She acts like she's never heard of a woman's biological clock before. What the hell was she doing in her twenties? There wasn't a single man in the Philippines (or anywhere else) that wasn't a suitable mate? For same reason lots of women put that off....waiting for a better choice? Aika also used her prime years to make some money through escort and "entertaining" bar patrons. What's sad is that after so many encounters and after other suitors, the best she could do was Josh. I think this is where TLC and the 15 seconds of fame really messes people off. Everyone except Andrei is hungry for attention in this season. And I bet Andrei went ahead with the show only to make some money to defray his "getting started" expenses. Josh never intended to seriously reversed his vasectomy or have kids with Aika or no one else. He strikes me as someone who likes his life the way it is and doesn't want to hassle that is having kids. If Aika is serious about wanting to be a mom, she needs to split. Josh does not want to play daddy. Neither does Luis. and Hazan is playing stepdaddy out of pity to Mae. 5 Link to comment

I'll put money on the idea that modesty was required for her wedding to take place in the church. I've seen that before and, no, it didn't surprise me one iota. I honestly didn't have a problem for it. She is only 18 after all and certainly not all that much in touch with her womanliness. ETA: My sister wore our mom's wedding gown (Mom married in 1948; sister in 1971). My mom was married in November in a beautiful heavy gown that had to have been murder for my sister who married in August (both in SE Pennsylvania, where it gets stinky hot in August). Also, with respect to Annie and Aika - I may have related this before, but I was dating a guy a few years back who married his 'Chinese pen-pal' when he brought her to the States. That was over ten years ago (he e-mailed me with his wedding photos - we hadn't quite yet broken off our relationship....). Anyway, he relocated her from New Hampshire to Savannah, GA, set her up in a nail salon business in the shopping mall. She started to do some things that were patently illegal here in the States (he was in law enforcement) and she pretty much told him to STFU. About three years ago, for health reasons, he had to move to Tennessee. At last report (his birthday was on the sixth of this month), she still hadn't relocated to Tennessee. I've asked him for an update on the situation, still trying to be sympathetic. He told me, if he'd shared the story with me, I'd probably call for the men in white coats to take him away. I'm guessing that means he's still married to her, but in name only. Edited December 11, 2017 by b2H More to the story. 1 Link to comment

I'd get a 2nd opinion IvF doesn't work until they detox themselves. People just gather microbes and other bacteria through life, which is why the first person they should see is a reproductive pathologist. This complicated procedure involves cleansing both male and female. This is very common in Europe prior to conceiving and greatly reduces miscarriages. Even if Aika only dated a couple of guys, she is carrying with her, any bacteria they might have passed and it is that bacteria that often causes miscarriages to occur. I could speak about this for ages, but in essence, they are going about it in the wrong order. 6 Link to comment

Yeah, David's an asshole and terrible, but her beef is with him, not Annie. She clearly took some pleasure in mouthing off to Annie and thinking she was going to cause issues. Like father, like daughter. I feel particularly bad for Jacob b/c he seems like a kid who just wishes his father was a better man. Be responsible and a (wo)man of your word. 2 - Passionate and Affection. The way his children addressed him, specially Snooki tells me that he wasn't a very affectionate father and may be harboring unresolved conflicts. 3 - Intelligence, Drive and some Ambition to get things done. David is not intelligent, he has no drive to improve his life and zero ambition. 4 - Humor and Humility (by the way, David is not humorous. You may laugh at him because he is a sad clown, but not because of his creativity and wit. And let's not confuse Humility with being poor. 5 - Healthy lifestyle and Clean. David doesn't take care of himself and you can see it on his appearance and how he handles himself. People who get very drunk on a regular basis also do not strike me as care for their health. I look at these five points and at the sad couples this season features and know for sure most of them will not go ahead with wedding or will fall apart within 12 months. 4 Link to comment

And I get the feeling that Elizabeth isn't so into the whole thing anyways. Plus Andrei is controlling but I think Elizabeth is kind of into it. Popular Post AmyBre December 11, 2017 Popular Post Share December 11, 2017 I would love it if TLC/Sharp can avoid the following cliches in future seasons. 1 - Please stop the whole automatic modeling photo shoot thing. None of them (except poor Pao and Anfisa) make it past the photoshoot because they are not exotic enough or professional enough or connected enough to be actual real models. Please stop! Their infatuated boyfriends may think they are model material, but you know damn well that they are not. 2 - Stop picking ALL losers and pick a couple or two with actual chances of making it. Please pick at least one mature couple that we can root for. 3 - Please mix up the American Male and poor foreign Female dynamic, and pick some American women, preferably NOT wealthy-looking or Upper Middle class like Libby. Just think regular folk. 4 - Pick a couple where the foreigner is a better economic position than the American. I know lots of men and women who have married into wealthy foreign families. They exist. 5 - Stop pushing the "Daddy" agenda on the stepfathers. Those relationships take years to form and producers pushing participants to use those words is just wrong. Notice how they have done it in other seasons/related shows. 6 - Please have more background into the participants. More about their lives back in the original countries, their families, etc. Notice how we know little or nothing about Andrei. In summary, walk away form the cliches and bring some fresh faces and fresh angles to this. I have written about viewer fatigue in the past and the present formula is quite worn out. 25 Link to comment

It was more involved than that. He was sort of smirking while he talked about it being her body that was the problem, she refuted that because she's not an idiot despite what that doc might think, and at some point she raised an eyebrow and said, "what do you want, me to find another man?" And THAT'S when he lost his shit. The part I found most interesting was that he got ugly and she immediately and kind of quietly said, "Fuck you." He said "say that again and I'll leave and leave your ass here." And she immediately said again, and then a third time. But likely completely dead-pan and barely raised voice. I think he's an ass and she's stupid to stick with him, but I at least have hopes that she's strong enough not to be his next punching bag. 8 Link to comment

It is scientific fact that women's chances of becoming pregnant decrease with age, especially after 35, although certainly it can still happen. But pretty much every woman in my family hits menopause by her early 40s, so there would be no way I'd be having a kid at 46. It is important for women to be aware of the science behind it because there are women who think they have plenty of time and when they settle down in their late 30s suddenly can't get pregnant and are devastated, understandably. Many of my friends are going through that, and in vitro doesn't always work and is expensive. Having kids later in life works for many women, but it also doesn't work for many women. Aika probably still could have a kid, but she shouldn't be wasting her time with a guy who has zero interest in it! Only using your post as a jumping off point -- anyone considering parenthood later in life shouldn't be scared by the statistics, either. I've always hated how they make it sound like older moms are at higher risk of having kids with Down syndrome, etc. Statistically, if you look at the numbers, there are more babies born to younger women with this condition. It just looks worse for older women because after 40, the rate of women having children declines sharply, so, yeah, of course it's going to look like there's a higher chance of something like that. 5 Link to comment

I'd spent my 30s enjoying a single life, cultivating my career, my friendships, and my passions, but wasn't in nor close to being in a relationship. I decided I would do it on my own, and set a three-year plan in motion to get my financials, body, and life in order for a baby. I also joined a single-mothers-by-choice group and spent A LOT of time grieving and putting to bed the idea of a loving relationship with a co-parent. Three years later, I'd actively started 'shopping sperm' and was ready to take the next step, when suddenly who turned out to be the love of my life, whom I'd known peripherally for almost ten years, rolled into my life out of nowhere, and now we have a three year old daughter and are getting ready to adopt a baby. That wasn't brief, sorry, but your post just resonated with me--things really do work out like they're going to, NOT the way we plan them. The fact that she chose Josh shows that she didn't have a whole lot going on in the Phillipines. I still want to know her story. I'd like to know Aika's back story too. She is arguably attractive and is fluent in English. So, how did she end up with a man who is twice divorced, lives with roommates and by all appearance is eking out a living? I don't think Aika is someone to be pitied. She seems calculating and manipulative. I believe there is more to her than meets the eye. 12 Link to comment

He just isn't. She'll never be important in his life. He's an alcoholic. Annie did need to hear those things. It's not going to stop her because she doesn't plan to stay with him longer than it takes to get a green card anyway. Again, Ashley, don't be an a$$hole. Let Annie gold dig in peace! I'm sure David was not a great father and I guess further down the line he was pretty awful hence not having a relationship with his son. However it seems like he has been his daughters life. He said he's the one that took her to doctor's appt when she was pregnant and Ashley even said he used to come over for dinners with her family (not sure if that includes a husband or just kids?) And it sounds like there's maybe an issue with mom too? Didn't Ashley say something like "and you just left him with mom!" And I feel bad for the son but it seems like Ashley is being a bitchy brat. She's an adult, she has kids. Her dad got the opportunity to have a new start in life and do it in Thailand and he said yes. Maybe she should blame what's his face for financing David's life the past 4 years otherwise he would have been home? When your kids are adults you can do whatever you want. 2 Link to comment

gingerella December 11, 2017 Share December 11, 2017 Re: Luis and his gaslighting, yes he is a fucking psycho and needs to be deported immediamente. But re: his religious beliefs...there are I think at least 3 main types of voodoo in DR - one is Haitian (which is more organized with rules, regs and so on), the Dominican Voodoo is more loosey goosey and depends on the practitioner. And then there is something that is closer akin to Santeria - which marries Catholicism and Voodoo together, which is why you see Catholic deities on those tall glass cylinder candles you get in a bodega. So I'm sure the references he was making were from one of those three beliefs, but obviously he's been trying to extricate himself from this situation for weeks now, through his shitty behavior towards the kids, or through his lazy assing around the house, or his shitty attitude in general. This was his last straw, the one he knew would push her over the edge and send his ass packing. He probably doesn't have a return plane ticket so he has to figure a way for her to ship him back. He's a scary PoS. Re: Aika waiting so long...the Philipines is a devoutly Catholic country and unlike in some Latin America countries where they preach a good game about premarital sex and you have a high rate of teen pregnancies, in the Philipines being an unwed mother is something extremely shameful and stigmatizing. That said, if she was a former sex worker, she's likely spent most of her adult life trying to prevent herself from becoming pregnant, since she would be an unwed mother (assuming others didn't know she was a sex worker, which we dont know, do we?). Anyway, I just figured she'd taken a long time to hook a dude who'd actually follow through and bring her over and now she wants an anchor baby pronto. Alot of foreign men tell these Asian women they'll bring them home, but they're usually already married and cheating on their spouses so they just string along these women as long as they can with return visits, but never bringing them to the US, so the ones that actually make it here (Annie, Aika) I'm sure they've been through this game many, many times before we see them on this show. 4 Link to comment

Plus, she didn't seem to be too thrilled about this night, and perhaps he was giving her an "out" if she got fed up. I know 36 isn't a spring chicken but it's not that old to conceive. There are many women that wait until they've focused on their careers first before becoming pregnant, second marriages, and other valid reasons to have a baby a bit later. 16 hours ago, poeticlicensed said: I'm sorry, what woman doesn't know that fertility decreases with age. Why is,Aika looking so shocked? I went to school with some people from the Philippines. They were all related to a doctor that practiced at our local hospital. They established themselves here, and then he started bringing his brothers and sisters and their families over. This was during the Ferdinand Marcos times. I learned after a while not to get close to any of them because they were gone in one school year - they'd stay for a few months and then move on. They told me that motherhood and babies were highly valued in their society. Also, divorce is generally not an option, so that could be why she hung out for so long before grabbing Josh. I also think she looked shocked because the doctor greatly overblew their situation. 16 hours ago, mamadrama said: I felt rage in my heart at Luis' laughter. Actual rage. Yep. Could they shove a needle in there and extract some without doing a reversal? 13 hours ago, Desert Rat said: Fun fact, Aika, a man who has had a vasectomy is no less a man, no damage to manhood. I should know, my husband had one about 15 years ago. My husband had one too. We had a heck of a time finding a doctor who would do it because we never had kids, but when he was pushing 40, we found one. He was understanding that I was advised to not even try to get pregnant due to great health risks, and that my husband's first reaction wasn't to leave me for someone who he could get pregnant. But you'd be amazed at how many men out there still think that it affects their bedroom life, and I've run in to one recently who actually believed they castrate you (he grew up on a farm with an 8th grade education, but still....), and how many men believe that their manhood is directly tied to ho many babies they can put in to the world (and many times, not care for or pay for). And yes, they can extract from him for IVF - the vasectomy doesn't prevent the body from making swimmers - it just prevents them from coming out. After a few days, they die, and the body absorbs them, and it starts all over - no different than if a guy goes a few days without any "release". 14 hours ago, Arwen Evenstar said: Stwwwwwwwokkkkkke za peeeeeeeenis! Annie is not an innocent victim who is going into this blind by love, she is a very practical woman who found her ticket to America via a loser like David. She doesn't care that he is an awful human being, a horrible father, a cheater and someone who hangs around prostitutes, word around is that this is exactly how he met Annie. Annie is going to make this work for the 2-3 years that is required before she can divorce him and then hopefully she will find another sucker (with more resources) and move on. The only reason why she is pretending IMO that she is so "shocked" by all this is because she knows it build a better case for her to divorce him sooner claiming some kind of abuse. Annie knows this is a game, she is playing it like a pro. No feelings involved here. The only feelings she has is probably rage that her first victim (older rich guy) didn't want to marry her and now she has to endure this guy who she is so repulsed by. She never thought that the Green Card would demand so much work and humiliation, but alas it is what it is. Ashley could tell Annie that her father is an alien with three heads and she would still marry him. Still absolutely zero justification for Ashley for such scenes. Right time, right place. My only hope in this whole circus is that Annie still has a soft spot on her callous heart and she doesn't bring a child into the mix. That would be inexcusable. I completely agree. However, there is a part of me that feels sorry for anyone who feels they need to glom onto some awful loser like David to escape her circumstances. 11 Link to comment

Although it could be that he was just happy Nikole was going home the next day. Evelyn, dear, I had that red/white striped sweater with buttons on shoulder in the 80's. I guess it must be from second second secondhand store. Off to finish the second half of the episode. Edited December 11, 2017 by ava111 4 Link to comment
