Josie Bates had her baby. The baby Hazel, looks like a carbon copy of her soon to be 2 sister, Willow.

In other Bates news, Alyssa bates is in town. A few of the sisters were shopping with Kelly - Alyssa had on ripped skinny jeans. In the past it seemed she saved her pants, tight shirts and short dresses for when she wasn't around her parents. Times are a changing for the Bates. Superficially, anyways.

Kaylee and Renee are of marriageable age in Rod World, so I'm surprised Jill hasn't been displaying them more lately. One of them wanted to marry a farmer (for the food, no doubt), so Jill should find a nice Mennonite guy with a piece of land and some livestock.

Everyone and everything in the fundie's world is godly right down to music being godly. I never heard the term godly until I started reading about fundies. In the days when I was attending church mere mortals were referred to as holy or spiritual but never godly. I still find this term strange almost sacrilegist.

Me too! 20 years of Catholic Church growing up and I don’t remember every hearing that term until recently and it really bothers me.

I don't know about jewelry and makeup (probably not), but many Mennonites are OK with electricity, so the hair dryer and curling iron can stay. 

However, Jill must not reveal that she never taught the girls to cook anything other than pots of beige slop.

If they’re Old Order, yes. But they won’t look outside of their community for a wife. Regular Mennonites can span the range from super conservative socially to churches that perform same sex weddings.

She’s a hypocritical bitch, but she’s got some nerve, I’ll give her that much.  She doesn’t know the first thing about Amish religious beliefs, but she’s already judged their beliefs to be “perhaps” wrong.  In 2014, 2.5% of the adult population in the U.S. were Independent Baptists so according to Jill, in 2014 only 2.5% of Americans will go to Heaven when they die.  Heaven must be a much smaller place than what I originally thought.  She’s one nasty piece of work and IMO, the farthest thing from a Christian.

How do you think this plays out?  Does Jill suggest going out for dinner with the entire brood to celebrate Nurthan being back and then Shrek playfully "forgets" his wallet?  Does Nurie gently explain to Nathan that the only way her siblings are going to get a decent meal is if he is the one to suggest going out to eat, and then he picks up the check while Shrek chuckles, weakly protests and rubs his gigantic belly?  Or does Jill take Nathan aside and guilt him into paying, somehow twisting a Bible verses to serve her purpose?  It can't be fun for Nathan to visit his in-laws knowing that his most recent entire paycheck is going to mostly go down Shrek's gullet and the rest will be spent on a tchotchke for Jill to commemorate the visit.
