I still do it to my 215 pound 15 year old. Jenelle didn't do that to Jace. She wasn't concerned about him one bit in that instance. That's not a normal reaction. 86 Link to comment

While MTV didn't show it Jace said in his phone call to Barb that Janelle pointed the gun at the guy and the guy responded with you better not shoot and mom finally pulled out so I wonder how long the battle of the half wits was. I actually wonder if it's somewhat beneficial for Jace to see how badly this stuff can go (since it turned out sort of ok) - maybe he'll get to learn from his mother's mistakes rather than having to make the same ones himself. (Since the option of having a normal mother is not on the table). But that's about the only upside I can see to any of this. Lots of other thoughts . . . As for the trooper leaving Jace in the car with the gun - although that wasn't ideal, I think the top priority was getting Jenelle away from her gun. Jace seemed to be behaving appropriately during the stop, while Jenelle most certainly was not. I don't even have kids and I reflexively reach out no matter who or what is in the passenger seat. It's a human instinct, isn't it? By contrast, it seemed like her first instinct when she was pulling into that guy's yard was to get out her gun. Agreed with others above - when David Eason of all people is the voice of reason, you've really screwed up. I don't brake check, but I do occasionally ease off the gas pedal when someone is following so closely that I feel I have to pay as much attention to what's going on behind me as I do to what's going on in front of me (and if I have to do that, I do need to slow down a little to give myself a little extra reaction time). People seem to tailgate more than they used to - I attribute this to increased crowding on the road, the decline in drivers' ed classes, which we used to get in school (and they really drilled you on how much space you need to leave to be safe - almost no one does any more), and then just people reasoning from what everybody else is doing - if your parents and everybody else you know tailgate, so will you, because you assume that it's fine. However! - I do not do this when I could instead pull over into the slow lane, for God's sake. That guy had to pass her on the right. ETA: I assume he did cut her off when he pulled in front, not just because he's one of those people who doesn't know how close is too close (yikes - the people who do that in front of trucks have no idea that trucks can't stop on a dime!), but because he was pissed. Well, back off, and talk to your son about what bad driving is and how to stay safe when other people on the road are driving badly. Pro tip: don't follow them home with your gun! Just put a little distance between yourself and the crazy person and get on with your day. Edited July 24, 2018 by akr additional paragraph 16 Link to comment

OMG, you know it’s bad when even UBT thinks it was a bad idea for her to do that! And....cue her crocodile tears. All of this. This is why Jenelle should not get custody. Ever. I really believe she has no maternal instincts, and is incapable of making good choices. What kind of special dumbass puts yourself and your child in danger by playing chicken with another dumbass, then follow the other person, pull a gun on said crazy driver, then cry only half of the story to law enforcement. The smart, mature thing to do would have been to pull over, let the idiot by, then go about your business. Or maybe use the phone to grab a photo of the other guys plates. But, then again, it's Jenelle. As far as Ali's aid - if the IEP says she is to have an aid, then the school is in violation. https://adayinourshoes.com/school-not-following-iep/ took me a minute to find this - Leah and Corey could easily find info just as quickly. Okay, not really, but it was gross. For some reason the part that really got me was when Jenelle demanded her phone and Jace scrambled to get it to her and he looked so scared that he didn't have it ready. I was an anxious kid too, but I had kind, loving parents, so I didn't have to feel like that very often. It was so nice of the cop to reassure him later. Glad someone bothered to. Another thing I noticed is that Jenelle and Leah both totally ignore their kids when they're driving in favor of delivering insipid monologues to the cameras. Leah seems to get a pass lately because a lot of people think she's sweet, but for me her most noticeable traits are "self-absorbed" and "dangerously stupid." She'd rather throw a hissy fit about what a concerned mahm she is for the cameras, or tell the producer that Ali needs help "wiping" (WTFFF) than answer Gracie's question the first, second, or third time the poor kid had to ask it. If you're going to make your oldest kid the Deputy Parent, you need to keep her in the loop on this stuff. It's only fair. Edited July 24, 2018 by JocelynCavanaugh 39 Link to comment

Popular Post Stusan July 24, 2018 Popular Post Share July 24, 2018 Did anyone notice the progression of how Jenelle described the incident? 1. First it was that she had to brake suddenly. 2. Then it was that she had to swerve and could have ended up in the grass. 3. Last, when she was talking to the police, she absolutely had to swerve and was all the way into the grass. Understandably, our view from the dash cam was skewed, but it did not look like she swerved at all, and when she braked, Jayce's head was nowhere near the dash, nor did his head move enough for whiplash. (We've already all discussed that he shouldn't have been in the front seat, anyway). If she told the story now, she would say that she ran off the road, then swerved across five lanes of traffic and that Jayce had a concussion because of the complete hit of his head on the dash. P.S. I don't know much how elementary schools run now, but couldn't they come up with another solution or have her use her wheelchair and she can put her backpack on that and have just a table for her to pull up to and use? I don't know, just seems like the school isn't thinking of ways to help, but I also don't know what else they could do, if they don't have the funds, they don't have them. Could they hire an aide themselves? Not like Leah doesn't have the money. Just saying. And ok she has it in her plan but maybe they can home school her. And why doesn't Jenelle just turn off or slow the fuck down. And why call David? Wtf and why pull up in front of his house. And why follow this dude and act all bad ass. Anyone fucking following me to my house would get the cops called on them. People drive like shit every day and Jenelle was egging it on by saying on camera she was going to drive all slow on purpose, but then she keeps driving fast and follows the dude, wtf is she thinking, Jace could have gotten harmed. Then when she gets out the gun, Jace didn't even seem surprised. This bitch is going to harm someone with her I think I am a badass attitude. I love that David was saying you can't follow people. Ha her ass got pulled over. Now she swerved into the grass. This bitch. They cannot just take the aide away if it is in her IEP. Doesn’t matter if they don’t have the funds. They have to find them. If they don’t, Corey and Leah can make a formal complaint. (These are federal protections, btw, under IDEA.) I honestly cannot imagine a principal shrugging her shoulders, as Leah said she did, after informing Leah that they were pulling her aide. I am not sure I am buying Leah’s version of the story. (This is all based on Corey stating the one-on-one aide is part of the IEP.) Any teacher or administrator knows that following that IEP is a huge deal. 26 minutes ago, Brooklynista said: I'm sorry but Janelle has mastered the art of White Woman Tears. Popular Post eskimo July 24, 2018 Popular Post Share July 24, 2018 It terrifies me to think that angry, impulsive people like her have weapons. I was surprised at how quickly she went for that gun. What a fucking idiot. Get the plate number, call the police, and give them a copy of the video. He gets in trouble (hopefully), and she doesn't endanger everyone in a 1/2 mile radius (or however far a bullet can travel). Having said that, the driver of the truck was ABSOLUTELY being an aggressive dickwad. I believe that he was tailgating and being aggressive before she intentionally slowed down. And while it's stupid to purposefully try to irritate a possibly volatile person the way she did, the way we saw him race up beside her and then quickly brake and pull right back in behind her, then tailgate and swerve around within the lane, and then brake-check her, is dangerous as fuck at freeway speeds. That could have easily been a multi-vehicle accident that hurt or killed any number of people around them. Everything after the off-ramp was Jenelle's doing, but the majority of what happened before that was mostly due to an equally impatient, self-important asshole. He can fuck off as much as she can, in my book. Someone upthread said break-checking is no big deal, but I disagree. Unless he's a safe distance in front of her, in which case what's the point of break-checking somebody? It sounds like it might be an unpopular opinion here, but that's my take. 27 Link to comment

Bridget July 24, 2018 Share July 24, 2018 (edited) No way a principal shrugged their shoulders regarding the removal of a 1:1 aide for a student with an IEP. It just doesnt happen because it’s against the damn law. The hinky part is that Leah said the aide’s name was on some paperwork that said “transferred”, so if the aide was transferred to a different site/school, Ali’s school would still have to find a sub aide for Ali (just like when a teacher will be out & they need a sub) until a permanent aide is hired. We only heard 50% of the truth re: the 1:1 situation for Ali at school. At least Corey knew the term IEP and what would happen if they kept Ali home from school. I get that Leah was upset (rightfully so), but she neglected to mention the basic legal safeguards that are in place for every student with an IEP. Instead of leaving school, she should’ve demanded a meeting with the principal or gone to the district office to get down to the bottom of it. I cannot with Jenelle. Popular Post kit.kat343 July 24, 2018 Popular Post Share July 24, 2018 (edited) I'm a former NYC public school teacher, and the schools I taught at were constantly in violation of federal special education law. Their theory was that the parents were unlikely to sue and therefore they'd try to get away with the kind of nonsense that may be happening here (if Corey's recollection is correct, then the school is in violation of federal law since if an aide is included in Ali's IEP the aide can't be taken away unless the school can justify that Ali no longer needs one, which is quite unlikely given the fact that she appears to be growing weaker.). I can understand the frustration of the school in that they are paying for an aide when the child's parents won't keep the kid in a wheelchair, get her a helmet/kneepads or find more appropriate activities than softball for her to participate in. But the fact that her parents are not handling this well means that its even more important for the school to help her succeed since her parents quite frankly haven't yet taken the steps to help Ali achieve as much as possible. And this might be part of why the school thinks they can get away with taking away her aide, since Leah and Corey seem to be more concerned with Ali being like all the other kids than with actually meeting her medical needs. If an aide was included in the IEP, and the school took it away without following proper procedures, Leah and Corey could sue and would win the right for Ali to attend any private school of their choosing paid for by the local school district. And up until now, I hadn't hoped anything bad would happen to Jenelle but seeing how she risked Jace's life just to escalate a confrontation with another crazy driver, I'd say her kids would be much better off without her. jacksgirl July 24, 2018 Share July 24, 2018 Long time public school teacher here. Agree we only know part of the story re Ali and her aide. An IEP is it legal document and must be enforced. It is renewed yearly after consultation with the team including the parents, educators, school psychologists, etc., but it also can be modified with parent consent before the year is up. That being said, I want to tell you that there is no one in my public school that works harder than our aides and paraprofessionals. Of course most public schools are in financial difficulties, please know that these people who work in special needs classes in public schools are doing it for love of the children. I need a lot more of the story before I'm willing to criticize Ali's school. 22 Link to comment
Popular Post Kellyee July 24, 2018 Popular Post Share July 24, 2018 Jenelle is the biggest asshole and worst parent on this show, hands down. To follow any stranger to their home after a road rage incident is stupid, but to do it with no regard for your child being in the car and to escalate the situation by pulling a gun on a man who YOU followed home should land you in jail. The guy probably cut her off and acted like an jerk, but be an adult. It would never occur to me to follow someone home in that situation. Ever. To make it worse, dumbass knew she had cameras on her when she did it, and she knew that her public image already sucked. 31 Link to comment
Popular Post poeticlicensed July 24, 2018 Popular Post Share July 24, 2018 Corey and Leah need to take some of that TM money and instead of buying bigger trucks and unicorn poop birthday cakes, hire a lawyer to fight for Ali. This isn't the first battle they will encounter when trying to get the school to comply . They also need an advocate for matters related to insurance, housing, social security disability, etc. Standing around bitching does no good. Janelle is a walking talking ad for gun control. She wasn't defending herself, she was angry. Otherwise she would have pulled off after the guy gave her a brake job, called down, made sure Jace was ok and gone on with her day. But no, she gets mad, starts pursuing him, and immediately pulls our a gun. She was spoiling for a fight. Can you imagine if everyone solved trafgic disputes that way? We'd have bodies littering the highways. I really hope the cops review the tape and charge her with reckless endangerment. 28 Link to comment
