I don't understand why Sunny was so uncomfortable about people being banned on facebook for their dangerous rhetoric.

I have a niece who was banned from Facebook at least TWO YEARS after I would have banned her.  She has become a Nazi sympathizer...and that's the least of it. We're all afraid of her.

I thought the same thing!!  Sunny's family is from Puerto Rico and Anna from Nicaragua.   Maybe I'm making a wrong assumption, but were they  picked to cook with Sanchez because they are latinas?  I thought  it would have been interesting to make Abby and MM do the cooking with him.

I like Rebel Wilson 🙂  She makes me smile.  They are more or less the same size physically but the difference between her and MM seemed striking to me - attitude, clothes, style.

It is frightening that so many people rely on facebook for news as a country we are in big trouble.

If I see a news story on FB I immediately look at the source.  If it is a web based or god forbid FB based source I will most likely not click on it.  Washington Post, NYT or something like that I will read the story.

PKitty corrected that already.  Here's another thing they didn't realize.  Aaron does NOT know what a true taco is.  A tostada consists of ingredients on a fried flat corn tortilla, as he said.  A taco CAN be a soft corn tortilla (and most fish tacos are), but taco ingredients are also put into a soft corn tortilla AND fried hard and crispy.  I'd bet most tacos in America (and Texas, where Aaron was born) are hard.  Even Taco Bell gives one a choice, Aaron.  (Unusual for Meghan to NOT jump in and correct the guest.)

Aaron gets very nitpicky about how to name things.  On CHopped - a show where you have 30 minutes to make a dish out of random ingredients - he once corrected a contestant who made a mole sauce.  Because  a mole sauce can NOT be made in a short time, it has to be simmered and stirred for HOURS.  Anyway - he tends to have his "AUTHENTIC" ideas about what food is called, and does not accept any other ideas.  He can be insufferable that way.

Post from @pinguina:

I know that I knew this about Anna, but it didn't hit me until now, when I read this.  I wonder how Anna felt when Meghan and Joy had their last big blow-up about the refugees and new acting head of Homeland Security, Kevin McAleenan wanting to try to assist those refugees before they flee their countries, and Meghan said with such horrible disdain "We should give houses to Nicaraguans?", like the entire population of Nicaragua consists of horrible criminals.  I would imagine that Ana was pretty put out about that!  Granted, there are HUGE problems in Nicaragua (hence, why people are trying to get out), but trying to help the good people of the country make their country somewhere they want to live isn't such a bad thing.

I hope Meghan took a page from Diane Sawyer. Facts can be presented in a calm, and clear manner. Discussion of those facts, and concerns,  questions, personal observations about the presentation of information, plus lively debate, about , ( here is that word again!) , differing views on the presented subject, can be exercised without raising your voice and disparaging all people who may be expressing an opposing view on the information presented. Insinuating and/or perpetuating the dissention from your viewpoint into a personal attack on you, all conservatives and all republicans minimizes everything she says. That is unfortunate as it diminishes what the show is trying to accomplish and truly is making a real life caricature of Meghan herself. I hope that is not what she is really trying

From what I remember from this morning, she asked for clarification from Sunny on possession, because they were discussing how viewing it wasn't technically a crime or something to that effect? The last thing she said in response to Sunny was acknowledging that possessing it / having it on your computer is a crime as well as distribution.

Regarding tacos, tostadas:

Tacos can have a hard shell or a soft one.  Can be filled with chicken, beef, pork (or for my vegetarian niece - tofu or meat substitute 🙂 ).

If it is rolled it is a taquito.

A tostado is a flat, fried corn tortilla with a lot of stuff on top - what you'd like is at your discretion.

*Don't mean to be critical but the plural is tamales, the singular is tamal.

Maddie Corman is the actress.  Jace Alexander (actor son of actress Jane Alexander) is her pedophile husband who received 10 years probation.  They've been married 21yrs and are still together.  We didn't learn how they worked out where the children lived while he lived with his wife (whose off-Broadway play "Accidentally Brave" is still running).

Especially his own name.  Unless it includes three "A"s spoken as one, fourteen rolled "R"s. and a sliding "on" with the appropriate accents, he won't even acknowledge you.

I defy anyone to make either of those two competing dishes.  They gave no directions whatsoever. All they did was cackle over each other.  What a flustercuck.

Megan is a liar and says inflammatory things to smear her cohosts when she is losing the argument. For example: when says that Democrats are the party of infanticide, she says things that are not true all the time.  She wants to win an argument and not actually try to engage with the ladies in the exchange of ideas.

I would disagree, and I think the exchange between her and Sunny this week is a good example of how Meghan looks like a bitch even when she's right. It would be one thing if you couldn't just disagree with her without getting nasty -- even I wouldn't defend her if she were that thin-skinned -- but I can understand her being frustrated and airing out that frustration with snark or being snide when she's basically stating a fact or making a point that the other hosts would rather ignore, if they knew it in the first place. Sunny is going to sit there and suggest Barr is defending the President from justice when the last two AGs were held in contempt of Congress for not honoring a subpoena, plead the fifth to avoid testifying before Congress, and punted on making an executive decision on an investigation to the FBI, respectively. Again: have your side, have your team, but give me a break with this "I'm concerned about transparency" bullshit.

Oh, and not to get too OT, but an uncharitable representation of a position is not the same as lying. There was a bill introduced in the Senate that would state that babies born alive even after an attempted abortion would have all the rights of a legally recognized person, and Democrats voted against it. The alternative is....

On 5/3/2019 at 10:51 AM, heysmilinstrange said:

But Sunny regularly says she's pro-life, which wouldn't endear her to most liberal watchers of The View. She also talks about being an extremely jealous partner and doing classic 1950s housewife things like wearing makeup to bed. I think in one episode she expressed discomfort, even anger, at the idea that a high school would make condoms available to students. None of these positions make her look particularly liberal.

Outside of abortion, none of those are hot button political issues, either. And my guess is Sunny's pro-life position is more personal than political.

On 5/3/2019 at 10:56 AM, CynicalGirl said:

So Meghan should be excused because she's not a liar, she's just dumb? That's funny.

It's also not what I said. Meghan be wrong on certain facts or I can disagree with her opinion. I think Sunny lies or clams up when she has to take a position the left wouldn't like, which makes her way more clock-able as a host -- meaning I pretty much know what she's going to say before she says it -- and she comes off like a phony.

On 5/3/2019 at 11:27 AM, RHJunkie said:

You can't say 'at least Meghan has her own opinions unlike Sunny' but then also acknowledge that Meghan consistently represents a certain group and can't be as balls and strikes as she likes. You can't be representative of the opinions of millions of people across the country and still wholly represent your own opinions and not push party talking points. It's just not possible and to suggest both is contradicting.

Actually you can, and it's really not a big contradiction unless you're only focusing on Meghan's role. Talking points beget talking points. I get Meghan is politically conservative, so there are certain principles she's going to agree with and others she won't. That's not what I'm talking about when I say she'd probably like to be more neutral than she can. Ideology is fine, but this show is about current events. Your side isn't always going to be in the right, even if you generally agree with them. As I've said, I've seen Meghan criticize Republicans and break with the conservative position. OTOH, Joy, Whoopi, and Sunny seem to equate being liberal with always defending their side, or pretending like inconvenient facts about their side don't exist. As a result, Meghan has to pull double-duty: she has to not only be the person to level out the conversation as a matter of fairness, but she has to discuss her opinion as well.

Unless you provide examples that demonstrate a pattern, I can't really do anything with your comments that suggest that she intentionally withholds her legal expertise with respect to information that could be seen as defending Trump.  You also haven't touched on examples of her lying.

I could provide plenty of examples, actually, but they would be OT, so I stick to recent things. But I have mentioned where Joy said Clinton was impeached for a sexual escapade when he lied under oath. Abby mentioned it, Sunny sat silent.

I think it's absolutely fair for you to take the position that since Meghan is heavily criticized here, you would rather focus on addressing your concerns with Sunny as a host. However, this position isn't a

carte blanche to be contradicting. Making accusations and not providing a single example (let alone a pattern of examples) to substantiate what you're saying is not really contributing to a genuine discussion. People can't see your points if you aren't really saying anything to substantiate your points. You can criticize Sunny without comparing her to Meghan so to constantly bring Meghan into your discussions when it comes to criticisms against the other women on the panel obviously has a purpose to your argument. There is a bias to your argument that I think you're going out of your way to imply doesn't exist when it very clearly does. You are flippant to the examples that contradict your statements and you push forward anyway so it's an agree to disagree situation here because I think you're highly contradicting for the sake of criticizing the 'liberals' at the time, particularly Sunny but I'm sure you'll probably disagree with that and you're absolutely free to do so.

Like I said, most of my comments on this show come with specific examples. I'm not going to kid anybody like I don't see what's going on -- people hate Meghan because she's a Republican and kind of a smartass, and I think many people try to act like her mien is the issue, but it's mainly her politics, and people leave Sunny alone because she's polite-company and mostly liberal. I agree robust conversation from both sides, but I dislike when it seems like people are seeking popularity and validation as opposed to being themselves. I don't think Meghan wants to be the de facto villain of the show, so I sympathize to some degree, but I also think she's acquiesced to it, so I think we're in for more shady comments like what she said to Joy a few weeks ago and her comments to Sunny this week about looking at her.

Great way to throw Ana and Abby under the size 12 bus!

Not to get too far OT, but Ana and Abby get a reprieve from the mob because they hate Trump. Even though, to be honest, it's people like them that cause people like Trump to ascend. Had one of the "honorable" "decent" men they supported (Huntsman, Jeb, Mitt) and we can throw McCain in there too, had the balls to fight for their side a bit more, instead of trying to be the Good Guys all the time, the GOP wouldn't have been usurped by the first guy who seemed to have a pair of balls and didn't mind mixing it up. So they can be conservative all they want, and they can complain about Trump all they want, but they're cowards and they support cowards...which is why they have to put up Trump now.

Abby, like McCain, says she doesn't support Trump, but spends every day defending him. The only way the two are different is that McCain acts disgusting, rude, and unprofessional. Abby has manners and uses her inside voice. The hate McCain receives is entirely her due and actually has less to do with her political opinions than it would appear.

Yes, when I think of a smartass, I personally think of a Bill Maher, and I love listening to intelligent people who have different views. It helps me learn and understand better. My issue with Meghan is her rudeness, not her politics. She fancies herself a political genius, and she talks down to people who are brighter, older, and more accomplished on a daily basis. Frankly, I'd find it quite boring to watch five women with identical views talking every day. I like contrast and respectful debate. Meghan is incapable of it.

I think jailing is state-by-state.  Picturing arrest/jail when the child is an actual child is easier.  Some states have a 2 year rule for sex.  The teens have to be within 2 years of each other and neither one can be 18.  Something like that.  Teens and selfies is definitely state-by-state.

I don't know if it's still true today, but at one point a girl under the age of 18 could send a topless pic of herself to her boyfriend and she could be arrested for distributing child porn and he could be arrested for having it.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.  I'm of the opinion that kids should refrain from that stuff simply because it can do them no good now and can harm them in the future.  Who wants such a photo popping up when you're trying to get into a competitive college, applying for that great job, going to court in a custody dispute, or running for office?

Yep, RealHousewife!  This is one of her mortal sins.  She has a myriad of venials.

I do agree that Sunny does not push back enough on Whoopie when she says stupid stuff like how she should get her money back for health insurance that she does not use. I think Sunny has realized that Whoopie is ignorant and will only get offended if you try to correct her on her facts.

I hope Whoopi was thankful for that insurance she "didn't use" after almost dying from Sepsis.
