What on god's green earth was Tyra wearing tonight?

I like Nev but can we never hear about his chest hair again, please?

I did not expect Skai to be the first to get a 10. I wasn't paying enough attention to say if I think she deserved it, though.

There was so much going on behind AJ I barely saw the dance.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen such a voting blunder on this show.

This is also the first time in years that I’ve seen general improvement from most couples at week four so it was really who has the votes.

Bye Anne. I really wished you lasted longer. But this is becoming a tougher season than I first thought.

also, Nev’s nipples!  Hi there. Didn’t really want to know that fact about you but hey, 2020z

I think Anne did herself no favors by mentioning her previous relationship with Ellen DeGeneres in view of the very negative publicity surrounding Ellen these days.

Heh, yeah, I was watching that and was like, "...well, this is an interesting time to reference that relationship...". I do feel bad for her having to deal with all that shit back in the day, though. That really sucks. And I am sad to see her go-again, another week where I'm not surprised at who went home, but given how much fun she was clearly having and whatnot, for her sake, I do feel bad. And I feel bad for Monica, too-what a weird glitch at the end there.

"We weren't really watching the arm movements." LOL, so true, Carrie Ann :D. Damn, Vernon... That dance made me want to rumba with him. That was...nice. Yes ;). Also, his grandma is awesome.

I kinda like Johnny Weir's hair all long and shaggy. Fun dance, too. Justina's was entertaining, too-she's clearly having a total ball and I love it.

Also liking "Seven Nation Army" as a tango song. It works. That dance felt almost like something out of a movie. As did Skai's-oh, I'm so happy for her, her dance was absolutely beautiful. Such a sad story about her friend, he sounded like a sweet kid.

Loved Cheryl's reaction to the idea of dancing to "Larger than LIfe". One of my favorite Backstreet Boys songs. The virtual thing was kind of odd, but eh, still fun to watch.

This is gonna get tougher as the season goes on, 'cause yeah, everyone really stepped up their game this week and they're all good to great, so it'll be interesting to see how things shake out going forward.

I happened upon the last five minutes waiting for my show to come on. I haven't really been watching but has Tyra's voice been  that flat and lifeless when reading "who's safe/who's in jeopardy"? I swear she was reading her grocery list or something. Also, her comment about "this is live and we make mistakes"...yeah, Tom never made that one that I know of...She joins Steve Harvey and Warren Beatty in that club.  Yeah, I miss the show I used to love, this sure as hell ain't it...

First time I've ever felt sorry for Tyra. She got absolutely screwed by the producers who got all the votes wrong. But then again, that's where Tom is so badly missed, he'd have found a humorous way to pull himself out of that hole like the best presenters do. Poor Tyra was like a rabbit trapped in headlights. What a mess!

I thought Skai's dance was good, don't get me a wrong, worth 8s like everybody else. But a 10!!! No way at all. She's probably not getting the votes and ABC as they do every season they cast one, you know they've got to protect the young Disney kid.

This is a strange season to me. There are loads of good dancers but still no stand out winner or top two yet after Week 4 which is rare.

YES! Thank you! I kept trying to figure out who he looked like throughout the show :p!

I also loved his mom's comments. "What is he doing...What is he wearing...What is that hair...?" (paraphrased)

I said to my friend "glad to know his mom has the same thoughts I do." 🤣

You would think that for being a former supermodel Tyra would know better than to wear these things.

I agree. Carrie Ann gets carried away at times.

Tyra's dress made her look big. I still miss Tom. I don't know whose fault the mix up was. It was such a 2020 thing.

Just did, and wow, yeah, this world was robbed of a very kind and generous person. Quite a lot to achieve in such a short lifetime. I've no doubt there'll be many who'll carry on the work he supported.

The elimination and Tyra's dress were one big clusterfuck.

What was NOT a clusterfuck? The music selections. Yes, the band didn't perform them the greatest, but White Stripes, "Smooth" by Santana and Rob Thomas, Elton John, Al Green, John Legend, and BSB of course? Hell yeah! The songs totally matched each dance style too.

I'm just blaming 2020 for everything at this point. The memory card in my tablet just up and died this afternoon. Thanks, 2020.

Sounded like they gave her a wrong card; she did say she was just reading the cards (sounded like she was panicking slightly, though. "It's not my fault, I swear!").

We were talking about this last week. She's announcing people safe and she makes it sound like it's the most serious. thing. ever. Like, sound happy for the people who will live to dance another day, won't you?

Our son lives with epilepsy and Cameron’s death hit us hard.  I loved every word Skai said about Cameron tonight and the pictures from their history together were precious.  He was a wonderful young man and taken way, way, way too soon.  I was a little teary when she got the great accolades, Carrie Ann’s respect for the story, and they all stood up.  It was personal for us.  So - way to go, Skai, and yes, I feel like Cameron was watching over you and cheering you on tonight.

Everything about that routine played to Johnny Weir’s strengths and Brit’s choreo was a lot of fun to watch

There is something weird with Johnny that I can't pinpoint, something with his legs.  It could be their shape or the way he moves them; they just aren't looking right.

I briefly flashed back to that when they were interviewing Anne after her dance-she was kinda out of breath and I got a little nervous for her there for a moment!

I mentioned in an earlier thread about she would have handled Cristian de la Fuente popping a bicep tendon in front of her.  Not well, I expect.  Tom would have for sure popped in a 'Steve Harvey handling the results printer' reference in there somewhere.

This is the first episode I've actually watched this year and, hoo boy!  I didn't think anything could look worse than that opening outfit she was swanning all about in...until she changed into the second one.

"Hey costumer, I bet you can't make Miss Banks' hips look any bigger than they actually are."

"Challenge accepted.  I'll call your hips and throw in a dumpy boob bodice."

"Hey, hair and makeup, you want in on this?"

"Oh, hell yeah, you're on!"

Apparently Randall was one of the cuts.

Meanwhile, if there was ever a man born to wear sheer forest green glitter pants with cuban heels, it's Johnny Weir.  Damn, those legs of his made me wish I was a guy.  Also, I got Sara Gilbert c. late era Roseanne from his hair.  Which is not a bad thing, I envied her hair all through out that show.

I just am not understanding Tyra’s wardrobe choices. Her body is amazing but save for her first dress tonight (which I liked), everything has accentuated her hips or waist and made her look so much bigger than she is. I don’t get it at all.

I am loving Nev, and also Britt.

Disappointed with Jesse and I find myself not even paying attention to his dances.
Nelly, I fast forward. Is it just me or does he not seem happy to be there?

The same way the judges made comments about wanting to see Kaitlyn do something other than ballroom, I feel the same way about Justina. Yes, she had the foxtrot but I’d like to see her do more of that rather than all Latin/up-tempo dances.

I thought Crishell looked very nice tonight.

I caught the last five minutes and I agree that Tyra did not handle that well.  She got way too frazzled.  "You gotta say it, they're in my ear, they're in my ear!"  I did live TV and radio (in college, with probably an audience of 7 rather than 7 million, I admit) and the first lesson was not to panic.  I don't care for her as a host but I felt bad for her.

I don't know why Bruno said "it happened in the UK."  Maybe it did and we never saw it, because their results show has been taped and aired the evening after the live dancing for over a decade.  They've had a few hairy moments, including wardrobe malfunctions of all sorts and a situation where they realized too late that they'd been soliciting votes for a contestant whose salvation from the dance-off was mathematically impossible given the way they compiled the final leaderboard at that time.  But if "it" is "reading the wrong names into the ether," that certainly never happened.

Here's an old favorite clip of mine, with the late Bruce Forsyth and the couple's mics becoming entwined at the beginning of their dance.  He handled the situation, which starts properly about 2:00 in, with brilliant aplomb.  From the moment he cuts the band off, he is in control, not losing his head, but not acting deadly serious either.  He and the two ladies who have also been presenters have done years and years of live TV and seem ready or anything.  It takes someone like that, or Tom.  Poor Tyra never really had a chance.

I’m wondering if the stylists hate Tyra. She’s a beautiful woman with an amazing body, but that dress was just super unflattering. (And if that dress is so unflattering on her, who the heck would it flatter? Yikes.) I would think that Tyra would have final approval on her wardrobe, though.

Did not get the love for Skai’s dance. She stood there for too long in the beginning, and again at a later point. I has the same issue with Chrishell’s last week and this week.

I don’t know when Tyra changed her outfit, but I do know my reactions was “what fresh hell is that??” Geez, her hair, her makeup, that second dress... AND SHE IS AN EXEC PRODUCER on the show! Did I miss that mirrors spread COVID-19 so they had to remove them?

On the other hand, I think the female pros have looked especially pretty this season.

The snafu at the end was totally Tyra's fault. She had already started to announce the bottom two couples when there were actually three couples still standing...right in front of her!!

No matter what's being said in her ear, how do you miss seeing 3 couples "standing right here in front of me"? Huh, Tyra?

Thank you !!  That's where an experienced host would have been very useful. You know there are 3 couples still on the floor, so you don't even read the card out loud when it says the bottom 2 ,like she did. You stop it before it even gets to that point. Obviously she's not aware of her surroundings or anything that's standing right in front of her.

They give Tyra cards? Actual, physical cards? Didn't they pipe the names directly into Tom's earpiece? Tyra has an earpiece, she references "they" in her ear when she's pushing the judges to go faster. So they don't trust her to repeat what they say but they trust her to read off a card?

I only 'watched about ten minutes of last night's show!  What have they done?

Tara was scary looking...trick or treat scary.  Those eyes...that hair...the dress!

I didn't even recognize the judges with their bleached hair.

This show has definitely taken many steps back from the classy show it once was!

Note:  did I really see one of the celebrity dancers inject her tummy!!!  I about fainted.  I know what it's for but is that a part of any dance show???

I got secondhand embarrassment from last night’s episode - pacing is terrible to begin with (Tyra rushes the judges through their critiques for time but then asks contestants inane questions To drag out the post-performance interviews - maybe it’s to tally or something, but it’s an uneven mess) and then that elimination snowballed from a miscount (announcing Bottom 2 with three couples remaining) into an absolute disaster. I don’t have any investment in Monica/Val, but if I was a producer, after that screwup I’d say NO ONE goes home this week and then make next week a double elimination. It’s pretty rude to jerk people around by calling them safe and then calling them back out to place them in jeopardy, and it was incredibly unfair to Anne/Keo, too - who could vote out Monica/Val after they were given a false sense of security?!? The wheels are coming off the DWTS bus at an alarming rate.
