The breakup was sudden for those of us following here.  They announced the courtship and, then, a few months later, we heard that Marjorie had called it off.  It was right after Josh' scandal broke and there was speculation that she just didn't want to be associated with the Duggars; but we don't really know.

Who wants to bet that Marjorie is thanking God right now that it wasn't her?  She has too much life to be in the Duggar clan.

Josiah could have a problem posing – but the pic where they’re standing by the cake is a candid and it doesn’t look particularly comfortable either; and the TLC video – come on this kid grew up on TLC and he has personality – he can turn it on.  Even his day to day IG pics – many of which are posed – look happier; whether gay or not, I wonder if the enormity of marriage for the rest of his life was hitting him that day.  I also wonder if he looks at Joseph who while much quieter than Josiah was very excited/emotional/physically into his wife on their wedding day – and Si is thinking, I should feel like THAT, why don’t I feel like THAT?

Also, why the rush to marry, whether gay or not? He’s only 21, she’s only 18.  As much as JB acts like a big swinging dick, reality is he hasn’t been able to marry off anyone who didn’t want to marry.  Jana – 28 – not married and clearly he’s been unable to force her.  JD – 28 – just started courting yesterday.  And there hasn’t been any rush on boy weddings generally; JB looks to get the girls attached to a headship so they can start making babies and isn’t all that concerned if a boy marries 2 yrs later – or in JD’s case many yrs later – than what JB and Michelle consider optimal.  If Josiah knew he wasn’t into it – why pursue it?? I realize he couldn’t have broken off the courtship bc JB and Michelle would freak out that he was unmarriable.  But why enter the courtship at all when you know courtship leads to marriage in 10 minutes? Even if JB was pushing – ahem that girl is nice, she likes you – can’t you tell dad that your heart is still stuck on Marjorie and you need to pray that away first? Or the Lord isn’t leading you in Lauren’s direction yet but you’ll pray?

If he is gay, I wonder why he was so happy with Marjorie? I only saw a few videos of theirs and they were obnoxiously goofy happy together.  I feel like he could have made a marriage with her work, even if he truly didn’t like women.  This marriage – he’s acting like it’ll be 60 years at a job he doesn’t want to take.  Their TLC video is worse than what I remember of Josh and Anna.  She is clinging to him for dear life like Anna did -- trying to please him/make him feel important as the headship, and he just DOES NOT CARE.  You’d think JB and Michelle would learn – when a child has a “problem” whether it’s not being straight (not a problem for me – but it is to them) or being a sexual predator – the fix to that is NOT, marry him off, once he has a wife and family his problem will be all better.  That worked out so well for Josh, didn’t it . . . .

I don’t think of Josiah as as much of an ass as Josh but desperation can lead you to do bad things – wonder if there will be hidden affairs in a few years.  In any event, I think there will be a pregnancy soon – maybe already today.  I can see Josiah being a good dad and maybe that’s how he’ll get thru married life – have sex with his wife just when it’s time to make the next baby and then take good care of the babies so while his wife may wonder if this is what a normal marriage is like, as a fundie – she’ll at least be thankful to have a man who is a good daddy and takes out the garbage. In the end that wasn’t enough for Josh though, who also seemed like a good dad but in the end still stepped out on Anna.

Howdy howdy!  I kill countless dead time at work reading these forums.  You guys give me life!  I must emerge from my lurking to comment...there’s just too much snarkable material.

I don’t care for her dress, but I like the fit on her better than Joy or Jill’s dresses.  She’s got a small waist so kudos to her for showing off...Lauren you hussy you!

The wedding looks simple enough and if that’s what the couple wanted honestly I’d rather that than any overly-Pinterest, I’m going for maximum IG likes type of event.  It seems genuine.  And no shade to fabulous, glamorous weddings, but it’s nice to see a tv wedding that doesn’t cost the equivalent of small BMW.

Si’s suit does fit well which is a first.  Perhaps the trend will continue.

Having said that, they do not have the glow most newlyweds seem to have.  She looks over the moon and he looks resigned to his fate.  Her clingyness is going to get old fast if he doesn’t get into this sham of a marriage.  I would feel sorry for him, but he’s a young adult, and has access to money and a private plane.  If women and children can escape cults in remote areas, he could have chosen another path if he wanted to.  IDK maybe ALERT beat all his emotions out of him and this is his happy face.

I reiterate my statement that dress fits her well.  It looks better in those pics where you can see the full silhouette.  Lightyears better than that ill fitting flour sack Jill wore.

I'd have to say (as someone with allergies) with a 1000 person crowd, I wouldn't bother mentioning any of my allergies.  Unless I was positive something was safe, I'd just abstain especially at a typical Baptist Duggar reception.  For my kids' weddings, I'm the one with the restaurant staff or caterers going through the lists of things that can't be included and all guests were directed to let me know.  We ordered special plates for two guests at older daughter's wedding due to gluten issues and just an absurdly picky eater, but she's the SIL of the groom so we dealt.  I ended up asking a top tier restaurant to prepare chicken fingers and fries.  ;)

Thank you.

OK, I'm not sure this is an appropriate question but I just have to ask.  Now with Joe and Josiah married and JD courting, do the boys in this family even have an idea of what naked females look like?  I mean the girls were all changing diapers and giving baths so they had seen naked boy babies and young boys, but I don't think the boys in the family were changing diapers.  So, um, are they like frantically googling pictures of women or how to have sex with a woman from the bathroom on their wedding night or does JD keep a Playboy or Penthouse in a safe somewhere to show them the night before they get married?  I figure Josh was finding porn at an early age because, well, Josh.

I wonder where he found it?  JB's stash?

The picture of him hugging her from behind is actually a good picture, they both look happy. She's got lots of gum but happy.

The dress shape in general is nice, but those tee shirt sleeves ruin it. It would have been great with a halter top. Yea I know, couldn't happen.

Or cap sleeves. I like the simplicity of a dress but a belt or detail at the neck would’ve elevated it to the next level.

It pains me when I see tall perfectly portioned women wearing boring ass wedding dresses. Good for Lauren for embracing her shape.

One thing that has started to worry me is that the Duggars read the boards. Even if JB and J'chelle don't have a close enough emotional attachment to their son to notice that he's not really interested in this marriage (they don't), they will be pissed to read about the reaction to the photos. I'll bet that they make his life hell until Lauren is officially knocked up.

Maybe something is wrong with me but I don’t mind Michelle’s dress.

Dont get me wrong, it super unflattering and a weird thing to wear to a wedding much less your own son’s wedding.  However, I’m so glad it’s not that dreadful blue dress she wears to half her kids weddings or the grey/silver unflattering one she wears to the rest of the weddings.

This is at least vibrant and lively and new.

I am going to a wedding later this summer.  The mother of the bride is gluten-free, so the WHOLE MEAL will be gluten-free.  A bit extreme, but it's not my day...

I don't find that extreme at all. I bet if they didn't tell you, you would not notice.  I have food allergies and don't expect to be catered to when I attend parties, etc. so the lack of options at SiRen's wedding ddn't bother me, except for the fact that the cake and cupcakes were all the same flavor.  If you have more than one item, no need for everything to be the same.

Its part of a long standing tradition of Duggars wearing Handmaid Red

I like Michelle's dress, except that it's a little too old looking shomehow.

I actually think it looks light-years younger than any of Michelle's previous wedding garb, and certainly better than the aluminum foil getup she wore to Jill's wedding. I'm actually rather impressed she tried a nice pattern for once. I think the angle for the photo was completely awful - makes her look like she has no neck. The overall look seems to be vaguely 1970s with those long sleeves, which I do like. However, I think it would have looked better with shorter sleeves considering Michelle's figure. She's busty and short and sometimes clothing on bustier, short women can make them look like a teapot.*

The dress looks like she had to go up a size to accommodate her bust, and it's too big everywhere else.   It needs tailoring.   I guess Jana was too busy.

even Meghan Markle, with all the money in the world to get a tailored dress, wore hers a little loose and was critiqued for it.

I didn't like the way hers fit either.  She's shown some very questionable judgment in dress and fit selection in the last couple of months as she tries to find her new style.  I did like her veil though.
