susannot May 25, 2017 Share May 25, 2017 The Brad/Ozzy/Terry strategy will never win because, as Tai pointed out, it allows these big winners to condescend to and disregard non-winners, who will nevertheless be on the jury. Sarah DESERVED to be in the Final 3, however; there is absolutely no way she DESERVES to beat Brad. Five immunity challenge wins. But, Brad's social and strategic games were horrendous. He needlessly alienated jurors, not by voting them out, but by being gratuitously obnoxious to them. He also testified against himself when he was trying to bully Tai, by admitting that not one vote had gone as he had planned. He had no influence over the game, he just hung in by winning challenges He also made one of the most idiotic moves in history by bringing Sarah instead of Tai to FTC. He didn't even consider how his choice would affect his chances with the jury. Tai went against him and then wouldn't give into his bullying, so he had to go. 56 Link to comment

Seems to be that gender roles played a part in this final vote. I didn't mention one bit of her social game. Sarah articulated it beautifully. People focus on outplay as in "winning challenges." that's a part of Outplay. Brad's toolbox is about being physical and he outplayed using that. Sarah's toolbox is different and she outplayed using her surroundings and the information to make decisions (as she also pointed out every single player (I think except 1), she orchestrated the vote). In my mind that trumps five immunity wins. since the very beginning the show was never about winning more immunities than anyone else once you pass merge. sometimes that's respected (on top of everything else) but that shouldn't be the only factor.and I'm glad. 35 Link to comment

blackwing May 25, 2017 Share May 25, 2017 Brad made a huge mistake in keeping Sarah over Tai. Tai was the perfect goat. He did absolutely nothing in the game besides find two idols. He has zero sense of strategy and the fact that he cried because he thought he wasn't being treated fairly says a lot about his game. Brad could have talked to Tai in a nicer manner, but really, Tai had zero game. If someone comes up to him and says I'm going to take you to the final three, hey, he should have said yes sir thank you. I'm not sure why he thought it would be better to go up against Sarah in the final TC rather than Tai. Especially since the jury was filled with women who he saw got along with Sarah. If he had picked Tai, Brad would have gone to the final three with two goats and would have won the game. I did like the format of the final TC. Instead of each jury member getting up and having their "look at meeeeee" moment, it was more like a round table conversation. I know Cirie has been there four times, but it really does sound like Jeff was forever shutting the door on her coming back again. I really like Cirie, I wouldn't mind seeing her again. 9 Link to comment

Culpepper deserved to lose based on that pornstache alone. Who do I have to bribe/kill/seduce in order to get a season with no twists and zero idols? Because that first TC was ridiculous! Granted, I'm extra salty because it was Cirie who got idoled out of the game, but that would have been such a bullshit way to go out, no matter who it happened to. All those days of playing and strategizing and you can still get knocked out of the game, with ZERO votes, because of 4 different advantages...that needs to be fixed. All in all, not a great season imo. Losing Malcolm and Sandra before jury and then Ozzy shortly after really sucked. We were left with a competent but boring final 5. I still can't believe Troyzan made it to the final 3. That pretty much sums up the quality of this season. Sandra, as always, was my favourite part of the show. "Survivor is my job. Brad Culpepper all season, shoved Monica Culpepper down our throat, treated us to numerous confessionals about how much he'd changed and then completely trashed his edit in the final episode to prove he was the same condescending jerk he was the first time. That's not good storytelling. You're trying to show how certain people won and lost throughout the season. Not reinvent Keyser Soze. 22 Link to comment

This show would likely not be on if it was 16 people on an island that had to win immunities to survive. But it is just too much. And do they decide this at the start of the season? I remember hearing that they were going to do a tribe swap in Outback after the Maralyn vote, but Colby flipped and saved Keith/Tina, so they didn't. Why no tribe swap when Ulong was horribly (and sometimes hilariously) decimating themselves? And I really wonder what prompted this new jury panel this season. I know Probst says it's because of the KR finale, but why not do it for MvsGX first? Or was this a way to keep the heat off of Brad (I'll take my tinfoil hat off now). I remember that (re: Australia) but they liked the idea and brought it to Africa. I just thought it was so unfair because Silas was royally screwed. I hated Silas and the whole PlaySkool/OldSkool schism -but i remember thinking - Smokes that's so unfair to that guy. but damn that's a great twist. haha I remember Ethan being mad to thinking about it). so when they did it again - they realised they had to switch everyone. (in season 4). I think the Ulong thing was basically. "let's see how bad this can get". It's never happened since then either. and I kind of liked it. like "We will not save you." (I've always kinda wanted to see an Ulong 2 and we've been close but then tribe switches happen). When were the filming dates for KR/MvsGX they could have implemented it - but I do think (gag me with my spoon) this is a "game change" so why not keep it for the forced theme of the show. No way should the person who has zero votes and does not choose to draw rocks be sent home. I don't know about that. The first thing I thought about when I heard of the new tie = rock draw rules was that a savvy player could use that to their advantage. If they can figure out who on their side is getting a certain number of votes and arrange a tie (or two) making those people immune, throw in the immunity necklace and possibly an immunity idol, and you could essentially have one or two people left who are the only ones eligible to draw rocks (and thus go home). It would be complex and take balls, but it could work, and it should be allowed IMO because someone has to do a lot of strategy (and white-knuckling) to get that result. The question is if there's a scenario where that's easier and less wasteful of idols than simply managing to put available votes on the person you want to send home. So... it sucked for Cirie, but IMO the problem was too many idols all at once, not what happens if they whittle it down to one unprotected person. Other things... I liked the new FTC format. Fewer stupid jury questions this way. Brad looked despondent at the Reunion. I'd guess he was really upset at the way he came off. Hint to Brad: If you're trying to make a case that you really love and respect a man, don't bodily pick him up like a child when you hug him. *sigh* I don't think Brad is evil, but I really don't think he realizes how he sounds sometimes. (Whoever said he looked like their history teacher, I said math teacher, but yeah. He was channeling a high school teacher there.) 13 Link to comment
