Jessa, Ben and Their Brood: Making a (Diaper) Mountain out of a Mold House

OH man super bowl party? I wonder if they watched the half time show???? LOL.

She must have had a fast labor if she was at a super bowl party that night then had S2 at 4 am.

Glad everything seems to have gone well.

They probably thought Gaga was some crazy possessed witch.

I'm thrilled that it's not a girl.

As much as Jessa denies it, she clearly was worn down by Ben to accept the name Spurgeon. I wonder if that's happening again, or if she's embraced the ridiculous is trying to top the hideousness of Spurgeon, on top of always wanting to build fake suspense like with the twin thing. She know how everyone hates the name of their first child and are all wondering how awful this one's name will be.

Adonirum Sponge Bob Squarepants Seewald?

Zwingli Pentateuch Deuteronomy Seewald?

Hyles Tozer Seewald?

Moody Bunyan Seewald?

Dear Lord, please allow the miracle of common sense to descend on these nitwirs to give their child a socially acceptable name...Amen.

I'm dying to know if Jessa used a real midwife (Mrs. Query is a close friend, why not her?) rather than Dr. Jill, Medicine Woman? If they used Jill, they seriously lucked out; I'm glad Jessa and baby are reported to be doing well. If I hear that Teresa the Toilet Doula was anywhere near the place, I'll scream. But with everything going well, she wouldn't have to make a run for it, like she apparently did last time. Those Fedoskys like their camera time, and I imagine that TLC actually filmed this one.

eta: Looked around Duggar social media, and there's  raidio silence: only the birth announcement (they linked the Seewald blog...same as what was in People) on DFO with no pictures. I guess that means no pictures until they send something to accompany the People article, or we get a short video tonight during a (very late) commercial break. KEEP WATCHING STUFF WE DID MONTHS AGO TO SEE OUR BABY!!!!

If she went into labor at the Super Bowl party, maybe they'll name the little guy Brady. That's probably what a normal non-fundy couple would do (if they're not a Falcons fan or a fan of another AFC East team).

I know such family, the father is obsessed with Tom Brady.

Looks like a newborn, all right.  Fortunately my computer's audio is out so I never click on the vids, thus don't ever hear their pronouncements.

The pic is further down, love. You won't need to endure the vid to see the baby.  He's cute!

I don't care what they name him, in my heart he will always be Fosdick.

Polycarp was in one of the lists posted here, but seems to ancient for their tastes. If they have a Polycarp book, and their theme is horrible names, Polycarp beats Fosdick, but Fosdick beat Polycarp in odds.

I'm not gonna mock Zwingli 'cause I love it!

Not sure whose house that is, but it's nice to see Jessa socializing with non-Duggars and Spurgeon with other kids that he's not related to.

Even though a Super Bowl party full of babies, toddlers and no booze sounds like my worst nightmare come to life, I agree. It's good for Jessa and her family to escape the Duggar vortex once in a while.

Look at all those pants! Do they close their eyes during the commercials? What about if cheerleaders are shown? And the language!

Even if Jessa wouldn't wear jeans or slacks, I doubt she'd go MEchelle-level apeshit about what those women are wearing, or what's on TV for the Super Bowl. I wonder what she'd choose to wear if she weren't still well and truly embedded in her parents' sphere of influence. Maybe she's totally internalized all the JB/MEchelle "modesty" bullshit, or, maybe not . . .

I agree! I think I see a dress or skirt or two, but plenty of conservative evangelicals don't dress all freaky "modest" or frumpy, and I'd bet that's who most of those folks are. Nice to see Jessa among a bunch of her contemporaries age-wise, minus the younger kids and her dreary crazy parents.

I really can't get over the amount of pants, tights, knees, AND a baby without pants, all in ONE picture.   Mind blown!!  I wonder if these are friends from church, or where they know them from?  I also wondered about the halftime show....how can they be ok with watching a lady in a glittery bodysuit cavort publicly while singing secular lyrics?

I think Ben probably befriended some of them through church, perhaps the big Baptist church that I think some/all of the Duggars have attended in recent years. Kudos to him for getting Princess Prickly Pear out of the Duggar compound (physically at least) to a Super Bowl party. Without the Duggar 'rents and gaggle of siblings. Yay, Ben!!

About the clothes in the picture. Yep, it's not a Duggar/Bates/Keller/Gothard lineup. In Arkansas - and the region generally - evangelical Christians are mainstream. Even if conservative, precious few of them set themselves apart like the Duggars, and certainly they follow fashion trends, even if they don't go for the tight/short/revealing clothes. (As noted above, Jessa's super-tight tops are less modest than any other clothing in that photo.) Their neighbors in town may share many of the Duggars' religious and political views, and even choose to homeschool, without having swallowed all the Gothard koolaid and belonging to the Fundie Frumper fashion contingent.

Edited to add, which I keep forgetting: CUTE BABY!!

I'm glad Jessa's hanging out with jeans-clad friends!  But how in any way, shape or form can she claim to be more modest than any of them?  They wear normal, loser tops while she wears a skintight, navel and nipple revealing top!

But does she make that claim? My impression is that, like a lot of people, her religious views may not be completely in sync with those of her parents. Lots of people modify the beliefs they grew up with. She and Ben seem comfy around people who think and live somewhat differently.
