I have mixed feelings on this courtship. On one hand, for Nathan's and the Keller's sake I hope it doesn't work out. On the other hand,  Nuri is screwed if it doesn't work out, facing more starvation and possible spinster hood. 

ETA: A September/October wedding wouldn't surprise me - Jill R. has to reel this fish in before he spits the hook.

I was remembering "at Moody you have to learn mechanics and maintenance first before you become a full-time flight student" as

I guess that was wishful thinking on my part, since the mechanics-and-maintenance course is a little easier and cheaper -- so I was probably subliminally hoping all this time that Timothy'd had the good sense to go for the more feasible option instead of the more expensive and difficult one!

No such luck, of course. Because you'd only do that if you lived in reality. And he's spent his whole life living with Jill. 

He's probably much happier with the new arrangement. He doesn't have to waste time learning how planes actually work. Now he just has to fly them. 😀

Believe it or not, Jill looks much, much better and about 10 years younger without the makeup and teased/curled hair.  It’s actually amazing how much better she looks.

To be honest it's at the point that they all blend together, IBLP or not. The only ones who don't (to me) are the Jeubs and Arndts. The Jeubs, because their retention rate of keeping their adult kids in the cult is on the low side.

You'd be surprised at the level of exploitation and the lack of agency some of the models have. It's very cult like. One of my friends worked for a few different fashion houses in Europe and at the time some of them were just kids. I don't know if things have changed since she left for North America. She was struggling to find work because they expect their female workers, even if they are just pattern cutters, to be almost as scary thin as the models they hired. She simply couldn't starve herself to that level.

Well, you know, they're really urged not to work for anybody else, lest that anybody turn out to be a secret satanic heathen of some kind.

And as small do-it-all-yourself businesses go, lawn care is one of the easier ones to do (not that it's always easy). These guys generally aren't what you'd call bright, and they're definitely not educated or trained in anything. so not a lot of different business ideas occur to them, probably. I mean, they're not even supposed to ask business advice from somebody who doesn't share their religious beliefs. The bubble effect is extreme, I'd imagine, even in things like business and employment, where you'd think it wouldn't really apply. 

Same thing with them all wanting to be preachers and missionaries, I think. They live in a very small box. And seeking any kind of influence from outside the box is heavily discouraged (well, except for following every trend that shows up on social media....)In any case, though, there's room in the box for a preacher-mower, as we see with Nutso Swanson...I guess he should get points for originality.

This is the narcissistic or borderline personality at work The sense of self is split between good and bad, and the people around, especially children, get one label or the other. All the children try to appease the parent to become desirable, but it's not possible because the "good" cannot exist without the contrast of the "bad."  However, when the narcissistic parent is part of a cult, which reinforces this dichotomy, there is no outside perspective to intervene. I've had the same thoughts, aside from the vow renewal. They did that a couple of years ago on their 20th anniversary. It was, predictably, a shitshow.
