I've been re-watching some old seasons and Lu was actually very laid back and likeable when she was with Jacque.  (sp?)  Post Countess and pre cabaret Lu is the best Lu.  I don't know if he was the deciding factor in her good behavior, but she was a completely different person.

Your 💯 correct.   During the time she dated Jacques she was at her best.

LuAnn is such a terrible listener, I can’t imagine she gets very much insight listening to others at AA.

She is too busy rehearsing (in her mind) what story she is going to entertain her captive audience with.

This!  But in truth that can be said about each and every HW for each and every city.

What I still can’t understand is how these women with all their theatrics don’t see that they are permanently tarnishing their reputations.

And her best included cheating on him.

Going back to the girls in St. Barth for the “Pirate Booty Call” episode, I was thinking about how LuAnn wanted the guys at the Le Ti Club to give her a special introduction to their tiny burlesque stage.  I remember thinking at the time how arrogant she was and I couldn’t understand why she expected that.  Little did I know that was just a taste of how far she would go.  We also learned what a liar she could be.  It was one of the first examples of her publicly humiliatingly herself.

I personally, am thrilled that Bethenny went off on her.  She is intolerable, to use Bethenny’s verb.  Ignoring Sonja’s breakdown, who was in fact telling her in the car that she was upset, as well as Barb crying because she didn’t fit in, and that’s just a few examples.  Lu deserved that and then some!

I’m sorry I’ve posted a few times about this episode.  Every morning I read more of Lu’s rebuttal after the episode and it’s just makes me angry.  I also want to take back anything negative I ever said about Barb.  I feel bad about that.  I wouldn’t mind seeing her again next year.  Diversity makes an interesting show.

Jesus christ. I'm like, what could be worse than watching LuAnn look as fresh as a Baby Jane recital. Then I see Rinna's old skin-covered skeleton gyrating with her open lips that belong in a pair of panties......god she grosses me out. I'll take a thousand Lu cabarets over a forty second Rinna doing that. Geesh...she just gives me the creeps.

I am laughing myself silly!  I am wondering why Rinna licked her arm while gyrating?  Was she hungry?

Luann is spilling (Long Island) tea:

"...De Lesseps added she is starting to think that Frankel's relationship with Paul Bernon has been going on longer than people think, and insinuated that Frankel - who went Instagram official last December - cheated on her late  boyfriend Dennis Shields, who died last August."

https://celebrityinsider.org/rhony-luann-de-lesseps-accuses-bethenny-frankel-of-cheating-on-dennis-shields-with-paul-bernon-293279/

In no world does this end well for Luann (ten to one she backpedals her "insinuation" within 48 hours...)

Maybe Rinna was channeling Erica Jayne again? Did she pat her puss and we missed it?  Luann was coming perilously close to busting that "move" with her self-caressing.

If Dennis was married and cheating with Bethenny (I don't care if he was and how long separated, married is married until there is a divorce/annulment) then how is Bethenny cheating on Dennis if she is seeing somebody else while cheating with Dennis? Does that one cheat cancel out the other? It reminds me of a deceased friend of mine. She was cheating with a married man, then he was cheating on my friend, as well as his wife. I don't believe half of the crap she spews about their "engagement/non-engagement." I agree that it is absolutely appalling to drag Dennis' death out in public to make it all about her when he has a grieving family behind.

Sonja's reaction to the AA meeting puzzled me. I tend to agree with those who have posted that she got upset because some of the stories were cautionary tales about where her own life is headed. I don't think that anybody is ever going to let Sonja sleep under a bridge or have to go to the soup kitchen every day.  More likely, she saw some own truth in the stories of excessive drinking and the aftermath that are often shared at AA meetings and they hit too close to home. That happened to me many many years before I stopped drinking. I went to an AA meeting, very sincere about hoping it would help. However, the sad stories only served to make me feel more ashamed and guilty and hopeless about my own situation, so I didn't bother going back. Part of me also thinks that Sonja's little beach side meltdown was partially for attention. Little did she know that she was just the opening act for later in the evening.

Somebody needs to send Tinsley an anonymous copy of that old dating strategy book, "The Rules," that was popular earlier in the decade. Every behavior Tinsley exhibited on her date would be a "no-no" in that book. Too eager (check). Revealed too many personal details too soon (check). Talked about marriage and having babies (check). Making out on the first date (check). I would be very surprised if the guy asks her out again unless he figures he can get her drunk quickly and sleep with her. And Sonja of all people, should never be giving dating advice (or any of the women for that matter).

Bethenny and Luann have been thoroughly and thoughtfully covered so I have nothing more to offer there. They both behaved terribly.

Maybe this belongs in the unpopular opinion section, but I am rooting for Luanne.

I just rewatched the special Bravo aired about her life prior to the show.  It seems she has struggled for a very long time - minimally since the car accident which prompted her to return to the states - and possibly longer if the Count was sleeping around early on.

It seems like its been one loss and/or misstep for her since then - other than perhaps the time she did tv spots for a local tv station upon her return and then landing the gig with RHNY.

She says moving back to the states was the beginning of the end of her relationship with the count.

Divorce, big drop in financial status, failed relationships, no real career of her own, etc.

To me, I think Lu has been fighting to find her own identity while trying to retain a luxury lifestyle.  She seems empty, desperate and fearful.  That mindset causes her to make bad decisions (e.g. Tom, drinking, etc.) and I think the way she has been behaving to her friends is a way of boosting herself up without realizing it is at the expense of others.

If I met Luanne on the streets, I'm not sure I'd like her too well.  But, I do think she is very fragile and likely just flat-out tired after years of trying to make her way after the car accident.

I think she wears a thick coat of armor and equally thick blinders. She could use long-term, intense therapy to help her cope a little better.

She said in the special that she doesn't dwell on the past.  I'm not sure that is a good strategy because it seems she has a lot of unresolved crap she's lugging around that she's not dealing with.

This is my general feeling, as well. I think she is incredibly insecure about who she is and she is also recognizing at this late date that it is better for her to have her income come from her own efforts, rather than depending upon some man. Yes, I know, she didn't have any problems relying a man for money but I think her experiences with both her ex-husbands made her realize that she's better off depending upon herself to support herself.

I think that those are the reasons the cabaret act is so important to her. One, it gives her an identity, one that she's successful at (whether we like it or not, the cabaret act is a success) and two, it allows her to support herself.

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Luann refuses to be introspective, look at her mistakes, and learn from her experiences. Therapy is useless for a person who refuses to evaluate their past. The thing is that if she was minimally capable of self-reflection she would realize that this show is a great gift in many ways. You film the show, your producer interviews you for your talking head segments,  you watch the show, you write your blog/tweet, and then film the reunion. It's a lot of opportunities to evaluate your life and mistakes and make changes. For a long time, I thought that Luann had probably improved her relationship with her kids based on the footage she saw because she must care about her kids. However, the fact that Alex had to fly in for the 4th of July to reason with Luann and that the kids had sue her, tells me that Luann didn't learn a goddamn thing. And maybe she never wants to learn anything.

^This^ times a kazillion. Perfectly said, thank you! You would think that by now, with all the ups and downs Luann has experienced, she'd have at least a few ounces of humility in her but nope. She always whines and opines when she's down, poor me/pour me, then as soon as she's on an upward trajectory, she reverts back to Madam Asshole, lording any positive happenings in her life over everyone else, expecting everyone to bow to her awesomeness. She will never learn, IMO. It's really quite sad. When someone like this has been gifted so many opportunities to turn their life around and learn from it and dare I say, Be A Better Person, and then doesn't? It's pathetic and sad. Like, Sonja Morgan pathetic and sad.

I was watching Season one and two this weekend. Luann was soo different, yet not. The other women really put her on a pedestal though. Wow. She was the center apple back then. "The Countess doesn't drink beer from a bottle, darling." Lol. That was a blast from the past.

The book sounds like a bad idea - she should probably wait until she has some distance from this - you get better perspective with the benefit of some distance. She's not even done with her probation yet! Let's see how she does without restrictions on her. It feels like she's still in the midst of this.

I hate to break it to her, but she's still got a wet-head that needs a hell of a lot more than a mere 8 months to dry out.  She's not thinking straight, because she's still dealing with her pickled brain.

No one stops drinking and goes back to being themselves in such a short time.   She is gonna need a loooot more time and determination to even get close to normal thoughts and/or behaviors.    Her idea of an AA meeting is just another forum for her to entertain the audience.  It has nothing to do with her being a mental cripple using booze as a crutch.

There's also the importance of coming to grips with her alcoholism in the first place.   She says some of the right words, but she doesn't truly seem to connect with the reality that she's an ugly, out of control drunk who has no concept of what getting sober and STAYING sober truly entails.

I picture her writing her book with a big, old glass of wine at the ready.  Me thinks the former countess protesteth too much, too often and way too soon.

But the sooner she finishes the book, the sooner someone can turn it into a three-hour soliloquy - - set to “music” - - that they bring to Broadway!

(starring The Countess herself, of course)

First she needs to find a publisher according to Page6.  She could self publish.  Oh I want her to have a book just so I can imagine Carole’s reaction.

When it comes to who gets a publishing deal, there is no rhyme or reason.  Publishing is a business, and the quality of the author or material is never really the main issue.  If a publisher thinks that they can make enough money out of a Luann memoir then they will sign her.  Publishers do take losses on some books, but a "celebrity" memoir is not usually one of those books.

The biggest roadblock would be her advance or lack of an advance.  I can see Luann wanting a six-figure advance without thinking about the implications--she has to pay back if the book does not perform.  There have been cases of publishers taking authors to court to get back those monies.

Those poor kids.  All that money to what end?   Money can't buy you class, but in their case, money CAN buy their mother.

She's got a big For Sale (Cheap) sign written in red neon running across her forehead.  I wonder what they'd give for a mom who actually cared about their welfare before her own.

WARNING TO PHILADELPHIA AREA VIEWERS!!!!!!!!!!

Going westbound over the Betsy Ross is a Countess and friends billboard.

This is an advisory:  do not establish prolonged eye contact, keep both hands on the wheel, and stay focused until you cross the bridge.

If we all pull together we will get through this terrible time.

Drive safely.

West-bound? Is she playing at one of the racetracks casinos?

Wouldn't you love for her limo to make a wrong turn and get lost in Kensington?

You know, I've given this some thought and I think Lu would be best served by not going back to being herself.  The old, pre-jail, pre-Tom, Countess Lu wasn't such a great version, really.  She should just burn it to the ground and start fresh.

However, given her track record, wherever she goes....whatever state of mind she chooses to put herself in...if she's in her cups or not....there she's gonna be...poor, delusional thing.

Yeah.  Just basing an opinion on the special about her life, it seems Luanne rode a wave of fun and adventure since her very first beauty pageant but never really developed much of her own that stuck.  Seems a re-boot makes sense.

I actually think Luanne knows this about herself on some level and that is why she is clinging to the cabaret - even at the expense of her friends on occasion.  It's a survival mechanism, IMO.
