Danny and Baez didn't check the neighboring buildings' cameras in the beginning?

I think Frank's inner circle of three acting like a bunch of big babies was something I didn't need to see.  And, Garrett didn't care about the potential PR damage Sid could do and just hung up on him?   You can't just jump in and do somebody's job for a day without knowing what they do. It's ridiculous.  

I liked Frank and Jamie's talk in his office.

And I liked Jamie saying that Eddie was describing herself when describing Erin.

Really. No dress shopping, cake tasting, menu and music decisions? It would have been fun seeing Jamie loosen up a bit and have fun with it (except the dress shopping of course). And then there's the rehearsal dinner. Nobody but family at one lonely table, that was disappointing, too.

Rant:  Those morning suits with cravat were hideous.  Did the wedding seem like something Eddie would want?  It was so formal, it almost looked like a royal wedding.  Why were they married by the archbishop?  Why not their parish priest?  How can they keep their marriage a secret with a wedding like that?  How long has Eddie's partner known about them?  This whole story pissed me off.  If they were going to go there with Jamie and Eddie why not do it somewhat realistically?  And why did they use the term "Jamko" on the show?  I never thought this was a fan service kind of show.  Ugh...just ugh..

I know.  They are traditionally worn with morning suits.  My father wore one when he and my mother got married.  But these ones were so big and puffy! They just looked off.

They also wore them at my wedding.  Think it's a personal style preference if they are worn wide apart or as in my husband's case, pretty much overlapping.

That was for their reception.  Church was always given for the ceremony.

I loved the morning suits and cravats and had no problem with the rehearsal dinner.  I never believed a rehearsal dinner should be a mini-reception.  It should just be the immediate family and bridal party.  

I was very disappointed that we saw so little of  the wedding.  We waited a long time and I think we deserved to see more of it, e.g., the actual exchange of vows, the kiss and even the first dance.   

Erin is and always has been a total bitch.    I wouldn't miss her for one second if she took a job in another state and moved away or was kidnapped by aliens.

TV always taught me that the rehearsal dinner was indeed a mini reception. It wasn't until I went to a friend's wedding that I learned that it was just for the bridal party, so I'm glad the show got that right.

Same here. And once again demonstrating how unhealthily close this family is, doesn't Jamie have any other male friends he'd like to be a groomsman?

It was very sweet of Edit to ask Frank to walk her down the aisle, but it feels like a rip-off of Charles doing that for Meghan.

Nothing in the episode about how the wedding will affect Jamie and Eddie working together.  Obviously, her partner who was at the wedding knows about them.  I would think the entire station knows.  When the Police Commissioner's son and the daughter of a well-known criminal figure get married -- officiated by the cardinal, no less --  that would have been all over the wedding announcements in the NY Times and other NY City newspapers.   I expect the officers in the station would be really po'd that they have been kept in the dark about the relationship.  It doesn't exactly engender respect in Jamie's leadership.

Of course Frank walked her down the aisle in a last second decision.  Why didn't they discuss this beforehand?  If she had planned on doing the out of the box thinking of walking down by herself, why not the out of the box thinking of having her mother walk her down the aisle?  (I know, because she's a Reagan now.  No wonder Erin's husband divorced her.)

So now that it can be told...I crashed a TV wedding.  Well, not really.

Since I know people in the cast and crew and I was in town the week they were filming, I got to go into church after Tom had done his scenes for the day.  I couldn't see much of the filming itself (it was the scene with Grandpa,  Jamie, Danny and the archbishop talking) but the church was beautiful and Vanessa looked stunning in her dress.  Since I'm a sucker for a man in a suit, Donnie and Will looked great. Will's mom was there as well and you can see where he gets his looks from (someone cracked to her that "her son was finally settling down.")   

This was also the first big guest starring role for the actress who played Rachel (first murder suspect) so it was nice to see her talking with Donnie and Marisa about acting and the pair giving career advice.  She was pretty excited in being there and for the opportunity.  This was on the Monday before the renewal was announced so people were slightly antsy about hearing news even though it was close to a done deal at the time. 

They were supposed to wrap on April 10th, but only ended the week after as Tom had some MINOR surgery done (and for those who may ask, he's walking fine) and had to miss a few days.  

Now as for those disappointed about the wedding...I guess they figure the vows they had at the dinner table last year was already done and no need to rehash it.  Though I do agree that Eddie had no maid of honor/bridesmaids and was just...alone.

Well that makes sense as it's pretty indicative of the fact that everyone who joins this family is expected to give up their identities/lives/relationships and focus on the family business. Who needs friends/other relatives/other people when you have the Reagans? In-laws don't even get a Sunday to themselves as everyone is expected to go to church with the Reagans, have Sunday dinner with the Reagans and basically spend the rest of the day bumming around the Reagan manor. Every single week. And they'd better like it. I remember Nicki complained about being shackled to this schedule in one episode and Erin completely guilt-tripped her until, of course, Nicki changed her mind. She also guilt-tripped her out of going to an out-of-state college, accusing Nicki of just wanting to get away from her. And this was after Nicki again complained about wanting to spread her wings and get some space from this claustrophobic family. I mean, how dare the girl try to have her own life? Didn't they all go on vacation TOGETHER once for TWO WEEKS and stay in neighboring beach houses too? You can't escape these people. I know they wrote it that Linda (RIP) was conveniently not close to her own family, (and of course neither is Eddie) so she had no reason to want a life for herself on a Sunday, but I can't help but wonder if she didn't resent being expected to be there every single Sunday, Thanksgiving and Christmas. So it makes perfect sense that Eddie was alone and escorted up the aisle by Frank. This is her life now. Her whole life.

I find it very surprising and unrealistic that none of the kids have ever complained about this expectation, especially as they've gotten older. They've never had a boyfriend/girlfriend/friends they'd rather spend a Sunday with? Or a big exam to study for or a project to work on? (Though I cut them a teeny bit of slack on that one, because you need to eat regardless)

I'm glad they don't hate each other like so many other TV families, but they spend WAY too much time together--dinner every Sunday, Frank and Erin have lunch every Wednesday, Saturday game night, and we rarely, if ever see them hanging out with people they're not related to.

Or a job. It's highly unlikely that given Linda, Danny, and Jamie's professions (nursing and police work, respectively), that they'd always get Sunday afternoon/evening off. And if they're pulling strings so that they can, that's something incredibly improper and unfair to their co-workers who surely want to have Sunday dinner with THEIR families.

Interestingly enough, this entire Eddie vs Erin fight could have been avoided if Janko had been wearing a body cam when she was interviewing the witness. According to articles I've read, all NYPD patrol officers have been equipped with body cameras as of the beginning of this year. It will be interesting to see if this show incorporates body cams next season. A lot of their story lines revolve around officers saying or doing one thing and witnesses/suspects saying the officers did something else. All that goes away if the officers are wearing body cams. It could force the writers to come up with new stories, instead of recycling the same ones over and over again. The Rookie features officers wearing body cams so it can be done, but the writers on this show are such hacks they will probably go on pretending body cams don't exist.

Case in point, in this episode they spent the first half explaining that the ex-girlfriend had to be the killer because according to the building's camera, she was the only non-resident to enter the building. Only we come to find out that the real killer did indeed somehow enter the building in a manner that was never explained. Typically horrible Blue Bloods writing.

I like that Eddie asked Frank to walk her down the aisle, and I loved her reason.

My memory isn't what it used to be but I'm pretty sure they had an episode about body cameras.  I don't remember the details but I think it was the one that Frank had to talk a woman into giving up the video she took on her cell phone from the window.   The body cam didn't get the the "big picture" of the incident, a physical altercation between an officer and a civilian.  If that was a body cam related scenario it's not surprising that the writers dropped the ball for continuity in this episode.

Hmmmm. If they're going to pay the actress to be there and bother to feature her, why not make her a bridesmaid? Why not have Erin be a bridesmaid as well? She has always been shown as close with Jamie and it would add some tension to the whole plot about the witness and their changing story. It just seems like lazy writing unless they actually want to send the message that women will always be secondary in the Reagan family and that marrying a Regan man means surrendering any individual identity of your own.

Based on all available evidence from how the writers handled it this season they haven't given any thought to that at all and will just keep half-assing it next season.

Yeah this another example of why I'm always a bit of a Debbie Downer when people ask for the wonderful secondary characters to be featured more. Part of the reason we love them so much is that they do a lot of work themselves with line delivery, reactions, etc. When they are featured they have to deal with the same bad writing that the leads are saddled with and a lot of the magic is lost.

speaking of, how come I never know when this show is filming? There are always signs up about something or another in the neighborhood but I never see anything about blue bloods! The deuce takes over about 8 blocks on a fairly regular basis. They just filmed Power and there have been a bunch of movies. But the one damn show I actually want to see filming, and I never know. 😝

I agree. I thought the rehearsal dinner was usually just for family and the wedding party (bridesmaids and groomsmen).

The original plan was for Eddie to walk herself down the aisle, than at the last minute she was worried about tripping and falling and decided she wanted Frank to walk her down the aisle.

Off topic-I spent two years in New York when White Collar was on and I was really hoping to see Matt Bomer in person, but it didn't happen. -Back on topic

M*A*S*H did a fantastic episode where the officers and enlisted switched roles for a day (except for medical duties) and I was really hoping this would be more like that, but they didn't really have the time to fully develop it and show how hard each job is/what each person actually does all day.

There’s a website called on location vacations (@olv on Twitter) that gets tips from people as to where shows are filming. Blue Bloods film their interiors in Greenpoint.

Thanks for this. I know they shoot at the navy yard but exteriors and church scenes are filmed in bay Ridge. I live 4 blocks from ‘Frank’s’ house and walk past it every day with the dog. I’ll have to check out that web site and see if I can be around when they’re back in the area 😀

That’s a lovely area. I did a Christmas lights bus tour this past December  (which I’m sure you hate,lol) and we stopped at the Reagans. We were able to get out take pics.

I liked Anthony’s little speech/words of warning to Eddie. He really has a good take on the family. 

I thought  that Frank might have been a bit warmer to Eddie’s mother. She’s the only family Eddie really has and it would have been nice if he had a conversation with her that made her feel that she wasn’t losing a daughter,  but gaining not just a son in law but an extended family. Why not offer her an invite to an occasional Sunday dinner?  But I guess she’s still considered an outsider.

Can someone confirm? Bay Ridge seems more likely, since it's a much bigger church and BB does so much filming around there. (Tangent: the second one--St. Patrick's Old Cathedral--is where Martin Scorsese was an altar boy.)

For a pretty short scene, they were there most of the day with a lot of breaks.  The cast had to be there by 930 am, Tom had left by 2 and they wrapped just before 7.

That's their "normal" church where they do more exteriors (so you're not wrong!) but I guess they wanted something more grandiose for this one.  The Old Cathedral was also used for the episode in 2012 surrounding Frank's friend who died of 9/11 related health reasons.

Excellent idea to have the Ice Queen move (or be abducted), but she must, must, must take the uber annoying Nikki with her.
