KaveDweller February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Didn't they start later? I always thought it started at 8:00, but this year it wasn't until 8:30. It has started at 8:30 for the last few years, and ABC airs exclusive red carpet coverage from 8 to 8:30. This year they started that at 7:30. But it is supposed to end by 11:30 and that's clearly not going to happen. I really like the Sound of Music by why are they doing a tribute? Just because it's the 50th anniversary? Link to comment
Rick Kitchen February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 ...huh? I...am so confused... what about her says Alps nunnery, Nazi Germany, children, or singing talent? She just won a Tony Award with Tony Bennett for their album of standards. 1 Link to comment
CraftyHazel February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Why does Lady Gaga actually sound decent? Are the songs from "TSoM" that good?? Link to comment
truthaboutluv February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (edited) Go Gaga - remind people that under all the crazy costumes, you can sing your ass off. She's also fierce on the piano. Edited February 23, 2015 by truthaboutluv 24 Link to comment
mtlchick February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Damn Gaga. 1) she looks beautiful 2) no one can be Julie Andrews, but she's doing a great job with it. Her monsters will be proud. 8 Link to comment
catrox14 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 When she's not trying to shock, Lady Gaga is actually a great singer and performer. I just don't understand why they're doing a SOM tribute ... ? 50th anniversary I think. Link to comment
SmithW6079 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Lady Gaga doesn't really know what to do with her dress, does she? 1 Link to comment
bunnywithanaxe February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (wipes eyes)Well, Lady Gaga has oficially knocked the smartass out of me. What a voice! 19 Link to comment

cooksdelight February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Never thought I'd type this, but Lady Gaga is giving me goose bumps... her vocal range is something. And she's not doing anything absurd. I halfway expected little kids in lederhosen to run out from under her big flouncy dress. It's the 50th anniversary of the movie, I guess that's why they picked this segment. 5 Link to comment
Moose135 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 .......Is that what Lady Gaga looks like without all the over-the-top makeup and clothing? She's actually really nice looking. Also, she has a nice voice. Yes, she does. I was just thinking "so that's what she really looks like..." 2 Link to comment
jjj February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Oh, I was about to mute, and then I heard her start the song. I am delighted. 2 Link to comment

Umbelina February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Blew the last note. That song was so much better when the nun did it. Oh, and no one can sing like Julie Andrews could. 3 Link to comment

CPP83 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I guess it was better than the gal who did the Live version on NBC...could have been worse I suppose. Now here's the lady of the night, Julie! 1 Link to comment
Dancingjaneway February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Aaand the show just got 100% better! 5 Link to comment
merylinkid February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I really wish Gaga would stop with all the weird stuff, go back to her real name and just SING. She has the pipes for it. She doesn't need the weirdness to get attention. Oh house got dusty again with that hug between Julie and Gaga. 8 Link to comment
irisheyes February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Julie Andrews!! Now, there's class. And I really need to go to bed. 2 Link to comment
dubbel zout February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (edited) You see a class act like Julie Andrews and then they show J.Lo's sideboob, and you have to laugh. ETA: Damn autocorrect again! Edited February 23, 2015 by dubbel zout 6 Link to comment
Maysie February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Awwwww Julie Andrews. Okay, I'll accept the Sound of Music tribute now. 3 Link to comment
mtlchick February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I may have teared up that Julie Andrews gave Gaga the biggest smile and hug. No wait, I did. 7 Link to comment
charlieboo February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Good Lord...when Gaga grabbed her dress I thought she was going to tear off the skirt to reveal a skimpy outfit. Overall, not bad, but the trombone tattoo sort of ruined the moment. Julie...YAY!! 4 Link to comment
McManda February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 50th anniversary I think. Oh. Duh. But still. Is this needed? There are videos of Lady Gaga on Youtube (before she was known as Lady Gaga), and she's actually really talented. It's a shame she wears meat dresses and uses bubbles to get around, because otherwise she'd be much more universally liked and respected. Also, Julie Andrews. Show over. Link to comment
SmithW6079 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Oh, that was just great, with Julie Andrews coming out to hug her. 1 Link to comment
aradia22 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Gaga did a nice job of balancing her legit voice and her belt for that but I'm not going to lie, Julie Andrews walking out at the end was the best part. 3 Link to comment
Vermicious Knid February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 It's a completely misleading statistic. Population of the US from the 1860 census: 31,443,321 plus 3,953,761 slaves, Current US population: 320 million. So yeah, there will be more people of any race in prison now. Link to comment
Arynm February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Julie Andrews got the tears flowing. I just love her, she is so classy. Gaga sounded great, I have no shade to throw 9 Link to comment

GreatKazu February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Huge Lady Gaga fan here. I went to two of her concerts. Hey Jennifer Lopez, as you sit there in the front row, you only wish you could actually sing! Eat your heart out Jennifer. 4 Link to comment

thuganomics85 February 23, 2015 Author Share February 23, 2015 Grand Budapest Hotel taks Score. Not bad; I heard The Theory of Everything was the frontrunner. Actually, all the scores sounded pretty good in those clips. Even as someone that hated Interstellar, Zimmer's music was great. Link to comment

cmahorror February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (edited) Still missing Robin Williams as well. Like Phil Hartman and John Ritter, I will always feel a little sad when I see him. I met Robin Williams after one of his concerts a few years back and I proudly have the picture of us on my wall at work. He was so happy to see his fans and seemed amazed that we wanted to meet him. ProudMary February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I'm astonished that this is Desplat's first Oscar. I thought sure he had won in the past. Link to comment
Sugar February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Why is no one talking about how orange Jeff Goldblum is? Every time they cut to him, it looks like he just came back from applying self tanner. His freaking hands look like they're covered in Cheetos crumbs. WTF, Goldblum?! First time I've ever not wanted to jump his bones. I too cried when Ms. Andrews stepped out. What a lovely, lovely human being (I don't know her in real life, but I just figure she's gotta be a saint). 1 Link to comment

mtlchick February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Overall, not bad, but the trombone tattoo sort of ruined the moment. Tony Bennett drew her the sketch of the trombone while recording their album. She loved it so much that she got it tattooed. Admittedly it's big but I do think it's sweet on how much he means to her. 2 Link to comment
aradia22 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Inside Out commercial. That technically makes the second Mindy Kaling commercial of the night. :D 1 Link to comment
Fabricationary February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 As much as I don't care for the Gaga, at least it was better than Carrie Underwood and company reprising their role in SOTM live. Although if NBC was running the Oscars, you know that would totally be the case. 2 Link to comment
jjj February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 HOW many more awards are to come? Have they done best actor/actress yet? Just got home on West Coast. This has another half-hour, I'll bet. Link to comment
Shannon L. February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I've finally caught up with you all. I just realized that there haven't been any movie montages since the opening number. There are always montages... I agree with the poster who said that NPH doesn't know how to improve which is what's needed to save the show when the jokes are failing. 1 Link to comment
