/etc. where you take care of the kids." Have the over-involved sister babysit one or two nights a month so they can go on a date night. Tell Asuelu that you'll get one kid to bed and you need him to put the other one to bed. It's pretty straightforward.

I also don't think that Asuelu is as "simple" as he is portrayed on the show. I think he and Kalani are both quite clear on who their characters are on this show and they play them well. They know what side their bread is buttered on.

Much of this is producer driven for ratings.
The birthday party for dad for instance, delivered food, etc., paid for and set up by TLC with the understanding that Andreeeeeiiii will bring up the controversial Moldovan wedding.  The life lessons while simpleton son in law eats an apple, complete with expression close ups. Coltee noisily sucking on his date for the cameras attached to the car. Etc etc. I take most of it with the understanding it’s edited for entertainment and reaction.

However.... Larissa is Larissa whether cameras are rolling or not. Selfish, violent, hot tempered, nasty, irrational, etc,etc. My only consolation is that she once was a pretty girl but is  systematically ruining her looks. 

And Angela is Angela. All sweetness and light until that dreaded ringtone. OMG! Then all hell breaks lose.  Michael needs to find a couple of Nigerian wives and settle down and have lots of children and as many ringtones as he likes.

I think Family Libby is hoping/auditioning for their own spinoff, a la Family Chantel.  Libby’s got some acting experience and they are SO different on Pillow Talk. 
Asuelu is such a child.  I can’t imagine being attracted to such a childlike man, turns me cold. 
Unpopular opinion, but watching back the Colt and Larissa stuff, I think Larissa is much more awful than I thought the first time around.  Colt is a jerk, but so are lots of people. I don’t really think he and Debbie are all that weird this time around.

I think that Larissa, slipped up and said the REAL reason she was missing Coltee.  She said that Eric wouldn't PAY for anything.  Apparently, Colt did pay for some things that she no longer gets.  But, perhaps the real reason people like Larissa miss someone, is because they enjoy control and raging.  I think she enjoyed the fighting with Coltee and Debbie. If not for the rage, she has a very flat personality.  I hope that Colt is not addicted to that kind of thing. It's not healthy.

I hope the show takes a hard look at how they handle the Asuelu situation.  He appears to be a vulnerable adult. All the putdowns by his wife and FIL needs to stop.  He may be doing the best he can.  They may be afraid to get him evaluated,  but, they need to.  Their goals may not be within his capacity to meet. There is no way that his wife and her entire family did not see this BEFORE they got married, let alone had two children.  It's really sick, imo.   I feel they are taking advantage of this young man.

Do I remember correctly? She criticized everything he did when he first got here.  He wasn't holding the baby correctly, etc., etc., etc.

If that's true, she trained him to be the way he is.  I wonder how many times she corrected the way he took one of the kids out of their car seat.

Colt said that Jessica had contacted him which further fuels my suspicions that she either watched the show and decided it could be a way to stay in the US (and be on TV!) or production found her at Central Casting and set up the whole thing.

When I was Angie's age I was STILL getting my period.  Didn't totally stop until I was about 56.  No cancer there at all.

 

A friend of mine's mom just died and she said her mom was her best friend.  I didn't think anything was wrong with that.  I have friends who hate their mothers, and that's sad IMO.  I think the problem with Colty is that he doesn't seem to have ANY friends outside of his mother.

I didn't even recognize Larissa, she looked TERRIBLE, very "joker chic."  I always thought Eric was a famewhore who wanted to be on TV.

 

I think the difference is that Ang said she hadn't had her period in two years then all of a sudden got it. That could be a cause for concern. 

I'm 54 and there is no way in hell I'd want to be pregnant now. I loved being pregnant and had great pregnancies, but I'm done. I can't imagine having a child entering Kindergarten when I'm 60! Yikes. 

I still think we need to have a BGL and Grangela cage match. That would be all kinds of awesome.

Reality TV is extremely lucrative for networks so a family trip to Moldova is nothing.  I hope they do it so long as they remember audiences are interested in seeing other countries and cultures along with the contrived drama.

Nope, she’s had that for a while but it’s often covered up by her phone, keys, money, tissues, receipts, coupons, lottery tickets*...that she shoves into her ample cleavage

In one of the previews for the season, it appeared that Libby and Andrei were in a foreign country 

And Colt and Jess were shown on a Chicago River boat tour

Per the previews it looks like they already made the trip. 

 

I think most of what Andrei does is manufactured for drama BUT it was nice that he said he wanted Libby's dad to pay for the wedding because he paid for all of her sisters' weddings, he didn't pay for his and libby's and libby deserves the wedding of her dreams.

I can't find the question now, but somewhere someone was asking about how many siblings Libby has. She's the youngest of TEN! (From Chuck's two marriages, I believe) I think the ones we've seen (Becky, Jen, Charlie and Michael ?) are her full siblings.
