S09.E17: A Double Shot Of Brandi

I remember being a teenager and that’s what Rinna’s daughters were being at that dinner.  While they are both working, one of them is only 17.  I can’t remember all the times I told my parents I wasn’t hungry after they’d prepared a big meal.  They may have food issues but it’s also pretty typical behavior.

Dorit, and how interesting the baggy jeans were with the boots and the top and...everything just worked.

I think the CHA NEL earrings and the mesh top with the 80s headband are for fun too.  I get the feeling she's winking at us.

I'm no Dorit fan, but I was envious of how amazing I thought she looked in those baggy, high-waisted jeans and the white tank and black boots.  I'd look most ridiculous in that, but she pulled it off so casually and effortlessly.

And I love the CHA NEL earrings and her headbands.  She has such a cute body that I think she looks great in anything.

Can't stand her fake accent, but I adore watching her with her kids, particularly Jagger.  He stole my heart last night.

They're just generally rude.  If they don't want to eat, why don't they just go back into the house.  I would not enjoy my meal if I had to sit across from those sour faces.  I do feel bad about  their daughter having an eating disorder, so I'm not slamming her for that, but she could at least show some respect for her Dad.  When my son was going through his teenage years, I told him straight up that he was allowed his occasional bad moods, but that I would not be disrespected.  Granted, he was & still is a really sweet young man, so his teenage years weren't bad, but there was the occasional bad mood due to whatever was going on at school.  The ground rules were set in advance so that we had a mutual understanding of how to handle trying situations.   I have no tolerance for Rinna in allowing her girls to act so rudely.  As a parent, she can stop that behavior.

I originally fast forwarded most of the show, but went back to see this particular scene after reading the comments here.  Harry seemed kind of checked out of everything going on around him.  He could be a typical male and not really know how to deal with the issues his daughter faces, so he just went about his business and cooked dinner.  Most interactions I've seen over the years in the Hamlin household have been Lisa and her daughters. I haven't been too impressed with what I've seen in that regard.  From that dinner scene though, it surely looks like they've got some major issues they need to work out as a family.

Maybe this goes in the Unpopular Opinions thread, but I have to confess:  I'm kind of a bitch to Dorit's fashion at this point.  Not the Beverly Beach rubbish--that looks basic as hell--but the way Dorit does her own particular style.  When she was doing the photo shoot, I wasn't looking at the models; I was looking at Dorit, and how interesting the baggy jeans were with the boots and the top and...everything just worked.

I've never, ever been into trends.  I don't think you particularly have good fashion sense if you're wearing something that just came off the Moschimo runway (ahem, Erika).  Stuff off the runway can be brilliant, but it's not automatically brilliant.   I think fashion has to be interesting and just has to flow.  There is this really good documentary called Advanced Style about women in their 70s (and 80s!) who are total fashion mavens, and they don't do the trends.  They do the opposite--sometimes cultivating an outfit for decades.  That's much cooler to me.

I don't even mind when Dorit has the overinflated breasts out on display...I mean, she paid for them (well, I guess that's debatable).  But I think it's fun for them to be out (every now and again) in an unabashed way.  If I have to see raging cleavage (which, apparently as a viewer of this show, I do),  I'd much rather see big, bountiful things than things that are sagging down to someone's knees (not naming names).

I think the CHA NEL earrings and the mesh top with the 80s headband are for fun too.  I get the feeling she's winking at us.

Full disclosure:  I would have hated Dorit's fashion shoot outfit on Bethenny Frankel.  Dorit, for all her flaws, is carefree (oblivious?) enough to pull it off.  On Bethenny, with her severe personality, it would have looked like a costume.

Can’t stand her, but loved everything she wore last night and her wig at lunch was great. I can do without the CHA NEL look, tho. What I don’t like are the screaming labels ALLLLLLLL the time. The Balenciaga top was cute, it was also probably 600+ bucks!

I remember another thing from the episode, the camera panned and zoomed in on Camille’s home. They focused on a beautiful glass piece that I think is (was😢) a Chihuly from the set of Frazier. I recognized the shape right away, although Camille’s might be bigger than the set piece.

I imagine she lost that Chihuly and the baby grand piano in the fire.

I doubt Camille’s rendition of Teddi’s snub of Mason, just because that really doesn’t sound like Teddi (and I’m no Teddi fan) and because Camille took a comment by Kyle in season one so wrong. She hears what she think she hears and  takes offense from her skewed interpretations.

Camille herself said Mason was unhappy the whole day. Maybe Teddi just gave her the space she thought Mason wanted.

Yeah, I would be interested to hear that story from Teddi's perspective.  I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other about Teddi but it seems unlikely to me that she would directly snub Mason.

Let's just gather around with flowers and candles and say our respectful farewells while some Bravo exec pulls the plug. There is not a damn woman left on this show who is worth watching. Please let them just fade off into the Beverly Hills sunset.

Good Night, Kyle,

Good Night, Dorit,

Good Night Teddi,

Good Night, Erikas,

Good Night Rinna.

🤡

ITA. I am saying farewell to all these bitches as of now. I've watched this since the beginning and there have been plenty of women whose scenes I would ff. Now there is no one I'm in anyway interested in watching. This board is way more entertaining than the show, so I'll just check in here for the snark..

I miss LVP and hope she gets her own show and her ratings kick this bunch to the curb.

I wonder what they'll have to talk about on the reunion without LVP there to bash. They'll probably just pile on her anyway. Will be interesting to see how long this mess lasts without her.

These girls are such delicate little flowers.  One makes a comment that there is something strange about another one and says "she makes the hairs stand up on my neck".  The others gasp and runs to tell the others and we have hours of that nonsense.  They all fall apart over the smallest things.

The New York girls call each other slut, snake, drunkard, delusional, sociopathic and worse, then they go out to eat, bitch a bit about it, and move on to the next issues.

If LVP did encourage Brandi to bring the tabloids about Kyle on their trip, so what?  LVP knows how to make good television and Kyle could have laughed it off and it would have been no big deal.  Such flowers...lol

Another thing, since I'm comparing franchises, Rinna has rats in her house and it was hardly mentioned.  Kim Z and her daughter told everyone about Nene's roaches and it became a big story, all over social media.  It was debated if Nene was dirty and lived in a filthy home.  It just bugs me I guess.  The Beverly Hills ladies are treated better IMO.

You'd think that as you get older you would nip this kind of behavior in the blood. I am a high school teacher, and my students have much more decorum when dealing with someone who said something mean about her or a friend. They're much more mature than these women. And I'm talking about teenage girls here. They usually go right to the source, ask if they said it and if so why, and end up talking about who hurt who and why, and usually end up hugging it out. They don't hold grudges like these women do, and are always willing to give someone a second chance.

Ummm...because they are spoiled brat bitches?  They've shown that time and time again, starting with the chub-chub comment they made when they visited Rinna's hometown.

I have no use for either of them.

I haven't seen this level of disrespectul behavior from a child to a parent since Ashley/Jacqueline on RHONJ, and that was some pretty nasty crap.  In all fairness, though, that was such a toxic relationship on both the mother's and daughter's side, so who knows the level of toxicity in the Hamlin/Rinna household that we are not seeing on screen.

Agreed.

I was also disturbed by the Hamlin/Rinna girls' behavior in their family back yard barbecue scene - and Amelia giving her father the middle finger behind his back on camera. Just awful. I found it painfully disrespectful to their father.

Trying to diagnose them:  Teens can be brats - and indeed these girls are. And Hamlin and Rinna have a long term marriage - in Hollywood. So somethings are right there. We have seen scenes where they are a seemingly healthy close family. I like that they are still in their longtime home - that seems homey. Hamlin and Rinna work hard for their family and make no bones about it. Unlike Dorit and PK who make $$$ , on what ? Boy George's career ? and lease cars and rent ? an oversize uneccessary gaudy house. That situation just reeks of temporary and debt.

As said earlier, the Hamlin girls should NOT be on camera. They need to persue other healthy non-Hollywood glam goals. And Amelia needs ot be in therapy (respectfully, if she is not already).

And then there is Lisa Rinna herself. I don't find her terrible. Just that she needs something ....I dont know what it is. Stop being a "galpal" to her daughters. And figure out just why she does that ?

I have tried watching this episode a few times, and just can't pay attention.  My mind wanders, I thinknof something to look at on my phone.  Just gave up again.

Dorit:  I honestly don't even hear/tune out everytime she is talking with her idiot fake accent.  Oh, she "picked up abroad?"  That was fast.  How long has she been here in her her home country now?

Erika:  I couldn't have bonkers berzerk billions of dollars and just blow my husband's hard-earned money.  Well maybe a wee bit, but I would do it privately.  How does she have paid staff of 3 or w/e and look so tacky and dated?  And sad think is, she is actually a lovely woman without all that crap.

Kyle:  Dream vacation to Provence?  Would have been nice to have LVPs input as she knows the country well.

Rinna:  No clue I could hate her daughters more.  Flip off your dad and ruin dinner?  "Oh, poor thing with her disorder."  Might be me (but doubt it), I need caption when those two mush-mouth daughters speak.

Harry annoyed me for the first time.  Maybe those brats had me on edge.  He is intelligent but his family rubbed off on him.  "There's no flies."  Come on, your grammar knows better.

But mostly annoyed that Harry could marry Rinna and produce those awful children.

Just nothing to see here, at least in this episode.  Hanging onto hope for the trip.

This was my thought too! Say what you want about LVP but she is a wealth of information on France, entertaining, dining. Back in the TWOP days a poster went to Villa Blanca and met her. She mentioned an upcoming vacation to the south of France and LVP wrote down a list of places to visit, the recommendations turned out to be wonderful.

Kyle's dogs made this whole episode.  Barking when they knew she was on the phone like my kids when I have to schedule an appt.  I hide and they still find me and are so distracting.

There is too much Camille this season without her being a cast member.  Even if you have money and other homes I still feel terrible for anyone that lost a home. That is a personal space with treasured items in it.

Ugh enough with Rinna's daughters. Amelia is just not that pretty TBH. I think we've mentioned that before. There is something about this eating disorder scenario that I find odd. Just the way it came on and is portrayed. I find Rinna's mothers story more "inpirational".  We have known Lois for years and just found out about this.  It's like Rinna needs this as a storyline.  Amelia is out there bringing her personal story to the surface to help other girls.....Amelia is in pain and I'll do what it takes to help her......I just hate it when they do this shit because it makes a genuine disorder into a commercial.  Plus she is a fucking brat.

These women and the talking behind each others backs WHILE THE CAMERAS ARE THERE.  Rinna....I won't tell anyone.....but you can see it in 7 months when it airs.  Camille trashing everyone.......this constant repitition each season and I still watch.  Who knows why. There are no true friendships here.  They know it will all be shown for the world to see and they are okay with it as it is happening.

Haha with next episode! Now that we know the "hotel staff" are really paid by the show as "assistants." I sort of think Ericka started this with the glam squad. Then all the ladies wanted to have professional hair/makeup. I do think it's one thing that Bravo might now pay for.

I didn't know that.  Thank you.

I really hoped for the trip to finally be a good episode of this show, just for the location.

I now really hope for the staff to be entertaining and Bravo to strike gold similar to Below Deck with a show about a peek into the life in the Hospitality world.  If it is a full-service, luxury hotel (I guess it would have to be a boutique hotel as Four Seasons would never allow this), then some scenes in the restaurant kitchen and demanding guest would be perfect.

I am pretty sure I am done with this show after the trip episodes.  There isn't even any house porn anymore.  The only thing I will miss are Kyle's dogs.

A million likes, and proof that common sense does not reside in the Rinna-Hamlin house. Lisa is afraid she may hae contributed to the anorexia? Ya think?!!!!

1. Rinna refuses to eat and is emaciated.

2. The daughters called average sized/normal Oregonians "chub chubs" when they visited their parents.

3. Rinna pushed them into modeling where eating disorders run rampant. I'll try to refrain from saying how additionally stupid this was given the girls' looks. Oops, I failed.

Yeah, I'd say she had something to do with it. She's still trying to cash in from it, using it as fodder for the show. If my daughter had a disorder, the last thing I'd do is to publicize it, celebrity or not. Sharing it with people would be my daughter's choice.

I'm not defending Lisa R.  She's a piece of work that's for sure, but, at least she's funny and entertaining.  My "BEEF" is still with Kyle.  She was the one who really shoved in the blade and twisted it with LVP AND RUINED MY SHOW!  I can't forget that and Kyle just doesn't get it.  She's still a mean girl and fake "wanna be"celebrity in Beverly Hills, but, just can't figure out how.

So much THIS. I almost choked when the caption said "Kyle's assistant". Assistant for what? Lunching, shopping, cutting Mauricio's toenails, or confronting friends? If she has any actual friends it is the repulsive Faye Resnick, and I can certainly see why they are a good pair. Hubby is another ungrateful con man as well. At this point I dislike all of them except LVP and Denise, but I don't find Denise in the least bit interesting. I quit watching Atlanta and New Jersey when it got to this point, this and NY were my favorites, but unless they come up with a new interesting cast next season, which means no Kyle, Dorit, Teddi and Erika for sure, I'm out. I detest Kyle, Dorit and Teddi, Erika is just pathetic and therefore sad to watch.

There were a lot of things I saw this episode that I fought quite telling.

There was great irony in Rinna complaining about Camille talking about people behind their back...as she was talking about Camille behind her back. The dinner encounter with her family was really awkward to watch. I imagine my mother would have slapped me silly if I had flipped my father off behind his back. I just got the vibe that Harry was unappreciated in his household...and maybe that has something to do with him always being in Canada...or maybe that's why he's always in Canada. In any case, the more I see and hear Rinna talk about her marriage and all of the separation in her family, it seems like physical distance in her marriage may be part of the reason they have both held on so long. It also really rubbed me the wrong way when they were complaining about the veggie burger and Harry asked why they didn't tell him they didn't like that burger because he wouldn't continue buying it otherwise and the annoying daughter snapped back 'you should ask!'. Get the fuck out of here with that brattiness.

When Rinna was telling Erika about the Camillle situation, by the end of it, Erika made a comment where she used the term 'we' to describe the current standing of the grou's relationship with Camille and once again, it was another telling sign to me that the women are in cahoots together. Why is Erika speaking as part of the group when she wasn't involved and she's had no issue with Camille for her to feel it necessary to immediately align herself as though choosing sides is a requirement...well except for the good chance that choosing sides is part of a deal that was made at some point.

Dorit's children are adorable. Jagger really is a confident little fella, lol. However, their mom yelling at the assistant was not cute. I get that they messed up but I just don't see how it's helpful to take time to talk down to someone when the priority should be to address whatever the issue is first. Take them aside later to have a conversation where you can be both calm but also stern in your message.

Brandi is a train wreck. Has been for the longest time and continues to be. I don't need her on my screen and Denise is going to catch my bad books real quick if she becomes the catalyst for more Brandi scenes.

This show has truly lost it's flavor. It's not at all what it set out to be originally. My belief is that of course there are many other wealthy housewives to focus on in Beverly Hills but they want nothing to do with this show and prefer to keep their beautiful lives private.  I don't blame them at all.

So much for "zero fucks"; seems this year she's got nothing but fucks to give. Remember, season after season, how she used to say she had no time for these "petty girl dramas"?

I'm warming up to Denise's husband.

I feel bad for all the people who were affected by the fires, including Camille.  She may have another home in Hawaii but probably all her and her children's sentimental stuff was in that home.

Agreed about Denise' husband.   He is wonderful with the children.  I could do without all the personal sex talk and I think he just rolls with it, does not add to it.

He seems like a great guy. The sex talk comes from Denise. That’s all she got.

I do think it is instructive that when they both walk in the room Eloise runs to him first. He is obviously the caregiver. Denise seems to be away a lot and Aaron is a loving and involved step father who brings some stability to what seems to be a very chaotic household.

Of course I blame this on Lisa Vanderpump.

If Amelia's eating disorder is as bad as it seems (she's allergic to fucking everything???), I think she doesn't need to be on a reality TV show - she needs to be in an eating disorder treatment center.  She needs to stop disrespecting her father (I'm okay with her disrespecting her mother, because I can't stand Rinna.  No, not really - no child should ever disrespect a parent, even Rinna).  And, giving your father the finger??  I'd be missing that finger permanently if I ever did that, and my kids would have had that finger in a splint if they did that to me or my husband!

Maybe Harry is sorry his relationship with Bond Girl Ursula Andress failed. The kid they have together is a hunk! Funny Rinna never seems to bring them up.

I think I've figured out one of the reasons why the RHNY group is more enjoyable to watch than these harpies (imo). The NY ladies geniunely care about one another (except maybe Barbara). Sure, they fight and bicker and get nasty, but they are also (mostly) there for each other when the chips are down. The BH women are all out for themselves: they'd throw each other under the bus in a hot minute if they thought it would make them the fan favorite or (perceived) queen bee.

Kyle can't invite Lisa!  That would take some of the attention away from her.    It has to be about her, her money, her glamour, her influence, her children, her husband.  HER HER HER.  Just like Rinna.  ICK

I can't comment on the rest of the show cause I did not and will not watch it.    It's in the crapper for me with what they did to LVP

I’ve worked in digital marketing basically as long as it’s been around, but I’ve never heard of online sales referred to as “e-com.” I know what Dorit meant by that, but it actuality sounds a little dated (even though she means for it to sound “cool”). Maybe I’m wrong.

It was also weird to see Rinna’s business absolutely covered in neon “Store Closing” signs like a rug store that’s been “going out of business” for years. Seems pretty down market.

She also sells polyester for QVC and Depends, so I am not surprised by the down market thing.  It looked a bit like a fireworks store!

Lol Erika has a temper on her, but I think she’s a kinder person than Brandi.

Yes, those veggie burgers are very beef-like.

No, she never has.

I don't know if I tried Impossible burgers or Beyond burgers.  They were red inside due to beets in them.  I didn't like them.  Too large for me and there was an after taste that I wasn't fond of.  I like old fashioned original gardenburgers best.

I don't know what is going on with the Hamlin's but can they PLEASE keep those kids off the show?  They aren't interesting and frankly I am tired of them.

The one thing about the Woolsey Fire that I cannot get out of my head re Malibu.  It was hairy getting people out of there and there were some animals issues.  Some guy who owned a winery or something like that had exotic animals.  He evacuated his fancy cars and left the animals.  There was a giraffe that people were very concerned about.  Then there was a donkey or something like that (man my memory is going!) that was tied to a lifeguard stand and left.  I am pretty sure the owner came back for it or someone rescued it but it was just so sad seeing it alone in the smoke knowing the fire was coming.  Malibu is a very scary place to get out of.

Anyone else see Brandi morphing into Adrienne Maloof?

I really want these women to stop with the Jeannie hairdo.  It is way too harsh!  I am not opposed to a high pony but do they need to slick it all back so tight?  Free face lift maybe?

She has really fucked up her face.  I used to think she was pretty.  Cheap looking but pretty.  I think she must have started going to budget plastic surgeons.  The work is terrible.  But then again Kyle also had a wonky eye at the beginning so maybe its just one of those things.  I also think Kyle has had a lot of hair loss.  That explains the Joe Guidice color spray we have seen and all the hats.  Someone as enamored of her own hair as Kyle wouldn't cover it up like she has this season without a reason.

I'm not a fan of Camille, she can be a real bitch, but Erika cackling "we're gonna beat her up in France, we're gonna kick her ass in France" was just gross.

I was just going to quote myself and say that I was actually really bothered by all the "beating up" they talked about doing. It's not funny, and it's actually kind of troubling. Thinking of the little gal whose friends killed her because they didn't like her anymore, Skylar was her name. That is how I feel about this season, LVP may manipulate (whatever, dummies) but she's never talked about kicking someone's ass.
