"You took my dinosaur."  LMAO.  Seriously.  Are they back in kindergarten.

What is Jake up to?  Does he want Liv to really be in control of B613, or step aside and let him take over?

Of course, they wouldn't show us the body.  This would be more interesting if Quinn or Papa Pope had definitely ended up dead.

Damn, no more cute reporter eye candy.

Liv's parents are both psychos.  She should have them both killed.

I mean.. I guess something happened? A part of me is unsure to really believe it was Quinn who was just killed because this does love a good round of crying wolf on anything and everything, be it someone’s dead or being evil or something.

Seriously.. what is Fitz even doing on this show anymore?

So much speech-ing. Too much. At one point Liv and Papa Pope went back and forth for what felt like an hour. Its just not entertaining anymore.

That’s really all this show is anymore. It’s Liv making a speech about.. something or someone else making a speech at her.

And I know many people like the actor who plays Papa Pope, I did at one time too but now he grates. The only thing he doesn’t have at this point is an evil mustache to twirl.

Has Kerry Washington lost a ton of weight? I feel like her face is almost gaunt. Which makes the mouth acting even more distracting than usual. But seriously, I hope she’s okay. She looks teeny in the waist too. Maybe I’m just used to her hiding the pregnancies?

I think the writers have made too many mistakes with Olivia. I don’t really care what happens to her so putting her in harm’s way doesn’t do much to me. This first half of the season hasn’t been great. I think... Charlie?... is the one I’ve started to care about the most (and let’s face it. That’s residual Brian McKenzie love). Let’s hope they finish it off well. Because I’m really just limping along to the end because I don’t want to give up when it’s so close to being finished. But I do find myself hoping it’s a shorter season.

I don't know why no one here cares about Quinn, who's probably the least offensive of Olivia's friends.  I cared quite a bit, and I really hope that Rowan* didn't kill her.

*Seriously.  Is it Rowan or Eli?  I swear that even the writers of the show can't make up their minds on his name.

No way is  Quinn dead, even if the shots did knock Liv sideways.

So they killed Pryce, too bad, he had a liittle somethin' somethin'. going for him.

Personally if I was Liv, I'd get rid of both her twisted parents, her mother snarls for gods sake, her dad just wants his damn bones! Then I'd run back off to somewhere sunny with Jake.

Cyrus knows something is going on, Mellie? Clueless.

This is just so god-awful.  How did we end up here?  How does it even get fixed, except for waking up in a bed in Vermont from a dream?

Could Quinn be in on it with Papa Pope??? The man's a killer...two shots to put Quinn down?  I don't think so.  2 shots is for effect.

Papa Pope...my transference is from Eureka!  I loved Henry!  *sigh*

Olivia is an idiot.  Power perceived is power achieved.  Her moment to assert her power over her dad was when she FIRST should have given him back his bones.  He would have been placated and been shown that SHE is in control, or Command.  But no, she gets drawn into this game of chicken (mom's term) that she can't win.  All her posturing ("You don't summon me", kill orders) is just that, posturing.  Finally, it's all revealed.  She's doing this because daddy didn't love her enough.  Typical.

I said it before and now others (Jake) are saying it too.  She can't be Chief of Staff and Command.  Pick one.  At this point, she is totally sucking at Command.  She may not like her dad, but he truly has her pegged.

I don't believe for an instant that Quinn is dead. But, maybe Shonda will surprise us.  She did it on How to Get Away with Murder.  And, killing the Bashan president and niece was certainly a surprise.  I thought for sure Olivia had pulled a fast one on the plane blowing up.  Quinn being dead would put Olivia in an interesting position.  So, now what?  How will she retaliate?  Quinn being dead means she HAS to kill her father. And, dad seems fine with it.  Didn't learn from when she threatened Cyrus.  Everyone isn't going to kowtow to her whims.  Knowing that, and not being willing to do drastic things, means she has to be smarter.  At this point, she certainly isn't.  She needs to give up being Command and be Chief of Staff.  She is embarrassing herself.

My guess is that all this is an elaborate scenario -- conceived by Eli, with assists from Fitz, perhaps Jake and even Maya -- to show Liv who she is. That she is not what she is striving to be -- no better than Eli -- but what they thought she was. That is, someone superior to each of them. Someone who justifies their faith in her and the good she can accomplish; which in turn, they feel, redeems their own bad deeds. She's already demonstrated that even B613 can use its powers for good (as Jake himself suggested, earlier in the season) when she used it to find the missing girls. Of whom Olivia is one, morally, and has been for some time.

It's the same question David raised with Abby: what's the purpose, when and where does this end. To use Game of Throne terms -- as an outsider who gains power in part through strength of charisma, and in part through what is seen as strength of character, what do you want? Do you do want only what other leaders have gained, and only for themselves, not for the  common good? Do you want only a moment at the top of the wheel, or do you want to break the wheel?

Well, Joe Morton did rock a porn 'stache when he played the bomb squad captain in the great movie Speed back in the day, but he didn't twirl it  :)  He did have a great line when they found out that the freeway wasn't finished "You're fired!  Everone's fucking fired!!"  ROFL

About the dinosaur, not that it was germane to the plot, but damn, how did Liv get all that removed relatively fast?!?  That was a fucking T-rex, which is huge!  No job is too big for Command, I guess  :D

Speed is some of Joe Morton’s most fun work. I’m not even kidding. That movie is great for what it is.

Nice that the show remembered that Fitz and Mellie have a very young son. I was like, where was he during those boring-ass hundred days in VT?

Oh, I do also care about Quinn but I feel like this kidnapping is just to accommodate her real life pregnancy so I’m not quite as worried as I could be. I don’t think they’d really kill her. Buuuuuut maybe they could since it’s so close to being over anyway.

It did cross my mind Quinn and Papa Pope could be working together. Maybe not initially but they both see how far gone Olivia is so they teamed up.

Glad I’m not the only one who thought the candle gift to Cyrus (and how much they focused on it) was weird. Something is going on there. You don’t hire Hank Schrader just to play Cyrus’s love interest.

If Liv won't kill Eli, Maya or Quinn, how is she in charge?  Why is Jake still taking orders from her, when he is far more ruthless and dangerous?  Either Liv is a cold blooded killer who is Command, or she isn't.  If Liv can't make the hard decisions, and follow through on them, then she never would have gotten this much power in the first place.  I hate when TV shows want to have it both ways.

"You don't summon me!" Says the person who just arrived after being summoned. I so wanted Papa Pope to say "Well, actually, apparently I do!"

So Liv's assistant or whoever (who we never even saw until briefly last week) is so loyal to Liv (or Jake?) that she will go out and kill the TV guy for her? Where do you get these administrative assistant/murderers?

I have never bought Jake as NSA director. Don't buy him as a general or admiral or whatever he's supposed to be. Don't buy David as Attorney General. (Aren't there hearings when these positions are filled? How could these people possibly get approved?) But I never really bought Fitz as President; don't buy Mellie as President; don't buy Cyrus as anything but Chief of Staff. That one I bought. Olivia is supposed to be COS now? Have we ever seen her meeting with any of the staff? How does she get out of the office in the middle of the day to run over to 1235 Tweetybird Lane and spend an hour chewing scenery with her father?

It's just ridiculous but like others have said, I will go ahead and watch until the end.

These last few episodes I've often found myself wondering what's stopping Jake from putting a bullet in Liv's head and taking Command? How long is he going to be content to be her lapdog, especially since she really isn't cut out for the job? But I guess in the Scandalverse everyone is loyal Liv and she's always the smartest person in the room, even when she isn't.

That's what I was thinking too, because out of all those people, why would he pick Quinn? Abby was Liv's friend for longer, and she'd go ballistic if he took Huck. I know it's because of the RL pregnancy, but I'm guessing that Quinn's intel on Liv had something to do with it. Either he was spying on Liv and found out what Quinn knew from the monument convo, or Quinn went to him herself as a way to play Liv. In any case, no way is Quinn dead but depending on how long KL needs to be off, this may drag out for awhile.

Not sure how Rowan is going to get around the kill order though.

And why do I also think his name is Eli? Why am I confused about that?

I don't believe Quinn is dead. I think Papa Pope is going to use her in some grand scheme to get Olivia to calm the hell down and possibly take back control of B613, and Quinn will show up again later in the season (after Katie Lowes has had a proper maternity leave).

The emphasis on B613 basically ruined the show for me seasons ago, and I really wish it wouldn't be such a focal point in the final season but here we are. Maya is the real MVP in the Pope family as far as I'm concerned.

I thought it was Eli too.  I think one of them is his alias and the other a real name.

I think Quinn is working with him too. Maybe he did take her for real, but then they traded notes or something and decided to work together to take her down.

I believe his given name is Eli Pope.  That's the name he used in his "legitimate" job at the Smithsonian.  I think Rowan is strictly for B613.  I'm picturing a B613 orinetation for new recruits "You call me Rowan.  That is not my real name, but you will address me as that or as Command.  Do not think about trying to find out my real name!"  and other spechifying along that line . :)

I like Quinn, and I especially like Quinn/Charlie, but Marcus would have the least dirt on his hands. And after him, Abby (which isn't saying that much). I don't recall her ever torturing anyone. And actually Quinn isn't much better than Huck at all - and her beloved Charlie really isn't any better than Huck - but I am subjectively biased towards her because of Huck torturing her and the fact that Olivia blew up her entire life in the first place. (And the Charlie actor is a million times better than Guillermo Diaz.) That said, her reaction to Yasmeen's murder proves there's a seed of decency still in her, albeit likely hypocritical because her fiancé murdered Amanda Tanner, who didn't do anything other than have a fling with Fitz and so is almost as blameless as poor Yasmeen. But if I had to pick one of the crew to go to, well, it'd be Marcus first, and then Abby second. The quartet of torturers/murderers of Huck/Quinn/Charlie/Olivia are in a tie for last. I happen to like Quinn and Charlie more than I do Olivia, and much more than I do Huck, but I don't think there's really much difference between them morally. They'll all be in the same circle of hell.

On 11/17/2017 at 9:54 AM, Artsda said:

I wish Cyrus would kill Jake, he deserves it. I'm still not over him killing James.

I'm good with that. As long as somebody then kills Cyrus for all the people he's had killed, starting with Amanda Tanner in S1 through the unlucky people he set up to be killed to facilitate the nomination of Vargas. Really, this show should end with all of the regulars except Marcus dead. I actually like some of them, but morally almost all of them are awful, awful people.

Normally, the fact we weren't shown Quinn's body would make me completely certain that she's not dead. I still think she's probably not dead. But the combination of it being the last season and her being nine months pregnant makes me set the odds as more than zero that she's dead. The network may not have been okay with the idea of showing a nine months pregnant woman dead, and with them winding down the series, there's certainly plenty of room for them to kill off series regulars. It also depends somewhat on what Olivia's endgame is supposed to be. I'm also not completely sure that her endgame isn't supposed to be her as Command, with us seeing that she's given up her humanity to be it - if that's the endgame, then Quinn being dead would make a lot of sense. If she's going to ultimately pull back (for the zillionth time) and be "white hat" again, then Quinn's alive. And again, I think that's the likelier option. But I can't completely rule out the other.

Mellie and Olivia's scene was interesting. It was practically like a wedding. I knew what Mellie said would drive Olivia's decision, but I wasn't sure in which direction, since she covered both the country and being personally worth it. I guess from what Olivia said to Rowan about Quinn dying for the Republic that she went with the former.

This show never gets power struggles right, so I wasn't surprised that Olivia vs. Papa Pope was so ridiculous. After all, remember last season when he shot his own girlfriend dead so he wouldn't have any weaknesses, and then the bad guys were like, "Yeah, but what about your daughter?" and Rowan was all, "Doh!" and did everything they wanted anyway? And so of course the show doesn't mention the third option, even though we saw it again tonight - if Olivia doesn't want to kill her father, she could just imprison him like her mother. He's already mostly imprisoned, so it's not that far a step to one of those facilities like Maya is in. It's all so dumb.

The moment of the episode was definitely Maya laughing hysterically upon hearing that her ex-husband wants his dinosaur. Somebody should've killed Papa Pope seasons ago. He's an awful character and Joe Morton, while a competent actor, is terrible in the choices he makes for this particular role. I don't think it's all the direction's fault since other actors on the show do better with similar material of monologuing and whatnot.

And I do not know why in this final season we are still dealing with B-whatever nonsense. It was a terrible idea from the start and should not be part of the final episodes, but for some reason the writers just love B-whatever. There were other ways to take Olivia down a dark path that didn't involve shadowy organizations, which so rarely work out well.

I don't know, I feel like if the intent was to end the mid-season finale with a bang (no pun intended) and also to actually kill Quinn, they would've gone for the bigger gut-punch of him shooting her in front of Olivia. Boom, fade to black, OMG.

If the end game is to redeem Olivia, they have a long way to go and not much time left to get there.

I think it makes a better story if Quinn is dead. What is Liv going to do to keep her quiet about the plane bombing if she is alive? Not much she can do or is willing to do. However she will have to protect herself, right? So that's a conundrum.

Finally catching up on this season while most shows are on hiatus or reruns. I hate everything about Olivia now. I just can't see them redeeming her - or at least, realistically. I can TOTALLY see the writers thinking they've written a redemption, but it's ludicrous and/or falls flat with the audience. I enjoy her momentary bouts of fear, but she's really just afraid for herself so then I get mad at her all over again. She's not sorry about a single thing she's done - she'll only be sorry she got caught (if she does). Naturally, she wrestles with the potential death of her friend and her friend's baby, but feels not a lick of anything for all of the other people she's killed and their loved ones. "Tragedy all around," Liv says breezily.

If they're going to, they need to turn her character around immediately. Otherwise, I'll feel insulted if they try to pull her doing one good thing in the end like, "oh, see, she's putting the white hat on again, it's okay." But I don't even want them to try. I just want Olivia to keep going off the rails and pay the consequences. I want her yelling like a maniac, "you can't take command!!!" while she's being apprehended for her slew of heinous crimes. I want her in lifelong lockup, so disheveled that it makes her hostage days look like she was a supermodel. I want her reputation and legacy ruined, so that everything she thinks she did in the name of a better world is completely tainted and no one gives her any consideration for it. I want her remembered as the horrible person she is, and to be played in a Lifetime movie by an equivalent of Tori Spelling. I want Huck to come face-to-face with her and literally spit in her face. And in the last scene of the finale, I want the prison guards to tell Liv she has a visitor (she never has visitors), and she gets her hopes up it's Fitz. Except it's Maya, waltzing in wearing designer clothes and to a snappy Motown song, and she drawls, "how you doin', baby?" with a big fucking grin on her face that is actually crowing about how she's free on the outside and Liv is locked up. And then she shows Liv a picture of Rowan/Eli happily caring for HIS BONES.

ABC and the people behind this show are so dumb that I frankly expect them to announce they're working on a B613 spinoff because of course they think that's what people want.

I can't see them redeeming any of these people.  That ship sailed a long time ago.  I wish they had stuck with the premise that Liv was a great fixer, and the go to person to handle a scandal or disaster.  I would love for the show to end with Huck killing Liv and Fitz.  It amuses me that Huck of all people seems to see the way things are, "Because we're a bunch of killers."  Bonus points if mama and papa Pope kill each other before anyone can drone on endlessly about whatever it is they say when they start making stupid speeches.  If papa Pope didn't kill Quin, then he has truly lost all believability of being the great spy, manipulator, controller, whatever it was he was supposed to be.

Watching Rowan scream “I want my dinosaurs back” just as bad.

This is how they’re ending the show? It really is bad.
