  There was a news item about a male prostitution website, rentboy dot com being raided and shut down just this week. Seems the page has been up for a few years, it's obviously for the purpose of sex for hire in jurisdictions where that is illegal, but the govt never went after it until now. I couldn't help but wonder if the timing had something to do with the AM scandal.

  The agents no doubt seized what documents they could and there may be some prominent names in the customer database.

  The same site dragged a founding member of Family Research Council's board into scandal years ago.

A board member in fact, who focused almost exclusively on antigay activism and promoting the view that gays and lesbians are unfit to parent. He also ran a blog on youth sex issues called TeenSexToday.com. Gotta say, if I saw that domain name on my browser and didn't know what it was for, I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pool.

There's a lot wrong with it, in my opinion, but since that's off topic for this thread I'll leave it at that. :)

A valid opinion and one I held for much of my life. Where I stand now is that I believe there is a huge difference between a lot of the free amateur stuff (real regular people in their bedrooms) versus the professional garbage that demeans and objectifies women. To me it's like the difference between binge drinking and having a glass of wine. Both are alcohol but one is super unhealthy and the other is fine for most people. Still, I know it can become an addiction and become unhealthy to the point where the addict has unrealistic expectations.

 

This is so far beyond porn, though, which alone would have devastated Anna. I am inclined toward believing the woman who came forward. When Josh said he was unfaithful, I think he meant it literally, and not just "in his heart." Anna will never leave but she must still be reeling. 

 

Very interesting about the flight to Chicago. Anna spending time with Priscilla and David does seem a likely option. There are probably media camped out in Arkansas, and those two will supply her with plenty of Gothard Kool-Aid.

Anna wouldn't go to Chicago without her children.  Anna and the kids wouldn't be able to fit in JD's plane.  It's probably JB and Michelle for a speaking engagement.

OK so I had to google what MILFy was all about and whether or not Josh is all into that it might make sense being that Michelle's fertility was constantly focused on and we all know how JB likes to comment endlessly on his marriage sexuality in front of his kids.  JB also seems to look at his sons competitively in a weird way.  Anyway, Josh is obviously looking for sexual satisfaction outside of his marriage and has been by his own admission doing that for years.  He had one day of apology compared to  years of a double life.

I really feel that in this cult people know things that are going on with other members but they keep it within the cult.  I think that  not only did Pa Keller know about Josh's internet porn habit but JB & Michelle did too.  They try to keep it from going public but when it does the apologies come out and they're not as mad at the person as they are at the media responsible for making it known.  I still call BS on JB & Mechelle's statement of 'when we found out late last night'.  BS.   Pa Keller made David Waller put the internet usage promise as the second most important thing for a reason, he knew about Josh. This cult keeps secrets and tries to keep them secrets.  They prefer to deal with things 'in house' as they call it.

I know plenty of kids in public schools who get these wrong all the time. Grammar is barely taught in many public schools in this country.

As a retired teacher I can attest to the fact that grammar IS taught (at least in my school).  It just seems it's not important to some students.  I spent hours correcting grammar mistakes in compositions.  It's/its, your/you're, affect/effect, than/then (my husband still asks me about that one!) to/two/too and so on.  I'm not sure why kids can't master these, unless as I just wrote, it is not as important to them as texting their friends (don't get me started on text spelling!).  I found that kids would learn the differences for a test but not apply them in their writing.  I doubt home schooling is solely responsible.

So, the Duggar plane flew to Chicago last night. Was it to deliver Smuggles to Gothard rehab or to send Anna into the indoctrinated bosom of her sister Priscilla? I am pretty sure it's the latter. The other sisters are all out of Gothardism in their fashions.

Can you tell us where they landed. We can than figure out if it was near to Gothard Headquarters.

I don’t exactly trust tabloid polygraph tests. 1) they aren’t always accurate under the best circumstances anyway 2) a lot of room for less than 100% truthful massaging of the results by tabloids who want to sell copies 3) Still a lot of room for exaggerated quotes after the fact, even if the "did you have sex with him" is true.

That said, yikes. Doesn’t exactly match with his more vanilla profiles but it wouldn’t surprise me that the mind set that these men have when they cheat that they think sex workers are for terrifying anyway, being whores and all (not my opinion).

Now I understand why Jim Bob did not want Josh to take the FRC job.  I was a little confused by it since it would be promoting their values and their politics.  But he was concerned about having Josh outside his sphere of influence.  This stuff started while he was still in Arkansas and I wonder if his folks knew about some of it.

Gah! Gold Club in Philadelphia! That place is a teeny little dump!  Like it's literally the size of a one bedroom apartment. (I think there might be a second location though? Maybe that one's the size of a 2-bedroom!) Which some people find charming, I guess (charming strip club? Okay.). But it doesn't seem like a logical place to go if you have a somewhat recognizable face...although there's probably not too many people at the strip club watching the Duggars, ha! 

This morning Good Morning America reminded me that Anna is just trying to "be understanding" because in her world it is "ungodly for a woman to show anger." My head exploded. I mean, I knew they thought that, but being reminded of it first thing in the morning was a bit too much for my pre-coffee self. I can't wrap my head around not being able to show some anger at your husband banging prostitutes while you waddle around 8 months pregnant, taking care of all the other kids and still getting his stupid (giant, I assume) plate of dinner on the table on time. How could she keep all that in? I'm desperately hoping it's all an act and she's shredding him to pieces when no one else is around. 

 

I was also thinking to myself how utterly alone I would feel if my father's response to that situation was "Well, you should just try to make it work." :'( Poor Anna. At times I don't feel too bad for her because she's an adult and she can leave. But then I think how horrible it would feel to have the people that are supposed to love you tell you have no right to stick up for yourself, no right to have feelings, no right to have an opinion about your own health and well-being (or your children's, for that matter), and, also, your own dad (Or whoever else. I'm very lucky to have a really really great dad, that's why the dad thing sticks out to me) doesn't give a flying fuck that you're roped to a cheating sack of shit that exposes you and your children to the risk of all sorts of diseases. I'm really glad her brother is sticking up for her - I don't love the way he went about it, but I think it's highly likely he's the only person in her life that actually has her back.

I know. My parents' reaction when I separated from my serial-cheater husband was "you're just going to give up?" It really makes you start to question your worth. And, once that starts happening, you cease to give a shit about what happens to you, you just want to get through the day without having a breakdown. I have no doubt that Anna's existence right now is internal crisis management every waking moment of her day. I hope her brother doesn't give up on her.

As a parent of three girls I am trying to imagine what it will be like when a man comes into her life and they plan to marry. I'm sure there will be all kinds of things I'll worry about them dealing with- job, place to live, whether they want kids or not, etc.... There is no way my concerns would be getting them to agree not to use birth control and to control each other's internet. In fact if I found out her boyfriend wanted her to keep him accountable for something like that I'd urge her to break it off.

I took one for the team and went to Josh's Instagram account to see if he was dumb enough to post evidence of being in Philly back in the early spring.  Did not find anything, but wow, every single post has comments calling him a disgusting pig.  Why the hell does he not close the account?  Or at least go private? I am just baffled.

 

Apparently there is some sort of fundie rehab facility near Gothard headquarters.  Maybe Josh went there?  Guessing In Touch reached out to him for a comment before the story broke so he knew it was coming.  Jim Bob probably went ballistic and sent him packing.  I would bet anything they are hoping for some "exclusive interview" after rehab- the beginning of the "Josh Redemption Tour".

The woman said that she had unprotected sex with Josh. If she is telling the truth, then Josh didn't even care about Anna and the baby enough to use protection. I hope that someone in that family realizes that Anna must be tested for STDs immediately.

We'll know whether or not the stripper was telling the truth if there are only crickets rather than a forceful denial in response. The no condom sounds like Josh. Wearing a condom would, in his feeble mind, be a greater sin than engaging in rough sex for pay with a stripper who appears in porn. Utterly predictable that anyone Josh banged would soon cash in bigtime.

As for Pa Keller, he doesn't care who he marries his kool aid swallowing daughters off to as long as he can be freed from supporting them and they never come back. Esther's married to a self-styled missionary who hasn't established a stable home for a wife and 8 Biblically named offspring. He gave his blessing to Priscilla marrying TFDW, knowing full well that if David sought out porn on the internet, he wouldn't be looking at photos of women. And then there's Josh. Even after admissions of child abuse, porn addiction, and adultery, Pa Keller's apparently fine with Anna being a humiliated doormat. So far the brother seems to be the only one who gives a shit what happens to her.

I think this is spot on. These men know what is going on and choose to ignore it. I also don't believe they care as much as they act like they do. To be sure they care when someone gets caught and shines a negative light on their "perfect" world. But the actual activity? They don't care about that. Men can do what they want. They aren't concerned with the feelings of the women. It's their job to forgive and forget. 

 

When JB and Michelle say things like 'found out late last night' I think they are practicing "Obi-wan' truth telling. It's true.... from a certain point of view. They may have found out late that night that Josh had an account on that particular site and it was going to be made public. So they consider their comment the truth. But the real truth is that they knew he does this kind of stuff even before he married Anna.

That would require Joshy have actual internet access. I doubt JimBoob is letting him anywhere near a computer or phone right now - which means Joshy can't close the account.

Maybe some like Josh get off on feeling that they're being martyred, never mind that the comments are because of bad behavior and not simply because he has different beliefs.

Or didn't know how to use them.

His ear was likely completely safe from STDs after putting one on.

Maybe Josh has been banned from using his phone and accessing the internet. But surely Jim Bob, as image-conscious as we all know him to be, would have had enough sense to shut down Josh's social media accounts?  Guess he subscribes to the " there is no such thing as bad press" school of thought.

 

And seriously? Josh is a 27 year old man.  The thought that Daddy is still calling all the shots is just so wrong.

 

Josh has done a lot of terrible things, and he is 100% responsible for his choices. But did it ever occur to Jim Bob and Michelle that maybe if he had been allowed a normal childhood and adolescence, he would not have gone down that path?

If true, what woman in her right mind would have unprotected sex in a situation like that? Isn't she concerned she may have caught something from Josh?  Unless, I guess, she's already got something, and it can't get any worse.

I'm not so sure I believe the Daily Fail article. Scandals like these always bring bottom feeders out of the woodwork, looking for their fifteen minutes of fame. Not to mention polygraphs aren't foolproof and largely depend on the skill/experience of the person administering the test.

If Josh was actually in Philly during that time, I'll be suspicious, but right now I'm taking it with a grain of salt.
