I couldn't believe Alyssa finally had someone to crack up with and show some humour with. RuPaul was DYING at her commentary at the end about Kimberly vs Josh. ElectricBoogaloo February 23, 2018 Author Share February 23, 2018 (edited) I thought the judges would definitely rip Anthony for being too literal with his galaxy top (which I thought looked like a paper plate taped to her top). His black pants were definitely avant garde (although I did find myself wondering how the poor model sat down!). “Take a chance with pants!” Merline’s white dress was weird but wearable. I liked what she did with the strips of fabric to create the shape and structure but I also felt like it was top safe for an avant garde challenge. Ken’s black hole coat was definitely avant garde but I also thought that his model looked like a huge clove of garlic. While I appreciate all the work that went into Fabio’s fringey quilted Neptune look, from a distance, it looked like a denim couch that had been clawed to death by a cat. That braided macrame crap on the shoulders looked like those horrible hanging plant holders from the 70s. I was surprisingly neutral on Helen’s supernova design. It wasn’t avant garde enough but it wasn’t horrible. What is it with leotards that the designers think equals avant garde? Josh’s glue dress looked boring from far away and ugly up close. I thought his glue idea was interesting in theory but there was just too much going on with the lace and the glue section and the flouncy pants. Loved Alyssa’s “bitch, please” face when he told Georgina that was all the explanation that he was going to give them But then he had to dig the hole even deeper by being a dick when she asked him specific questions. He is such a liar too. “I want to hear the good and the bad.” No, you don’t. All you want to hear is the ass kissing. And FYI - there are things besides bondage wear and LBDs. The fact that you think it has to be one or the other shows how narrow and limited your viewpoint is Related note: talking over people is not a good look. That goes double when you’re a contestant on a reality show and it’s a judge you’re talking over. Don’t be a rude asshole. Quit talking over people! The most avant garde thing about Stanley’s eclipse look was the mask. The rest looked like a poofy jumpsuit. Stanley’s talking head showed how much smarter and more mature he is than bitchy orange Josh. Kimberly’s neutron look was underwhelming. Her model was wearing a leotard with a gold bedazzled cape. And when she turned around, I was like DAMN. That leotard had her ass totally hanging out! Edmond’s quasar looked like a student’s idea of what avant garde should look like: a floor length gown with some weird shapes attached. PhoneCop February 23, 2018 Share February 23, 2018 What were the odds that on the same night, I'd be watching RuPaul docking points from Shangela for trying to pass off platters as a costume and then an hour later on a different channel, he'd be letting Anthony slide for the exact same thing? (Though to be fair, the rest of Shangela's outfit was essentially a giant wad of tinsel; Anthony's pants were at least sort of interesting.) 9 Link to comment

I thought the top 3 would be between Stanley (who I also would have picked as the winner), Fabio, Ken and Merline. I far prefer Kimberly to Joshua (both personality and design-wise), but I'll admit I find the latter's bitchiness entertaining. And, as much as I can't stand his aesthetic, at least it adds a... unique... viewpoint. As others have noted, Ru and JTF were both great judges - I kind of wish they had put them on different episodes since so many of the guest judges are sub-par. Also, can I just say how excited I am by the sheer number of black and brown contestants this season? It's such a rare sight on these types of reality TV shows, including Project Runway (although last season was awesomely diverse). So, who do folks think is likely to win at this point? Grandma Saracen February 25, 2018 Share February 25, 2018 I loved Fabio's idea, but I think it was a little subtle, and he lost me a bit with the braiding. I just love listening to his voice, too, and hope he goes on to win it. I'd love to see Anthony and Ken or Stanley in the final with him. I liked Stanley's design - I didn't 'get it' in the work room, but on the runway it made sense. I love the AG challenges in general, and this week didn't disappoint. I'm sorry Kimberly left, and I'm looking forward to both Josh and Merline leaving (I hope). Even if she doesn't leave, I don't think her collection would win... Anthony's top was too literal with the spin-art thing, but I think he's been meeting and reacting thoughtfully to the other challenges so far. It's nice to see. GoldaVining February 25, 2018 Share February 25, 2018 I agree with the judges that Kim's runway look wasn't great. Not based on sewing or design merit at all, but she has the prettiest face I have seen on my TV and I wasn't ready for her to leave. That said, I'm glad Josh wasn't sent home. I like him. If I was in that sewing room I hope he would come sit by me. His jizzy vest and fancy chaps were bonkers. Not Chris March level bonkers, but not boring. I wish they would send home Anne. rafibomb February 25, 2018 Share February 25, 2018 After reading the comments, I took another look at Fabio's to make sure I wasn't missing something- because I thought it was awful. It looked like an old lady's bathrobe that got mangled in the wash. I initially really loved Anthony's- it just had such great runway impact- but I do see the issue with the weird planet breastplate. I think those pants were the best item on the runway though. Joshua really lucked out that Kimberly sent her model out in a bathing suit and cape, essentially, because there was not a single good thing about his outfit. 9 Link to comment
enoughcats February 25, 2018 Share February 25, 2018 About the treatments Fabio did for the shoulders. Back when people did macrame (purses, plant holders, room dividers, I though all the knotting was really neat. But I was talking to a friend who had been a teenager in Germany during WWII, and she said she hated to see macrame anything. I asked why. She said that it reminded her of her childhood when the only handbags and belts and anything leather like anyone had was made by them by knotting macrame and she grew so tired and depressed seeing it every day, on everyone for years and years. She saw it and remembered poverty. 1 Link to comment
