It's fascinating to me, all the small opportunities and tiny ways they find to reinforce rank and status in this group.

This is the literally the mission statement of the DCC. Group Leaders, Abbey Bear, Vet Moves in finals solo, pinky ring, rookie class group, placement in group photo, pink and blue, legacy and “comeback” girls, point, triangle position, showgroup, alumni “helpers” at auditions, the list goes on and on. It is a culture of rank and status.

So many likes on this comment. And at the same time here we are with pages and pages of passionate comments castigating the organization for not opening this golden opportunity equally to members of ethnic and racial minority groups. It's an interesting contrast.

Did I read MavisL post wrong. The post seem negative to me?

Two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions.

That was my point. MavisL pointed out a lot of ways the organization is problematic.  Yet there's anger because they shut the WOC out of it. Maybe the WOC aren't missing out on anything.

I got ya, your point is beautifully articulated and well taken. It even occurred to me, but I figured I'd better stick to one-subject rants being new. Nobody likes a blowhard.

Ha, no no, I think they just meant like, why would anyone want to push for WOC to join this shit show, but it's like when gay marriage was legalized, straight people were going "Congratulations. Come join the misery" LOL.

This old lady needs to take a break. Putting my teeth in a glass now. Goodnight.

Exactly. TPTB saw that and got rid of her. Thankfully, this season they'll have people like Victoria to show us what a good weight is.

(Sorry, you activated my sarcasm mode 😂)

Wait - your sarcasm mode has to be activated?  Mine is always permanently on. I should check the settings to see if I mine has a standby mode.  It would totally shock the people in my life. 😜

Marshall: "ok Diane, I don't know why you feel personally attacked by the fact I support the maturity, and personal/artistic growth in these girls. But I call it like I see it. If you feel differently, you have a right to you're own opinions, but your remarks are becoming quite petty, and beneath the standards of someone who feels they have a right to judge others. Trust me I know, I'm literally a judge. #takeaseat"

I love Marshall 😊

I regret that I have but one "like" to give.

Given his flamboyant personal style, you know Marshall has suffered his fair share of judgemental jackasses. The fact that he responded with such calm, class, and reason makes me like him a lot.

Not enough likes for either of these comments.  You always come in like a breath of fresh sanity.  Thank you for doing do.

Re:  Marshall - I have followed him for awhile now and he's impressed me on several counts.  Out of respect for his privacy since he's made his account private, I won't go into detail.  But considering the person I've learned more about while following, I think he handled that IG interaction well.  Better than most in fact.

Would be crazy if they had the Rookies living in a house together during TC. Now that would be an interesting reality show🤪

MTV did a reality show decades ago called "Sorority Life" where they followed the pledging of so many girls as they tried to make a sorority. It only lasted 2 seasons, but if they did something similar, I guarantee it'd be the most explosive reality show on TV and I would love it.

It would also force Vikkie to move out of mommy's house which would be a good thing.

One of the years the Trevino sisters were on the team with Brooke and I can't remember who else they briefly showed the Vets residence.  I remember the vets having trouble learning a new routine and practicing in the pool.  I always wondered how that went over.

Pretty and fit. Hopefully mature and professional.

Just from my few minutes of scoping her instagram I feel safe saying she is 100% more mature and cultured than the other legacy.

The fact that we had to play FBI to even know she was a legacy puts her 1000% higher, in my eyes, than Vikkie.

I'm curious to see how she performs, too. I went to college in OKC and OCU had a reputation for being one of the top dance schools in the country. I always thought that was weird, as I'd never put a top dance school outside of NYC, LA, etc. I want to see if she lives up to her school's hype. 🙂

I go on vacation for 1 weekend and come back to 20+ pages...y'all are nothing if not prolific! I'm sad for Gabby; I do believe the WW stuff we heard throughout the season. When they did that music video thing she was noticeably fuller---not DCC soft, but big---yes, she trimmed down by calendars but Kek & Jud only allow yo-yoing for people they like...and Kek never liked Gabby.

I'm proud of Amy for stepping away from tap, but Maddie really? Your hip-hop isn't even good. Gina looked strong, Bridget and Cianna were entertaining and Hannah needed a pole. I noticed her facials were all over the place---it was distracting.

So 9 rookies have to go, huh? I'd like to Vikkie as the first tribute...or the last, as long as she's cut I'll be happy. And before someone snarks, I know, I know---it's completely irrational to hate a 19 year old who I've never met before, but I do and I'm sticking to it. Marshall also lost some major cool points---the Kool-Aid is strong with that one. There is nothing she will do or could do to change my opinion because I already know she did nothing substantial in the past year that would warrant me to reconsider. Not that my opinion really matters in the grand scheme of things, but I hope she's cut...again.

So we have 2 legacies and 1 of them we found out at the very last minute...like stealth mode and I'm here for it. I vote we keep Madeline and get rid of Vikkie. There can only be 1 legacy in a rookie class right, Kek?!? Right?!? Speaking of...nothing on Dayton huh? And I see Shelly tagged and no answers...that's mildly alarming.

Lots of new posters this go around---I'm not sure what will provide me with the most entertainment... watching the blood bath that will be TCC or reading the blood bath between posters over the summer? Hmmm, my only hope is that we don't get locked down...again, I get bored when that happens.

It's gonna be one wild ride.

Gotta be honest, I credit most of last season's entertainment to this board, not the show itself.

Posters who took the year off between shows came back and posted they couldn't believe what went on over the summer, cause usually nothing happens.  And even some of the posters who don't like to be spoiled started to read the spoiler threads cause they said it was entertaining.

I’m sure your East Coast play by play prior to our West Coast viewing will be just as entertaining.  I still chuckle over your porno hair pulling comment

OMG!  I do remember getting info from @Loves2Dance posts waiting for the show to start.  But I don't remember the porno hair pulling???

I think this may be her. It won't blow you away, but it was three years ago, which was the summer before her senior year in High School. No doubt she's continued to grow as a dancer.

I'm curious to know what her plan is, should she make the team. I assume she'd have to leave OCU. I wonder if she'd transfer somewhere else or put college on hold. This is kind of a strange move halfway through college.

I wasn't 100% sure it was her, but it's an audition for Encore Creative Productions dance camp she published on 6/2/2016 and she has an insta post 6/15/2016 and it looks like it was taken at that camp.

A year later, she auditioned for and was accepted into the Rockettes Summer Intensive program. I'm not sure how competitive the auditions are, but it sounds impressive.

Totally respect your opinion as you have met her and I haven't.  But just wondering.....

Several have said she is kind, so what happened in that office with Jinelle?  If she was frustrated at the weight gain, feeling pressure, etc was it just misdirected anger?  But I think that whole office scene really didn't help her in the eyes of a lot of viewers, and I wonder what her friends and family thought when they saw it.  And I'm sorry, but she came off as a spoiled, ungrateful brat.

I don’t know. I don’t have inside information on that situation. But I didn’t get the vibe watching the playback that it was mean-spirited. It seemed more like she talked herself into a hole and then didn’t know what to do when she was called out on it, so she didn’t respond. I do think she should’ve been blacklisted for that only bc any other girl would’ve been, BUT I think good people make bad choices all the time and if I was the director... well first we’d have body diversity and two if a girl felt the need to lie bc she felt insecure about her weight we’d have a serious compassionate conversation about her mental well-being. I think it’s so easy to shame VK for that situation, but that’s not my way. I can understand... but what makes my understanding different than KJC is that I give it to everyone, not just my friends. But it isn’t VK’s fault that Tina is friends with Kelli. She had no choice in that lol

As far as Victoria, people actually like her? you can't be serious? 😉

Honestly, she reminds me of a very immature teenager...Oh wait...

I actually think Haley is gorgeous. She has some obvious sun damage on her face, but it’s nothing that laser skin resurfacing couldn’t fix. But even with that she’s still a pretty girl

Look at that. This is what I was looking for: a good dose of glam for the DCC.
Standing in the back but that's just because they are saving it all for the field: Amanda and Ashley! Glamour extravanganza! Runway at Belk, cameo photo shoots: no need, they already own it.

Kelcey, Kelcey, Kelcey, I haven't seen her dancing but she almost (almost) makes met forget Jalyn!

Gina Campagna, Kat, Shaina OMG!

Seeing this rookie class of 2019 makes one wonder why we did even bother with the pastel of past years. All the wallflowers that did make the team. All the girls without presence, power and projection. The girls who couldn't walk in heels, the dancers that danced like girls, the shy girls. The fashion don't's.

We saw the promised land with Kalyssa and now we are finally arriving!

Unpopular opinion: but the looks you guys seem to consider "glam" are kinda blah to me? But I was never a fan of blonde hair on women in general, and typical DCC style and shade of platinum blonde hair in particular. There are exceptions that are so beautiful and blonde fits their coloring and build so perfectly that I'm sold but I'll always love redhead or brunette easier.

So I've lurked around the boards for a long time but I'd never joined to post until now and I'm about to be a very unpopular person I have a feeling.

VK - Someone said this already but I think she causes such a reaction in people because of how they've been treated in the past.  Her behavior, and K&J's last year was frustrating.  Let's see how she behaves this year and not judge her so harshly on her past.  However can we get someone to do her hair? Please?

Gabby - She proved with her response to being cut she's a class act.  All we do know is she was on weight warning a lot last year.  The interview issue that was posted was one vet retired late, which we know was Lauren, and another candidate was late, we now know that was Raven, leaving just the candidate and one other in that interview session.  All we have is speculation from supposed insiders that she had an interview problem.

Diversity - This is what finally made me register so I could post.  Some of the comments here have been absurd, people are taking things to such extremes it's actually gotten comical at some points.  There are a lot of reasons the squad make up has changed, the biggest one being the WHOLE field of applicants has changed and shrunk so bad.  When this started (I've watched this show since it was just a two hour special and followed them before there was a show!) there really were over 1000 applicants coming in for prelims, this year, less than 150.  Look at the candidates too, there's not nearly as diverse of a pool coming in to choose from.  I know early on the DCC had recruiters who went out to get girls for tryouts but I think they rely very heavily on the show now to bring in girls, which is a mistake because it's actually discouraged a lot of girls.  Short of going out and specifically recruiting WOC, which wouldn't be right either, or taking less qualified dancers to increase diversity, I don't see why all this blame is being put on K&J or the DCC organization.  They're working with what they have and doing a good job with it in my opinion.  It feels like we've went so far down the equal rights path with quotas and stuff that now it's almost reverse discrimination.  Yes, I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion but it's my opinion.  Take a good hard look at the squad photos from the past, many, many years there's only 1 or 2 WOC, yeah there were years where there were more and good for them but does that then make a certain number a requirement?  No.  The show has been good and bad for diversity.  Like one lady said she looked up to the WOC on the show and that was good but it's also raised the bar of talent and cut down the number of girls trying out.  Less of every color and ethnicity trying out.  Texas has always had a thing for blondes and probably always will and they've by far made up the majority of the squads over the years.  That doesn't mean there's discrimination going on or a purposeful lack of diversity.  No one outright just said it but it's been implied in several posts, which I think is a shame.

https://www.dallascowboys.com/cheerleaders/squad-photos

And before you say "Well they took (insert name here) and she's a weak, white dancer, they could have taken (whoever) who is a weak WOC dancer! Why didn't they take the WOC?"

Unless you are a judge and at auditions you've got no idea why they took who they took and there is probably a VERY legitimate reason that is NOT based on their ethnicity!  It's only your opinion who the weaker candidate it from tiny snippets of things we see on the web.  You're not privy to everything they did or their interview or they're resume or anything else.  With very few exceptions everything here is a guess at what happened or what's going on and based on the opinions of the little that's seen.

And since it's been brought up, yes, I'm a male, and no, I'm not a racist, I'm a MOC.

Can I like this a thousand times?? Very well said!

Which returning TCCs from last year who got cut did NOT get invited to training camp this year? Was Gabi the only returning vet let go?

Yep, Gabby was only vet cut.

Kristin, VK, and Lily were invited back to training camp.

Malena, Taylor T, and Jasmin were TCCs last year that weren’t invited back.
