Emily screams after finding snakes in her closet. The scream alerts Miriam, who then proceeds to kill and cook the snakes. When dinner is served, some of the purples begin to complain about the snakes being the only thing for dinner. Langdon, the COOPERATIVE representative, tells the remaining survivors that he must evaluate them to see who he should take, if anyone, to The Sanctuary. Coco insults Mr. Gallant's grandmother Evie ("You were fifty-two when Elvis took his last shit!"). Mr. Gallant, who volunteered for first interrogation, is then questioned and quite possibly flirted with by Langdon. Emily contemplates leaving the outpost with Timothy and tries to convince him of a plan she believes is foolproof. Mr. Gallant is then approached by a man in a rubber body suit whom he believes is Langdon. They fuck. Evie catches them in the act in a scene that resembles Rubber Man fucking Vivian Harmon, except Evan Peters is playing a bottom and is being fucked doggy style. Evie then turns to Miriam and tells her that her grandson broke the abstinence rule. Timothy and Emily sneak into Langdon's room in search of a map to The Sanctuary. They find a report on the rules that Venable made up. Unbeknownst to them, the rubber man from earlier was watching them from the ceiling. Langdon then confronts Ms. Venable about her made-up rules and is insulted. Her fighting spirit brings him to admire her and he gives her advice about seeing the world as it was. He tells her what he saw along the way to the outpost, and how the radiation after the blast had killed a woman's child and drove her to beg for death. Ms. Venable gives her input on who didn't deserve to go to The Sanctuary. Langdon proposes an alliance, and convinces her to unzip her dress. A deformity with her spine is revealed and he questions her about it. Miriam interrupts and tells Ms. Venable about Mr. Gallant's activities. Ms. Venable believes that Mr. Gallant was familiar with Langdon before his arrival and that the two of them were up to something. She has Mr. Gallant bound and whipped semi-nude as she questions his motives. He takes the whipping as a tribute to his gay role models through history. Ms. Venable ceases the punishment because Gallant was 'enjoying it'. Langdon shows up and, while alone with Mr. Gallant, confesses to not having sex with him ("I wouldn't fuck you if you were the last man on earth."). He then calls Gallant needy and desperate and pathetic. He tells him that it was his grandmother who reported him and convinces him that his grandmother wanted him dead and gone. Gallant is then freed and Langdon leaves. Gallant interrupts Coco (and Mallory) yet again insulting Evie and Dinah, and he tells her that she has lived a full life, that he had not, and trying to get him killed was a shitty move. She calls him a screw up, an addict, and tells him that his parents didn't want him. She then tells him that her life has more value than his. Timothy and Emily choose to no longer abide by the abstinence rule and are watched by the rubber man. In the next scene, Mr. Gallant is alone once again with the rubber man. Miriam finds Emily and Timothy in the same bed and she drags Emily away as Erika Ervin's character (who I've just been calling the henchwoman) collects Timothy. Mr. Gallant straddles the rubber man and impales him with a pair of scissors. The door creaks open revealing Langdon, and then Mr. Gallant looks back at the rubber man, except it was really Evie; Mr. Gallant has killed his Nana. Venable stands before the kids, ready to instill a punishment, but Timothy confronts her about her "bullshit rules", revealing that they had found Langdon's notes on his laptop. Emily calls Ms. Venable sick, and she is backhanded by the henchwoman. Venable has the children taken away to where Stu was killed. Just before being shot, Timothy attacks his shooter with the contamination hose and steals the gun. He aims and fires it at Miriam, but is knocked out by the henchwoman. Miriam reveals her wound in the hallway when she is alone. Her skin, which appears to be manufactured material, leaks a soupy white substance.

Well Evan Peters and the Rubber Man was something lol. Twitter is going crazy lol.

I still don't like Emily or Timmy.

Farewell Joan Collins that was a crazy intense scene. I felt bad for Mr.Gallant I mean he did save his Grandma and I don't think she cared.

'Time in a Bottle' aww Evan's X-Men scene.

What is up with Kathy Bates? Is this Westworld now?

Michael seemed to summon Rubber Man we saw him doing a blood ritual.

That was the American Horror Story I love. Just bananas, crazy shit and well-delivered snark. But man, the Outpost 3 storyline can't wrap up fast enough. Joan Collins is playing another character so I think we're going to be switching realities in a few episodes like they did with Roanoke.

The blood ritual was a scene in Mr. Gallant's fantasy, I think.

Cody Fern is so damn good. I was worried he was going to be too campy, but he's walking that line well.

Holy shit......Kathy bates is a cylon!

bye Alexis you kinda had it coming. I'm just kinda glad we didn't see that rubber man wasn't Tate (Evan peters fucking Evan peters might be too much for my fragile little mind to take)

Cody fern is killing it. Is it wrong for me to think that for the antichrist he's kinda hot? I just wanna know what's the deal with red around his eyes.

so next week is Halloween huh? Buckle up kiddies, this is going to be an interesting one

they had better not kill off Kyle allen he's too cute and smart to kill.

Agree I don't want to be stuck at this location for that much longer. I hope by episode 4 or 5 we are moving on.

I'm done -- this is the stupidest season of American Horror Story yet.  (Even though it's also the most fascinating season, design-wise, and I still love Leslie Grossman.)  Ryan Murphy sucks and is also one of the most intriguing show runners going right now, but this crap is just dumb, to the point of being both insulting and infuriating.

Christ, I'm so conflicted.

Who is the guy in the leather/plastic outfit? I like the young couple. I hope the young guy isn't dead.

So Kathy Bates' character is a cyborg. I wonder is that huge woman is one also.

Farewell, grandma.  She was a terrible person.

I liked Allison's new hairstyle.

Yes. And although the overlap of the same actors playing multiple characters this seasons has been extensively discussed elsewhere, I was in no way prepared to see Evan Peters quite literally, f*ck himself.

Thank you, Ryan Murphy. Just when we believe we've seen it all, you manage to show us... more.

oh in case you guys were wondering what was on Michaels laptop....be scared. According to the email he wrote to the Collective he's marked Venable and Gallant as "red" and plans on executing them as soon as he's finished interviewing (bye bye Evan and Sarah) and he only sees two that he considers prominent subjects but he has doubts about even them. Reading a freeze frame of the laptop email isn't a spoiler, in fact, I kinda expect Ryan did that deliberately just like in Roanoke with the "everybody died except for one", so please don't yell cause I did some detective work.

The Wonder Purple Twins can go away as soon as possible. They are terrible.

Yes. If Emily and Timothy are the writers attempt to give the show a "moral center" of two sympathetic characters, than they are failing miserably.  Emily and Timothy started out bland, and seem to be getting duller with each episode. They lack any kind of depth, characterization, motivation, or overall internal life save for their cliched romance with each other.

It seems churlish to wish death on two such nice kids... but honestly, I can't help but hope Langdon would make the two disappear with his antichrist voodoo so that we can focus on other, more interesting characters.

Speaking of which: the hairstylist and his Nana went from one dimensional stereotypes to two very well fleshed out, believable characters over the space of the episode. Seeing them reminded me of how, back in the prime of AHS, Ryan Murphy used to create such fascinating, complex characters, like Tate Langdon, Lana Winters, Sister Jude, etc. I hope we'll see more of a revival of that strong writing this season.

Really? I guess that just goes to show you how crazily opinions can diverge, because I haven't been this excited over a season of AHS since season two. I was blown away by the first episode, which seemed to re introduce the mystery, originality, and the overall "wow" factor to the show that has been missing for so many years now. And this past episode, though (IMO), it wasn't quite as strong as the first, continued on with a well paced storylines, tight plot, and intriguing characterizations.

Oh, and I just can't wait to see the witches and the Harmons.

Different strokes, I guess.

The show had warnings about nudity, I don't remember seeing any nudity. Anti-nudity I saw, when looking at the Victorian underwear, I couldn't have been less excited about seeing a woman in her underwear. Everybody's room is way too big and the extra space should have been used for storage. That way you might have had some food to eat. I would like to know how many people are in the bunker, there are very few Purples (and getting fewer every episode), but there appears to be a lot of Grays and Blacks (security). I would love to see how the Grays and Blacks live. I was thinking that Billie Lourd's character might be one of the ones chosen to survive.

It startles me a little seeing sliding doors instead of swinging doors for every room.

So next week is a Halloween party, I wonder if they will be serving "Beef Jerky".

There are too many M-F'ing snakes in this M-F'ing bunker.

I  think the laptop, like Rubberman, are illusions/traps set by Michael to create chaos. So I'm not sure anything on the laptop was real. I think Michael keeps setting the characters up to do things that will get them punished and so they'll wreak havoc on the outpost and kill each other. But, again, I don't think any of this is real. My guess is they'll kill these characters off so they can re-introduce the actors as new characters without confusing the audience too much.

Emily and Timothy are most likely going to be related to Asylum's Kit Walker and that's the only reason they're there, so I don't care about them at all.  Now that they've had sex, I rally don't care about them since they're probably related.

I still think, when we go back to Murder House, we're going to learn Michael isn't the anti-christ and that the other baby is.

I'm glad someone else didn't care for the episode.  I was interested after the first episode but I found this episode to fluctuate between boring and ridiculous.  I didn't care for it at all.  I usually enjoy the Halloween episodes the most so I'm going to see how next week goes.  If it is like this week, I'm out. I feel like Ryan Murphy has gotten away from horror and is more into S&M and torture porn the past few seasons and I'm thinking this season is headed in a similar direction.  Not really my thing.

Torture porn is a brand of horror.  It’s why the Saw Franchise existed as long as it did.  Horror is currently my favorite genre and I like almost all brands of it and there is just something about the way Ryan Murphy writes it that just gets me.  If anything Apocalypses has been a little slow.  Not enough crazy in the first two episodes.  But then I am expecting the Halloween episode to ramp up the crazy.

Michael's scenes with Gallant and Venable were pretty great, enjoyed seeing him needle the pair of them, though I wonder why he specifically wants both of them dead.

Evie didn't last long but at least there's another character for Joan Collins to display next time on this season though.

Meade being a cyborg I didn't see coming. Interesting development.

Hoping Timothy and Emily aren't dead yet.

Coco needs more than funny lines to be sustained as as character. I want to know a bit more about Dinah as well.

Return of Rubber Man was nice, but it's time for the witches I think, 7/10

For me, I much prefer the Alfred Hitchcock or Stephen King version of horror.  The kind that isn't 100% in your face with it but instead, gives you just enough that your imagination runs with it, fills in the gaps with things that will most scare you, and really gets the terror going.  Not saying I don't like the other forms, but I do think that they don't require as much talent and imagination.  For me, Murder House and Asylum were closer to what I enjoy.  I liked the camp of Coven.  Freak Show was the first season I watched so I guess my expectations were significantly lower and I didn't mind it at all.  But Hotel and especially Roanoak were just too "gross out" for me.  I'm hoping this season doesn't go that route, especially since, with the subject, it would be easy to really make this a psychological thriller.

And I still say Michael looks like a cross between Lucious Malfoy and Kylo Ren.

Honestly, every single season of AHS has included torture porn it hasn't just been the past few. Asylum was particularly relentless but people often feel that season was the best. The first season had a guy get a fire poker shoved up his ass. I've never expected the show to not have these moments. So far this season has been relatively tame IMO.

I'm okay with the season and 100% disagree that this is the stupidest season yet. That honor goes to Roanoke IMO. That season was full of stupid characters and a ridiculous set up that took all of the suspense out of the show. So far this show has had a lot of humor and I like that.

I'm bummed about losing Joan Collins's character but am looking forward to her playing other characters. She's been a real treat this season. I hope she becomes a permanent fixture to the Ryan Murphy actors troupe.

A bit off-topic but every time she is on-screen, it makes me wish that Ryan would have gotten her to play Joan Crawford in "Feud" instead of Jessica.

I'm loving this season so far. Cody Fern has great chemistry with Paulson and Peters so I think he's definitely secured his place in Murphy's troupe as well.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear.  I do agree that there has been torture porn. I feel like there was more in the more recent seasons than in the earlier seasons.  I prefer less rather than morre.  And I don't think this is the stupidest season yet.  We are only on episode two and even then, it still isn't Roanoak. I 100% agree that Roanoak was the stupidest season.  I think I made it 6 episodes into that one and it is the only season I didn't finish.  I'm also with you about losing Joan Collins.  She was one of my favorites.

I really liked Roanoke it was a combination of a POV storytelling and  home invasion horror and although you were pretty sure who would survive the story itself was fun to watch unravel.  The only season I don’t like was Freak Show and I can’t exactly explain why.

This season has all the makings to be a good time.  It’s ten episodes so for everyone who thinks RM loses the plot in the middle since there is less middle  there is less chance for him to do that but he is still more likely to go in the direction of high camp then gritty drama.    There is a time and place for gritty drama but I do love me some high high camp as well.

I agree. Cody Fern is enigmatic! It almost feels like he has always been a part of Murphy's camp.

Loved hearing Fleetwood Mac again! That scene was quintessentially American Horror Story, which I haven't felt since, well...Hotel (don't hate, I enjoyed that season, even if it was all over the place. I just wish Denis O'Hare was in this season). Can't wait to see the witches!

I actually think Adina Porter looks younger in the face. They style Leslie's character differently but from the neck up, I think Adina Porter looks younger. And when Billie Lourd was chiming in about millennial stuff and sat next to Leslie, their age difference was clear.

I'm terrified of snakes. I had to close my eyes during that scene. I didn't open them until after the dinner.

So Kathy Bates is, what? An android? I was glad when Timothy fought back and shot her because it gave him something to do. He's very boring.

I'm not sure what the show was trying to say with the Rubber Man. I fully expected him to pull the mask off and reveal Tate from Murder House but when they cut to Joan Collins lying there stabbed to death, I just didn't get it. Was he hallucinating the Rubber Man? Both times? We know it wasn't Joan Collins the first time because she was out in the hallway watching them.

The kid who plays Timothy looks so familiar but he hasn't been in anything else I've seen according to his IMDB page. Finally figured out, he looks like a young Joseph Gordon Levitt.

The snakes coming back to life in the soup bowls, in addition to the Rubber Man confusion, makes me think they're all actually dead and in hell.

That was the American Horror Story I love. Just bananas, crazy shit and well-delivered snark.

My problem with the show is that it's been style over substance since around Season 3. Ryan Murphy has more or less given up on cohesive story-telling and just goes for whatever is crazy and outlandish even if it doesn't make sense. It's still entertaining, sometimes, but it's not as tightly written as the first two seasons were. It seems like he thinks shock value is the only worthy pursuit in the show.

I really thought the season started out very well but it quickly devolved into the usual Murphy campiness.

Wow, Cody Fern is really reminding me of a more evil version of Bowie's Goblin King from Labyrinth. Which is not a complaint, quite the contrary. It's so different from his performance on American Crime Story.

I know Murphy tends to go in for style over substance on these things, but I have to roll my eyes at a fallout shelter with huge Gothic chambers and dozens of lit candles in even empty rooms. The sheer storage space required for that many pillar candles over the course of 18 months is ludicrous—no wonder they weren't able to store enough food!

Is Bates a cyclon/cyborg or was that puss? Maybe she's been affected by the radiation?

A big problem I'm noticing is that people are getting frustrated that there's been no real cross-over yet and the witches haven't shown up. The trailers are misleading, too. Everybody thought the coven was returning in last night's episode. I'm wondering if they're doing down to the wire editing on episodes. I've noticed a couple of lines of Cody Fern's have been cut between trailer and episode because his accent came out too strong.

Fern is such a fantastic addition to the RM canon, but I hope he doesn't start showing up in everything RM produces the way Peters and Paulson do. It's like he owns them. It's weird. I really hope Murphy doesn't wear Fern out.

I wasn't a Dynasty fan back in the day but damn I've enjoyed Joan Collins in her role here. She's good! Was good. She'll still be good? Lets hope.

I keep thinking Jonathan Rhys Meyers would've been a good choice for Langdon here.

I just love Evan Peters. Kid's got charisma.

Timothy and Emily need to get evil or get dead; those two are dull as dishwater to me. As for the rest of the bunker crew, I think they're actually enjoyable (some more than others) but there's no one I need to survive yet. Honestly I'm probably rooting for Michael most because he's the most entertaining. I 100% expect this to change once the previous seasons come into play, though.
