Nothing about songs though. It seems the product placement is relegated to...actual hard products people buy, like consumables and whatnot. Not exactly a smoking gun.

I read an article up on a website. This is something they are doing 6 times a year with the BIG companies i.e. Coca Cola. They want to tie their product into a sketch that could possibly go viral or trend the next day - giving them a different type of advertising via Social Media - Twitter/Snapchat/Youtube. So in the SNL Erika Jayne sketch - if they had held up soda cans with the logo on display or were on the table with the camera picking up the logo, Coca Cola is paying big bucks to advertise in the skit.

Wow, this SNL thing is a huge fucking deal, especially right now considering that their ratings are through the roof this season. Good for her.

Free advertising and gets paid for the song play. Doesn't get better than that.

Actually it does...repeats receive royalty checks.

It was Ritz peanut butter cracker sandwiches. Kenan was eating them.

SNL pays the songwiter.  It is actually collected by the performing rights organization who passes the royalties on to the songwriter.

It is possible to waive your royalties. People most often do it for charity purposes, but Erika could have done it for SNL if she wanted to. Erika isn't the songwiter. I don't think she's written any of her songs. Lots of singers don't write their own songs.

The music publisher and songwriter receive royalties from SNL

Did Mikey write that? I don't think so but who knows, he could have written it about himself, I have no doubts that Tom Erika pays him some big money! LOL

Nope. As per the article:

Quote

in a breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation and fraud suit against Ja Rule, Billy McFarland and Fyre Media.

Unless she is a part owner of Fyre Media, which I don't think she is, she wouldn't be sued.

Erika and the rest waive royalties when their songs are featured on the show/WWHL.  In some cases some singers and song writers pay Bravo a percentage of what the songs yield.

I think Bella and other social media celebs were paid to promote the locale via Twitter/Instagram. Ja Rule - now that's a name I haven't heard for a long time

So does Ritz pay, even though Kenan was kind of critical of the crackers?  He seemed to be complaining that they were only dime-sized.

Subway on Community is probably the best example of a slightly negative depiction of product placement. Subway had a multiple episode story arc where Subway is the antagonist pitted against the main cast. I think the brand needs to let writers have a decent amount of latitude because otherwise you'll end up with the stilted Subway mess on Hawaii 5-0. Kenan complained that he wanted the crackers in a larger size, not that there was something fundamentally wrong with them. And Mad Men taught me that when you can't get clearances, they try to substitute with an alternative brand or make up their own. If Nabisco Ritz had big problems with the joke they wouldn't have let SNL say or show the name or brand.

It's funny that we're talking about product placement because we've speculated for at least the last 2 or so years that Bravo has a deal with Tito's vodka. Except for events thrown by LVP and Bethenny, there is usually Tito's is featured prominently at the bar. And it's across the network. You'll see it on housewives shows, Shahs, Southern Charm, and I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting.

So tonight was the finale of DWTS.  Erika Jane was barely noticeable.  Not even an individual dance on a two and half hour show.  She and Chris Kattan got nothing.  Even Charo and Mr. T got something.  Add to that Chris Kattan was very critical of the show after his boot.

Kinda strange she hasn't disclosed the nature of the injury...Wonder if she popped a boob??!

And why wait a month to have whatever it is repaired? Hope she recovers soon.

The article says "upper body tear" but I don't know what that means...

The DWTS finale was on Tuesday 5/23/17 and she appeared on WWHL on the 24th. She moved a bit stiffly - but she always does

That was my first thought and it would also be the reason that they aren't disclosing the nature of the tear (if it was a rotator cuff injury they'd have just said so).

The month delay could be explained by a slow leak that took some time to diagnose.

For all the criticism Erika gets about being fake, she's the only one of the 3 who looks remotely chill. Beth and Kyle both look posed and trying hard to strike a sultry image whereas Erika looks relaxed and beautiful.

She's still smart enough to have her photo taken while standing next to plain people.

Well, it isn't like we've never seen HWs make up after initially being at odds, or HWs ending a friendship or becoming enemies later on. It happens.

Kyle's hair is greasy - too much product

Bethenny stole Dorit Jiffy Pop bags to make leggings that are hideous

Erica wore the same top in an interview - I think it was on Kelly Rippa's morning show

Erika's top is what I would frame and hang on my wall. :)

Kyle must be using Tru Renewal hair products

Bethenny's pants looked much better on the show than in this pic.

I would not be surprised to learn it had something to do with her implants.  Otherwise why not mention the "tear?"  Being injured while doing an athletic venture is nothing to be ashamed of, quiet the opposite.  Athletes tear muscles frequently.

Is that what they're calling octogenarian peen these days?

Excuse me? I think you mean rich octogenarian peen that doesn't need Viagra to get it up (as Erika alleged last season).

The crowd went wild for her when she came onstage! She seemed happily surprised by that.

I hope so because the pants look almost as bad as she does.

Isn't Tru Renewal a Ramona Singer (RHONY) company/product?

I thought her boobs looked bigger. She's happily hanging with the HW A team too so she probably found it easy to forgive and befriend both Kyle and the B.

Oooooh gawd! There was a joke about Erika and Tom in season 3 episode 10 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. There was a meeting of the NFL owners and one of the owners was playing his mistress' terrible music video about how much money it costs to keep her.

Actually there was another Erika joke where Jane Krakowski's character is making an audition music video for Real Housewives of New York, which consisted of her dressed like Erika Jane writhing around on the floor saying "this is where the music would be playing."

I went over to read the (mostly) glowing (*eye roll*) reviews for ol' Yolanda's book and discovered that Erika -- wait for it --  has a book coming out in early 2018. Most of these HWs spanning the Bravo globe favor the I-am-vacuous-hear-me-roar-don't-you-wish-you-were-me? approach to authoring a book; Erika may be the exception who provides something a bit more revealing and genuine:

Nahhh, same garbage. I'm flawed but I know you want to be me approach that others, like Bethenny/Teresa G/and other HWs have written in the past. I really doubt she will be completely honest and open but YMMV.

Yes, she just about sums it up with this:

"Without her alter-ego Erika Jayne, Erika Girardi says she’d just be “another rich bitch with a plane”.

Know this, I am so rich that I have my own plane.

Oh, did I mention that I have a plane? Believe me, I do.

Yolanda has her Lyme, but hey, I have a plane.....and an alter ego.

I may be a mess, but I'm pretty.

I think she should have gone with "You don't know what I go through at night....until you read my book".

True but Erika still loves to say that they, there are 2 planes I believe, are her husbands/hers leaving out that they are actually owned by the law practice that TG is a senior "partner" in. LOL
