  1. Exactly. I'm thinking of Patricia Heaton as a contrast. She's a conservative Christian (although not a Trump fan), but she doesn't tweet racial slurs or Parkland conspiracy theories. Her show just went off the air after 9 seasons...and it was the producers who ended it, not ABC.
  2. I weirdly thought of "Matthew McConaughey starring in a Bill Nye biopic."
  3. Did anyone else notice Leah's defensiveness when a reader asked how Scientology affected her parenting? She was adamant that it had no affect. But, like the reader who submitted a question, I also remembered reading an interview with her when she was a Scientologist, when she spoke approvingly of their parenting philosophy. She didn't say that kids were small adults who were filled with Thetans, or anything like that, but more benign stuff (the kind of stuff Paul Haggis spoke about, rational-sounding beliefs that would be used to lure people in). Anyway, I wonder if now that she realizes how dangerous Scientology is, she's kind of minimizing the impact it had on her child.
  4. I got the final because the clue mentioned becoming a state in 1805. I knew it couldn't be very far west, but also couldn't be one of the original 13 colonies. I tried Maine first and then landed on Vermont.
  5. The category was all words beginning with Z. If you were half-watching the show I can see missing it. I can't believe none of the contestants knew a musician whose name starts with Z and who sang a song about werewolves.
  6. Same, kind of a Beth Littleford/Nancy Carell combo. A Daily Show thing, I guess.
  7. And here I thought Tom and LuAnn had a marriage of convenience where they could both see other people, and Lu just didn't want to state it on TV. I guess she did think it was real, or convinced herself it was.
  8. I actually really enjoyed Ramona's shock followed by happiness at seeing the surprise party. Seemed like a genuine, unfiltered reaction. I like when you see the women in real, unguarded moments, rather than either stage-managing their image in an interview, or deliberately stirring up drama for camera time. And I didn't realize how much I missed Heather until she showed up. Holla!
  9. The renewal announcement really clarified my feelings about the show. My reaction wasn't, "Yea, two more seasons!"; it was, "Oh God, two more seasons?" Then I realized, why am I still watching? I think I assumed it would be ending this year, so I might as well stick around to see them wrap things up. I'm not going to watch two more seasons when I only like maybe a third of the episodes at this point.
  10. I like Annie. I can totally see her behind a bar, actually.
  11. I'll be totally honest with you. I've been on the show. In my mind, I was indeed signing up for that! After all, I was being *paid* to appear on *national television*--not competing in pub trivia. That means I made an informed decision to put myself in the public eye. I simply avoided message boards and Twitter that day (I came in second, so only had one appearance). If any viewers had unfavorable opinions of me, I never found out!
  12. Derick's appearance reminds me of the Arrested Development storyline where Tobias had Graft Vs. Host disease. I guess, per the comments upthread, Jill could be considered the graft.
  13. For FJ, I very confidently said, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? NAILED IT!" Didn't realize my mistake until Alex read the answer. I also don't understand why Moonies wasn't accepted--definitely expected a correction, but then forgot about it until others mentioned it here.
  14. The farm was an inheritance, right? She probably inherited money also.
  15. I think it was their friend Courtney--I've seen her in some of their Instagram pics. I think she's been in the background on the show before, but for some reaosn they never "introduce" her to the audience.
