What I don't get about Derick is why he just doesn't own up to his Tweets. He was outright egregiously rude to Jazz and the transgender community. If he really believes his spiel about loving the sinner, hating the sin then where's his apology for calling out Jazz directly? If his has a paying job now, say what it is. If he quit TLC, just say so.

All the cryptic, can't be fired from a job you don't have, and saying he's worked since age 2, along with his denial of previous Jazz Tweets are kind of ridiculous. He needs to stand by his beliefs and Tweets. If he's a hateful religious zealot then he needs to own it. If he has regrets about spewing his beliefs in a direct and hateful way, then he needs to apologize.

Drek just loves to play little word games and it's really starting to piss me off.

He tweets this nasty, outrageous crap then refuses to take responsibility for it, getting all disingenuous and denying what he's being called out for because there is some "flaw" in how his behavior has been characterized. Like how he denies attacking Jazz. He was called out for "bullying" but he seems to be hiding behind the notion that since he didn't directly address Jazz herself it's not technically bullying ... thus the blanket denial of everything (which makes him look like a nut). But he knows what people are getting at.  He knows exactly what they mean. It's just such a chicken shit little game to play.

He did the same thing with the whole "fired/quit" discussion. He obviously knows exactly what went down with TLC and he has it within his capacity to explain it. He just doesn't want to.  Instead he plays little word games about, saying "well it wasn't this, it wasn't that" all cryptic and coy, finding one little thing that was said to dispute and ignoring the larger point. You know what happened, Derek ...  just say it. Just freakin' SAY IT.  Obviously he doesn't want to, which suggests to me that it must not be a very flattering story.  And he knows it. Like he knows he was picking on a kid with his trans hate. He knows it. He just doesn't have the guts to own any of it. So he plays these stupid little games, like it actually changes the reality of what he posts or what went on with the show.  But it doesn't.

Derek you picked on a CHILD, cruelly and publicly (biting the hand that fed you in the process), and it cost you your job. As well it should have. It amuses me to no end that Jazz still has her show while you and that third grader you are married to sit at home trying to convince people you're good with it. You're obviously not or you wouldn't be redefining the term "judgmental sanctimonious prickwad" everyday. Because if you were really happy you'd be off spreading love and light instead of anger and negativity.

I think it was Jill Cling A Long and JB who put the idea in his head about his fellow female coworkers defrauding him right and left. I also think Jilly and JB had something to do with him either getting fired or leaving Wal Mart because *gasp* Jill could not spend five minutes without him glued to her side, and JB did not want him working for someone else aka less control he can have over his first son-in-law. This is my opinion, and I stand by it.

This is exactly what I've been thinking, but you were able to express it perfectly!

His boss at WalMart said "I don't think this is working out. Don't plan on returning after your vacation" instead of "you're fired, get out!" so he wasn't technically "fired by WalMart."

SOS said "I don't think this is working out. You haven't converted anyone and you still can't speak Spanish. Don't plan on coming back after your vacation." instead of "you're fired! Get out!" so he wasn't technically fired by SOS.

TLC said "We won't be renewing your contract and won't be filming you in the upcoming season of Counting On" but they never said "you're fired" so he wasn't technically fired by TLC.

He never specifically insulted Jazz. He mocked her gender identity, insulted her parents, and mocked the television show bearing her name, but did not technically insult Jazz directly. So, hey, everything's okay! He's not a mean, petty guy who went out of his way to troll a child!

Don't you have to get get people's permission to use their image that way? She is a minor attending a school function, you know. Not a professional model or even an adult in a public place. She deserves some kind of consideration, it would seem. 

Yeah, I know ... this is a small and perhaps petty point. But since Drek is a small and petty person, I thought it was fair to bring it up. I just can't stand the guy and I'm incapable of cutting him any slack.  He doesn't deserve it. Not until he drops the superior, judgey, snide, smug, condescending attitude. FWIW, I sign a form at the beginning of the year releasing my kids image for the school to use. It basically covers pictures taken during school activities and posted on the school Facebook page. I can always choose to not allow and I doubt Derrick knows about any of that. But I'm guessing many parents sign those forms nowadays. It doesn't mean it covers Derrick posting it, but there may have been release form from the school.

That's interesting, frenchtoast. I don't remember doing that for my daughter but it's been years and times change. 

But ginger90 makes a good point about who took the picture.  It looks like a snap Drek (or someone) took from the audience, not a school activity photo taken by the school personnel or the like. And his Twitter account is most definitely not a "school use" type thing. He published it for his own personal (self promotion) purposes.  I doubt any school-generated release form would make that okay.
