I loved, loved, loved this season finale. The convergence of the various subplots of the last episode (Holt with Bob, Jake and his team, Terry and Rosa, Amy and Charles) kept getting better, more suspenseful, and funnier. How do they fit everything into the 20+ minutes of a half-hour show??

Oh dang! I'm going to have to watch this again because I was laughing too hard, and probably missed a lot. Amy's rage at the "boiled rags" got the biggest literal LOL because I love angry Amy. Great last three episodes, and I'm going to miss this show until fall.

Wait--Holt misused the word "decimated?" Holt? I know most people don't know what "decimated" literally means, but Holt is the sort of person who would correct people at length if they did that: "I assume you mean that exactly ten percent of Figgis' operation was destroyed. That is what you meant, isn't it, Diaz?"

My faith in the writing staff has been literally decimated.

So much to love in this episode.

The expression on Rosa's face while Jake imitated Holt and Bob was hilarious - just amused and indulgent. Even her "Jake" when he started in about the road trip was patient. So great. Plus all the stuff about her alter-ego (one of her alter-egos?!) was awesome.

The whole team tracking Holt was wonderful. Scully (right?): That's not chocolate. Jake: Don't taste it again!

And can I just say that I love how much Melissa Fumero looks like a regular pregnant woman. I mean, I know she is, obviously, but it's really cool, to me, to see a pregnant woman walk around actually looking like she's pregnant - as opposed to how pregnant woman are usually played - by a rail-thin actress with what looks like a basket ball attached to her belly. Even if she's pretending to be not pregnant pretending like she is.

That was awesomesauce. Great moments for all the characters.

I loved all of Bob and Holt's exchanges.

When I die, piease give my regards to Kevin.

What should I tell him?

Greg and Larry in Florida. Oh boy. I loved the camera panning from "Larry's" dead lawn to "Greg's" bright green lawn.

Ha! I had the same thought when that happened.

I loved everything about this episode. Rosa's apartment. Terry freaking out about Rosa's apartment. "It needed a pop of color" and "My coworkers think my name is Rosa Diaz." Amy yelling about the hot towels and Charles demanding sundaes. Gina pretending to be crazy to get Bob out of the hospital. All of it.

What I loved the most about Rosa's alternate persona "Emily Goldfinch" is that she is ALWAYS smiling and TOO chatty for her landlord's tastes.

Awesome that Rosa would change her entire personality in pursuit of privacy. Either that or Rosa is the alternate persona.

This episode got off to a very slow start for me - it wasn't until Santiago started listing all the possible professions for the female lead in a romantic comedy that I actually laughed. Fortunately, things really clicked into place after that, it the episode finished (and season) finished strong.

It's hard to pick a favorite line, but Charles "I don't want to hang out with a stupid baby that doesn't know Jake," was definitely up there. It's funny on its own, and it was a good reminder about a side-plot that had no real place in this episode but is still moving forward.

I can't decide whether it was Gina or Holt's idea to have her & Bob straight-jacketed to get them out of the hospital, but whoever it was: kudos. That was a great plan.

I also really enjoyed Jake's "No take backs!" after Holt called him "son." It reminded me very much of Rogelio after Jane calls him "Dad" for the first time on Jane the Virgin, and I love Rogelio SO MUCH.

And, while I liked the reveal of Jake & Holt in Florida in witness protection at the end, I'm a little wary of where this leaves us for next season. The weakest part of this season - and the whole series - was the beginning when Holt and Gina were away from the squad in the marketing department. Holt and Jake are a great team, but we've seen over and over again that the '99 works best - both as a precinct and a show - when everyone is working together. Greg and Larry better get back to Brooklyn soon.

Thank you; I didn't notice these details.

I did love that song at the end.  "Blue Skies" sung by Ella Fitzgerald.

Loved

Jake's imitating Holt and Bob.

Hitchcock's driving.

Charles and Amy bonding in first class.

Gina pretending to be an insane patient who thinks she's Serena Williams!

Rosa's surprisingly nice apartment.

Terry's interrogation of Bob which involved his hypothetical kids.

The finale more than enforced how much I love all the characters and each of their personalities and quirks.

J: wow sarge you are just stuffed into those scrubs, how do you do it?

T: Exercise and diet, it's not that hard

J: It seems pretty hard to me, I don't think I'm going to do that.

Holt was right: it should have been suspicious to anyone that Holt and Jake have been around each other for this long, without Holt discovering the awesomeness that is "Funky Cold Medina."  I'm sure Holt knows every lyric now to all of Jake's favorites!

I enjoyed the hospital escape and how everyone played a part in it.  Even Hitchcock and Scully had their uses!  And it all ending with Holt just walking out both Bob and Gina, and pretending he was escorting them to a psych ward, was perfect.

Loved Rosa's apartment being normal and how she goes by the name "Emily Goldfinch" over there and is always smiling!  She also hinted that her name might not even be Rosa Diaz, although I wonder if that is true or she was just messing with Jake.  Either way, I'm with Amy on this: I want to know more!

Even though they were regulated to the B-story, I liked seeing a whole lot of Boyle/Amy interactions.  I hope we get more of them in future episodes.  Loved how Amy kept using her "pregnancy" to not only get on the airplane, but get upgraded to first class.

Figured there would be a twist at the end, but I didn't see Holt and Jake having to be put in Witness Protection at the end.  Not sure if it would be realistic to have both of them be neighbors, but I can already see the comedic potential between those two, if they have this play out for an episode or two next season.  But I'm guessing they won't stretch it too long, because they know the show works best when the entire cast is interacting with each other.  I'm just glad we're getting another season of it!

So many great one-liners pouring out of this episode

Terry: "WHO ARE YOU????"

Boyle: "Y'all make a lid!"

Holt: "Even with context clues, I fail to understand."

Scully: "This is why I became a police officer!"

Amy trying to guess at Katherine Heigl's profession from 27 dresses.

What a perfect ep. At first I didn't like that Amy and Charles's story was separate from the rest, but not only were there plenty of laughs there, Amy & Charles were key to getting Bob to confess.

So so good from start to finish. Jake correctly guessing that Holt and Bob were talking about rice was a wonderful start. But, man, everything with Bob and Holt was golden.

Bob: Chocolate is the devil's carob.
Holt: And carob is satan's raisin.

Bob: Yum.

Holt: Bob, you've killed him.

Bob: Actually, I was going to throw Raymond over the side and make it look like a bird watching accident.
Jake: Oh please. Do you think anyone's going to actually—
Holt: It's genius. There's a red-tailed hawk roost a block away and I've got a pair of micro-binoculars in my pocket. Like a fool.

Bob: Out numbered, my bottom.

Bob: Figgis has people in the NYPD and the FBI. So good luck with that.

Holt: Wow. Betraying the FBI is one thing, but SARCASM, Bob? Wow.

Bob: I don't just LIKE jazz. I'm FOND of it.

Holt: In all fairness, Bob, who spells 'Andersonn' with three N's?

(I think he should have said 4 N's to make it stranger. Or 3 consecutive N's.)

Andre B needs -- NEEDS -- to get an Emmy nom. It is a requirement.

Loved Hitchcock saying he's a fast driver, then we cut to him with everyone in the car screaming, except Hitchcock, of course. This ep made excellent use of Scully & Hitchcock.

Scully: He's been gagged!

Jake: How would that come thru in a text?

Loved putting Bob and Gina in straightjackets to get them out of the hospital. Perfect solution.

Loved Jake getting into Bob's and Holt's minds in order to track them. Actually, the voice he used reminded me of Keanu Reeves.

Jake: I'll find another way out.
Holt: I'm sure you will, son.
Jake: You called me son! No take-backs.
(Holt's face after this was priceless. GIF needed.)

Of course Terry was great, too, esp when he was pretending to be a doctor --

Terry: The cerebral blood circulation is infarcted! Give me an ICB catheter! Stat!

Loved Amy and Charles together too. At the airport --

Amy: Were you stern?

Charles: Amy, you know I wasn't.

Just fantastic all the way around.

I loved this episode so much. I love this show so much. I *also* would like Rosa's apartment for myself (pre-destruction).

The weakest part of this season - and the whole series - was the beginning when Holt and Gina were away from the squad in the marketing department.

An interesting note I saw from TV critic Alan Sepinwall: all three season finales have now ended with one or more of the squad leaving the 99. Will be interesting to see if season four brings them back quickly, a-la Jake at the start of season two, or if they take the amount of time they did this past year.

The thing about this show is that every single line is a quotable. That's how good the writing is. It's hard to single out one favorite line from an episode, they're all written so well.

I'm assuming Melissa Fumero isn't as pregnant as Amy-in-prison and she wore some sort of padding, because when she said she was anxious to take off the pregnancy padding she grabbed it and lifted it up in a way a real pregnant belly wouldn't have moved. Also the way Jake manipulated it and moved it around in the last episode.

I can see them doing maybe one episode next season with Jake and Holt in witness protection leading their fake lives but that will get old if they drag it out more than that.

As noted the episode was filled with fantastic lines.

My favorite was Charles'

"I don't want to hang out with some stupid baby who's never met Jake!"

Also loved that Jake thinks being a grownup means you have a lakehouse!

That line from Charles was THE BEST.  Along with "boiled rags" it was my favorite in a long line of awesome lines....

This was so good! I miss this show already. What will I do without my B99 fix? WHAT WILL I DO?!?!

Anyway, I love that everyone got a chance to shine, I love that Holt called Jake son, and Jake's reaction, I love how much Amy and Jake love each other, I love Amy and Charles watching 27 Dresses, I just loved it all, and I want more.

I hope we get a few episodes of Holt and Jake in Witness Protection, but get back to the crew soon. Maybe Amy and Kevin can hang out while they're gone (and Kevin gets back from France, of course).

One thing I always enjoy is when Hitchcock and Scully get to be useful simply by being their own terrible selves. Hitchcock getting them to the hospital in what I can only assume was record time because he has nothing to live for and drives like it? Brilliant.

Also loved Terry trying to break Bob by talking about Bob's hypothetical daughter looking at him with hypothetical tears in her hypothetical eyes, heh.

Man, I'm really going to miss this show until next season.

I am assuming that we will finally see the so far unseen bad guy Figgis next season when they eventually take him down. What are the chances that it will be former SNL and Lazy Sunday partner Chris Parnell considering that Figgis is his character's name on Archer?

Probably zero since Chris was already on the show twice as Jeffery Hoitzman (sp?) Unless that the as his cover alias but he seemed too pathetic to be a mob king.

Which makes it even more Brooklyn Nine Nine type of thing to do...I wouldn't be surprised that its the way they are going to go with this.

My money is on Pimento being Figgis.  I can't see Jason Mantzoukas sticking around for the long term. He's much too "over the top".

How would that make sense?

Why would Figgis/Pimento take a hit out on himself? Why would Figgis/Pimento out his own operatives in the FBI? Why would Figgis/Pimento agree with the Nine-Nine taking down his own operation? Why would a crime boss personally introduce himself into the NYPD only to extract himself a few weeks later?

Also, Pimento was inserted into Figgis' operation as a UC operative, that means that Figgis was already an established crime boss at time Pimento went undercover in his operation. how could Pimento both be Figgis and then also be the UC cop assigned to go underground in his already running operation?

I agree that Mantzoukas probably won't be around for good, but I don't think it makes sense for him to be Figgis.

I think Figgis is probably somebody we know and that is why his voice was modulated to disguise it.

Bob did tell us that Figgis had operatives in the NYPD, so that might be a clue.

I love that Jake's attempt to break Bob was bad scatting.

"Dread Pirate Roberts" situation? Figgis *was* really Figgis but Pimento took over (snapped, got corrupted, etc)  I don't know if they would do that, but so far almost all "coming back to the fold"/ex friend characters have been dirty/antagonists and it would finish the Pimento arc in a final way for "Rosa" since I doubt JM is sticking around. I kind of figure it has to be someone we know but maybe not. I correctly predicted The Vulture as Captain but not Bill Hader. There's going to be a twist.

I prefer the whole squad together so I hope "Greg and Larry" are only the first episode or so, but OTOH I thought Jake's mafia stint ended too cleanly for an organisation who would certainly have noticed that Jake Peralta went back to being a cop with no consequences like a week after 15 senior mafiosos were arrested.

I feel like Amy should be in protection since it wouldn't be hard for a guy who has moles in the FBI to figure out that "Isabel Cortez" looks remarkably like the cop girlfriend of the detective he's just sworn a vendetta against. But I guess it only being Holt and Jake gives them their Father/Son storyline and leaves a cliffhanger of sorts for "will Jake and Amy move in together or not?".

I have grown to love those two surprisingly a lot over the season and I love their mostly mature, low key storylines so I hope they continue that next season. Loved that Jake didn't do any sitcommy panicking when Amy said she wanted to move in together. He's really grown  huge amount since Holt became his father (and wasn't that a great pay off!).

Loved Hitchcock's driving and Charles's 1st class snobbery. The whole arc where they let Melissa Fumero not hide her pregnancy was great, although she certainly showed more "Amy" than believable "Isabel" in the final speech.

Seconded -- I loved that exchange (especially all parts including and referencing Boyle)!  We haven't seen Jake's living situation this season (have we?) so I can only hope that Amy has been upgrading him for the past year because otherwise them moving in together would be a bit of a disaster.

I'm in!  They put S3 up on Canadian Netflix the day after this episode aired, which is shockingly quick.  Because Netflix's algorithms know me so well, they emailed to let me know -- I nearly squealed with delight.

It's Wunch...

Can't be Wunch.

His sister specifically calls him 'my brother' she tells Amy that she dates "all her brother's friends from the mob"

Doubt she would be smart enough to hide the fact that her brother is female and dumb enough to spill the beans about his FBI contacts.

We can probably safely conclude that Figgis is male.

I think Figgis' voice is modulated because they haven't cast the character yet.

I agree, I don't think Figgis is someone we know, they're just keeping their casting options open.
