Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Maybe he thinks of it as giving the kids a minute or two to relax so they don't have to be filmed on demand.

Agree with others here, with as much as she absolutely CAN NOT put her phone down to stop filming at every inappropriate moment, it's SUUUUUUUPER odd that she hasn't posted hours upon hours of her EXTREME ordeal.

What's good, Jill?  🤔

I mean, the only value Quiverfull gives women is their ability to have babies (the ability to raise babies comes a distant third after internet-based god bothering). It makes sense that menopause hits hard.

I’m 99.999% positive they’re on Medicaid. No bills or copays on Medicaid. And that’s fine by me. I can’t stand her, but all citizens deserve medical care and we already have over 30 million who have absolutely nothing. That said, I wouldn’t put it past her to have made this whole thing up, as others have already said. It’s odd that she didn’t document all of the alleged ER visits!

Medicaid is state specific.  Ohio Medicaid is not going to pay claims from providers in Florida immediately.  Jill would have to jump through some hoops to get her ER visits covered, and they still may be declined because Jill was on vacation and not seeking specialist treatment nor does Florida border Ohio.  The various states Medicaids do cover out of state care if there are valid reasons for needing to travel to the provider.  Those reasons usually boil down to not causing an undue burden on the already cash strapped patient or patient's family.  Jill is currently on vacation in Florida visiting family.

Presuming that she was actually pregnant and miscarried, Medicaid is probably going to approve out of state coverage.  I personally think that going to the ER for a miscarriage unless there is a major hemorrhage or severe pain not relieved by over the counter meds is a waste of time, but Medicaid would consider it an emergency most of the time.  What probably wouldn't have been covered would be an outpatient visit to a regular OB/GYN.  Say Jill called Nurie's OB/GYN, told them who she was and tried to get an appointmrnt for evaluation of her pain and/or bleeding.  The doctor's office would probably turn her away because Medicaid would consider it routine care and decline to pay.  Even though the doc or midwife at a general OB/GYN office is far more experienced, can do or order everything that needs to be done and do it all at a fraction of the cost of an ER; Medicaid will probably reject it.

Of course she did 🙄. Being pregnant and having another baby wasn't about the baby at all, it was about Jill being "one of the girls" and of course her ongoing baby competition with other fundies.

I thought I saw that she said it is a gender neutral name.

Yes, she did say that it could be used for a boy or girl.  When I hear the name Reagan, the first thing I think of is the movie “The Exorcist”.

I’d be trying to crawl out the door listening to my mother’s annoying voice day in and day out. And dealing w/Mimi Jill & her herd while they visit.

According to Renee (or Jill b/c I’m not really sure are we wrote it), she’s convinced God will give them another sibling. Guess she skipped reproduction (shout out to Grease 2!) while in RodSchool.

I WAS eating! Lol

I hope another miracle does not occur so that Kaylee can have something that's just hers and hers alone (well, Jonathan's too) for probably the first time in her life.

Technically Michelle was only pregnant at the same time as her daughter-in-law; is that still Grail worthy? Meanwhile Christina Caldwell has twice been pregnant with her daughter, but lacks the twins...

I hope she has to jump through some hoops then. But she’ll just say she’s being persecuted!

Mullet was pregnant when Smuggar married, and pregnant again a year later when his wife was pregnant. So there's some fundie bonus points right there -- two pregnancies in less than a year.

I noticed in that inappropriate (obviously, it's Jill!) video that both Nurie and Kaylee were not all made up and had normally styled hair (windblown in Nurie's case) for their on demand by BME videos. Nurie's voice pitch is out in the stratosphere and her eyebrows are so distracting! But I digress. My point is that they had to have been called into service to contribute to this unnecessary video. And that they didn't even have time to pile on tons of make-up.

Priscilla Waller's inadvertent public announcement of Jill's early miscarriage has sent Jill into a frenzy of creating slapdash media content. The video is an example.

This item feels so tasteless I put it in a spoiler.

Spoiler

Now there's her online memorial to Reagan Rodrigues, using the footprints of a full term infant and the pronoun "its."

I still don't think the Rods receive any state assistance.  I know some fundies do apply for every government program under the sun "bleeding the beast" and all that jazz, but I have never gotten the impression that the Rods are this type.  They are the type who would take offense to a female caseworker reviewing their finances and having any perceived power over David.  They also have too many visible assets from their house to the RV to the camper that Tim lives in to the various cars.  The Rods are not savvy enough to hide those assets.  Compared to other families with similar beliefs, the Rods are living the high life.  They aren't poor, just foolish with their money.

Earlier this week, Jill posted about a visit with her uncle, I believe - she posted pictures (of course), plus one of her making that her stupid tongue-out, crossed eyes "funny" pic with him, although she was the only one making the stupid face.  Given the timeline, I feel like that should've been the same time she was making the rounds to visit all of the ER's due to her excruciating pain.  Her timeline is normally wonky but this time I feel like she's purposefully trying to move it backwards to fit her narrative, thinking that no one will notice.

Yesterday I came across a fascinating article in the Washington Post that shows a map of all the counties in the U.S. with their credit ratings along with percentage of health insurance and medical debt.  Credit ratings are low where there is less health insurance and considerable medical debt, and it's definitely concentrated in the southern states.  Here's the link, (hopefully it works as a gift article) if you want to look it up.   https://wapo.st/3Iq2XVW

I've forgotten...when does an embryo actually become a fetus?

Eight weeks after conception.  I suspect she wasn't even close to this; I can't imagine them keeping a positive pregnancy test hidden, so I figure she (may have) had a weird heavy period and decided to use it for grifting purposes.  Or else she saw snarkers laughing about the possibility of her being pregnant in her latest cliff-hanger "one of these is true" posts, and decided to show us!

I guess she saw people's commentary about how she didn't post every dramatic detail and decided to show us.  She really has gone over the top.

I'm not sure how many ERs she went to.  Most would probably tell her she had to wait because she wasn't bleeding or in immediate distress.  Fortunately when I recently fractured my wrist cleaning my house (that'll teach me) I was lucky enough to have an orthopedic urgent care near my house.  Otherwise, I would have spent hours at the ER waiting for an xray.  I can't see Jill waiting patiently for several hours once let alone several times.  And why were they allowed access to infusion chairs to pose for a dumb picture?  These people are just obnoxious.

Is it possible she had a false positive, and then a heavy period with awful cramps and the whole nine yards? She showed us the pee stick, and sitting in the hospital, but was a Dr actually consulted before the miscarriage?

My mind does go there......

Jill’s kids ate the best while being in utero. Jill looks like she eats well daily and probably ate well while pregnant.

After birth eating is a rare thing for her offspring.

I don't think they do badly when still nursing, but afterwards...  Jannessa looked healthier before she was weaned.

False positives are hard to fake, but it is not like Jill probably doesn't have access to plenty of her own old pee sticks.  Or, she had NotNurie pee on one.

There are some cheap older urine pregnancy tests that will start to look positive if you let them sit too long.  There's a reason why they tell you to look after a certain number of minutes.  If the woman is pregnant but just barely, her urine isn't going to have a lot of HCG in it and it could take a while to turn positive.  On the other hand, if the test is negative, the control strip (the one that always changes color to assure the test is not defective) has HCG impregnated in it to cause it to change.  If it sits for a long time, particularly if too much liquid was added (instead of 3 drops or whatever), some of the HCG on the control strip may wash away and land on the test strip and make a negative test look positive.

I noticed the test line on Jill's pee stick was a whole lot lighter than the control which means she either drank a lot of water and didn't test her first morning urine, or she did the test really soon and her HCG levels were still very low.

Since she was in Florida, I doubt she saw a doctor. If a woman who'd already had 13 kids called me after a home test, I'd tell her she should know what a positive test looks like and there's no need to repeat it.

Even if Jill had a negative pregnancy test in the ER, she'd still insist she was miscarrying and not that it was a false positive home test.

Back in the mid 80s, I was a lab tech at a doctor's clinic. We used to do the pregnancy test in a little tube with solution/sample but we started using the strips along side them to see the accuracy (like trials). You never waited too long to read them. Actually, even strips we would use for a quick urine test had to be read at a certain time otherwise it looked like you had everything wrong with you.

If you're referring to the picture with Janessa, I am in total agreement. Jill probably just laid down with her sleeping four year old, shit her eyes, and to!d DBD to keep taking pictures.

I think she may throw herself (under one of the NotNurie's names, of course) another "Pamper Mama" shower with a gift registry. She's going to get that Kitchen Aid mixer she covets so much one way or another.

And made sure to feature her wedding rings prominently in the photo.  Don't want anyone thinking she's one of those unwed mothers who doesn't deserve our pity.

If they didn't have health insurance, I expect a Go To Me Fund to be set up shortly to pay their bills.  Even though, with that many kids, their income probably qualifies them for free care.  No need to let people know about the write-off.

ETA: I notice Jill is 'sleeping' with one of those plastic hairbands keeping her hair out of her face.  Because those would never dig into the side of her head if she laid on it and would never come off while sleeping.  Mahmo wanted to be sure everyone got so see her beautiful face and noted that she was so grief stricken she didn't even wear her spackle.

Why the hell does she want a kitchen aid mixer.   It's not like she cooks/bakes for her family anyway.  Not even DBD.   She has the kids make his favorite foods or they go out to eat.

I cannot find a spread sheet, but Josie was born 12/10/09, Michelle miscarried 12/8/11. Her first grandchild via a daughter was Jill's Israel, born 4/6/15.
