I really like Asuelu but as a potential sexual partner?!?! Nope. nope. nope.  He kinda has the voice of a sweet, simple cartoon character. Oh gawd, I really hope he isn't a talker during sex.

I have been in that position before.  It is their innocence.  Everything is there just as a guy back at home but they don’t have a lot of sexual experience due to their culture. Culture where girls are to remain virgin until marriage and even dating is unacceptable.

It is actually super refreshing and let me tell yah.....they aim to Please! They want that sexual approval so bad.  Thanks to free online porn....they know exactly what to do!

This is where it stops! Don’t bring them home. Gosh, no....just no! You will be like Kalani.  Annoyed and exasperated most of the time.

Now, this is why I understand grown men attracted to young girls.  Young people are still carefree and not jaded.

Kalani telling her family that she lost her virginity with Asuelu = me telling my mother that I was only holding a package of cigarettes for my friend. Only I was 16. And my mother didn't buy it.

Yeah, that didn't work for me and the birth control pills my mother found in my bag when I was 17, either.

I know Larissa is less than gracious, but that beef stew was one hell of a passive aggressive move that Debbie made there.

Eric is such a dud.  He and Leida deserve each other.  Alessandro, unfortunately, deserves better.  Much better.

Exactly!

I don’t feel bad for the Indonesian Heiresses!  They are wealthy!  They can pay for their own hotel, Philly Cheesesteak  Value Meals and maid service all without starving 3 American children that need their dad’s support.

I am loving how messy and disgusting Old Family Daughter leaves the apartment as a big F/U to dad and his mail order child bride!       “Like, if she is so wealthy...why is she coming HERE?!!” LMAO

Meanwhile, Eric’s logic.  If you don’t need 19 year daughter paying half rent + half bills  on a 2 bedroom apt = WEALTHY

if he says wealthy one more time.........?

I hope next meal is at Wendy’s.  Eric can buy chicken nuggets from the Dollar Menu and they will each get one. They can wash it down with their own spit.  Bon Appetit!

As a Mormon family I am surprised that Kalani was able to travel alone to ShamWow and if she did I am surprised she did not have a  constant chaperone while on her vacation. And I am sure that Island Boy is shacking up with Kalani in her Airbnb (for at least for the 90 days he is here).  Will they be filming a family outing to church on a Sunday?

So how religious are these people?

Jay, welcome to Baltimore and the white sand that is called snow. Ashley's home doesn't really have a lot of personality. And yeah, it may be tough the first bit to be the only black dude in the area. Most people wouldn't notice or care, but there are a few who will. Be a mature young man.

I would worry more about Devar, honestly.  Jay will be very close to Harrisburg, which has a more ethnically diverse base.  Devar lives right near where three teens beat a Hispanic man to death, just because.  The area Devar lives in is isolated, and badly economically depressed.  There are very few jobs, and little prospects.  People there tend to be very distrustful of outsiders and strangers - ESPECIALLY if they look/speak differently.

So Kalini doesn’t think Oliver’s father, who moved to the US to be with him yesterday, can be his dad overnight? Newsflash fat ass, he’s already his father! Helping raise your nephew you does not make you his dad, and nobody told you take on your sister’s responsibility.  She got her self in that predicament, so let her figure it out.

Why doesn’t she stop being a bitter, ball breaking shrew and focus on her man and kids?  Oh that’s right...She's too busy worrying about her sisters fiancé to get one of her own.  What a loser she is.

I found this whole thing extremely uncomfortable.  And Kalani's "He has to earn the dad thing back from my sister"?  FRO, Kalani.

Eric in the talking head: "It is important that I provide for Leida & Alessandro" the editors cut off the end of the sentence "for under $25 a week."

He takes her to a dingy, grey, dirty food court packed with sketchy people with their faces blurred out. He proudly returns with a single 12" hoagie in a plastic bag that they are all going to share. Since he lacked the forethought of bringing a tray, it's hardly surprising that there are no drinks to accompany the salty food, a plastic knife to cut it, or paper plates for everyone. They're reduced to eating it like animals, ripping pieces of it with their claws, and trying to eat it off thin, cheap napkins soggy with the juices oozing out of the shredded sandwich.

I know this is a snark site, but I think the Reading Terminal Market deserves a little defending.  It's actually rather nice - a farmer's/public market type thing.  Lots of good stuff there.  People are fuzzed out because there are too many to ask for permission to have them on TV.  That hoagie looks delicious, but if they would have asked for silverware/plates, then there wouldn't have been drama.

They got a Hobby Lobby recently in that general area.  It appears she has visited...often.

I need to see what mansion queen Larissa lived in before coming to America.

I think it's a cultural thing now.  My husband's jackass ex-boss was from Brazil.  He came to this area from a major city in the US that apparently has a large Brazilian expat community.  We're largely rural here.  First thing he wanted to know was where the best town/neighborhood/school/everything was.  He ended up with a fairly unimpressive older small home for mega bucks when if he would have lowered himself to other areas, he could have gotten 2-3 times the house for much less - he could have even stayed in the same zip code/school district.  But no, he has to have that "name" to drop.  He drives old cars, but they're all Mercedes, etc.  To him, quality is less important than appearance, and I see the same thing in Larissa.  Jackass also leaves the area as often as possible to go back to his old crowd, and he brags incessantly (his social media stuff is fairly open - I looked once when we given some information that may have been lawsuit worthy).  But around here, people see that yeah, he drives a Mercedes, but it's 20 years old with 250,000 miles and a cassette player.  They're not impressed - they see a moron who could get a nicer but lesser-name vehicle that is safer and costs less in maintenance.

Reading Terminal is a very interesting place to walk around and see all the stalls, they even have a beer garden! I hope he got his parking garage ticket validated or leaves before the free two hours are up.  He could take them to the Liberty Bell and walk around the Old City, tons of stuff for kids in Philadelphia to do but I am sure it did not occur to him or he did not want to pay admission to anything.

You can view the Liberty Bell for free at any time - even after the pavilion closes - from outside.  They even have recordings to listen to.  Independence Hall and Liberty Bell are free, but you have to make reservations ahead, and they charge a nominal fee per person that they later give back, to hold off the people who make reservations and never show.  But cheapskate would never spring for that - he's too maxed out for the $1 or $2 per person fee.  I am still wondering why they were there to begin with.  I saw the bus for Eastern State go by.  THAT is a cool place - both the daytime tour, and the Halloween events.

At the kalani family dinner father kalani starts in with the whole "rules for dating my teenage daughter" spiel. Oh wait - she's 30. Someone should let him/them know. Then sister kalani is shooting daggers the whole time. Too bad aseulo probably didn't know that if his visa didn't get there fast enough the coveted father spot would already be claimed.  Does anyone else know of an aunt that refers to herself as the father? Anyone? ....crickets... How weird. I'm sure there's some Freudian theories to be had here.

Yeah, as I said prior, that whole thing was somewhat disturbing.  Reminds me of an old Toddlers & Tiaras episode where one of the kids (just a toddler) was closer to her aunt than her mother - it was bizarre.  She'd scream bloody murder if the mom picked her up, and wouldn't stop until the aunt came and got her.  Same creepy vibe.

Asuelo is so boyishly sweet and so full of wonder -- "Look!  A tree!  What is the name of this tree?"  -- that I honestly don't know how Kalani was able to have sex with him.  He just seems so very boyish and so immature (in the most charming of ways) that there is no way in hell would I have been interested in doing the Deed with him.  Sure, I would have greatly enjoyed collecting sea shells with him along the beaches of Samoa, whilst he regaled me with tales of his people and his traditions, but there is no way I could have hit the sheets with this kid.  I hope he manages to get himself back home to his happy place full of coconuts and sarongs before Captain Lou and the 2 Linebackers with (all the) Hair eat him for family dinner.

Yeah, I couldn't either.  His face is like someone who had too much plastic surgery or Botox.  And he speaks oddly.  Would drive me nuts.

Oh and I forgot to say that in every single scene since Episode One the American engaged to the Jay the Jamaican (I can't even remember her name)..............she looks less and less happy. Scene by scene the reality is hitting her and she looks to me, less and less carefree and happy about their future. Just me maybe?

Isn't this like her third engagement in a year or something? I'm thinking she is never happy for long, and can't handle the day-to-day reality of a relationship. Now that Jay is real and living in her space, it may go downhill fast.

To not have any savings whatsoever, let alone be able to provide any kind of home for Olga and the kid, -- wtf are they planning to do?

He got them both jobs on 90DF.  I consider that pretty darn smart.  The average wage in Russia is only $700/month.  If 90DF only pays $1,000 per episode, she is set for an entire year..

I'm still hung up on the "Best Cheddar in the World" incident.   Why did Eric point it out if he wasn't planning on getting any?  Was he thinking Leida would buy the cheese for them?  Why does she need HIM to buy HER cheese if she's so well off?  Just buy the cheese if you want it.  This is really bugging me.  Basically, if she comes from money, she'd have some money to spend on this trip and wouldn't have to depend on ol' Eyebags to buy her and her son food (which it doesn't look like he's actually up to doing).

She brought Jay over to piss off (win back) an ex lover.

I know! That was really bizarre. No wonder Koloni thinks she's the dad with special rights and can decide who can/can't see/hold/touch/be around Oliver. Her sister is giving her all these powers. If Kalani wants her relationship with Ansuelo to build grow and prosper, she's gonna have to set boundaries with her family. Right now she's letting them run HER show.

The cult of purity runs deep in Utah.

If you read Elizabeth Smart's book, one of the reasons she did not escape from her captors is because she knew since she was not longer a virgin, she was now basically worthless.

IMHO, as soon as they entered the house, Mother Colt came onto the scene and made her leaden presence felt, clinging to her son as if SHE had been the one who had been separated from him for months!

I would have been really, really annoyed! Especially if I had been flying on an airplane for the past 24 hours.

And after riding in that hot car, would you like me to heat up some stew for you dear? Uh, no thanks!

So your houseguest wasn't hungry. Big deal! It's not worth weeping over. Is this woman capable of gliding over anything? Does she even know what that means?

I get that Larissa is blunt to the point of being rude. No doubt about it. But she's right about some things. Unless you like a Barren Frosty the Snowman Dowdy Slots Motif sans couch, the house doesn't look so great. What's with the bare white walls? Are they going for Early American Mental Institution?

Colt's mom has completely dwarfed her son's social development. Their relationship is seriously twisted and so far from normal that he doesn't even realize it. Au contraire, he probably jokes about it! She seriously hated that his future wife was cooking breakfast for them in HER kitchen. It makes me wonder whose house is it anyway? Somebody is going to have to leave because here's the thing: Debbie can't share.

After I have been flying long haul, my stomach is usually doing backflips, so I would definitely not in the mood for a bowl of stew. If Mama Colt or Norman Bates Colt had a clue, they would have fashioned a nice tray of cheese, crackers, cold cuts,  fruits and cool drinks and I'm sure Larissa would have been thrilled. Also I do appreciate letting her be in on a sofa purchase, but where are they supposed to sit in the meantime?

I agree with you 100%.  I am at work thinking about their situation (yes, pathetic).  He can be attractive and she is attractive enough.  There is nothing unusual about her wanting a bigger house (not huge, but bigger than 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, no basement) and a pool.  I have median income friends with pools.   If he spruces himself up, cuts the apron strings and isn't psycho, he could make a decent enough husband.  If she is willing to fulfill her part of the bargain, she probably could be a decent wife and give him children (and Debbie, that means grandchildren!).  This really rests with Colt manning up and sort this all out.

They do.

Rancho Santa Margarita is the most southern part of Orange County possible  and isn’t coastal at all. (One of my BFFs lives there and it’s always hot when I drive up there!) When I watch the beach scenes for their segments, I know it’s nowhere close to where she really lives.

I was shocked the first time I drove to my BFFs condo. It felt like I’d been driving forever. Once I exited the freeway (the 5), it was a solid 20 min drive, eastbound, to actually reach RSM. Streetlights are everywhere, about every 30 feet, and they’re always red - no matter which way you’re driving!

Even though RSM isn’t in the desert, it’s quite hot there. Once a person heads east from the 5/405 freeways, it becomes much warmer by each mile.

Yeah, what is with Eric flinging that poor child on his shoulders ? I think the kid is perfectly capable of walking and not slammed up against a door jam or something.  He also needs to close his mouth when he chews,  I was trying to pay attention the best I could, it did look to me that Coltee's house was in a gated neighborhood, don't hold me to it.  Also, his place does seem super small, not much of a living room and a small kitchen, I take it 2 bedrooms upstairs where Colte probably has the master because he pays, I assume there is maybe a 1/2 bath downstairs ?

and just for the record, I hate beef stew...

No matter what kind of day any of us have had, we can all go to bed happy that none of us are stuck with any of the awful people on 90DF as spouses or in-laws.

Seeing Philadelphia onscreen was a lot of fun. In a few weeks I'll be running the Philadelphia (Half) Marathon for the second time, so it was nice to ignore Eric and Leida in the foreground and look over their shoulders to see where they were. I can't actually watch their scenes otherwise. It's too uncomfortable a la David Poor and Annie last season.

Jonathan is gross in his attitude toward women, but I think he and Fernanda have the best chance, mostly because she herself seems like a decent person and is doing it for the right reasons. And also they can actually communicate in the same language.

I feel for Larissa. I live in a hot climate too, and I would spend any amount of money to ensure I had AC all the time. She might be one of those people that becomes insanely grumpy when overheated. She could have been more gracious about the food, though. There are no words for Mother Colt.

Asuelu is the purest soul this show has seen since Kirlyam. It was nice that Kalani seemed to feel for him when he got emotional, but she's so patronizing that it's hard to like her. I hope she does fuck off after this season, as she has threatened to do. I don't need or want to hear anything else from her or that family in the Aftershows. Unless it's to tell us what hair products she uses.

No reason she can’t want a larger house and a pool. Just kind of tacky to mention it five minutes after walking in the door. My guess is that she is unaware of how much Colt earns, how much his mother contributes to the household, what a larger house and pool would cost and just how much does she intend to contribute to the larger  more luxurious digs, (aside from sex and some greatly exaggerated cooking skills)?

Colt may decide it’s cheaper and less stressful to make a monthly visit to the Bunny Ranch.

It would be interesting to know exactly what lifestyle Larissa had in Brazil. Does  she have  parents that are still alive and on good terms with her? Brothers? Sisters? A job? What kind of house/apt or vehicle did she own?

She needs to learn a bit more about Colt and his mothers financial arrangment/situation before pissing Mother off. She might discover that without her contribution, she and Colt  will be moving to an even smaller residence and taking a bus (yeah it’s probably air conditioned) to work and the stores.

No Subway (or any other chain) at Reading Terminal Market.  It's pretty awesome and well-curated.  But it's also not really where you'd go for a Canonical Tourist Cheesesteak either - you'd go to Pat's or Geno's.  Not that the ones at RTM aren't genuine, but if you're not there to eat because you're hungry but just to give everyone a taste of Phila. (hence the four way split) you'd go down to South Philly and grab one (or both) at Pat's or Geno's.

So he REALLY did buy a communal cheesesteak? I am sorry, but there's no way I would want to sample anyone's iconic food without a fork. It's not like a waste buying each person a cheesesteak, it can always be wrapped up...

We see so many people asking rhetorical questions as to why these people on the show do the things they do, questions they will never get answers to, but they want to know why.

I also think 'smart people' like to see how being smart has saved them from some poor or desperate decisions. It's easier to be a smart armchair critic.

She needs to take some lessons on how to get what she wants using her feminine wiles and sexy times in the bedroom. She should call Pao from Colombia and ask her for some pointers.

If Mama Colt or Norman Bates Colt had a clue, they would have fashioned a nice tray of cheese, crackers, cold cuts,  fruits and cool drinks and I'm sure Larissa would have been thrilled.

For that matter, if they'd done ANYTHING to make her welcome she would have been thrilled. Dude - a human being just flew here from another CONTINENT to be with you and you throw her in an AC-less car, schlep her around LV, take her to a somehow both barren AND messy town-home, make no discernible room for her or her belongings in the bathroom, closet or bedroom, and foist your mom and your cats on her without any buffer. I would also not have been in the mood for beef stew or under the sheets cats.

what is with Eric flinging that poor child on his shoulders

Eh - this was pretty much how we carted our kid around when he was around that size. They like being up high and seeing stuff. I did think it was beyond bizarre the way he totally yanked that poor baby away from his grandpa. Possessive much?

And good lord - Leida is manic as fuck. I totally get Reina's deadpan "she can be annoying" TH. Annoying, yes, because she's got some kind of personality disorder that is seriously going untreated. Vivacious and vicious aren't that far apart. No wonder her family isn't keen on her getting to stay in the US with Alessa and away from them. Eric is a loser, but maybe she doesn't care as long as she gets away from her family that tries to keep her in check when she's out of whack.

So, Fernanda and Jay. I have a 20 year old son (who is so much more mature than Jay or at least isn't such a loud-mouthed ass) and I cannot begin to fathom him being married right now. He's a full time college student and he works a variety of part time jobs to pay for gas and give me insurance money for his car. When Fernanda started crying while she was trying on clothes my heart hurt for her the same way it hurt when my pretty much insensitive son took to his bed for a week when he broke up with his GF last year.  I swear, I looked at Mr. Shockermolar and was like, she is JUST a little girl. WTF is wrong with that man?  And Jay - his extreme reaction to the cold weather is pretty much how my son acted when he was in San Francisco for the first time and realized that yes, nights are cold there even in the summer. My point is that those two aren't ready to get married to anyone. They're barely able to be adults. They're BABY adults.

I figure soapdirt's Kalani article won't be considered a 'spoiler' in that she's so full of shit, lol. "Her dad merely disproves of his daughter being involved in a male-dominated society?" This coming from the Mormon dad who shows up for dinner and grunts, "let's eat, I'm hungry"? I also don't recall him scrambling around to help with dinner nor to do dishes afterwards. That entire family is a hot, male-dominated, mess.

Wouldn't Klannie have been excommunicated from the Mormon church when she got pregnant before marriage?  Or severely disciplined? Obviously Ozwhaleo is not a Latter Day Saint, so they won't be able to be "sealed" in a Mormon Temple. If her father and family are active good Mormons,  they must be EXTREMELY unhappy with her...And her sister is a complete jerk regardless!!! Ummm, Ozwhaleo IS a dad immediately to that baby...give the guy a chance for God's sake!

Jay picked the worst winter to come to America. They landed in Baltimore. I'm just outside of DC. Last year was probably one of the coldest in 21 years I have lived here. I actually loved it as I miss the real winters we have in Slovakia. Now where I'm it's normally in the 40's with occasional ice storm or even warm enough to wear shorts in middle of winter but last winter was below freezing for 3 weeks straight and then another  2-3 weeks into January.

Going to Russia isn't cheap plus paying for the K1 visa on top so Stephen probably couldn't save as much as he wanted in the 9 months he had. He will also have to pay for Olga's plane ticket to  bring her to America. Bringing too much baby stuff over from USA would require extra suitcases and fees for extra luggage. They are both very young and just learn about what having a child will require so it was better for him to wait and just buy necessities in there. What we saw they spent under 150 for the baby stuff.  If she gets the visa they will have to buy everything again in USA. Both of their childhoods were difficult and they didn't have real examples of what being husband and wife looks like but I think they will try the best to give their son what they didn't have growing up.

Asuelu has no chance. He came and started to bond with his son immediately, trying to catch up on what he missed and to learn how to take care of his baby but sister Kalani doesn't like being replaced by real dad. WTF??? If he ignored the kid everyone would complain that he is not doing what he should. Next thing I expect everyone to complain that he can't provide for his future fami!y even though he has to wait for green card to legally get a job. Maybe his future father in law will find him some under the table job but then they will still have to drive him there until he can get driver's license so they will complain that he can't even drive himself. Nothing will be good enough or fast enough for them. His future wife never defends him and just sits there. She is embarrassed by him. He will turn from this happy go lucky young man full of wonder who moved across the world to do the right thing into never being and doing good enough man while working 3 jobs to provide for his family. If they get that far and get married as even at 30 Kalani needs "permission" in 21st century to get married.

I really like Fernanda so far. She definitively expresses herself well and seems to be more mature for her age. I guess because she always helped her mother to take care of her siblings as the oldest. Plus coming from country where people get married and have children very young and don't spend their 20's getting education and establishing themselves while having fun. Jonathan is only now settling down so their age difference is not so jarring.

If the Indonesian fiancee's family is really wealthy that should be interesting different dynamic to watch as so far all the Americans - even if they didn't have much - were the ones with more money.
