Do the Caldwells have the usual fundie website or Facebook presence? If so, someone should play fundie and ask Mrs. Caldwell about her feelings on home birth v. hospital birth. I'm sure Kendra will choose whatever her mother did.

They are under "Paul-Christina Caldwell" on FB.

I know it's probably mentioned here somewhere, but how old are Kendra's parents?

She's so perky and happy. I hope she's that way when she's a 40 year old Grandma who's probably still popping out little Duggars. ??????????????????? ?

According to the almighty interwebz the Caldwell’s are in the 39-40 YO range. Which means Mama C could easily have another 5-10 years of baby birthing before she is done.

Wasn't Kendra the cause of a shotgun wedding?

I believe her parents married in January 1998 and Kendra was born in August 1998. They were both around 19 or 20, so I'm guessing they had a shotgun wedding and a little premie baby ?.

When Michelle was Christina C's age that was approximately the time that she had Johannah, and is twice as many kids as the Caldwells. So it's totally plausible that Christina may have more but she won't get up to Michelle's number. It's plausible that Kendra could take after Christina and have a baby every three years or so, which was kind of the pace Christina had on average. Kind of like Anna, who is one out of only eight kids as well.

10 years! Not really! Most women have enough trouble having babies in their early forties. It's hard to next impossible for most women to have a baby past 45. Yes there are stories and exceptions, but those standout as outliers. Celebrity women often have IVF or other fertility treatments.  She could have another five years, but even those may not be "easy".

It's also possible that as fundie as Mrs. Caldwell is; she still has decided not to have more babies.

Bizarre to be what?  23-24, and look older than your 39? year old FIL.

I'm still thinking JoKen are the happiest couple, of all the married Duggars, at least at present.  Seems like Joe will be the type of husband that will let his wife decide how many and how often to have kids.  I hope so, anyway.

So - 1) Mom Caldwell, why did you let someone put your name tag on top of your hair?

2) Kendra is looking soooo much better than her sister in laws during pregnancy - healthier and better dressed.

3) Props to Kendra and Joe - Joe is wearing clothing that not only seems to fit him it's - *gasp! shock!* IRONED!  Notice the creases on his pants.  That puts him about 1,000 steps ahead of Derelick, Ben and all the other Dugger boys.

Rememeber that Kendra still has 2 1/2 months to go. Let's see how she looks when she's ready to pop, THEN compare her to the Duggar girls who all took the skintight teeshirt route late in the game.

The name tag is on her shirt, under her hair.

LATE in the game? Joy was doing the tight T-shirt routine when she announced her pregnancy. Probably Jill, too, but I don't remember.

Joy looked like hell in a dress three sizes too LARGE for her when she made the rounds announcing her pregnancy to the family. She should have saved THAT schmatta for month 9.

I'm thinking of that photo from the first news stories, the one where she and Nostrils are on the deck. Wasn't her shirt pretty tight, or did it just look like that because of her endowment (or curse, depending on how you look at it)?

That was the public announcement when she was around 14 weeks. I'm talking about when she announced to her family, much sooner in her pregnancy.

Was that on the show? I don't have cable, so I haven't seen the show in a few years.

Yes, the public announcement with the ice cream was different (and much later) than the family announcements they showed on the episode. That day, she texted and visited various family members to share the news. At that point, they got one positive test, then took another "to be safe" before breaking the news. I doubt she was more than 6 weeks along.

And neither Kendra nor Joe looks like they smell, so that's a bonus.

While Kendra looks too young to be married and having a child, her mom and dad also look a little too young to be grandparents. They could potentially spit a few more out and they’d probably be perfectly healthy pregnancies. My grandma and great grandma were pregnant at the same time TWICE, so I have no room to talk I guess.

Nostrils! Bwahahaha!

The married Duggar sons and in-laws: Smuggar/Fuckface, Derelict/Dreck, Bin, JereME, Nostrils...and, well, Joe, because compared to the others there isn't much to snark about with him.

I was looking at the pictures from Kendra's baby shower on the TLC site. Not much to look at. Looks like they played some sort of baby food game involving the couples. Jana is emceeing the game while holding Baby Gideon in her arms. That girl doesn't get a break even if she does love babies. I'm sure someone else could have held him.

BTW, I thought Kendra looked nice wearing a non-clingy type of maternity shirt.  Both her & Jinge look much more polished and are putting Jill & Jessa to shame in their choices of maternity wear. (I love Jinge 's dress she wore at the baby reveal.)

I've always wondered, does Jana really like babies or does everyone assume that because people are always shoving children into her arms? Just from my observation, she seems more resigned than enthused while holding little ones.

I agree both Kendra and Jinger are carrying pregnancy beautifully. Aside from the cuter, more stylish clothing they look like they actually bathe regularly and swipe a comb through their hair. Jill, Jessa and Joy look greasy and disheveled, pregnant or not.

Did Joe attend Alert?  I was under the impression that it was a special training academy for junior cadets.  I distinctively remember the episode, because I couldn’t recall ever seeing Jinger and Joe converse and yet here she was with tears streaming down her face repeating over and over, “I just want to hug him.” It was at that moment that I realized that we are only shown what they want us to see.

Joe seems easy going and good natured.  Kendall is a lucky girl!

creeped me out she kept saying "where's my man, where's my man" while looking thru the crowd  hunting her soldier that's been away on a tour or something.......

I think resigned too. Michael Bates always looks happy to be holding a baby and Jana never really does. She just knows she will.

It depends a lot on when you start. When women try to conceive for the first time in their late 30s/early 40s, it can be tough, but statistically women who have had a bunch of successful pregnancies tend to have an easier time conceiving at an older age. In my fundy church, most of the women with big families had a few into their 40s. One had her last at 47, although he did have a genetic defect. But others went until 43 or 45 with no trouble.

I think Jana does genuinely like holding babies. She seeks it out, I have noticed. Not at all defending their lifestyle in general and she probably does feel trapped as the last sister mom, but I do believe her enjoyment of babies is real.

Yes it's possible and it depends on the individual woman, but most women statistically can't have too many babies past 40, and almost all women stop having babies at 45.

Agreed! I just think it's interesting that birthing babies all along does make conceiving more likely into your early 40s. I have a friend dealing with infertility at close to 40 and she has mentioned that a lot of well-meaning women will encourage her by saying "I had my last at 41," etc. But it's not very encouraging because it's harder to try to have your first at 41.

Back to Mrs. Caldwell, as far as I know they are solidly in the "trusting god with the size of our family" camp.

A 40 year old woman who has never been pregnant has about a 5% chance of conceiving naturally within the 6 month window we give women at that age before considering them to have a fertility problem.

Oldest woman I ever delivered : 54.  She was also the last person I ever delivered who was older than I was at the time.  And, no, of course it was not her own egg.  She used an egg from a 21 year old donor which was combined with her husband's sperm.  The specialists then pumped her full of hormones since she was already menopausal.  When you hear about celebs in their mid-late 40's having babies; you can be almost certain that they used donor eggs from a 20 something.  Same reason why so many older celeb moms have twins when compared to the rest of us peasants. Oldest mom I've ever known about locally was 57, having her second child after giving birth the previous year.  Years ago, there was a 54 year old woman in the Pacific Northwest who gave birth to identical triplets who were conceived naturally.  She already had a bunch of kids and multiple grandkids, too.  It made the news. I remember because her high risk specialist was someone I had worked with at one point.

What would be the odds of a woman who has been pregnant?

I'm curious why the odds increase for a later in life pregnancy for a woman who had a previous pregnancy. Other than knowing she didn't have fertility issues when younger, the sperm still needs to swim to a released egg. Why do the odds change?

I remember an old study that showed women over 40 who've already got a kid having about a 1 in 3 chance of conceiving.

The overall rate of pregnancy in 40 year olds is around 20%, if you figure that includes women who've previously conceived whether naturally or via fertility treatments as well as those who've never been pregnant, then a lot of those are women who've already given birth before.  The overall rate of pregnancy of 30 year olds is around 80%, so, for all women, the odds decrease rapidly between 30 and 40.  BTW, by age 43 or so, the overall fertility rate drops from 20% to around 3 %.

I don't know for sure, but certainly the lack of previous fertility issues has got to be part of it.

Isn’t there also a possibility that the pool of women who get to age 40 without having been pregnant is selecting for women with fertility problems?

I thought of that, but the numbers are there even when you properly take into account that possibility. This article speaks to it and is interesting. https://parenting.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/08/15/infertility-less-likely-in-women-with-children/

That's interesting about the pregnancy odds.  My sister must be a Fertile Myrtle like Mechelle or just lucky - she had her first baby at 37 & 2nd at 42 with no problems conceiving.  It didn't take me long to get pregnant either but then again I was 27.

A friend of mine who just had her first at 36, and took a couple of years of trying to get pregnant, she said her aunt (who is not a doctor, so probably making shit up) told her she read that women’s eggs age faster if they’ve never been pregnant, making them less viable. Supposedly the pregnancy hormones help keep the other eggs in better condition. - which is an interesting theory, but i’m not sure how accurate it would be.

Back to Joe & Kendra, they do seem to like each other, and I hope they stop after only a few kids.

It looks like Joe & Kendra tell the news of the pregnancy by showing a crib or nursery set up in one of the log cabin's rooms on the TLC clip of the upcoming season. Did they really go out & purchase a crib when she was probably just 6 weeks along? Ok, maybe she was further along, don't remember when they announced it, but still isn't that just a little weird? There is a good chance of miscarriage at that point. Even tho they would try again, I know I wouldn't want to have a crib in the next room (in the early part of a pregnancy) as a reminder if that did happen. Part of me thought it was kind of cute showing a nursery as the pregnancy reveal on their house tour but the more I thought about it, the more the Nervous Nellie about pregnancy what ifs came out in me. Maybe I'm totally wrong about the whole thing but that's how I interpreted what I saw on the clip.

I’m sure the nursery set-up was a gift or loan from TLC/production. The Duggars aren’t bright enough to come up with these lame scenarios, I think it’s scripted by TPTB and the Duggs just do as they’re told including the rest of the family who surely already knew she was knocked up before filming.

Considering how long Jill and Jessa waited to put together their nurseries I'm surprised Joe and Kendra moved that fast to get a crib.
