I'm honestly surprised by the argument that Karine should be satisfied with whatever they live in because she lives in a pile of sticks back home.

For starters, her house in Brazil may not have been much, but it was her home. Her parents and siblings were there. She had support. She had...walls.

That first trailer was awful* and the second one was a camper. We're not talking about Areola bitching about dated furniture and dark colors here. Because she lived in a poorer (to American standards) house back in Brazil she doesn't deserve better than a former meth lab here?

And they don't have to live like that. There are other options here-apartments and small houses that have actual insulation and drywall. Who knows what he told her life would be like here. Paul has a warped sense of reality to begin with. 

Eventually the show's going to have to do what TEEN MOM did and stop ignoring the elephant in the room. They're not poor and derelict. I know shows hate to break the 4th wall, but once TM did and they started recognizing the MTV money instead of pretending like the girls were drawing SNAP benefits the show became more enjoyable. 

* Unfortunately people DO rent things like that out here. They'll give people 2 free months of rent and, in return, the renters will fix them up. Even if Paul and Karine bought that trailer I wouldn't even trust him with a Bob the Builder set...

I bet a lot of Karine's issues on the show this week are that she expected to come to the U.S. have a great house, have mother-in-law give them a place to live or rent them something, and Pole wouldn't be a fool.    Unfortunately, reality was nothing like that when she came here.   So Karine didn't take it very well.   I'm betting she wishes she stayed in Brazil.

We don't know what he's been telling her. Maybe he told her that his parents live in a big house and they'd been invited to stay with them. Or that he had a good paying job lined up. I can see Paul saying, "I can't work in Brazil because of the language issue, but I've been offered a great paying job back in Kentucky. We'll just have to stay in a hotel/with my parents a week or so until we can move into our house..."

I mean, this IS Karine-a woman who's seen all sides of Paul's crazy and still lets him see her naked. I don't think we're talking the sharpest tool in the shed, especially if we take the post partum psychosis issues seriously.

After a relationship ends, it's so easy to think back and acknowledge that one person was not as fully invested as the other person. I feel like Tania doesn't fully love Syngin as much as Syngin loves Tania. This perhaps would not have been or problem if she hadn't made that "soulmate" comment. It would be best - for both of them - to part ways at this point, before children enter the picture. 

Syngin should have received the clue with the "30-day witchcraft trip" Tania took. Who would do that to a person you love who has just arrived from a foreign country? Tania's trip couldn't be postponed or refunded? Gifted to another friend?

The other clue was when she would not answer the phone during said trip. Another clue was when Syngin called and she was busy dancing and drinking during the trip.

I think Tania and Syngin had a pretty vigorous sex life pre-boot that blinded him to her many many faults.  Now that he has to carry her to take a shower that likely waned (or she is lying there like a sack of potatoes) and he is suddenly clear eyed about what a useless nag she is.

Right...these 3 assholes are in cahoots and created this bullshit story line for the TLC paycheck...and TLC took the bait.  Colt's acting skills are even more dismal than his social skills, and Jess and Larissa certainly don't need to worry about writing an awards acceptance speech any time in the foreseeable future, so the horrific acting should tip off viewers that something is rotten in Denmark Brazil. 

What are the odds that Larissa just happened to appear in Jess' "new boyfriend's" video?  Either Colt, Larissa, and Jess put their pointy little heads together and outsmarted TLC to get on this season, or TLC is getting exponentially sloppier in vetting these chucklefucks' shenanigans.  Or both.  Either way, I'm out of patience for these three fraudsters.  Ugh.

If I understand it correctly from reading various sources, she lost custody of all of her kids due to mental health reasons.  Her first two are apparently with their father and the third one is with her father (or could be aunt, as you stated, I'm not positive). 

I've always been of the opinion that she never intended to bring her kids over and, what with her losing custody of all three of them, I'm not sure she would be able to bring them over from Brazil even if she wanted to.  

IMO, those children are probably much better off where they are in Brazil than with Larissa.

Worst Apartment Contest Update

Sumit's:  Inside looks clean, just sparsely furnished.  Outside you can be murdered over ten bucks.  And blood stains on the sidewalk.  Well, tobacco juice according to Sumit, and we can believe him, right?  But it has a security gate.  There is that.

Jihoon's:  Inside is about the size of a walk-in closet.  You can use the toilet and take a shower at the same time, so that is convenient.  It does look clean and fairly modern though, and furnished.  Outside looks like one of those abandoned cities after a nuclear reactor meltdown.

Bini's:  Inside looks like it was furnished from a Goodwill store in the 80's.  I think I saw the bed in an Indian porn movie.  The bathroom needs yellow "Do Not Cross" tape across the doorway.  Hard to judge the outside because it was nighttime and dark, but it gave me the ominous feeling that there might be guerilla fighters lurking in the weeds someplace.

Michael's: Actually a nice little apartment, except for the three foot-long master bed, and the BIG DEAD RAT in the kitchen.

Paul's Apartments: Leave it to Pole to actually find places to live in this country that makes Kreeny's digs in the Amazon look like a luxury condo by comparison.  Technically disqualified as he has not officially rented one of them yet, but an honorable mention.

The winner:  Still Bini's.  Inside and out, it had the most consistent presentation overall.

That was my mother, craft stores, and 50% coupons.  There were times I visited when she had three coupons so my dad and I had to check out with the other two items she chose.  In fairness to her she did donate a lot of what she bought to children's programs.

A few thoughts before reading...

Asuelu has turned into a super duper dirtbag. Wow! Did I hear correctly that they are living with her parents? If they are, there is no doubt that they treat him like an absolute nothing piece of dirt in his own house. He probably has no say in anything and like he said "No one stands with me." Kalani has not always been the nicest to him either so he probably is ganged up on constantly even by his own wife. That does not excuse his behavior but from the time I saw him on this show I never got a vibe that he's a hurtful, angry guy. I don't follow these people at all outside the show so I have no idea if he's working or where they are living or what but wow, what a change in him. Maybe it is pent up anger from being treated like he's worthless every day. 

I cannot stand Kalani's parents. Maybe I'm some kind of strange weirdo but parents do not act like thugs towards their grown children's spouses. You also don't fight their marital spats for them by taking the side of your daughter no matter the circumstances and threatening violence. You also don't create a daily environment of intimidation for your son in law that scares him into not disagreeing with anything his wife says, lest tough guy daddy physically harms him. It's just trash behavior. Kalani's mother in the car should have kept her mouth shut and limited her comments to, "You two need to work this out in private, so knock it off or get out of the car." 

Libby deserves whatever misery life throws at her with Andrei. Since she was on a TV show at one point, their whole thing could be an act but if it isn't and she puts up with his shit, she is a lost cause. In her TH she said something like, "You're American now, get over it." What the heck did that mean? She was the one who was telling her family that she was all in being a doormat and doing what "the man" says. He is going to mooch off her family for life because he has an entitlement mentality and believes that Libby and her family exist to serve him. And they're doing just that. I just don't understand people. 

I don't watch Angela or Pole's segments so yeah.

Syngin needs to go home. He's a party boy and drinks way too much. Not at all ready to be married and settle down with anything other than a Jack Daniel's bottle.

Update: I just recalled Angela was "driving a friend's Lexus" when she was arrested for one of her DUIs a couple of years ago. At the time I remember I had the same reaction to her driving a Lexus. 

further edited to add: Lexus owning friend/drinking buddy is the manager of the Cotton Patch event venue, but not DJ Dougie. She was driving his car to pick him up after he was detained for DUI, but got pulled over where it was determined she was also under the influence.

Two to three.  I swear I wasn't intentionally counting but since the cameras were focused on it, I was, too.  

Maybe he wasn't locked in there by intent.  Maybe the simpleton just couldn't figure out how to open the door and step out.

I know people here dislike Tania (or miss look at me, I'm WOKE), but I dislike Syngin too.  He thought that when he and Tania got married it was going to be all fun, partying, traveling.  But then Tania got into an accident and things suddenly changed.  Syngin can't deal with that, so he's drinking his problems away.

One other thing that I noticed was that during Syngin and Tania's big dinner discussion, the side that his hair was parted on kept changing and it was not due to him brushing it back with his hand (who would do that ever 5 seconds at the dinner table anyway). Overall his hair looked different throughout their conversation. It was like a tennis match: parted on the left, parted on the right, parted on the left, parted on the right...

I find myself just as mesmerized with Asuelu/Kalani as I was with David/Lana. I can’t stop watching because it doesn’t make “logical” sense.  Then I go to the” must be made up” storyline and that doesn’t seem to fit either.

Kalani hooking up with this guy in the first place is weird, then two kids, a marriage and yogurt samples later have turned me into a mouth breather. Gotta say that brief phone chat with Asuelu’s sister guilting him into sending money, did not do the Samwa culture any favors.

Apparently the oxygen is not making it to my brain while I watch these two, but Asuelu’s behavior during the car ride and subsequent birthday party vacay did not seem staged to me.

Could be this lockdown torture, but every time he shows up on screen, I see a big baby with a pacifier wearing diapers.

What was she thinking??

Can you imagine that scene? Mama Paul knows that if she lets Kreeny in, Paul will be climbing through her bedroom window in the middle of the night to get in. It's a good thing mama said no to all of them. Paul is a total manipulator and she will need to evict him to get him out. And she knows it.

Asuelo has cried this week and last week that he's not the man of the house, because they live with Kalani's parents, who won't let him.  But, he does nothing to improve his status - like get a job and support his wife and children, or even stand up for himself or his family.  

Like everyone else, I still don't understand why they made a 5-hour drive to an AirBnB when the parents still seem to own their home there, and the sister still lives there.  It seems that Lo had returned to California before the car ride from hell, and the brother disappeared somewhere in Utah this season.  (After he set up the condoms-are-for-slut-people quote, his work was done.)  Asuelo's circle of Samoan volleyball friends in Utah seemed more engaged than the background family members at that birthday party, who may not have met Kennedy yet.  They could have had a better birthday party at Chuck E Cheese or just about anywhere else, including their parents' home or the park in Utah. 

Kalani talked about the strong women in her family who would not tolerate Asuelo's disrespect - either in this episode or last week's - but none of them really show it.  In the car, Mother Kalani's first response to Asuelo's insult was, "I dare you to say that in front of my husband," and Kalani spent the ride moaning about how difficult her own life was.  All of them live in fear of Lo and wait for him to act.

 I am getting that Angela is treating her mom like she's her mom. She's asking her mom for help making decisions, getting her input, and giving her control on big stuff. Angela asked her if it was okay for her to leave, and she she wants her mom at her wedding, which  shows that she is not defining her mom by her illness. 

My husband was watching, and he said that he was glad his grandma, who recently died, never got to the point of Angela's mom. I was sort of upset with him on that-- people aren't always going to look the same way, you have to love them no matter what. I

Yup, I saw it and wondered if he'd be compensated for it.  I'm not sure what type of agreement TLC has with Progressive, since Progressive uses TLC participants quite a bit.  Your brother may not have a legal leg to stand on since he sold his soul to that devil known as TLC.  😉
