Extra Hot Great

Well normally, we'd only give you one guess a week but in the interests of ending this, David Thomas, burger baron and double guesser got it. It was "I'm sorry to tell you..." a la TAR Philimination.

This might be the hardest TPTDP ever. That would never have jumped out at me unless you started saying it 5 times in every podcast.

One cannot underestimate how DC area kids of my generation loved that commercial. That and former Redskin Joe Jacoby awkwardy reading ad copy for TheaterVision. Which, sadly, isn't on YouTube.

I keep searching for that one of Cal Ripken doing an ad for Wild World (though it could have been after the change to Adventure World but before it became Six Flags) where he's got a roller coaster coming out of the top of his head (Mind Eraser I think?). It was then I started being afraid of him and his crazy eyes...

I was really excited I got so many answers right in this game time!

Captain: Scott Porter, aka QB Jason Street (Friday Night Lights), because he's cute and funny and can sing a bit. Also, he was fun on Whose Line Is It Anyway? a couple of weeks back.

Tennille: Amber Riley (Glee), ditto.

or...

Captain: Capt. Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew, Star Trek- Voyager), who just seems cool and has that voice.

Tennille: Aisha Tyler (The Talk Archer and Whose Line Is It Anyway?), because she's fun.

I thought it was going to be super easy to guess because it's been in almost every episode of a show that's been on a major network for 14 years, probably over 200 times. Sorry guys! I wasn't trying to be cunning or anything.

The Captain Hawkeye Pierce and Linda Belcher Old-Time Vaudeville Fun Hour.

Hawkeye brings the terrible Groucho impression, and Linda sings. Later, Hawkeye makes it serious when he delivers a monologue about how war is bad. Then there's a sketch with guest stars Paul Lynde and Chris Pratt.

And now I have the Hawkeye version of You're the Top stuck in my head. Thanks Monty :)

I'd probably have gone Picard & Annabeth (also Kristen Chenoweth) from WW, simply because I didn't watch Pushing Daisies but enjoy Cheno.  But Pierce is a great choice!

A dramatic series on Ann Richards' life would be awesome. Holland Taylor played her very well in a one woman play she also wrote. Which would also be nice to have preserved on video.

I agree. If a dramatic series were to be made, Holland Taylor MUST play Ann Richards. Here is an episode of Amy Poehler's Smart Girls that features an interview with Taylor and a few scenes from the play (which Taylor wrote as well as starred in).

I need to track down the episode of Unsolved Mysteries that they did about my hometown back in 1990.  It was pretty much the only big crime we ever had since the lawless Old West days and when the episode aired we had viewing parties because everyone was obsessed with it.  Weirdly I've never seen that episode again even though I used to watch the reruns constantly but I think I know what I'll be doing at work today instead of working....

Eve, far from a downer, that idea is great and probably overdue. I think FOX- with it's mostly stalwart  support of Cops and America's Most Wanted, would also be a good fit.

To be a little sillier: Unsolved Mysteries would keep it's name on SyFy due to all the unsolved UFO and like stories that Sara would get rid of from her version. It is hosted by SyFy stars Tara Reid and Ian ( EYE-an) Zeiring.   If there has to be someone in the field, let it be Josh Gates. of the defunct Destination Truth.

Another way of rebooting/ fracturing the series ( to maximize the ad revenues), have a version on The History Channel that deals with just the major historical unsolved mysteries ( like the Lindberg kidnapping) as well as the unexplained/alt-histories the mothership  used to air. Unlike the Spike version, there will be new cases mixed with the old.  It  should be narrated by Keith David, one of the voices of City Confidential.

"The Village" really exists - it's called Portmerion Italianate Village on Anglesey (an island off Wales in the UK), where the show was filmed. Though there's no casino or Rovers preventing you from leaving. There is, however a shop (I think it was No 6's house in show) where you can buy all sorts of Prisoner memorabilia (you can also run down the beach and shout "I am not a Number, I am a free man!" but it's probably frowned on).

My favorite part of Game Time is the weekly "YOU ARE NOW AN OLD PERSON" reminder.  For example, in this week's game, when Ms. Batey was asked which character died falling down an elevator shaft, she guessed the fictional character in the show within the show Friends that Joey was acting as when his character died, not knowing that Friends was parodying the L.A. Law episode in which Rosalind Shays fell down an elevator shaft.  Because Ms. Batey is way too young to remember L.A. Law.  Also, in the "Guess the TV show by the sound effect" game, I instantly recognized that sound that Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie makes when she blinks and casts a spell, which no one on the panel could recognize.

Also, you kids keep your damn ball off of my lawn.

LeighAnne I instantly recognized that sound that Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie makes when she blinks and casts a spell

Is that the same as Samantha's "Nose twitch" sound effect from Bewitched? Well, the same in the sense that KITT's "Whoop, whoop" scanner is essentially the same as the cylon "Wom, wom", just at a different pitch.

I know what you mean about feeling old - I'm imminently getting older (well, OK, we're all getting older all the time, but I'm about to clock up another digit) and I'm increasingly getting surprised at people referring to anything from the 90s as "old". But that's - Oh yeah, 20 years ago and those young whippersnappers born in that decade can now vote. I'd yell at them to get off my lawn, if only I had one!

Quiver (Arrow themed)--

Five wings-décor: Starling City/fancy, Starling City/ The Glades, Hong Kong, Russia, and a camping space with cabins looking like the crashed plane Slade Wilson, Shado and Oliver Queen lived in.

There will be a big water area in the front with the Amazo wreckage and mutiny fights at prescribed times.  There will be a straight-up campground for those adventurous/ poor. There are ziplines ( with multilingual attendants who know "move along, please" in eight languages) and "parachute" rides. The archery pros will be happy to help anyone from Memaw to [Your name here], Junior learn the ancient art of the bow ( slapping water optional.) Meditation classes are also available.

There will be a proper sit down restaurant, Whatever She's Having, that is a seasonally changing menu of fresh vegetables and various fowl. The menu is also a mix of Asian, New American and Russian.   Of course, there is also a Big Belly Burger on site.

The artist in residence is really four: In the Fancy Starling wing, there is a ballroom/ big band style arraignment and Pink Martini. In The Glades, there is, of course, Verdant, where the resident DJ is not an undercover ninja snitch, but Steve Aoki ( bonus? he opened the TV show's Verdant!) In the Hong Kong wing, the Getaway Harbour, has Yoko Kanno, who can play any style anyone chooses.  Last, but not least, in the Russian wing, at Tereshkova's , the band Splean. [real people/bands, Google them! *g*] (Campers? If you are trying to hardcore like Oliver, you don't get any luxuries, except for waterproof matches and indoor plumbing.)

Also, every summer there's Camp Smoaky , where STEM is taught to underprivileged kids.

The one big luxury for the campers is The Cave, the walk-up drive-in movies, where Warner Brothers movies are playing on two screens, once the sun starts setting. (One kids, one grown-ups.)There is a Big Belly concession stand, of course.

You guys found a Game Time Mr. Actionmage was knocking out of the park!   :D  He usually just plays along to make nice with me, but he was awesome.

As to the Emmys, I hope that Grant Gustin can break down the snob barrier. While I think Mr. Gustin had a great showing for a rookie season, there have been other performances that have been overlooked simply because the actors were in a genre show ( Ms. Maslany, obviously being one obvious snub. I stand by my Stephen Amell  hope, but that's neither here nor there.)

The only Hannibal opinion I'll state here is that I hope that Jack survived. Laurence Fishburne is great, period, but he gives Will/ Hugh Dancy such a great weight to play off of in scenes. I would miss that gruff, take-no-shit Papa Bear.

Again, thanks for a wonderful Game Time!

I'm with you, MuuMuuChainsmoker. Everything just seems right when Joe Reid is one of the group.

That game time was a really good one. Another of the type that you could sometimes puzzle out if you only know half of the information as long as either the first or last name is at least slightly distinctive. Though I did run into the problem that Sarah and John Potts were having of knowing who the person is but blanking on the name. Or blanking for just long enough that the answer would be given before I pulled the name out of my memory. (This was mostly an issue when it was Tara's turn. She is speedy with her responses!)

During the tie breaker I was screaming X-Files, waiting for someone to get that. But I have to admit that even though I knew Munch has appeared on a bunch of shows, I did not realize it was that many.

I know this makes me the whiniest whiner who ever whined, but I submitted a variation on this game time over a year ago... except it was all people who started in shows now but who had their start in soaps. But it was nice to see the mixed-up name game plan used.. even if it was not my own.

derp - people who currently have STARRING roles, but who STARTED in soaps... I can't spell.

I read a review about Hannibal awhile back that said the show is emotionally accurate without being logically accurate. After that point, I realized I don't so much look at the plot for this show as I do for moments like that horror when Hannibal killed Beverly or the incredibly creeptastic/disgusting humor of Mason eating his own face. I will say I was also okay with Abigail dying. I felt like her character was less of a loss to the show than the others at this point. But who knows, maybe more are dead.

Pancakes, Divorce, Pancakes was a great episode of Review. I like seeing how these things turn. Going to Space was also a priceless adventure. Props for the line about Forrest's soul being empty if not for all the pancakes.

I liked the game time but at times had the same problem as everyone else where I could see the actor in my mind but couldn't think of the name. Also, Munch got around.
