  1. All the bolded points are my emphasis, and truly where the rubber meets the road. This is not victim-blaming; this is about an organization that holds incredible power over all things in Dallas, so much that these women are forced to make decisions based on their own self-preservation rather than what is fair and just. Meanwhile, the abhorrent behavior of a top executive is excused and brushed under the rug by throwing chump-change (in Jerry's world) at the problem with a NDA firmly in place. UNACCEPTABLE. I have to say, the revelation of this story is the push I needed to finally give up on this show once and for all. I've struggled with supporting this organization and how disempowering it is to women (despite their assertions to the contrary), and this absolutely sealed it for me. I will never watch, comment on, or otherwise support the Cowboys organization again. They are complete garbage.
  2. If my memory is still sharp, "Moon River" was more Big's parents' song. Made sense to me they would choose something different for Big and Carrie, although I did love them dancing to Moon River in that episode.
  3. So disappointing. I'm all for women having opportunities to tell their stories, but that doesn't automatically translate into good writing. Especially if said writers are hired for a series that already has highly developed, aged characters.
  4. Agreed. The writers missed almost every opportunity for growth and character development in their blindness for progressive themes. A talented writing cast should have been able to seamlessly incorporate these ideas, and their lack of talent is now on full display.
  5. Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky were writers on SATC and seem to be in their fifties. Keli Goff and Samantha Irby are in their early forties. Both have previous work that embraces themes of social justice, diversity, etc. Rachna Fruchbom is 29 years old, previous credits include Parks and Recreation.
  6. Late to the party, so apologies if any of my points are repeats! Charlotte's anger over the apology to Harry seems more to do with her desire to keep tennis as her own solo hobby. Nothing wrong with that, but just say that to your husband rather than curse him out on the street and childishly withhold apologies. Same with Miranda. Compare her reaction to seeing Robert Leeds in their hallway (after the cheerleader incident) versus seeing Che. I really liked that Che told her to ask for what she wants directly, but why should a side fling be the one to remind her of this character trait that she already mastered years ago? These are just a few examples of what is really grating to me about this show - we're to believe that these characters have shown ZERO meaningful growth from their thirties? It's become insulting to my intelligence. Ironically, the only one who HAS evolved is...Samantha.
  7. Season 8 - Sandra Lynn from L.A. She didn't make it past prelims, which I thought was a bummer. She was definitely a better dancer than a one Kathryn Dunn. ETA: A quick internet search (using her full name of Sandra Colton) reveals an extensive background in dance and entertainment.
  8. I've always loved Miranda and Steve as a couple, and I'm also able to understand that Miranda is not the same character that she was in the first series. She seems so miserable to be unrecognizable, and I'm a bit more forgiving in that aspect. I don't think this is top-notch acting or storytelling by any stretch, but I'm also not expecting her to do things that would be within the scope of her former self (such as talking with Steve about her unhappiness or putting her foot down with Brady and his girlfriend). She's just not there right now.
  9. I think you are spot-on. I don't see a Che and Miranda storyline going forward, but I definitely see Miranda having to grapple with this probable fact.
  10. I'm right there with you. Didn't hate the episode, didn't love it. I REALLY enjoyed the diaphragm story and Samantha's text responses. It was fun, and probably the only time I've laughed during this show so far. I would love to see more storylines like this, if only to remind me of the characters I loved. I understand everyone/everything changes and matures, but I'm struggling to see anything fun with them now. Especially Carrie. Unpopular opinion - I don't mind Che. I appreciate Sara Ramirez' portrayal, and they are the only one making their character believable (even though I find some facets potentially problematic). Although I'm still loving me some bitchy Anthony too.
  11. Recalling Miranda walking up to total strangers in her “skinny jeans” to ask for weed, I agree that she shouldn’t be so weird about it. Unfortunately, It’s believable for her character now. She has strayed so far from the original Miranda that she’s unrecognizable in nearly every aspect. I’m not enjoying it, but I understand.
  12. I'm 99% convinced that Dexter will die in the end with the next series focusing on Harrison (and Dex taking a Harry/Deb role for him in the background). Wouldn't shock me if Harrison is the one that kills Dexter.
  13. My biggest criticism about Cassie exiting the stage is that she's clearly not up to standards if she cannot do the kick line. I get that cheerleaders get injured (and she had major issues with her knee that year - a whole separate complaint that she was even allowed on the team), but she needed to step back and either not perform or let an alternate sub in. I'm not sure is this was the USO tour she injured her knee on (as she described in her talking head in Season 7), but either way, she shouldn't have been allowed on the stage. But NO, they'll do everything they can to showcase Cassie on a coveted USO tour and give her opportunities that almost no other cheerleader would get.
  14. Season 7 (2012) Kelli: "The kickline is a dealbreaker because we do it at every performance, and we can't have the girls be mid-field on the 50-yard line and then a couple wave goodbye and run off because they don't have good kicks." Unless your name is Cassie, who clearly runs off at about 2:24 to avoid the kickline. What, no goodbye wave?
  15. It wasn't quite the 50th anniversary (2008 would have been the 47th if my math is correct), but they did a very similar celebration for their last season at Texas Stadium:
