I'm late to the party, but again, gosh, poor Gabe!

Granted, he did sound a little full of himself in the couch session with his sisters, but look at this way: if he doesn't stand up for himself in that crazy family, who will?

He very clearly laid out his valid reasons for wanting to stay in Vegas, as I'm sure he'd done off-camera with Janelle too. But with Kody and the others around, Janelle said he was "quiet." That's because he knew the only kids' opinions that mattered were "Guess where I just got into college!" and "I cried tears of joy when  I saw the trees!"  Then his mother tries to win him over with "But....camping!" I felt insulted for him.

Does anyone else remember, waaaaay back when they first moved to LV, that Kody & Janelle went camping?  In Las Vegas??  Actually, it was in Lake Las Vegas, a bit out of town, but that's the little getaway that Janelle wanted with Kody.  Camping.  In Las Vegas.  It happens!

And the nights are cold as hell and you have to check your shoes and sleeping bag for scorpions!

(Been camping there.)

I just saw this episode and I have to say that Meri was so awful. Ugh!  There is no way that she can blame editing for how negative she is.

Just watched this. As pretty as Aspyn is, she sure seems vacant. And has zero heat with Mitch. The wedding planning seemed like 2 strangers picked at random to plan an overly elaborate event. I had to turn it off.

I have to agree.  Aspyn just looks to Mitch before really saying anything.  She seems so ready to defer to his opinion on everything.  It's like she's a 16 year old going steady with her first crush.  I wonder if she ever dated before?  If Kootie was Christine's first date, maybe not.

It just blows my mind, even with alllllll their tlc money, they can afford to carry 4 (3 now) houses in LV, house rentals in Flagstaff, plus did they buy Robin a temporary house (???) PLUS the land PLUS the new builds. Who. The. Fuck. Is. Giving. Them. All. These. Loans??? And how the hell can they even afford the LV house mortgages and their current rentals alone?? Kody was just talking about a failed business venture with their “ business partner” being one of the reasons they couldn’t help Meri with the B&B loan (even if that whole scene was bs). This would be ridiculous for any other tlc family but especially one that “needs” 4 flipping houses!

How, with all their bankruptcies and other dodgy deals did they ever get loans. What could their credit scores be? It does not pass the sniff test!

I know, I really expected more from Aspyn, but to tell the truth she isn't acting all that different from her mother with Kootie.  Christine is maybe a little more assertive, which comes with age, but she is always deferring to her husband, at times hanging all over him like a teenager with her first crush, and defending him just to keep his favor.

Sad that she's her mother's daughter by the way she acts.  Well, Mariah aka Pudge is snotty like Meri, so I suppose it's not surprising that Aspyn is becoming Christine.

She is young and in love. I can't fault her for acting as such. People have mentioned how often she looks at him when she speaks during their talking head scenes, but I've noticed that he looks over at her quite a bit as well. And as we have no evidence that he is a creep, I'm not willing to paint him with that brush.

I think sometimes people get a bit oversensitive to anything that may seem like a woman is deferring to a man, especially when it comes to polygamist relationships, or ones that are plg-adjacent, lol. Men do have the right to their opinions. Relationships are all about compromise, and sometimes one partner has to concede to the other. Obviously there has to be a balance, and if one person always get his/her way, then yes that is not a good or healthy relationship. My husband and I certainly go toe-to-toe on occasion - sometimes he wins, sometimes I do, and sometimes we find a compromise.

On the face of it, I see nothing wrong with a woman looking at her partner with love in her eyes. Women do have a tendency to be more emotionally demonstrative than men. As long as he returns the love and they treat each other with respect, it's all good. Time will tell, of course, and if I'm wrong I will be the first to admit it!

You can't nag someone into wanting you, which is what Meri seemed to be doing to Kody this entire trip. Her pointed comments, asking him to put his arm around her, passive-aggressive comments about loving her, etc. I'm sure many of us have been in one of those relationships, where the other is more into it than we are. Nothing kills affection faster than a desperately needy partner. Such a turnoff. I was rolling my eyes with all of her pathetic jabs at Kody, said with the intent for him to start loving her again. It's never going to work, Meri. He's dead inside towards you. Accept it and move on. You're embarrassing yourself.

I was literally cringing with second-hand embarrassment for her.  I was grateful that the camera faded and her pointed question of "which bed do you want?" went unanswered.

@lma

thank you for the compliment.

I can’t speak for the redheads you’ve met, but for me, reasons to hate being a redhead include the discomfort of unwanted attention and stares, having to combat negative stereotypes, the pain and loneliness of childhood bullying, the emotional trauma of that bullying resulting in clinical anxiety, antisocial behavior and/or depression, the struggle with anesthesia, the 5 minute direct sun limit for not burning, freckled translucent skin... just to name a few.

Just once I’d love to blend into the woodwork and NOT stand out in a social environment.

I’ve  met several people who didn’t want anything to do with me because of my red hair-they had already made up their mind about me because of the color of my hair.

So, for some of us natural redheads, it’s more of a painful curse than a blessing of beauty.

I am a natural redhead. Hated it when I was in school because of the teasing. My parents were hairdressers and I convinced one of the other hairdressers that my dad said it was ok to bleach me out blonde. Of course she didn't buy it but she put some color on my hair and my scalp started to burn. Got that stuff off quick. My parents understood and were great.

We do have many medical issues, anesthesia, pain management, the way we metabolize meds, and freckles and sunburn.

We do stand out in a crowd and I came to an understanding and pride in that and used it to my advantage. My husband loved redheads and stated often the quirks and differences that made him love me.

All in all, we are amazing and I'm so glad this is who I am.

I agree that he is over Meri, but I think he gives her mixed messages just often enough to keep her confused and hopeful. If she’s genuinely unhappy I hope she does find a better life but I have to keep reminding myself that her belief system tells her that her eternal spiritual well-being depends on sustaining this “marriage” and that Kody runs the show. And he has decreed that where goes one go they all, or however the hell he worded that mangled slogan.

Also, she still loves him and that can make anyone forget to look out for themselves.

PS, I love red hair. It runs in my dad’s family but skipped me. I had red highlights before I went silver and I used to henna the hell out of myself. But it’s not the same as the real thing!

Therein lies the problem.  As I understand it, in the afterlife, Kootie will have to call her by a secret name to join him. Surely she has to wonder what are the chances of that happening?

In this cockamamie patriarchal religion, the man has all of the power. Keep sweet and you might have a seat on the planet.  Sucks to be a woman, doesn't it - you happy little group of divided/multiplied sister wives?

I know this was last weeks show but it took me until Saturday to finish 2 hours of the Browns.  But mainly posting because I downloaded a tracker/tally app because after the 4th "Flagstaff" I was ready to stab myself.  Took one for the team and started it over to tally how many times "Flagstaff" was said in that two hour time.  32.  32 times they said that city.  It's almost like they get kickbacks from the City of Flagstaff each time they mentioned it.

Oooh, go to Shelbi's office and ask about the costs involved in bringing utilities to rural property lots, sewer v septic tank, city water v water tank, natural gas v propane, going solar, etc. Don't waste a bunch of her time or yours but see if you can get some ballpark answers. TIA.

We're driving through Flagstaff tomorrow, but I'm afraid of the bubonic plague, so I think I'll stay on the Interstate.

As long as you don't scoop up handfuls of dirt and prairie dog poop and shove into your mouth like Truely was doing - wait - HOW old is she again?!??? (Surely too old to be munching on freaking dirt!) you should be fine!

I can help you out on this one.  It will be fucking astronomical but chump change for TLC.

They got another 8 inches of snow in Flagstaff last night - not to mention they got 41 inches in that storm back in February.  That sure would be a change from Las Vegas.  At least Flagstaff is ready and can handle the snow.  Another reason not to live way out in the country though, since you'll want the city plows to clear your street.

No worries, you can't get plague from eating dirt.  Might get hantavirus from inhaling it, though.

So chow down, Truely.

It got me thinking that perhaps Christine was so focussed on making toast and eggs for handsome man that she did not make sure that Truely got enough to eat before the 7-vehicle caravan headed out to the properties.

KoDY made such an azz out of himself grIping that nobody wanted to ride with him to Plagueville.  Perhaps the moms wanted to catch up with their out of town young'uns while they had a chance? Maybe talk to the kids upset about the move outta Kody's earshot? Not have him direct the conversation back on himself every 5 minutes?  Or, could he have just picked one group to ride down with and another to ride back? Why is this so hard?  😫

The one interesting thing about that segment was that as far as I know it was the first time Kody didn't drive Robyn.  He always drives Robyn and her kids when they all go somewhere.

Robyn probably did not want to let on that she and Kodouche had been planning the move for 6 months.

That scene of him bitching was amazing. I initially thought he was joking but then it became obvious he really was pissed. I guess this King Patriarch stuff isn’t working out exactly as he would like.

Couldn’t he at least have driven a smaller vehicle? So annoying.

This may illustrate the financial wizardry of the Brown Brain Trust.  I checked for prices and in the Las Vegas area, you can rent a 24 passenger bus and driver for $90. per hour.  Distance LV to Flagstaff...253.4 miles (3hr 48min estimated time). Return trip 8 hours = $720 for bus plus 4 hours to check properties = $1080. plus tip, round it out to $1200.

The IRS mileage allowance for gas + wear to a vehicle is .58 cents per mile.  Round trip 507 miles x @ .58 cents per mile = $294. x 7 vehicles = $2058.

I've always thought Truely seemed a little simple.

Christine posted that Truely has a hard time making friends and still hasn't made any new friends in paradise.. Oops I mean Flagstaff.

Maybe other kids don't like her because she's babyish or something.

Her own dad barely tolerates her.

One has to wonder if she's had permanent problems after her renal failure episode the blame for which lies entirely on her parents, especially Kootie since he was supposed to be watching them.  Why here wasn't more legal backlash on that I have no idea.

I have wondered too about the physical effects of the renal failure, as well as the emotional loss she suffered at the hands of her father.  Sol was born about a year and a half after her and she witnessed the pride and commotion Kody exhibited over him. Even Meri would call Sol over to her house for special times crafting and little excursions.  Possibly Truely felt if she was more like little Sol, she too would be the beneficiary of this attention and deliberately tried to emulate his younger behavior.

That dear little girl has been largely ignored and neglected, in favor of King Sol and now AriMay.  I shouldn't wonder she'd try and get attention any way she could, even acting babyish like Sol, as Sandy posted above.

No idea about the kidney failure affecting her learning ability, but it wouldn't surprise me.

See, I was going to comment on how articulate I thought Truely (that’s a tough one to spell!) was on this last episode. She seems like a serious little adult. Not everyone makes friends easily.

It's possible that a teacher noticed her speech patterns and recommended speech therapy, sometimes available through school programs.  If this was recognized in her LV school, I hope it continues in Flagstaff.

On a side note, I was pleased to see that Christine or someone got rid of those dreadful, dark Grouch Marx glasses that were very unflattering for a little girl and chose something in a pastel shade.

Really Christine?  You think it's appropriate to announce to the world that your daughter has no friends?  I'm sure it's difficult enough for Truely that the dysfunctional antics of her family are broadcast to anyone who cares to watch - why are you compounding the issue by telling everyone she's having difficulty socially???

Maybe it's different for Truely because the family has literally been on television since she was born, but I can tell you that when I was a child, or even a teen, I would have been horrified if my mother had been blasting my personal business to complete strangers.  Not to mention some of the other kids at school who would gladly make fun of the girl from the polygamist family who has no friends.

Get a clue, Christine!!!!!!!!!!
