My primary care person is a P.A. they absolutely take care of patients and write prescriptions.

I hate it when people inflate their titles with fancy words to sound smarter or fancier.  I appreciate she's probably smart and may end up a doctor or nurse or something but both those professions require higher education beyond college so I'm not sure how she is a pediatric nurse??  Annoying

It's like this girl on instagram who calls herself "doc" but when you ask what her degree is in, she says she's a "doctor of physical therapy" ... I think physical therapists are awesome and so important but I don't think she actually has an MD

Okay, clinical psychologist here. Anyone with a PhD is considered a doctor so yes, in my practice I am called Doctor. Medical doctors are just one type of doctor.

Not snide at all...reality. We don’t recognize anyone as Alumni or former if they didn’t complete a full year. And when I said “coattails”, I was referring to the circumstance in which she left...10 weeks of training camp, during which a movie was being made. She made her contacts, may have done 2-3 games, was given the cover of the calendar and then hightailed to LA without any notice. She has had a successful career, kudos to her.

I don’t think Certsen is trying to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes. She has a genuine interest and plan for the medical field. If her bio seems misleading, perhaps she needs to edit.

It's not only misleading, it is ILLEGAL for her to call herself a nurse. It should be changed asap and y'all should know better than that . That is putting the organization at risk for being sued.

Put a pole part way down that runway and you'd be forgiven for thinking you're in a strip joint.  the sexualisation of these girls while at the same time making them all 'look don't touch' is disgusting.  wasn't there a season (relatively early on) when they were told that boyfriends/husbands couldn't drop them off/pick them up at airports because they were recognisable and had to be seen to be single? or am i thinking of another show?

I have no idea, but I have noticed the girls who are married or engaged do not wear their rings during the swimsuit calendar shoot pictures. I guess they are trying to prove the girls are hot and single so more men will buy the calendars. I think Crystal said she did have to ask Kelli and Judy if she could use her married name in her last season. I also wonder if the girls like the area of walking down the runway looking like a high priced call girl because it is good for the calendar sales and for the squad. I do not see the football players asking to show their "assets" off to improve sales or attendance at football games.

On to the other topic at hand...My primary care provider is a physician assistant and last year I saw a GI physician assistant for stomach cramps and digestive issues. They both can order and prescribe medications, order tests, and do a general examination. My care provider does send me to doctors/specialists for certain things, but I see her for general routine medical needs. When I had my lovely colonoscopy and another digestion diagnoses type test, a GI specialist and two nurses were the ones doing the tests because I had to be put under. The drugs were great, but the stuff I had to drink the day before the two tests made me sick and miserable.

I might be the only person who didn't know this, but apparently Tom Landry (Head coach with the Cowboys for 29 years) was not a fan of the DCC at all, and did not want them cheering on the sidelines: https://weeklydcc.wordpress.com/2015/11/12/dallas-cowboys-cheerleaders-fraternization-with-players/ . Laundry felt they were "unwholesome", but Tex Schramm (original president and general manager of Dallas Cowboys) kept pressing to keep them. Schramm eventually showed Landry a clip from "Debbie Does Dallas", trying to make the point that this is what is considered "unwholesome". Schramm claimed that Landry watched for "two seconds" before bolting out of the room!

It definitely sounds like there has always been controversy over the cheerleaders' image. Trying to ensure they are appealing to guys, while at the same time keeping them "wholesome" appears to have always been a big struggle, and has resulted in the whole sexualization vs. "look don't touch" dichotomy that you describe above. I think that where we get odd discrepancies like when Kelli told Keyra not to try to be so sexy in her expressions, but yet at the same time Kelli picks out super revealing bikinis for the girls to wear....it's interesting.

I guess I am in the minority because I do not think Cersten is all that. I think Judy and especially Kelli are wanting to have another Mia or Jackie Bob, but to me, there are no current DCCs who could compare to Jackie or Mia or even come close.

But Mia and Jackie Bob weren’t Mia and Jackie Bob starting out. They both developed into excellent DCCs, which is how most of these ladies get great. I think we unfairly compare today’s rookies and second- and third-year girls to vets of yesteryear without taking into account that most of the previous girls didn’t really get great until their fourth or fifth year. I’m guilty of doing that with Kashara. She’s only a third year and I’ve been comparing her as point to girls who became point in their fourth or (typically) fifth year. It’s not really fair. Experience always helps.

True, but both Mia and Jackie blossomed in their first year after barely making the team. The same thing with Jordan C. her first year. She barely made the team, but her second year she came back strong.  Cersten could go for more years, but to me she still would not be a stand out. Sadly, in my opinion, the squad is not as good as it was in Seasons 2 to 5. Yes, there were blenders and not so great dancers in those seasons, but as a whole, the team stood out more.

While I understand not wanting to misrepresent yourself, most of us (general public) don't know the difference between RN, LPN, LVN and whatever else there is. To us a nurse is a nurse and we're trusting you to do whatever you're trained to do. I do understand adding "assistant" or "aide" to the end of a title usually indicates "not the "real" thing" (for lack of a better term) & are there to assist/help the "real thing" but that's about it (no idea what they can/can't assist with). Call me stupid, but if anyone comes in to start my IV line, I'm assuming it's because they're trained to do so. I'm not checking their name tag for their title/qualifications because, let's be honest, I would only know there was a problem if their tag said something non-medical like security or janitor. ?

THIS is precisely why we take our titles seriously and correct as needed.  The general public has no hope of understanding our roles if people like Cersten state "pediatric nurse" as her occupation when she's not a nurse.

Promise that is my last beating of the dead horse.  Carry on.  =)

I just saw this post.  Wow.  Talk about UNCOMFORTABLE - uncomfortable for me to watch and uncomfortable for those girls to attempt a walk in those stiletto boots.  Seriously - so many of the girls could barely walk in those things.  Everything about this (including the cheap stage coverings) screams "girls for hire!"

Yea, but when I went and looked at her bio, I didn't take it as her saying she was a "pediatric nurse," but as a pediatric nurse assistant/medical assistant (the actual wording is "pediatric nurse and medical assistant"). I can see where the misunderstanding comes in (and it probably should be clarified since it's obviously causing confusion), but I really think she just didn't put the word "assistant" in twice. Maybe that's the way they list her title at her job. Even with my limited knowledge, I know there is a big difference between nurses and medical assistants. Why would you list yourself as a medical assistant if you're a nurse?

Do you remember in auditions when some of the judges made a comment about Alexandria (I think that was her; she wore a red dress for her solo) looking too muscular?  Kelli answered that the uniform would hide her arms.  I'm wondering if Kelli doesn't like a really "ripped" body and, since you can't hide your abdomen in that uniform, she chose a post of Lauren from the back.  Lauren's face looks really pretty in her cameo; she's one of my new favorites.

That was Lacey, the former St Louis Rams cheerleader, not Alexandria.

Mia barely made it but Jackie did not barely make it. Jackie had pro bowl experience and some office drama only for the show.

Jordan C made it on her personality and looks, not dance. Never was strong, but well liked.

Cersten is strong, just actually thought more about med school that first year so didn't volunteer for a ton. Now she's all wrapped up in DCC so she's gonig full out.

Jackie was "at risk" because of her kicks and even at the end she couldn't get her lines right..so yeah, she was still sort of on the bubble.

Trust me that was entirely for the show. She was never really on the bubble. Already had job lined up for her and everything.

It is illegal. Terms like "nurse" are protected by state laws. Just like I couldn't go around calling myself a psychologist without actually being one or I would get sued. These professions names are protected to protect the consumers and public from getting taken advantage of.

Is Emma filling in? It looks like her in 11th one.

I was looking at the cameos and some  aren't that good.

Keyra's eyes look huge.

Khalyn doesn't even look like herself.

Gina always seems to have that snotty face in her pictures.

Molly and Rachel almost look like the same person.

Robin's doesn't look right, her face looks odd shaped.

Selina's face looks fake

Tasha's neck looks weird; her neck bones  are showing

Lacey looks really pretty in pic #14.   Same thing w/ Jenna in #18.   Kelli looks very, very old in #17 - sometimes I think she looks like Judy from the chest up...I don't get why she looks so old?  Maybe her neck is sundamaged and her face very botoxed?  Makeup/styling?

Stephanie and Jessica have weight issues, but nowhere near as bad as some of the girls last year - so overall the squad is much more fit IMO.

I wonder if Jenna will be going on the USO Overseas Holiday Tour.

I would think as long as she has behaved herself since the texting incident she would be okay to go. I don't think it was supposed to be a year long punishment. She just didn't get point "back" after her punishment period because it would have been unfair to Kashara. If something happened where Kashara could no longer be point I think Jenna would be considered for it again (as long as she is behaving), they just weren't going to take it from Kashara to give it to Jenna.

Jenna did it to herself. She broke the rules and thought she could get away with it. I am sure there is a lot more to Jenna's story than what was shown on the show and how it is related Holly and Erica. She needs to realize she is not all that, and the team can and will survive without her.

Erica did not do ANYTHING to prevent her stuff being aired. Already had two bad girl storylines  one cut/left, the other took her punishment and stayed.

More hurtful to Erica to not even be considered worth a storyline. Just ice her out.

I think Jenna thought that she could get away with breaking rules probably because she and other people have gotten away with it in the past. However, I don’t think that Jenna thinks that the team cannot survive without her. If she did, she would’ve pulled a “Holly” and dipped. If anything, she seems to think that she cannot survive without the DCCs, and I think it’s a bit sad. After seeing the way everything was aired and more importantly seeing Kelli’s apparent disdain for her at this point (Kelli doesn’t hide her emotions well), i think most people would be ready to put the team in the rearview mirror, but i wouldn’t be surprised if she wants to be an All Star. Dancewise, I’m all for it but for her sake, i think she needs to go and find something else to do.

I was wondering if that was the case.  I can believe that at that point they were just tired of the veterans' behavior and ready to move on.

Um so looks like we clearly needs some education about medical professions.

First off CERSTEN = graduated from LSU. She was working as a surg tech/medical assistant. She is NOT and never has been a nurse of any way shape or form. Not a Registered Nurse or a LVN/LPN. Maybe a nurse assistant. TOLD Y'ALL HER DR. CERSTEN CLAIMS WERE SIDE EYE WORTHY. She didn't have scores before and is too wrapped up in DCC now.

Registered Nurse is indeed as somebody said a protected title. My mom is a RN. She went to a 2 year college and got an Associate's degree, passed her RN boards, then went on to do a BSN (four year nursing degree). You can get your nursing degree but never pass boards, and without passing boards you are NOT a registered nurse. Lauren is indeed a registered nurse, but not working full time as one.

Cersten is like Jackie Bob was. Surg tech/medical assistant which meant she prepped rooms and tools for surgery. I don't know if either of them actually assisted during surgical procedures, but I don't think Cersten is doing brain surgery. You can get a surgical technician two year degree, but a lot of hospitals also hire people who are in nursing school, trying to get into med school, from other countries where their creds don't work in the US, etc. as surg techs. If Cersten says she's a nurse she is a liar.

Physical therapy - that is my major. There are two year physical therapy assistant degrees, and there are some places that hire physical therapy 'assistants' who are more like activity coordinators who just ambulate patients and do ROM type stuff. Real physical therapists end up with a Dr. of Physical Therapy degree (DPT), after finishing grad school/physical therapy school. Depends on the program but most have a four year degree in something then two years in PT grad school for the DPT, or like me, a three plus two program where you go five straight years and end up with a DPT - IF you pass boards as well. Similar to pharmacy school (Pharm D.). Neither are Ph.D.s.

ETA : phone won't cooperate but people with 2 year PTA degrees do more than people who are just hired as the 'fake' assistants who don't have a degree. Not dissing PTAs. They work hard and do the dirty work. I work in summer as a PTA extern/assistant, and trust me it is exhausting helping people regain strength. Rewarding, but exhausting for us and more for the patients.

Cersten may work with kids in some way, and she may want to go back to school to be a pediatric nurse, but she has a biology degree, NOT an nursing degree of any way, shape or form.

I love PTs and PTAs. I also shout out OTs, OTAs, and speech therapists as well. I wouldn't be 80-90% functional without them!

in fact, if I wasn't so sick, I'd go back to school for it.

The "other stuff" is really not as, what's the word........pervasive, I think.  It's a small percentage of what really goes on behind the scenes.

To me, every season has the ones that blend, the ones that are technically gifted, but can't perform, the ones with the whole package, etc.  I've liked them all, but to me what is different is that it's become more of "a show."  Girls are brought into camp who shouldn't be, situations are created (ie - an office visit for someone who doesn't need to be brought into the office), etc.  We don't get a chance to see the ones who are doing a good job cause we see the ones with issues.

Except for what people post here, I don't really pay a lot of attention to social media, but I think you bring up a good point.  As @scorpio1031 said, every season has its blenders etc...and may I add those who make you scratch your head and wonder how they made it...but there did seem to be a different quality about them in the earlier seasons.  With the prevalence of social media, I wonder if that quality is that there was some more mystery about them, which made them more intriguing.

I don’t really think that the teams were that much better in the past, if at all. I think in general, it’s easy to look back on things more fondly than you did when it happened. In many of the arts and sports that i follow, people are constantly saying that the sport/art was better in the past than now, and I’m sure people will be saying the same thing in 20 years. So, nostalgia is some of what is at play IMO, but I do think social media has an impact as well.

The team has always had standouts, blenders, and girls who you were like, “how did she make the team again.” Now, I think there are some teams that are clearly on the weaker side (this year and season 6 for example), but those downturns have occurred due to either an unusually large number of vets retiring (S6), or a the team losing many of its best dancers (this year). Every team goes through rebuilding phases every once in a while, so no big deal.

It’s more likely understood that it’s her last seeing as she was initially going to retire after last season. I don’t think she’s going to stay another year just for point when she was in the doghouse this season anyway.

also, it's well known in the Dallas dance scene that Miss Cersten thinks quite highly of herself and has a lot in common with Gina ....

Yes she has the "better than you" attitude and looks down on others as it's rare to be on her level in her mind. Honestly , I've heard more about her attitude towards other people far more than Gina's. I'm actually surprised Kitty or Kelli and Judy haven't mentioned it as even people on the CMT crew have had an issue with Cersten in the past (rookie year). You would think that with Kelli and Judy being so good at picking up on "fake" would have realized that. But then again they ate up Chelseas act.

I suspect that most of these girls have a bit higher, ahem, "self-confidence" than most.  It would not surprise me at all if Cersten is more self-absorbed than portrayed on the show.  It's all in how the storyline unfolds - they'll show Cersten in a good light and people like Vivian and Gina in a negative light if it goes along with the story they want to tell.

Interesting. Question for everyone I guess.. do you think the teams were legitimately better in the earlier seasons? Or do you feel as though the reason we saw those squads as “better” is because there wasn’t as much social media so we don’t see the ‘other stuff’ as much?

(hope that made sense)

For me there is a LOT more blenders and poor dancers this season. there's also a difference between a blender who is a good dancer but nothing outrageouslly special, and then girls that are poor dancers with poor technique and this year esp has too many of the latter.  also the level of the dances is just getting sloppier - lines are sloppy as hell on the sideline, something Judy is supposed to be militant about yet pictures have been posted with an entire Group out of alignment with each other on their lines and all in different places in the dance (not choereographed differently, all doing same move but some ahead and some behind), for all the kickline is their signature too many of the girls this season have poor to very poor kicks and the timing on the kickline is someof the worst Ive seen. in recent years, which given how easy it is to injure those around you in the kickline, jumping too early or late consistantly is just worrying.  tis year is just rough as hell, IMO. do i think all previous years were phenomenal, absolutly not.  but this year seems to have a much higher percentage of girls that would not have made it on the squad in previous years. thre are girls from previous years let go for kicks that coasted onto the team this  year.

The girls from 2008 and before that were just plain GOOD. I think once AT&T Stadium got built, things have not been the same. And, I still can't forgive the DCC brass for that Candyman routine with those fug costumes. I think that moment was a bit of a downhill slide, or at the very least a speed bump.

Blame the giant new video screens that make a ripped figure & perfect face more essential than killer dance & appealing personality. Would my early MTT faves (Kandi & Brooke) have even made finals in the current climate?

I most certainly put some of the blame on that video screen, but also on those who actually CHOOSE the team.  There are plenty of gorgeous girls that are outstanding dancers and most have shown how good they are over the course of three days plus interviews etc. yet more than a few never make it into Training Camp and some never come back after that one year of auditioning.

I remember there was one girl a couple years ago who was a good dancer, beautiful, etc. but didn't make the squad and Kelli hoped she would come back, but hasn't yet.  After she left Training Camp, she went back to one of the hockey team dance squads for a year or so then seemed to disappear entirely.  Sadly, I can't remember her name.  Then there's Taryn.  Beautiful, good dancer, practically everything they wanted except not as good with kicks, and gets cut but they take Christina whose kicks are just as bad (if not worse) and seems to have issues with timing in her jump splits nearly every time she does them.  Nearly the same with Brennan, except, for Brennan, it was her facials.  Did they ever think that maybe she was nervous/scared/worried and that tension was reflected in her face?  Could that have been fixed?  I think if Brennan had been in dance competitions more, she would have known how to NOT put all her tension in her face.

Obviously, I just chose examples from recent seasons, but I have to wonder about WHY they chose some girls and not others.  Granted, we see very little of what's going on behind the scenes with these girls so we don't know the entire reason why they were cut (hence speculation on my part), but shouldn't they have to live up to the standards they set and choose girls who can achieve those standards instead of possibly being perceived as lowering those standards for some and not for others?

I remember Jay's comment about Brooke, "I haven't worked with a cheerleader this big before." Ugh Jay, you're so washed up.
