Sandman87 May 3, 2017 Share May 3, 2017 Something I learned today about Enrico Caruso from a documentary segment: Not only was he the big star of opera during his lifetime and one of the first global media stars, he was also a highly gifted cartoonist. He would frequently crank out a drawing for a friend or a fan on the spur of the moment. 3 Link to comment

And all I did was lay around watching the dancing paneling and playing w/my fingers. Not everyone wants to jump out a window or off a bridge. That, to me is the TV trope. 4 Link to comment

But, after about a month of living with it, I absolutely hated it and swore to never, ever get it again. It's been 10 years now that I've been dealing with it. Maybe some day we'll be able to afford to replace everything. Until then, though.......ugh. 1 3 Link to comment

She emphasized the "grey" part of it, because that annoyed her, too (we pronounce it gran-it). :) I don't like the look of it. We have a few nice appliances, but they'd be leaving with us, if we ever sell this place. Which I suppose is a good thing, since they aren't stainless steel. I immediately went back to the front desk and did not enter alone. I tried to convince the maintenance guy who accompanied me not to touch anything because of fingerprints, but he too watches too many crime shows and pointed out that they would have to exclude his anyway. Sandman87 August 29, 2019 Share August 29, 2019 (edited) One of the commercial break bumps on [Adult Swim] taught me something so bizarre that I had to look it up to verify it: Parts of nineteenth century Austria had a festive courtship ritual in which the eligible ladies would dance while holding a slice of apple in their armpit, and then, after they were done dancing, would offer it the eligible gentleman that they were interested in. The gentleman would indicate that he was interested in the lady by accepting the apple slice, and possibly eating it. Mmmm...sweaty armpit apples! piccadilly83 September 23, 2019 Share September 23, 2019 Something I thought about yesterday was a scene of The Good Wife. I can't remember how it goes exactly, but basically Alicia's in a deportation hearing or is handling some sort of case related to immigration. The thing is, the judge handling the case is not in the room with her. The hearing takes place over a live video feed. And if I remember it correctly it was a pretty pressing issue with a lot of nuance, but the judge didn't really have time to deal with all of that. They had like 100 other cases to do by video that day, so they just needed her to plea, or to give a verdict and move on. I may not be remembering that last part correctly. The thing that stuck with me was the video feed. I guess I understand the need for it, but it seemed so strange. Deportation proceedings apparently do occur over video though.
