I'm 40 and I still make those! I have the best thing Sears ever sold, a microwave with an electric pizza oven in the bottom, it's a pull out drawer. I can bake anything in there, as long as it doesn't rise too much. English muffin pizza, chicken, fries, cookies, city chicken nuggets, anything relatively flat. I split a muffin, add pizza sauce from a squeeze bottle, cheese and toppings, 12 minutes, and dinner is served! I'm going to cry when it breaks, Sears doesn't sell them anymore. They had awesome reviews, but even like 7 years ago it was $300 which is still pretty pricy for a microwave. But I will say, it has been worth every penny. I'm single, hence the english muffin pizza qualifying as dinner, and I don't make giant meals, so I use it for everything. I decided to make meatloaf about a month ago and it had been so long since I used my real oven, I had to stand in front of if for a few seconds to even remember how to turn it on and then wonder if it would even turn on or explode in a ball of flames from a long unused gas line. I use the burners, but it had seriously been at least 2 years since I turned the oven on. Between the microwave, George Foreman, and a crockpot, I had no reason to. 7 Link to comment
birkenstock January 26, 2017 Share January 26, 2017 Derick is an all around shitty person. I actually know a woman who homeschools because of the heathen liberal public school ageenda. They're not even very religious, just weird. She doesn't want her children to be exposed to abortion, recruited to be gay or to be forced to speak Spanish. She had four boys (who cannot physically have an abortion). If one of them is gay, it's not because he joined the ( fictional) gay club in elementary school. They also live on a farm, and hire migrant/transient workers every summer, so Spanish would be really practical to learn. If any of those workers are illegal, I guess they don't count when a "big wall needs built to keep them out." Anyway.....her father is a school bus driver. He lives on the same farm in anther house. So every morning he leaves to drive heathen children to their doom, and she doesn't see the irony in that. She and her husband also fought the school board to have her boys be able to play high school basketball while being homeschooled. He can't go to school because learning will corrupt him, but he can be exposed to the 'jock life' and never hear a cuss word, locker room talk, etc? Reeling it back in to Duggarland, this woman is as illogical as Jill. She actually does remind me of Jill. Thinks she's an expert on everything and always spouting off 'facts' that she can't back up with any real source, and most of them contradict each other. 15 Link to comment

GeeGolly January 27, 2017 Share January 27, 2017 I'm not fond of facial hair, but even less so when it appears mangy like @Arwen Evenstar said. With a little effort he could clean it up a little. His caption though - I hope it was meant for snarkers, because otherwise it's a bit odd. Parents are kind of, sort of, supposed to enjoy spending time with their kids. And it's kind of a requirement. I know that no one on these boards mean any harm, but I am a steadfast advocate for folks with mental illness. To emphasize another thing @Arwen Evenstar said, no one can look mentally ill. Subtle and not so subtle changes in appearance, along with changes in thoughts, mood and behaviors might point to mental illness, but as I'm sure you all know, many well groomed attractive folks are walking around fighting and managing all kinds of mental illnesses. Just doing my part to ease the stigma. 18 Link to comment

Can't really blame him. I wish they'd made it part of their story because it could get them sympathy if done correctly but on the other hand his choices might just end up appearing to be as foolish as Muffy's home birth. The elephant in the room regarding his appearance just makes me uncomfortable. eta: They might also take pictures before he eats because food gets caught up in his braces and then we'd be snarking on that. Don't like the oddball but I'm willing to cut him some slack re his hair and dining photos. Edited January 27, 2017 by Almost 3000 7 Link to comment
