Hands down, one of the worst commercials running (no pun intended) right now is the Pepto Diarrhea commercial.  I don't think I have ever heard anyone say diarrhea so many times in one commercial in my entire life.

Is that the Pepto Bismol commercial that seems to imply their product is probiotic?

If I see that self-congratulatory Amazon commercial one more time, I fear for the fate of my TV.  Why don't you thank your employees by paying them a decent wage and benefits, providing proper safety equipment and training, and not imposing unattainable per-hour goals on them that degrade both their body and spirit instead?

I hate all of these commercials lately (Kroger, Walmart, etc.) where they're thanking their employees.  They may be addressing the employees but the commercials aren't for the employees' eyes; they're for the consumers'.  I'm sure it would be a hell of a lot cheaper for them to thank their employees via their typical in-company communication.

Eh, it's in the tank which gets emptied when you're done, so it doesn't bother me, but everyone has a different comfort level.

I wonder what mac & cheese sounds like getting all sucked up in there?!

It's totally self serving to make the companies look like they actually give a shit about their wage slaves.

I am so tired of that fucking "Rise Up" song being used in commercials.  I just heard it in a State Farm ad.  It's also in a lot of TV show ads, notably "All Rise."  Make it stop.

Also, car companies, please stop telling me that you care about me in these tough times.  I know you only my money.  And I won't be going to buy a car when the coronavirus crisis ends.

And now the Dominoes commercial doesn’t make sense because why do you need to put on pants if it’s just your pizza at the door?

Well I mean I guess it depends on what you are wearing underneath, but he seemed to be fine without them for the delivery, you are correct

But maybe its just so people aren't encouraged to answer the door for the delivery man without their clothes on.  You likely don't want to see the NSFW videos of such occurrences that just might pop up if you google it.

Well I don't know about the other stuff or what you mean in terms of a decent wage but Amazon did increase their minimum pay to $15 an hour a few years back.

Cannot stand the new Geico commercial with the couple in their new apartment and they have a “clogging” problem. The problem is the family of 10-12 people who are literally dancing (clogging) in the apt above. Soooooo incredibly stupid 🙄, irritating 😠, and grating on the hearing and nerves 😖.  I have to mute or change the channel.

It totally resonates with me. I've lived in apartments that had major noisy neighbors. Now I'm in a single family home with a neighbor who loves to share her outdoor radio with the whole neighborhood while 60 of her closest friends nd family come to visit and swim in her pool. Part of me wouldn't mind if the limit on gatherings lasted until September. If she violates it, I will call the police in a heartbeat.

And, in a staggering display of enlightenment given how they "valued" them as workers before the pandemic, finally do right by their employees in other basic ways now that they're under even more pressure and danger as essential workers who can't stay home.

If these companies were actually taking the tangible, behind-the-scenes steps to treat their employees properly, and thank them in particular for service above and beyond under these circumstances - actually stepping up to put people over profits during a once-in-a-lifetime crisis (and, you know, maintaining what should be a baseline standard when this is over) - I'd be all for supplementing that with a genuine public "thank you" to the workers keeping us stocked with essential goods and keeping these companies not just afloat but profitable in the midst of economic disaster for so many other industries and small businesses within their own industries.

That's not what's happening.  So these "thanks to them" commercials that are actually "rah rah us" propaganda are disingenuous, pandering, and disgusting.  During an average viewing cycle, I am more riled up than normal because of these exploitative commercials.

Ad buying is down due to covid.  I'm sure a lot of what we're seeing was bought before this all started, but some of it may be new and thus supporting the shows we're watching.   And even if the time was bought beforehand and altered to thank the employees, I don''t see anything wrong with publicly thanking employees.   Many companies also giving raises and/or bonuses as well (Lowe's for example increased employee's pay).    Sure company's are out to make a profit but that and being genuinely appreciative of employees in a time like this aren't mutually exclusive.

There is a local grocery store chain in my area that has given their hourly employees a $2/hr raise while this is going on to show their appreciation.

My daughter's a cashier and she's getting a $2 raise too.  The raises should be permanent though.  Anyone who has to deal with the public needs hazard pay, pandemic or not.

My son works at a company that makes farm equipment.  They're deemed essential.  (I'm pretty sure farmers don't buy new equipment every year.)  But if they're so essential, why can't the company score some hand sanitizer?

My biggest annoyance in the current realm of commercials is seeing Oprah's mug every 10 minutes...telling us how important it is to follow social distancing and to stay home.

Yeah Oprah, if I lived in a mansion it would be real easy for me to practice social distancing. Hell, I could live the rest of my life at home if I was a multi billionaire.

How about you stay out of my face Oprah? Thanks.

ETA: I can also do without the ads that keep showing up on this forum for plastic face masks attached to a hat. You can get a Fedora with a plastic face shield, a baseball cap with a face shield. Makes me wonder what the Kentucky Derby would look like this year IF it wasn't cancelled.

While there should clearly be, in any discussion of this pandemic, a special category for healthcare workers who are routinely dealing with those known to be infected and those suspected to be infected, given the compounded viral load of such exposure and shameful lack of proper PPE, all "essential workers" who have to keep being exposed to people (who may or may not be carriers, disturbing given what we know and don't know about asymptomatic infection) throughout the day, rather than having the option of isolating at home, deserve appreciation - again, especially since so many of them don't have access to even the lesser level of proper PPE based on the circumstances - and recognition.

These employees deserve public thanks, not just something on an interoffice message board. Of course, they also deserve hazard pay, PPE, and whatever barriers can be put into place to create the safest possible distance between themselves and customers.

Believe it or not, there are still plenty of folks who think this whole pandemic thing is overblown, that social distancing is stupid, that healthy people wearing masks is bullshit, and they themselves are somehow immune. To the extent that these ads promote awareness of the very real danger of COVID-19, I am all for them.

One of my condo board members is one of them. She keeps emailing about how overblown this all is and that she's fed up with it. AND she's an OLD woman!  I don't understand this. I'm an old woman, too, and since March 17th, I've gone "out" twice - once for a prescription and the second time to pick up some "work from home" stuff and I wore a mask both times. I'm NOT going out. I'm not ready to die, or even just get sick.

If they want to self-promote their companies, they should ask for everyone to help keep their employees safe or tell us what they're doing to keep their employees safe.  Not just a schmaltzy feel-good thank you.

MMV, but I'd rather my company thank me (more or less) to my face than pay to air a commercial thanking me.  Especially when they could be putting that same money into increasing my pay and/or benefits.

They pay a decent wage, but screw employees by not paying them while they wait in line to go through security to get into/out of their buildings.  And they don't offer benefits to part-timers, and they hire a lot of part-timers.  (At least they used to, this might've changed.)

Mine, no masks.  The cashiers do have gloves, and I have seen some of them wipe down their credit card machines between transactions, but still Walmart isn't going out of its way to offer them much protection.  Except in the pharmacy, where they have plexiglass around all the counters.  Which they should've done anyway, since lots of people who go to the pharmacy are ill to begin with.

The ones which are not made by the stores, but others (I saw one featuring ABC News people, for example), thanking grocery store employees, delivery drivers, gas station employees and other workers who have no choice but to work with the public are actually the ones I like.  Because those people are on the front lines in a public health emergency, and they're not really trained for emergencies the way medical personnel, cops and firefighters are.

Hell, it'd be nice to be thanked for dragging my ass out of bed and coming to the courthouse every day, but since my job is telling people when to show up for court, I'm used to not being appreciated by defendants.  And to be fair, the court administrator did acknowledge how hard my office's job is right now (we're resetting every case in the docket for half of March and the entire month of April) in a court-wide email, which was nice.

I know people have commented on this before, but I am going to chime in with my white-hot hatred of the "House in a Hurry" ad on HGTV.

The woman sitting on the end of her bed with her mouth hanging open as if she's about to vomit/have a mental breakdown and then her demented Chatty-Cathy-doll "callhercallhercallhercallher" response to her husband.  I CAN'T EVEN.  That mini scene is one of the most rage-inducing things I've seen on tv in a long time.  I'm not sure why I hate it so much, but hate it beyond words I do.

I don't even know if this is a trailer for a new show, or an ad for a house-hunting service - and I couldn't care less.  Whatever they're selling, they can stuff it up their butts - I ain't buying.  Just because of that scene.

I hate that commercial.  And then that show came on after something I was watching because I felt compelled to see that scene.  I was surprised to discover that I didn't find the lady to be annoying.  I ended up doing something in the other room and missed that part.  But I guess the commercial worked because it got me to watch.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand the St. Jude commercial where the lady has two toddlers on her lap and she's telling them not to kiss each other.  Baby talk normally doesn't bother me, but it does here, and I hate when the lady makes a smooching sound.

There's also a Ziploc (I think) commercial that shows a dad and two kids rolling goo around in glitter.  For some reason, they have sound effects that sound like a bunch of noisy kids on a playground, rather than two kids who don't even appear to be screaming.  It annoys me every time.

Commercials that drive me nuts.

I cannot stand Leslie Mann I have always found her voice and her in your face kinda personality incredibly annoying so anytime a Jergens commercial comes on I immediately feel nothing but sympathy and sadness for her children.

Those depressing weepy commercials from the ASPCA actually piss me off because I have researched the ASPCA and a few other organizations like them and have found out that they are nothing but profit mining bastards. Most of that donation money gets spent on salaries and marketing and a fraction of it actually goes towards helping animals. The ASPCA does not necessarily support your local shelters or anything! They do with it what they please! And you know just like in politics the fat bastards gotta get paid!!

I was watching a sitcom marathon on MTV2 this afternoon, and I got very sick of the H&R Block ad that starts with a woman saying, "Hoo!  There's a lot going on" before talking about their service.  This ad aired in every commercial break, so I must have seen it 20-30 times.  The little "hoo!" noise she does at the beginning is what really bugged me, but it happens so quickly in the ad that I could never mute it in time.  Now that I think about it, I should have just muted all the commercials so that I wouldn't have to hear this ad after the 15th time or so.

There was also a commercial for Burger King with people "doing their civic duty" by staying on the couch that was pretty stupid in its execution, but it wasn't on enough times to really bother me.  I do wonder though if the nurses who received the company's big donation of Whoppers really wanted them.  Burger King may have also donated money, but it wasn't clear and I couldn't read the disclaimer quickly enough.

Woman in shower shampooing and making sounds like she’s having an orgasm 🤮 To this day I can’t buy any of their products. Example - Devour frozen meals. I guess the guy thinks he having sex with his lunch by the sounds they’re making and he’s spanking his food with his fork 🤮🤮 I will NEVER buy a Devour product!

I had a moral dilemma when I was doing my parents' grocery shopping last weekend, and they had toilet paper on the list.  I'd sworn never to buy Charmin because of their commercials.  I went down the toilet paper aisle and saw only Charmin.  I knew they had several rolls of toilet paper left, so my parents didn't need it right then.  So do I get the Charmin or no?  And then I saw they also had store brand, so problem solved! 😄

To me, not buying a product because you don't like a commercial is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I don't go to certain stores on ethical or moral principles (Chic-fil-a or Hobby Lobby) and would never buy any product that has Joanna Gaines name on it. Not buying a product because you don't like a commercial makes no sense to me.
