You know, I had never thought of this but I think you are right! Danielle is the most obvious example. I mean, I loved Danielle. But she was so very clearly a fave of Kelli's. I don't know my DCC history well enough to know how many NJ/LI/NY girls have been on the roster over the years. Maybe there is a different energy from those candidates that Kelli responds to. Or maybe it's just that her interest is piqued by something a little different given that so many DCCs are TX natives.

The butt tutu thing has been going on at least since I started watching the show. Kitty telling Lacey that DCC would laugh at her for her outfit was mean and probably inaccurate. Simone wore practically the same thing, with some kind of bathing suit thing over her gold sequined bra. Now, it may be true that the outfit wasn't particularly flattering on Lacey, but I thought her original outfit looked better than what she wore for solos, as it emphasized her buff arms and quads while covering her rather svelte stomach. I found her charming and a good sport when she was talking to Anthony Ramos about it, which made me like her even more.

With all due respect, her not voting doesn't make her self absorbed though. It really has nothing to do with it. It's not why she may be a little self absorbed. She came across as ill informed. Not the same thing.

See post above.... being poorly informed or ignorant in regards to politics and choosing not to vote isn't really being self absorbed. 

 

Dayton had a huge wake up call.... which is awesome. Some never do.

A reminder, there is no requirement for consensus. People can hold differing viewpoints and opinions. And in the various efforts to convince, persuade, cajole, explain or any other variation trying to make someone agree, when it starts getting personal and snippy is when problems start. 

TL;DR--don't get snippy or make it personal when disagreeing.

Of course her not voting doesn't make her self absorbed, but her being self absorbed most certainly can be the reason she's uninformed and didn't bother to vote.  I don't recall saying (or seeing where anybody else said) it's the same thing.

When it comes to what causes vets to be cut, clearly they have known what their problems are as Kelli and Judy talk to them in the weeks prior to auditions so they have knowledge then and perhaps they might have even suggested this wasn't a fit and a girl tries out anyways.  We just don't know what issues a vet has had throughout the entire season that negates her continuing with the team in addition to what we see at auditions.

Thanks....did she bomb her interview? Yep! Does she know it? Yep & knew it when she walked out. Did she vote? Nope and she's not ashamed because she wasn't ready. She's 19 and there are grown adults in this country that have never voted. She said it on her last OTF..."I'll be back, stronger". Did my mom heart break? Of course, but it's a complete package. If a girl isn't ready, she's just not ready....regardless of her connections. #itsallgoodinthishouse

Good for both of you.  Like I said earlier, I didn't vote this past year either for various reasons.  It's not a crime!  I hope she does well next year.  She's still really young and may just need the extra year to be at her best.

Everyone has a right to their opinions, but I've been so sad to see the negativity on here about some of the girls, especially Kalyssa. I'll admit that I'm a teacher and work with adolescents and college students and they have brain farts like that all the time.  I believe she legitimately misunderstood the First Lady question.   She was humble and explained the confusion and directed her confusion to the person that asked the question. As far as being too cocky or into herself, what do we expect to see? Meek and mild does not a DCC make.  If you don't like the persona portrayed, consider the editing of CMT and acknowledge you are only seeing snippets of the real thing. I think she is gorgeous, a dynamo to watch, and appreciate all the girls on the show.  I love watching fellow ladies SHINE.  If she was a dude, he would be labeled a confident, star quality, etc.  Maybe her humbleness isn't coming through on the show but follow her on social media.  She's a small town girl made good and for that, I love her.

I TOTALLY agree with you!  Kalyssa gets so much hate on here and I just don't get it.  I think she is crazy gorgeous- in fact, I think she is the prettiest girl there.  I feel the same way about Tasha.  I love her too!

The debate about voting/not voting is the same as Caila being asked the question about Trump's wall.  Is it personal?  Of course.  Do they care who she voted for?  Probably not.  But this is their brand - they can emphasize anything they would like and ask any question they feel is important to the brand.  I can imagine this comes into play with their appearances and the risk of looking like a young, uninformed woman who doesn't even vote.  Again, this newfound political environment leads me to believe that these ladies might be asked political questions at least a few times in their DCC careers.  Obviously K&J REALLY like informed, involved women (do your homework, future hopefuls!).

I was surprised they didn't mention Popcorn Kelly -- she wasn't just a former finalist, she was actually in camp.  Her solo was a mess IMHO but they usually acknowledge (for good or bad) those who were in camp previously.

Just caught up with all the episodes so far this season. PLUS all the posts here pertaining to them.  Question:  I saw a close-up of that tall, young girl Brianna's face sheet when the judges were deliberating who would be invited to finals.  It said she was from Newark, Delaware (home of the University of Delaware - Go Blue Hens!).  On here, I see a lot of people referring to a Brianna from NJ.  Is this the same person?  Is she from Newark, New Jersey or Newark, Delaware?

Didn't she say she was far from New Jersey? Is her dance studio there maybe? How far are the two places from each other?

Bri lives in NJ but went to high school for the arts in Delaware.

It could have been editing, but the one thing that struck me about Dayton was that she didn't seem happy to be there. She came off flippant and when they would ban around the room, she was hunched in her chair looking bored. She didn't really seem like she wanted to make the team anywhere near as much as her mom did---and I found the editing where they constantly flipped from her to her mom really uncomfortable to watch.

I agree, but I think both her and Brianna were super stressed and shy and that's why they looked so bored/disinterested.

See, I actually respect her more for not voting. So many voters are completely uninformed. You actually have to know more about current affairs to pass the DCC interview than you do to vote. (it's actually pretty sad.)

At 19 I think she did very well and when she comes back next season, a little older, a little wiser and knowing what to expect, I think she's going to crush it! She's got all the potential. She just needed a trial run to get familiar with what it's like.

I like that so many of the candidates come back. Especially the younger ones who may just need a bit more experience before getting thrown into the deep end.

Re: the kicks. It's great and all that some can kick SOOOO high, but I would think uniformity would be more important. I get why Holly was kicking so ridiculously high, trying to make up for her top coming off (as if that was going to make them ditch one of their best dancers) but it stank of trying way too hard.

Christina isn't the only comeback girl. We have 3 other rookies this season that auditioned before at an earlier age....just not followed by the show.

What impresses me about Holly is that she never lets herself get complacent.  There have been squad members whose dancing stays "clunky" but they don't seem like they are trying to get better.  It's clear that Holly always looks to raise the bar. Every other girl in her audition group had their non kicking leg in a small plié ...or at least bent a little.  Holly was true 180.  Dahummm.

Holly's kicks shows how great she is!! I am sure she got a side eye from a few of the DCC when she is always dancing the best.  Human nature.  

Lacey's kicks are high too, and I was impressed with Kelsey's kicks this year!  Way to go! 

Kelli's kicks are always high and I remember from last year, her jump split was always perfect.  She could work her way into the triangle.

I like Brennan, personally.   I like Christina as a person and a dancer, but I do not believe she has what it takes to be a DCC.  Celinda blends to me.  But I really hope Brennan makes it this year!

On Holly: I liked the way she looked SO much better before her DCC makeover. She had this fresh-faced, clear eyed look to her. You can see it during her rookie season interview when she is talking to Charlotte. Whenever I see her, I just want to turn back the clock. The red hair and earth toned makeup do nothing for her, except make her look harsh.

Did anyone else notice Lacey (not vet; the one who said she read 50 Shades) say something like "I felt like I answered my one question really well" after interviews ?? Surely they asked her more than one question during her interview. I didn't really know what she meant by that. I can't imagine she only got asked one question.  Maybe I'm just misunderstanding her phrasing.

I was so sorry she did not make it! :( Seeing Lacey not get a training camp spot was disappointing to me. I really, really liked her a LOT.  I am sorry if I am repeating myself, but damn! :(

I liked Lacey but think she failed that question. You are supposed to be an ambassador for the team and America's sweetheart (even though yes, your job is to shake your cash and prizes for lecherous nfl fans) and to say the last books you've read were softcore porn is not going to win you any points. And then she was proud of herself? Um, no.
