I wonder how Sunny would react if her husband gushed over some beautiful actress like she is doing with Idris?

Come to think of it, if ANY man acted that way towards a beautiful actress he would be hung out to dry, lose his career and probably have to defend himself in civil court.

Not really.  See any male talk show interview of Sofia Vagara or Halle Berry, or Scarlett Johannson.

Thank God Whoopie's daughter got another day off from work to be in the audience.  Oh!  Wait!

Makes me wonder if something is going on with Whoopi or with the show, that has her daughter there to perhaps watch over her mom.   Whoopi's been doing this show for 10 years and she lives with or near or mother,  So for her to be in the audience now?.... There's probably a reason.

Am I not hearing things or did Meghan not say a word during the second segment about Baltimore?

She did not.   However, she did have plenty to say about a Russian protester who was poisoned.  The fact that she made a point of saying this story is not getting enough publicity, while saying nothing about the attacks on Rep. Cummings and the entire city of Baltimore, does not sit right with me.

That’s because he was a pallbearer at her fathers funeral she said she was gutted yesterday so I had to find out who he was.

Agreed. Whoopi’s legacy is something to be respected but she clearly does not want to be on this show anymore, and has pretty much said as much as without actually saying it. IIRC when she took this job it was around the time she was blacklisted because of saying negative things about Bush Jr? So the jobs and endorsements were drying up, and Barbara Walters gave her one. But the show isn’t what is what it was she needs to go, either retire and focus on her cannabis and clothing businesses, doing standup and maybe making a TV/Movie appearance once and a while. They need to revamp the show all together. I say Joy as moderator, or Sunny if Joy wants to retire. We can keep Abby if she decides to come back after leave, because she can actually separate politics from the rest of life, or Tara Setamayer. Get rid of Nutmeg, keep Ana on Fridays, and for God sakes throw a Progressive on the panel regularly if not permanently (like Ana Kasparian from TYT).

I caught that. Every story I’ve heard is that Whoopi’s Mother basically raised Alex while Whoopi pursued her career and dealt with all of her other issues. Which is fine honestly...be grateful that your child is in the care of someone who loves and nurtured them while you sort yourself out. But let’s not pretend Alex was attached to her hip while she went on auditions and whatnot. I’ve known a lot of women like that...absentee during the formative years for whatever reason, and when the child is older and thriving, the take all the credit without acknowledging the massive amount of help they had along the way and proclaiming they did it all on their own. It’s also probably the reason why Whoopi pushes (pushed?) Alex so hard to be “something” and why she financially supports their entire family...because of guilt of not being there in the early years. And that’s probably why she’s so reluctant to give up this View paycheck.

This exactly.

I do get tired of people who would have no trouble paying expensive medical bills irregardless of their insurance coverage saying that a public option or medicare for all is too extreme.  As long as their health care needs are taken care of they don't seem to care about everyone else.

Oh, please.  Meghan's always saying "socialist, socialist, socialist" when Democrats and their policies are mentioned on the show.  Maybe not, like she said, when Biden and Gabbard are discussed, but for the other 95% of the time, that's all she talks about.

Wow, Whoopie got loud right before the commercial break.

Joy did this is when one of the candidates was on a couple weeks ago.  She said she liked her private insurance. OK good for you but what about me? My employer is a small business and doesn't offer insurance so I have to buy it through the ACA and let me tell you that first A doesn't mean affordable for me.  Any new plan whether it is a public option or Medicare for all will have no affect on those women siting at that table.

Can Whoops PLEASE stop referring to Andrew Yang as "(this) kid"??? He is an adult Male.

Yes, really.  He is over 40, he is not a child.  While she says positive things about him, Whoopi is being disrespectful by calling him a 'kid'.  Its the same as calling female candidates 'girl', it whittles away at their credibility.

No kidding!  how much you pay for ACA health care depends on your age.   I am very healthy for my age, take no meds, yet pay over $900/month for an HMO plan with the ACA.

What a horrible show today. I tuned out at the halfway mark; I couldn’t make it through this morning. Any show where Whoopi and McCain are doing the majority of the talking is a bad show. Just sayin’. They are easily the stupidest ones there. Apparently what Buttigieg said at the debate—best line of the night—hit a little too close to home for Rich Bitch McCain. Hit dogs will holler.

I’m with Sunny in hoping for that Harris v. Biden rematch.

She criticized him after last month's debate, too.  I can't remember the reason, but it was something I didn't hear from anyone else (and I spend a lot of time watching political coverage on MSNBC and CNN and reading political blogs).  I wonder why she's threatened by him.

She's threatened by any of the moderates that could steal the nom out from under Biden. Buttigieg and O'Rourke especially were threatening early on to her--she was practically obsessed with them on this show a few months ago--because they fill that same "safe white guy" lane Biden is trying to pave for himself, only they're younger and fresher. Once those two are out of the way, Kamala will get the brunt of the criticism as the only remaining moderate threat to Biden. McCain's regularly been referring to their exchange at the last debate as "an attack" on her poor, ol' Uncle Joe. LOL Cry me a river.

This has been a miserable week on The View - I think they're just biding their time before vacation.  Maybe MM is quiet because she's in negotiations?  I tuned out after the first segments on Monday and Tuesday and from what I'm reading here, I'll be doing the same today.

Today, NutMeg said it "permeates" to the surface. 😕

Whoopi's garbled explanation of Andrew Yang's proposal re Basic Income for all is doing the concept a disservice.  She is focussed on the source of the funds rather than the rationale for Basic Income.  She should just stop talking.  And, when the other hosts switched from the dumb hotel topic to a better topic, that of the need for housekeeping staff to be tipped more because they work harder and are paid less than bell staff...Whoopi threw her head back in some kind of protest.  Is she suggesting that it is a dumb idea, or that she doesn't care?  If she is so concerned for people who do not make enough money, housekeeping staff definitely fit in that category. 😕

1 hour ago, Haleth said:

Ha!  Meggie, you do paint all Dems as socialists!  What are you talking about?

That was an unbelievable moment, especially since both Joy and Sunny have said the same thing about the Repubs creating that talking point.  But they said nothing in response.

Judging by the lack of traffic on this once very active forum, I'd say that goes for most viewers, too.  Speaking for myself, I need a vacation away from this shit show just as much as they do.  And for the first time since it aired, I wouldn't even care if the show got canned before September.  The gloomy I-don't-want-to-here attitudes that most of them are sporting right now can be mirrored right back to them by the very viewers who tune in.    Thanks for the misery, gals!  Maybe Whoopi can find something that gives her some happiness and joy while she's away.  Enjoy your entire month off!

I caught a small portion of today's show, when they were discussing the missing young lady from Baltimore. Whoopi's whole demeanor and her difficulty trying to find the correct words during the conversation has me wondering....does she have pre-dementia or just sever memory loss?  Either one, this is a shame, for Whoopi was once such a vibrant, talented artist. Or maybe she's so sick and tired of doing The View (she said that in the NY times recently) that she just doesn't care anymore.

She hasn't cared about doing this show for YEARS. She told Colbert why she didn't leave at the end of the 2017 season. For all that she annoys the ever livin' crap out of me, I will take her blathering, nonsensical word salady rambling, over Her Twatness. Because Whoopi, at least, isn't a vile, hateful, bigoted, narcissistic ASSHOLE like Her Twatness is. Yes, she's entitled and arrogant.

She's just in the wrong job.  She's probably still a good actress and capable of handling a terrific one-woman show.  She's just not a nice person--doesn't share or play well with others.  She claims to need the money; she needs to find other work.

I agree! Sometimes I've seen Whoopi make a lot of sense during different topic discussions. Today, though, she seemed to be struggling with her words and responses. MM needs to go. There is nothing, I mean nothing, about her that is courteous, intelligent, or willing to listen to another's  point of view. If she's still on in the new season, they should rename the show "Meghan McCain's View" and forget about having any other ladies at the table.

Veterans matter so much more to her.  Ironic that she herself never served.

...and I LOVE this point, especially because I remember when she was asked why she hadn't joined the military and she said she was too old.  She was NOT too old at the time she said it or for the previous decade-plus.  I can't name one female who would have had an easier time getting an appointment to the Naval Academy.

When NutMeg was on This Week on Sunday, she flubbed and said that Zucker was being fined $50 million, and her co-panellists and George S. laughed at her and said he is being fined $50 Billion.  I looked it up at the time, and it is actually $5 Billion.  So they were all wrong.  But even though NutMeg was ridiculed, she didn't take the time to find out and today she said he is being fined $50 Billion.  And she is being paid almost a million dollars for not knowing something that I found in five seconds.

Here's an article on her admonishment of Mayor Pete.

If Whoopi hangs around long enough for the taping of Fri’s show, will she tell DeBlasio to his face to get out of the pres race?  I mean after she complains about bike lanes. Wait, don’t they usually tape on Wed if the Fri show is prerecorded?  Think she stuck around for an extra hour?

I am older than Whoopi so, yes, I have MANY of those forgetful  moments. That's why I was wondering if she is having neurological problems. I hope not. For those of you who are big fans of Whoopi, I highly recommend renting the movie "Soapdish".  Whoopi and Sally Field are hilarious in this spoof of soap operas. I mean, it's sooooooo funny, and Whoopi is terrific, as is the whole cast. Really, if you need a good laugh, rent this film....especially if you are, or ever have, been a soap opera fan.

I  appreciate what you guys are saying about Whoopi and her major health problems this year, but here's the thing, she's been this way for years.  And lucky for her, Bob Iger really loves her and she is able to keep a job that she is both miserable and incompetent at.  I know I sound really heartless and I totally am not, I actually feel sorry for the woman at this point.  Because she clearly does not want to be there anymore but financially must have to be, which is also entirely sad, because you would have hoped that a woman with such a long and storied career in the industry would have had some money to fall back on at this point in life.

And once again, to quote the article, where she says,"...so please don't put in my mouth that I'm going to paint all Democrats as socialists." Meghan equates someone, in this case Buttigieg, saying "Republicans" with them talking about her.

Even with the other panelists repeatedly telling her that she isn't usually the one being referenced when someone mentions Republicans, she just can't get that through her thick skull -- she thinks she is the be all and end all, so everything must be about her.

Joy actually prepares to moderate.  It is clear Whoopi doesn't rehearse reading what is on the teleprompter.  I have worked with teleprompters and also coached others to use them, and no matter how adept you are, you have to rehearse.  I think Whoopi gets briefed on the topics but doesn't bother to rehearse and then she blames her flubs on her dyslexia.

Joy also doesn't dominate when she moderates.  She reminds me more of Meredith, although no on can match Meredith.

I agree that Joy is a better moderator than Whoopi, but she's just as bad as her at smoothly transitioning into a commercial break. You'd think someone would be able to give them some pointers.
