  1. So since I feel that I have reached close to the end of television, a few months ago I decided to rewatch Lost on Netflix as I haven't seen it since it last aired. Going in, I had figured that I may get bored since I had already seen it but it would be a good diversion in case my new DVR recordings were bare. I braced myself knowing that season 3 meandered but the season ender was a wallop and off I went figuring it was going to take me a good six months since I am not a binge watcher. At first I was watching an episode every few days (sometimes even a week in between) and it struck me just how much I had forgotten so while I knew overall where the show was going, I still almost had a 'new' feeling to it as the details were forgotten by me. I then found myself watching an episode a day as I would always look forward to see what was going to happen next...then by season 4, I was powering through three or four episodes per day and this was becoming my main television watching. I just finished it last night and I feel I have a whole new appreciation and understanding of the show and wondering why I had thought originally that there were so many questions left unanswered. Sure there are a few and quite frankly, not really important to the story. If anyone reading this hasn't watched the show since it first aired, I would recommend highly in doing so again...
  2. I was so excited when I realized that they were about to do a riff on my favorite movie scene ever, the Boogie Nights drug deal and while I loved Cleveland Jr as the bouncer, the random appearance of Todd (I was hoping that they would get Thomas Jane to reprise his role), Cosmo throwing the firecrackers, etc...it wasn't that funny. It was more just a recreation of that scene using the Family Guy characters....sigh
  3. The first segment of the episode was absolutely brilliant however the rest for me went downhill quickly. That said, the Top Gun bit using public domain music was one of the funniest thing they've done in a while and a fantastic call back to it a few minutes later. Also, the Amber alert bit with Stewie abducted by a goat and then showing the couple discounting it because the model year of the car was off was amazing.
  4. I'll join you in that assessment....very slow and downright boring. I do have to commend the makers of the series that they really got early 70's NY right....really looked authentic and much more so than other recent period pieces. The cast is also top notch HOWEVER, it seems that all of these new shows that need to take place in the 70's come up with the look, the basic premise, the characters and then have NOTHING to say about them or makes the audience care one way or another about them. HBO should have learned a lesson from last year's 70's misstep Vinyl and in The Deuce's defense, it's a little better than that so far....
  5. OK so I am glad that I am not alone that this was a waste of a great cast of some of the most unlikable characters on television. I don't see how any of them are friends, they don't even look to be within a three/four year age range of each other for them to have all gone to college at the same time. And the LEAST interesting thing about these characters (the affair between Ethan and whatever her name is), is the major plot point that the entire series revolves around. I stuck through this because a close friend recommend it as being laugh out loud funny....I got through the whole thing but I'm done....no season two for me.
  6. There were certainly some odd timeline situations before and after the sex scene. They pull into the motel in a mid 60's Ford parked in front of their room in a one story motel. Yet when he leaves, it is in a late model Lincoln Town Car, parked across the parking lot of a now two story hotel
  7. When the original series first aired, I was incredibly frustrated by the then series cliffhanger. Over time I grew to appreciate and even come to the conclusion that it wasn't really a cliffhanger but rather, an ending in that moment of time where doppelgänger Cooper won. So for this iteration of the show would I wanted to have a more definitive answer? Sure but those last few seconds were as awesomely creepy as evil Cooper's head smashing into the mirror. Plus an open ending may mean that they will want to do more in the future.
  8. As this is now sadly ending, I am truly amazed at the journey we have been on this season. From the anticipation and initial disappointment that this was not going to be the same Twin Peaks from 25 years ago but then the building bits of intrigue that has made this iteration just as compelling as the original series. While I initially did not like the whole Dougie Jones arc and portrayal, it grew on me...and I became concerned what would happen to Janey E and Sonny Jim once Dale inevitably woke up. And then when he did...man, it was worth it...so much more compelling even though he essentially will be in only two episodes. I know that there is supposedly no plans for season 4, but my god, I am not ready to let go of this world yet. 18 hours should have been more than enough to tell this story but I know there is so much more to tell and I can only hope and pray that we will NOT get everything wrapped up in a nice tidy little bow. While I had originally hated that the originally series ended on so many cliffhangers, over the years I appreciated it more and thought it was one of the best series finales ever, it also gave the impetus to eventually have a season three....and 25 years later to boot. An open end may spur on Showtime and David Lynch make a season four....at least I am hoping that it will....but let's make this happen a little sooner than 25 years
  9. I cannot say that the passing of Chantal and Hutch affect me as much as it did you Pete, but I would agree that the van rolling down the road silently was extremely creepy and disturbing for some reason
  10. Wow....so that's really James Marshall singing that...and I guess 25 years ago as well? The backwards talking in the Black Lodge seemed more 'natural' than his almost falsetto singing voice. Well, all the good music had to end sometime and thanks to Mr. Hurley/Marshall. I even really dug the quirky music during the conga line....plus more Candie!
  11. OK....after the last few episodes, I am now officially 'all in' in really loving season 3. Yes, it isn't 'classic' Twin Peaks but more like a David Lynch movie with some Twin Peaks characters in it...and it sure helped to rewatch Fire Walk With Me a few weeks ago (which I HATED when I originally saw it in 93, but kinda liked it this time around). Heck, I am actually starting to like Dougie a little. I loved Diane saying 'Backup wont help that' after viewing the imploded Hastings...especially how it was shot from inside the car with Diane's voice muffled At the end credits I was like 'Alicia Witt?....Gersten Heyward?....where? Did I nod off?' and then scoured online to find out where she was in the episode and watch the scene again More Candie.....yes!!!!!
  12. While this show feels like it's on cruise control with the same stories week after week...and me wondering how these morons don't put in the five minutes of research that they by now have ALREADY SEEN Max and Nev do on previous episodes, I have to give them credit for surprising me by completely changing my opinion from the first five minutes of the show about both Robert and Ashleigh. You could sense the douchiness creep in when the fake pics were a deal breaker BUT he never bothered to ask for real ones...and then stating to Max that an accused murderer might be ok but apparently not someone with a double digit dress size. And speaking of said accused murderer....that pic will haunt my dreams...that was one scary looking person.
  13. Could Candie please get a spin-off show? One of the most intriguing characters to come out of this season...I think I may be in love with her
  14. Because of course Nine Inch Nails would appear in a dive bar in a little town in the middle of nowhere for an impromptu concert. I also loved the nattily dressed gentleman on stage who introduced them as "THE Nine Inch Nails". And in the credits, they were listed as 'The' Nine Inch Nails
  15. Essentially they can enter a contract where for rescuing the group, Danny is paying the Barracuda $10m.
