Oh Monica, if only you had a rich father in law with, I don’t know, his own private helicopter that could have just picked you up to go to the hospital. What a shame. The driving scene was the worst bit of tv I’ve watched in a while.

Dutton as governor is just dumb. So no one has issues that the AG is his son, his chief of staff is his daughter and he’s sleeping with a state senator. Sure, I guess only in Montana. It seems like Jamie and female senator (still don’t know her name) are trying to talk reality to him, but I guess he’s the “wall” progress beats itself against so it’s all good.

Despite all this shows flaws I do just enjoy watching it for the scenery and the over the top characters. It is not rooted in reality at all but I guess that’s it’s charm.

I agree...but I will give props for the time they spend on the issue of the development of resorts, homes and small airports and undeveloped land that is the crown jewel of that state. I wish they would put some focus on native issues besides casinos...although they did do an arc on missing indigenous women recently.

Loved Beth's fantastical dressing down of the Romeo hitting on her.  It would be a fun discussion debating if he were closer to the dude she was describing, or just an "innocent" victim.

Jamie is usually presented as a shrewd lawyer on matters of State.  But, he never mentioned the zoning loophole which would allow for a conservancy?  Really bad, Sheridan.  The character we know would not have missed that and he would not have dared withhold that from the Guv in that moment.

The other piece of very anomalous behavior was when Beth had just been forced to be CoS.  She picked up the appointment calendar and acted in a confused manner.  No way.  Beth would have instantly sliced and diced most every entry for the day, regardless the effect.  She cared only about protecting Daddy and clearing a path for the conservancy declaration.

Rainwater was handed a massive win by Dutton, yet his own pigheadedness means he has to make an enemy of him.  No way can the Confederation agree to the modern boundaries in place.  I am confused by his expressed concern about the radical advocate.  Either he truly means the solemn vows he made about taking back their land (as they define it) or he does not.  He is still, by far, the most interesting character on this show, to me.

ME's CEO throwing hizzy fits was arguably the worst character take of all the preposterous takes in these eps.  She already took a huge loss and the unstable ravings would be the end of her with the Board, imo.  She'd be hanging by a thread - and John just snipped it clean.

Asbille did her best-ever job in the 2nd ep.  Not saying much, but props to her nonetheless.

Loved seeing no Jimmy in the show.  HATED seeing him (actor) fronting for Duluth clothes.

I'd bet most everything I have and you have that the driver will end up being the one who betrays John and causes his removal from office.

Refresh my memory-does Rip know about Beth and Jamie and the sterilization?  I can’t remember.

I didn’t understand what Kayce was doing with the horses, and just like last season his scenes seem to belong in a completely different show. I don’t care about Monica and although losing the baby was tragic these two need another kid like a hole in the head.  Tate’s voice got so deep!

Is Carter being played by the same actor?

YES!!! it's the same kid all growed up!! LOL...Or at least mid teens. Crazy how he shot up and slimmed way down! LOL

Yes, it really was crazy how he shot up and slimmed down!  I had to look at him several times before I realized it was him.

If I lived in Montana I would hate this portrayal of my state. John is voted in as governor because he wants to protect HIS ranch and HIS family. Never mind that he knows nothing about any issues and Montana is not a state comprised solely of ranches. There are actually cities. There are very real issues beyond land preservation and John's farm.

Beth is a very tiring character. She is so outraged she cannot be a mother yet when given the chance to mother a child who desperately needs her she treats him like dirt. She would be a horrible mother and only wants a kid because she thinks it's what RIP wants and because she thinks Jamie took the option away from her. The writers have made her such a caricature, the "bitch in the boardroom." I'm embarrassed for her and cringe when she does her strong woman routine.

I really don't understand her hold over Jaime. He should just say enough and call her bluff. If I understand correctly she just told him she was going to let him serve her needs for a bit and then ruin his life. I'd just tell her to go for it after talking to Dad.

My husband broke his ankle and is stuck in bed. He asked me if he should start watching "this show Yellowstone." I was honest and told him I hate watch it now when I am bored. He did decide to start and is on Season 1, episode 7. I imagine it won't be long before he gives up.

Now I'm more confused. The scene where men are poisoning everything to put up a cell tower happened 30 years ago to a young John Dutton?  Who was living alone in a small stone cabin?  Really??

Later (in the present) Rip is awakened by his cell phone in the middle of the night to deal with the unlawful killing of protected wolves. Guess that sabotage of the cell tower workers didn't matter so much. If Rip had much self-awareness, he'd feel guilty every time he used a cell phone at the ranch. But the characters on this show always seem to prefer to take immediate (if ineffectual or illegal) action to going through the process.

Based on how they treat Carter, it is all for the best that Beth and Rip can't have children of their own. At this point, they shouldn't be able to adopt or foster kids, either. No babysitting, even. They would be horrible parents. Carter is better off with the guys in the bunk house.

Last night when I wasn't sleeping, a random thought meandered across my head.  The Duttons' took Rip in as a kid and basically made him their indentured servant (I though slave might be too harsh), the same way they are doing with Carter now.  A while back, Rip said he had no drivers license, nothing to prove who he is.

Now John is governor.  A governor with one at least one undocumented worker on his ranch.  Several others he has branded.  A young child not in the system (although the sheriff (dead) did bring him to them).

Somehow I don't think this is a good look for a governor.

In the real world, every bit of that would have been brought up during the campaign.   Even before that, he was head of the Livestock Association, and in the headlines often. His daughter’s office was blown up!
There are people who know exactly who Rip is. For example, he had his mother exhumed so he could get the ring.  There is no way Rip could interact with the various officials ( conservation agents etc)  that he does  without people having checked his background.

Apparently, the entire state of Montana is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dutton Ranch, Inc.

I came here to see if I was the only one underwhelmed by this premiere.  Glad to know I'm not.  I agree with others that I almost hope the Duttons do get taken out.  Josh Lucas' John just punching that cell tower guy, then dousing him and his home with pesticide?  Rip's callous treatment of Carter after the kid broke his arm?  The list goes on.  It is really becoming difficult to root for these asshats.

As for Jamie, Beth's hold over him is based on photographic evidence of him disposing of a (wrapped up) body.  His "oh shit!" look when caught and photographed filled in the blanks.  Beth also assumes Jamie was in on his bio-dad's plot to kill the Duttons.  So, she's blackmailing him based on this.

The problem is Jamie knows every single illegal thing the Duttons have ever done.  Given his role as consigliere (hey, adopted just like Tom Hagen!), there's a chance he knows even more than Beth, particularly as she was living out of state prior to the show start.  Jamie should push back on Beth and tell her files on every body taken to the train station, every hanging, every murder, every assault, every theft have been sent to various points in the country to be opened and sent to proper authorities upon his untimely demise.  And he should give her a copy just so she knows he's not bluffing.  So, if she wants to turn him in for a possible murder, she'd better be ready to say goodbye to her beloved Daddy and Rip too.  Check.  Mate.

That makes too much sense for Sheridan. Instead we get Beth threatening her brother and he takes it.  I have waited for Sheridan to end the hateful scenes but I guess he likes writing them.

I don't know what Taylor Sheridan is like in real life, but I think he has a punchable face.  So, it wouldn't surprise me if he takes joy in writing hateful scenes and stories about murderous asshats.

I rewatched the second episode because my DVR cut out early and, based on the comments here, I missed a whole bunch.  I call bullshit on the Paraquat problem in the flashback.  You would have to spray thousands of gallons over that mountainside to even get some runoff into the stream down to the Dutton ranch.  Besides which, he had a backhoe there to clear grass away from the site.  I get the plot point though; everyone's against the rancher community and eco terrorism is okay as long as it's your property that's involved.  Secondly, that wolf collar solution is most certainly going to bite them in the ass.  Ironically, it is legal to kill a collared wolf outside the park, as long as it's reported.  Montana has basically an open season on wolves.  The other interesting thing is that when they discovered the dead cow, one of the cowboys said straight up that wolves didn't kill the cow.  So what did?  A tie in to the flashback with the herbicides, then?

Ha!  Good one.  Yes, let's portray all the powerful women as psychopaths, bcause as we all know, you're either a Monica or a Beth. No middle ground.

Random thought:  So the Piper Perabo plotline is over?

Yeah, but I would sort of like to throat punch him over his treatment of Carter.  Enough is enough of that sh*t already.

I'm assuming that Governor Dutton can now issue a pardon and release her from prison, although I thought she was convicted of a federal crime. (Really didn't care so wasn't paying much attention to her story.) If it requires a Presidential pardon, likely he'll make a call to Senator Lynelle who will call the President and it will happen in days. She's getting out of prison for sure and I hate that Lynelle will likely disappear off in Washington. Her relationship with John Dutton was much more interesting to me than his with Piper Perabo's wishy-washy character (ok, Googled and oh yeah, her name is Summer -- LOL). I don't expect this season to change my mind about her. Hoping Beth will take her out quickly. Maybe take along Monica for a double drop at the train station.

And what is she going to do with this "evidence?"  She can't tell anybody "go look at the bottom of this ravine" because a whole lot of shit will be revealed if she does.  Jamie really, really needs to call her bluff.   She said once before (but I don't believe her) that she would respect him a whole lot more if he would actually man up.   I choose to believe he's saving it all up and will destroy her at some point.  That's my rainbow-and-glitter-covered, rose-color-glasses hope.

I'm just waiting (hoping) Jamie gets to the point where he doesn't give a flying fuck anymore, and tells her to go ahead, while reminding her that the rest of the family (including Rip) will go down with her.  She's been assuming that he's "controllable", but has still been speaking up here and there regardless, so he's not a complete pussy.

Its not a federal crime because at one point, John said to the judge something about "remind me again when you're up for re-election"  Federal judges are not elected.  I only know this because I watch w captions and it was a quiet throw away line.

I like scenery and cowboy stuff but hate how everyone is so mean. John and Beth are vicious with everyone they talk to and Rip treats Carter like dirt under his shoe. Rip was even yelling at the guys in the bunkhouse for laughing when they were off duty. The real world doesn’t work like that. Then we have a new business woman who is exactly like Beth. Not all women in business think every guy is staring at them and wants to fuck them. I guess I’m supposed to care about the Dutton ranch but hope they lose it all.

And it's not like the new business woman wasn't exploiting herself and then gets snarky when she is looked at in a way that doesn't agree with her. I find Beth boring enough, I don't need another one doing the same thing.

A lot of unnecessary scenes tonight and very underwhelming, as others have said.  I'm not interested in a political show with him pretending to be Governor. It's laughable really.   I'd rather see more interaction between Carter and John.  The scene with them was the highlight of the 2 hours tonight, IMO.

What's Taylor Sheridan's end game?  There's so much foreshadowing and everyone so grim about the future of the Ranch.
How much more shit is he going to put Monica through?  I hate her character, but not sure what the whole pregnancy, and losing it, was even put in the show.

I guess the people of the State hope that Dutton will fight for everyone but I do find it laughable that he has been elected solely on the premise that he wants to save his ranch. Is he the only ranch owner in the whole state?

The reaction of their son saying he wants them to try for another one so soon after losing the baby was a bit much. I know he's just a kid but surely he is old enough to know that sex would not be at the forefront of his parents minds right now let alone wanting to make another baby.

Have to say this wasn't worth the wait. Very boring 2 hrs. Why did we need to waste time on the early Beth / Rip scenes? They brought nothing to the show and all it did was prove Beth has always been a slut and a bitch. Wonder what "Daddy" would think knowing she's worked her way through the bunkhouse?

Those scenes painted Rip out to be a cuck from the start. He wasn't ok with Beth's behaviour and hung in there anyway. Beth might be slutty which would be popular but she isn't all that attractive. I have always found her to be an annoying caricature. The way she dressed at her father's ceremony was over the top. At least the new "Evil" Beth type woman dresses in a more refined and adult manner.

As for Beth, the scene in the "I love this bar" with the guy was just completely unnecessary.  He sees an attractive woman in a bar sitting alone and wants to talk to her, and she then proceeds into a completely unwarranted (and possible not even true) takedown of him.  Not sure if this was supposed to be a "you go girl!" moment for her.  I know many people dislike Beth, but I've always thought she was awesome, despite her flaws.  This was the first time in five seasons that I truly found myself disliking her.  The guy was just being friendly and saying hello.

She literally gave him an opportunity to leave her alone "with his dignity intact". He is not entitled to her time and she was clear she didn't want to talk to him. That should have been the end of it (as it so often should) but he wouldn't take no (as they so often don't).

Did she go a bit far? Maybe - but that's Beth. I am not a fan of the character but that scene made me smile a bit.

What was going on with Costner's voice? Was he acting or actually kind of hoarse?

The young version of Rip hadn't grown into his studness yet, lol. The actress playing the young version of Beth certainly had the snotty attitude down pat.

The barstools sure were far apart from each other in that place young Beth and Rip went to. Still social distancing?

"Clown car" used as a verb. Gotta remember that one.

What was that business with the horses and the helicopter? And who were those guys Kayce's men were taking aim at? Were they rustlers?

A young Black woman singing the anthem at Dutton's inauguration? Not bloody likely. They must've brought her in from out of state, hah hah. Wonder if she wore a Basquiat skirt.

Is Ryan Bingham (Walker ) okay? He was looking scary thin to me, even moreso than last season.

Beth was needlessly nasty to that singer Abby. Jealous much?

Monica. Bleh. Yeah, she really should not have been driving if she knew she was in full-on labor. She's lucky Tate came through with just some scratches because she could've lost both kids.

Man, over on reddit they really, really, really hate Monica. I was laughing so hard at all the ways they suggested she could be killed off.

S5E2
Monica was thrown from the car. Wow, she's lucky she didn't die and was still conscious, and that Tate was able to get a signal on his phone.

"If you don't play the game, the game plays you." Cringe.

For a minute Jamie thought he was Michael Corleone but now he's back to being Beth's Fredo. Yawn.

Ugh, how is Kayce blaming himself? Monica is the one who chose to drive at night while she was in labor. She stays being the the eternal victim.

Looks like they've decided to let Monica be pale again. I think she's lighter-skinned than all the Duttons even though she's full Native American. And Sheridan could give a fuck.

That is one ice-cold piece they brought in to honeytrap Jamie. Brr.

If the payments on Beth's car are low the length of the lease must be like 20 years. That's not really a great deal unless she plans to keep trading in for a new model every year or two, forever.

Universities loan their professors money to buy houses in other states? If that guy Beth savaged defaults on his loan, Northwestern University becomes a property owner in Montana. That makes no sense to me.

I think Q'orianka Kilcher (Angela Blue Thunder, the tribal attorney) needs to ease up on the fillers. Her cheeks and lips were so swollen they almost looked infected to me.

It won't happen, but I'd like to see one of the victims of Beth's takedowns turn the tables on her - "I think you're a daddy's girl who's a little long in the tooth to be wearing an outfit like that, but you think you look good with your tangled hair and unexceptional cleavage, spouting vulgar words because you aren't quite smart enough to have a real vocabulary. But if this is working for you, then why change now?"

They were rustling horses, trying to get them across the Canadian border.  It wasn't really well explained, nor was it important to the plot.  It was just a way to get Kayce out of the area and all the way to the border so Monica would be on her own during childbirth.

That is all fine in terms of the ethics and morality of it.

I think for a lot of us Beth is just a boring one trick pony. She comes in throws a tantrum, makes threats, puffs and drinks her way through a scene and then insults just about anyone around her.

I think her own dignity took more of a hit than the man's to be honest. I don't recall him confirming any of her assumptions. I know what I am like when people make assumptions about me. I don't confirm or deny and just leave them guessing and unanswered. More often than not they are very wrong anyway.

I noticed his voice as well. Costner is also playing a character that is much younger than himself which can be confusing at times. Maybe he had a cold or just a bad day/week?

Young Rip was pathetic. In some ways he has changed but I don't understand why he tolerates Beth although he has married up (Financially speaking) which is interesting in a TV show where it is usually the women who marry up from humble beginnings.

He showed a deeper side when he

Spoiler

that the party was like Nero fiddling while Rome burned. He knows what is coming. Didn't mean to insert a spoiler. Don't know how to get rid of it...

I'm guessing we will see more of the horse rustlers and how Jamie crossed the border in coming eps. It will tie in somewhere or be used against the Duttons. It was also a sleight against weak Canadian laws and jails as the rustlers were keen to avoid American prisons.

I think even Dutton would know how to play politics and someone on his team would go for a diversity hire to sing the anthem!

Beth can't help being a bitch and that singer did nothing to warrant it. Other than the singer just not being a cynical bitch like Beth so I guess that is all it takes to piss Beth off.

I'm sure Monica could have called for the Dutton helicopter or truck. Not to mention lived on the Dutton ranch to begin with. Another tough independent woman on this show kicking own goals.

Jamie is a sniper. He will stay on the fringes, kow tow to Beth and then strike when he is ready.

Why would Beth even have payments on her car? Are the Duttons only wealthy on paper? It seems to be the case but what about Beth herself? Or has the price of booze and cigarettes really taken a hit on her disposable income?

I would say Dutton will get Piper out of jail some way or another. Even if it is just day excursions! lol

I can see a woman doing that more than a man. In this show it seems we are meant to be believe Beth is hot tamale that men will kill to spend time with. Given the character is meant to be mid 30's they have cast the wrong actress as Kelly looks early 50's and trashy more than a wealthy ranch heiress.

But that's just me, I find Beth to be uber dull.

Yeah, I'm tiring of her like I tired of Jamie a couple of seasons ago.  Her manner of speaking is really getting on my nervs also, the rather slow, deliberate speech pattern. (Which I suspect may be because the actress is a Brit?)  I dunno.

I think her own dignity took more of a hit than the man's to be honest. I don't recall him confirming any of her assumptions. I know what I am like when people make assumptions about me. I don't confirm or deny and just leave them guessing and unanswered. More often than not they are very wrong anyway.

Why would she care whether her assumptions were true or not, though? The point wasn't to learn about this random man, the point was to get him to go away. She wanted to be left alone and instead he literally asked for it, so she let loose. You could see him visibly wilt about two sentences in, so I think it's safe to say some of what she said hit home regardless. Don't get me wrong - I don't like Beth, but that man can shove it.

Why would Beth even have payments on her car? Are the Duttons only wealthy on paper? It seems to be the case but what about Beth herself? Or has the price of booze and cigarettes really taken a hit on her disposable income?

The Duttons are relatively cash poor, so it doesn't surprise me she'd have payments. Maybe it's a lease?

I thought it was odd that the valet parker at the restaurant actually asked Beth how much are the lease payments? How is that any of that his business and odd that he assumed it was a lease. That would never happen in real life and the fact that Beth had a conversation about it with him? Strange and awkward scene.

Beth is chaotic, she is only happy when punches are being thrown, verbal or otherwise... she is all about consequences for other people but not herself. Now Beth is in jail and that is a consequence that she will fight, she really does not understand how her actions caused her problems, what is the name of that syndrome?

The woman that flirted with Rip had no reason to approach Beth, she could have simply walked away.

Shame on John Dutton if he makes this mess go away and Beth has no punishment but Piper P's character is locked up for 15 years(or more?) for pushing a police officer that had no bruises to show for it.

Oh I think she had a reason. I think she was paid to do it. I think the hotshot lawyers from out of town have done their research and found Beth's weak spots.

It won't happen, but I'd like to see one of the victims of Beth's takedowns turn the tables on her

I haven't seen the actress in anything else so not sure if that is just the way she speaks (the slow part). Or is she trying to attempt a Western/Country drawl?

I'm not American so I don't know how accurate their accents are for that part of the country. They do at least all sound like they are from the same region which is often over looked in TV shows where actors are part of the same family living in the same region but all speak a different type of regional accent.

If she was trying to appear intelligent or insightful it does matter if her comments were accurate. Yes he did go away but that was just because he worked out she's a bitter and twisted woman. Yes, he was slow to work that out but some people learn slowly.

The Dutton's do seem cash poor and if they sold the ranch they would have more than enough to set themselves up somewhere else without the need to worry about running a business. I suspect when John Snr does the family will sell up quick smart and do just that.

A lot of those types of staff feel a need (or a told to) make small talk with their clients. That said it was a rude comment and stupid thing to say all the same.

Confusing and boring second episode. For me, too much filler on ranching, specifically animal shooting stuff. I had to guess to figure out the old scenes of John and the pesticide issue but I don't follow how it ties into today? Also, please don't tell me John is sleeping with his aide. What was with the awkward scene where she came outside in the morning, wearing the previous day's clothes and had coffee with John. Did she show up off-camera or I missed her arriving in the morning? I had the distinct impression that she'd spent the night at Y.

That he's always been a bully and a thug and isn't afraid to use a little muscle to get what he wants.

I think a number of staffers/security came to the ranch for the night since they were on a 'road show' to different cities around the state.

I have gone back and forth in my feelings about Beth over the seasons, but she has become more unlikeable since the end of last season. So I have binge watched this show the past week from the start and I find her completely repulsive. I don’t really like the actress’s choices, either. My God does she ever just walk instead of sashaying everywhere she goes?

Just starting to watch this season. Um... so you guys are loving it, yes? 😂🤣

I hate watch it too, much like I hate watch General Hospital. How does the joke go... the show is terrible and what the hell with only 6 episodes?!!

Y'all covered everything I was gonna say, except this: After the car crash, why was Monica lying 50 yards off the road in the middle of a field. I know she was thrown from the car, but damn, that car should pitch for the major leagues!

Couldn't even make it through the first episode. None of the characters are even remotely appealing. I can't imagine that Montana residents like the way their state is portrayed here. The Montana in this show doesn't even resemble the Montana in Big Sky. I don't think the characters of Big Sky would be raging liberals or progressives, but surely they wouldn't stand for such a corrupt family/dynasty being in charge of the state purely for their own financial gain. The Montana portrayed in this show is just a red state fantasy. How is John Dutton going to be able to enforce any of the laws against out-of-staters? Especially the sales tax one?  If that is addressed, I apologize. Like I said, I never finished watching this episode. It's just gotten too ridiculous for me. Not even the scenery porn and being a fan of Kevin Costner from way back could keep me around.

I don't understand why Monica didn't have Tate driving. She almost killed 4 people that night.  I'm not being an asshole, but come on, how in the fuck did she expect to drive and have contractions. Tate should have been driving. He has lived on a ranch and is Kasey's son, he would know how to drive. She needs to stop treating him like he's 2.

Because the whole thing was contrived.  Monica is the tragic soap opera heroine on this show.  This is the second major accident she's been in.  The first one almost left her paralyzed.  Tate could have driven, like you said.  She could have called an ambulance.  Why was she driving like a bat out of hell?  She knows you need to drive cautiously on those rural highways.  Those were some mighty contractions!  And why was she thrown fifty feet from the car?  No seat belt?  Would she even be alive?  The whole thing was, the writers decided they didn't want a baby on the show, and it was a great excuse to toss another tragedy Monica's way.

I think that the real reason is that TPTB wrote her pregnancy in last season to humanize both her and Kayce, and then maybe realized that a baby storyline is a killer (ban pun, I know) in a drama.  They wanted the pregnancy but not the baby, so they had to kill the fetus, and a car accident is convenient enough.  Plus, it generates sympathy for them, at least for part of the demographic.

Especially the sales tax one?

Right! Not to mention a retail nightmare. Montana doesn't have a sales tax, so to make people from out of state pay one, they'd have to ID everyone so they'd be able to identify who is a resident and who isn't. I'm sure that would be a popular thing to do. When I worked in retail, sometimes people from states with no sales tax (MT, OR, AK were the nearest ones) would present their IDs to avoid having to pay sales tax in our state (WA). That was a pain, and those people were volunteering the info. I can't imagine shoppers being ok with having to prove they are legal residents for all their purchases, day in and day out.

Whoever thought that idea up never worked retail, I think! LOL

As bad as John is, the little we've seen of his wife indicates that she was an absolute monster who created the monster that is Beth. Jaime did the human race a favor by getting Beth sterilized (as silly as that reveal was) and making sure she couldn't give birth to a kids who would have been the worst of all.

As bad as Jaime is, I hope he's the one to get rid of Beth. But Taylor Sheridan seems to be on love with Beth and thinks she's awesome.

Count me in with those who thought this was a boring opener to the season.

Not only was the episode boring but Beth is so one note. How is she not boring herself to death with her tiresome anger issues? She's a terrible human being like most of the people on this show.

The other thing that I find irritating is how her alcoholism is treated like it's some sort of endearing character trait. She's not some wine with dinner or the overindulge at the occasional happy hour type of drinker. She's an aggressive, mean drunk who is unpleasant to be around (to put it mildly) when she's been drinking.

Monica is even more boring than Beth. At least with Beth I can get a cheap laugh or two. Monica is just boring and sad and back in the hospital *again*. Sheridan seriously has no idea what to do with her character. The female characters on this show just aren't well written. It's too bad because both Beth and Monica could have had potential with better writers.

Oh yes, how could we forget Monica, where the entertainment value of Yellowstone goes to die. You're 100% right Avaleigh about her and the other female characters on this show. Now we have Native American Beth and Evil Corporate Beth to go along woth "Classic" Beth. Each of them the same character because Sheridan either writes women who are terrible or boring like Monica. Even a great actress like Jackie Weaver struggles with her character on that show. What was with the over-the-top shourlting when Dutton canceled the funding which she knew was going to happen?

I wish Rip had hooked up with that Sheiff's deputy he saved in Season 1 rather than Beth. Speaking of Rip, he had really warmed up to Carter last season and now he's treating him like shit again. Have to wonder if this is because of Beth, who probably threw a hissy fit at Rip after Carter dared to call her "Mama".

I understand that John doesn't want to be governor (I mean, he only said it 10000 times in this episode alone) but having to be told three times to state his name during the oath of office would have gotten hin widely ridiculed on just about every media outlet imaginable.

They had toned down some of John's antics over the past few seasons and tried to make him a little more sympathetic. But these episodes were a reminder of how bad a person he is. A selfish man and a thug.

Jamie was wrong to throw in with his mom-murdering father but considering how badly both Beth and John treat him then and now, is it going to come as a surprise when he inevitably betrays them and the ranch again?

Makes me glad to be a “flatlander” . I live in a progressive state but in a backwoods area where new people & ideas  are never accepted by the long established local yokel  families . I also hate watch this show, despise the Duttons  & hope they and their ranch die tragic deaths. Only the animals survive.

Finally got around to watching. Bailed after about twenty minutes. What exactly was the necessity of that flashback between Beth and Rip? To set up another "prequel" once Taylor Sheridan loses Kevin Costner?

I hoped the show would redeem itself after the awful spinoff-attempting  S4. But no.
