I know many find Kitty entertaining and enjoy her critiques. I like someone who gives an honest opinion on the routines, but have always found Kitty to be unnecessarily rude, harsh and coarse. While I wish she'd just give a constructive critique in a professional manner, I long ago realized that just isn't Kitty! 😄

Milan talked about (unnamed but I'm sure it was Kitty) being a complete b about her not trying out for showgroup, really pressuring her, saying plenty do school and showgroup to the point she was crying and guilt ridden.  Editing made it look more like they just didn't know and "of course school is important"   I guess Kitty is a b because she wants to be.

Like I said upthread, there’s a place for Maddie and her approachable, NappyTabs style of dance, but hip hop doesn’t need to be watered down for DCC. Curious how Gina would do, for example, or Holly (outside of that one SG routine.) I always loved watching the lyrical dancers stretch into other genres on SYTYCD, and when the hip hop dancers would do the same. So many gifted dancers out there that can really do it all.

I thought Milan sounded like an entitled spoiled brat on her podcast. Whiny bc it was a rude awaking and first time she hadn’t been the rock star pet and she couldn’t handle it. She made fun of ‘old’ dancers which made her sound immature and bratty bc those old dancers were like 24? Also acted like they begged her for shoe group which did not happen just questioned why she didn’t want it bc they made everybody try out. Milan was bottom rung on talent looks and fitness and could not process being out performed. 

Also he whole ‘oh poor me I can’t take my 18 year old self to get hammered with my Sisters bc I am forced to perform for the cowboys whahhh whahhh’ made me want to slap her. Ungrateful and immature.

When I rewatched this episode, I did not see any "next time" scenes where Kitty was featured. All of those who were shown consisted of choreographers, etc. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. At least we only got a glance of TK.....not another shot of her and Icky Vicky air guitaring and screaming in a car. I would have tossed my cookies if that happened again.

So all these dance teams getting cut... It's a man's world where if women complain about being sexually harassed they just get rid of the women, instead of fixing the problem. Like not using trained dancers as paid escorts off the field. Or banning fans who misbehave. Or stop making them dance in bikinis. Or eliminating overly suggestive choreography. Nope, let's cleanse our wholesome teams of manly sportsmen of these temptresses. Problem solved!

There were so many "typical" phrases at the show opening, like "I have worked for this my entire life!", "This is every little girl's dream!" (Not mine, honey...I wanted to be an astronaut.) "Over 400 candidates are auditioning this year." "There is lots of competition." And....my favorite? "I need to bring my A game."😵

Anybody that attempts to do a DCC drinking game should think twice about it unless they want a one way ticket to the morgue.

Ohhhhh, I’m just sick about Gabby. She has less belly than Maddie and actually offered some diversity to the squad AND was a locker room favorite. They normally would give a vet like that a little time, especially since she looked so great at swimsuit. IIRC, she was on weight warning most of last year, so maybe it was just the final straw. Sigh. 

Love Charm tho, one of my favorite things about the episode.

I have finally gotten caught up on this season and definitley have some thoughts.

I am over Kat.  I think she's obnoxious, and definitely needs to come down a few rungs.  Her solo looked like something I could do, her kicks are low and her ego is high.  Next please!

VK is 1000 times better this year than last.  She did well with the choreography, had a pretty solo, her kicks are lovely and she appears to be much more humble and mature than last year.  I don't know how much of that is editing, but if what we're seeing is the real deal, she should make it.  I think she did learn from last year.  Her answer in panel about cutting Charlotte was gold.  I may grow to like her this year.

I'm also happy for Lily.  She got a rough deal last year, and I cannot imagine the stress this year.  I didn't think her expressions while waiting to be called to TC were anything but raw emotion/stress.

While I felt bad for Gabby, she was (by DCC standards) out of shape.  Each year, at least one vet comes back less than 100% and is cut.  This was her turn.  There are plenty of other girls who will fill her spot minus the jiggle.

I still like Maddie.  Yes, her solo hasn't changed, but it's entertaining.  Maybe not hard-core hip hop, but for the audience she's playing to (DCC judges) it gets the job done.  She knows they love it, so she's smart to do it again.  I think her enthusiasm for being a DCC seems to be contagious and assume she's a strong leader.  She is a strong contender for point.  

I am extremely happy Malena did not make it back.  She was a Hot Mess this year - worse than last year.  Her costume was awful, she was beyond lacking with their choreo, her solo wasn't anything special and she looked like she hadn't ever done a kickline in her life.  If she was going to come back, she needed to come back better - she went the wrong way.  

I haven't really formed any opinions on the rookie candidates yet.  There's a lot of pretty, good dancing girls.  Lots of white girls it looked like, too.

Ah, that's an unfortunate situation for Milan. That's a lot of pressure to deal with, especially for one so young. Often they don't now how to deal with it. 

And yeah, Kitty is who she is. She's found what works for her and goes with it, no apologies or regrets, I'm sure. And while she must be a good teacher, for the girls to go to her, I can't help feeling she'd been even more successful if her manner wasn't so volatile. But then, she doesn't seem to be wanting for clients, so...

I did like how she could list 4 girls to cut after getting them to traverse the dance floor, and how she could draw out power and punch from other dancers. I'll give her that.

That's the only reason I liked her. I just watched s12ep5 where she has a Spicy Night. You could've cut Erin, Brianna and Madeline M straight away after that. Miranda was a good surprise and Brennan looked strong. I know they want to give them a chance but if you're on week 2/3 and someone has no power and keeps forgetting every dance, they need to get rid of them straight away!

That is very true.  I bet she would be able to name a team before the 4th of July.  She's not exactly my cup of tea, but it seems like her students love her.

Kitty is awesome.  Sometimes she’s mean, but she’s one of my favorite parts of the show and has been for years.  I will be very disappointed if they don’t bring her back.  So we really want sugar coated mentoring and vague ambiguous critiques as our only feedback on these girls?  Where’s the fun in that?

a thousand likes for this post.  I was so annoyed at her podcast.  I thought she sounded like a millennial snowflake who was shocked she would ever be criticized and not seen as the rock star she is in her head.  I thought Milan was cute on her best day but not a DCC look at all.  Her complaints on the pyramid were ludicrous because only one of the new class was ahead of her which was Gina.  I give Milan kudos for her GPA at a tough school but that's about it. Melissa Wallace went there with a tougher major and that was a girl who could dance circles around Milan.   I went back and watched posts of Milan dancing and she was not one of the best.  Milan thought she should have been closer up near the triangle because she was one of the best dancers.........oh please.  

Her whining about you should not email Kelli or Judy.  Most corporations you do not jump to the top.  Protocol should be she first talk to her group leaders.  

She quit because they did not see her the way she saw herself.  Quitting in the middle of a contract is not a good character trait.

Yes! You absolutely can make cuts after across the floor and pick a great team by the 4th of July. Forexample, here is the Rockettes audition schedule:

Monday, August 12 at 10:00am – Rockettes Open Call
Tuesday, August 13 at 10:00am – Rockettes Callbacks

Boom, done. A legit "world class" dance team chosen in two days. If I ran this circus, I would pick the team in a weekend and spend the summer rehearsing. No cameras.

When women are tougher than usual on other women it's because they are jealous. I'm sure Brenda wishes she was a DCC and takes it out on the girls during the interview process.

I'm still not over what she did to Kat a few season ago. So, it's ok for Kat to have her boobs and butt falling out of her uniform for all the world to see, but God forbid she wears a dress with cutouts on the sides.

Thank you. I tuned into season six. I miss the older seasons when the girls did their makeup to accentuate their features, not to look like another person.

IKR! And even some of the dresses that have come through since then, SMH.  I mean it isn't business casual.  It is business casual with cocktail hour accents.  Business color and cut but way too short and too low for any office.  And Brenda, maybe she did want a DCC.  I actually get the impression she is somehow trying to ride the Jones family gravy train.  Crying over VKs solo, indeed.  That was such put on BS.  You're not a dancer, she's not your daughter....you just wanted to get on CJA's good side.  That's a sick way to go through life.

I get what you're saying about the jealousy, but there could also be an element of competition (We're up for the same job and I want to "win" by beating her out) or the other person could have done something underhanded/nasty/rude/etc. so the first woman is tougher on her than others for that reason, it could be because someone has a gut feeling that something is just not right about another person or any number of things. 

I dislike the fallback of "just jealous" because it has become a cop-out, the easy way to discount another woman's reason for not liking someone, for being tougher on another woman, for having an opinion that doesn't mesh well with another person, for having legitimate, tangible reasons WHY they don't like someone, or anything else (including jealousy).  I've been told "Stop being so jealous of so-and-so" when I'm not jealous, I just have an opinion (informed or otherwise) that the other person doesn't like or doesn't want to acknowledge.

Does any of that make sense?

I don’t think Brenda is jealous of some of twenty-something year old dancers. think she’s just not very nice, and she knows where her bread is buttered. With that said, her question to Christina was not hard IMO, nor were her questions to Kelsey or Taylor last year. She was out of line with Kat though. I thought that was ridiculous.

Interesting to see difference in the early series vs now.  I like how now they will show 3 dancers at once side-by-side. But I like to hear Judy yelling out "noodly" "lines" etc to the girls (early series).  I guess Kelli talking into her recorder allows all the girls to get practice notes now, but the old shout out in front of everyone and big pink post it notes on the wall was direct, raw, and harsh reality.  It also seemed like more happened in 1 episode early seasons. Maybe fewer episodes in a season?  But new hairdresser vs. Reiner.  I loved Reiner Euro snark but new guy has it.  (Terrible with names)

"New Guy" is Marshall. I guess it is better to at least get some form of practice feedback, but I agree with you on the more immediate feedback. (I did high school dance and cheerleading, but was never as trained/talented as these gals.) I was (and still am) a competitive equestrian and immediate feedback in my lessons allows me to fix the issue then and there so the correct form is retained in my muscle memory.

Ok, so I'm not a fan of VK but I need to say she looks a lot leaner this time around (hopefully she stays that way).   Looks wise I think she looks the part (way more than Judy's daughter ever did)

BUT

You can definitely tell she's been given tips on how to play on screen.   All the high fiving and trying to look like she is being supportive of the other girls.   You can see on their faces that they know it's fake but it's meant to play out as good PR for VK

I agree. I also find it laughable that any 40+ accomplished career woman would be jealous of some 20+ plus DCC. I understand envying youth, but what else is there truly to be jealous? And of Kat, of all people? 

Disclaimer: I like Brenda. I think she approaches these interviews like a professional and expects the girls to respond and act accordingly. But this isn’t a corporate job or setting, so that’s why she might seem hard on the girls.

There's something to be said about being upbeat and bubbly in an interview, especially when you're interviewing to be a cheerleader!  They want to see your charm and grace in a tough situation.  Malena was handling hers like she was in a disciplinary meeting showing progress on an improvement plan.  If she had answered back with a bright smile, chuckled that her cut was humbling to watch and in hindsight she wished she hadn't let her emotions get the best of her after a tough summer, etc....I think she would have fared much better.  Coming in so serious when their last memory of her was a total meltdown wasn't the best way to play that hand.

The judges throw some nutso questions out there, but if the candidate handles it with a smile and charm, they'll be fine.  It's when they go into super serious mode that they get into trouble.  I was actually shocked at Christina's terrible performance, because I felt like one of the reasons they kept her was performance during podcasts and how she's usually more articulate.  If she had repeated back the question with a bright smile, it would have given her a second to gather her thoughts and come back with a better response.

Hi, new member on here - binged watched the last few seasons this past week! i used to watch the earlier seasons but in the UK its not an easy show to keep track of!

Kat was great then ok... then what?

its a shame about Gabby but my thoughts when they cut a vet is that maybe they werent happy with her through the previous season? I'm sure as the season progresses they have girls who they like and who they grow to dislike? 

VK as better as she is from last season i still do think there's alot of better girls up there. the bias towards her is so clear. VK definitely has had some PR training. she's more on the ball during her solo talking segments

malena was poor compared to last season and i dont think that final meeting helped her.

Thanks to pluto tv I have been watching some of the earlier seasons as well.  Was watching season 12 last night and there was a LOT of Kitty in it.

I couldn't help but notice how much more professional she was in it than I remembered from last year.   She really WAS acting as a technical coach, picking up things that were important.   She was direct but not as rude as I considered her last year. 

I don't know if it was because of VK or what but she came off as horrible last year but she was  what I would expect from a technical coach in Season 12.

Sorry I’m behind.  I hadn’t watched the show in ages. Then got Pluto ( for an entirely different show ) landed on it and have been binging for 2 weeks now !  So I broke down and bought prelims and finals episodes. My thoughts:  Kat is cute, but very annoying and always on 10.  Bring it down please.     2: if you don’t know who jerry Jones is, maybe at least tell Charlotte “your dad”?   Maybe it would slide by ?
