And lawyers. Prescription meds and lawyer ads should be banned. And I certainly wouldn't mind a ban on candidates' TV ads.  (Not a political statement - just a wish list of ads to be banned.)

I haven't seen any Morgan & Morgan commercials lately, but there's what i assume to be a local law firm with the lawyers pretending to be sitting around a coffee table and reading letters from satisfied clients. Their banter is awful too: "Or lil' Kimmie is quite a pitbull when she gets on a case!" "I wouldn't want to be opposing Kimmie in court!"

I console myself with the thought that all those (over)actors better not have made any plans for later that day with all the Haribo candies they had to eat filming that commercial.

Those Haribo actors sounds like they're mentally disabled children.

In my revenge fantasy, the production assistant hated the premise of the commercial as much as I did and took special care to buy the giant-sized bulk bags of sugarless gummies.

Hey now, it could be that doctor from the Lumē commercials instead of a man!

I just saw the Poligrip denture cream commercial, the woman is going to eat popcorn, but starts talking in a British accent, and then goes to use Poligrip.  I fail to see the connection, or how it makes anyone want to try that denture creme.

It bugs me because I have never in my life, met a kid who wanted mushrooms on their pizza.

Me and two of my siblings.  And I met lots of kids in Italy who wanted fungi pizza.

Pineapple on pizza is an abomination.

What's the deal with all these Brits in American ads suddenly?

Always wanted mushrooms.  Pineapple? That's Communist pizza!

They always star in the generic Viagra commercials too & stupid GPS voice is also. Trying to make them sound classy perhaps?

Is it weird in the actual commercial (I've never seen it)?  I just figured it was wonky in that YouTube video posted upthread because it's not an upload of the actual commercial, it's an upload of video someone took - presumably with their phone - of the commercial airing on their TV.

Yeah it looks like a made for TV movie from the '80s or something.

Okay, so I just noticed something watching the full version of the ad. Has anyone else noticed that the shortened version (posted above, and the only one I had previously seen) has a continuity error?

Shortened:

Full:

In the shortened version, they show a girl with a bandanna on her head is shown getting mesmerized by the the phone. My interpretation was this was supposed to be one of the rumored incidents the girl with the hoop earrings is talking about. But the girl wit the bandanna is actually sitting at the table and gets mesmerized after they all run away.

Why do these phones keep calling themselves "Z" things? I have seen Z Flip and Z Fold. But neither looks like what a "Z fold" looks like in my brain; they both appear to fold only once (though I, admittedly haven't paused the TV and looked closely, and I am thinking about it in terms of print media).

I can see it as a "body snatchers" theme but I do not recall this being a long running campaign!

It's her dentures speak, because dentures speak with a British accent, you know.

Maybe it's spoken with a French accent?

This Colgate toothpaste commercial is supposed to be about the girl smiling, but she barely smiles and it's so brief, I think the whole point of the commercial is blown.  Maybe the woman smiling should have been the main character.

Burger King, sincerely, fuck right the fucking fuck off with the guy who can't sing doing the jingle. It is my new most hated commercial. It makes me dive for the remote even faster than the abused dogs. And I actually say "lalalala" while reaching so I don't have to hear it long enough to change channels. If I had a choice between starving to death and eating at Burger King now, I would burn the Burger King down and rejoice in the silence.

Who knows? Maybe. But that seems like it may alienate a big chunk of older people who also buy phones, haha!

ETA: Looks like you’re onto something:

"With the Z Series, we are adopting a new naming convention for our foldable portfolio that shows our commitment to expanding the category to offer a variety of experience. We chose 'Z' for this series because it intuitively communicates the idea of a fold while delivering a dynamic, youthful feel."

Ugh! Me too! Did some lyricist from Tin Pan Alley come back from the dead to write the jingle? "Jardiance is really swell. The little pill with the big story to tell."

I read recently that some new parents are taking inspiration for baby names from popular pharmaceutical commercials.   "Jardiance," apparently, is increasingly popular as a name for baby girls, while "Ozempic" (Ozzy for short?) is finding many fans among parents of boys.   Boys and girls alike have been christened "Skyrizi" while more than a few young lads will grow up being called "Dovato."  No word yet on whether there will be little Prevagens or Entyvios appearing on kindergarten attendance sheets four or five years from now.

yet another annoying balance of nature ad. "I'm 60 but after taking balance of nature I feel the energy level of 27."

That is oddly specific. I'm 62 and I really couldn't tell you the difference between my energy level at 22, 25, 27, 31... (ok 32 I had a newborn, so things changed then).

https://www.ispot.tv/ad/1c9v/balance-of-nature-caroline

These Balance of Nature commercials are full of "I feel" statements instead of actual research or facts.  Can't sue us for bs, we ran this spot by our sleazy lawyers first!

Same here, except the girl's name was Charmin.

You know that guy who runs his dishwasher every day? We've had discussions about the amount of dirty dishes after his "light snack" (which I'm too lazy to go back & look for to quote) but I wasn't watching, I was only listening a few days ago and I swear he said, "BIG snack."  When it came on again, I paid attention - he does say "big," not "light."  So, while the commercial is still stupid and annoying, the amount of dishes after his snack isn't all that egregious as we once thought.

The Safelite commercial where the parents of an infant are upset at their cracked windshield because they need their car because it is the only way they can get the baby to sleep...are you serious??!! Every night the two of them drive around until the baby is sleeping then get the baby out of the car and in to the crib (without waking up), every night? This is why kids are getting trophy's for showing up! How have parents gotten so lazy about getting a baby to sleep?

Our oldest grandson went through a phase where it took either a walk in his stroller or a car ride to get him to sleep. It's not lazy, you're just getting everyone peace and quiet and a good night's sleep. He grew out of it.

^ yeah, I'm over the "participation trophy" comments (which the previous poster implied). Let's give parents a break. I doubt this is their first choice for getting the baby to sleep. I had a colicky baby, very bad in the afternoon, so I took long walks every afternoon with her strapped to my chest. You do what you have to do.

I would think lazy would be more along the lines of getting noise cancelling headphones and not worrying at all about the baby.

This may be super nitpicky of me, but there's a Jersey-centric ad I hear during podcasts -- it's about flood insurance. It says something about "protecting your property" by buying this insurance. But -- and again, maybe I am being overly critical (perhaps because I have seen floods trash my BF's old house repeatedly) -- the coverage doesn't protect property so much as it protects, I guess, one's finances. Your property is still wrecked.

Idk, apparently I had to be walked around and around the house until 11pm before my parents could get me to go to sleep.  You do what you gotta do.  And I imagine it's hard to drive with the windshield cracked.  Maybe they could try singing the Jardiance jingle to the baby?  (And damn it, that stupid song is in my head again.  Thanks y'all.)

I don't even have that many parents in my circle, yet I've heard numerous stories over many years about babies going through phases where a car ride is the only thing that will get them to fall - and stay - asleep.  I've seen it in several TV shows as well.

I cannot get to the remote quickly enough to hit Mute when that Haribo gummy bear commercial comes on when the adults talk like little kids.  I hate it with a passion and it plays SO OFTEN every day, seemingly every channel.  Haribo must have a ton of money to spend on advertising time, though it's been the same blasted commercial for a few years so they save $ on new ads and any bit of creativity where I'd actually watch the ad.  Who needs a frequent reminder to buy gummy bears?

My problem with the commercial is there is nothing wrong with the windshield that would keep them from using the car. It's not shattered. It's a small little crack. On the passenger side. Nothing wrong with it that couldn't wait til tomorrow. Or longer. I drove with a huge honking crack down the middle of the windshield for years. Couldn't afford to get it fixed.

How do they get it replaced for free is what I always want to know.

And they all look so surprised when they go to the car and see a crack of star. Why? Didn't you see or hear whatever rock or whatever it was smack your windshield?  It didn't happen in the driveway or parking lot.

What I don't understand is, I've never been in a Dollar Tree where at least half the candy section wasn't Haribo crap. Where do they get the money to show their commercials constantly when they're a dollar store darling?

Homeaglow - we'll clean your entire house for $19. I know it's been mentioned before, but it airs so often I want to complain about it again. If you're only listening, you don't see it's an introductory offer. Do my laundry? No thanks. I'm particular about laundry and would never trust a cleaning service to do it. I've used a cleaning service for over 30 years. I don't know what their real price is after the introductory offer and am so annoyed by the ad I won't even check them out.

The one I heard was a white, southern American - probably the demographic for the commercials. Charmin was about 7 at the time.

It seems like everyday there's a new commercial for Balance of Nature featuring someone who's been taking it for as long as a quarter of a century. While I think this is such BS that I'd like to order it and be able to debunk their claims this stuff is too expensive to waste money on.

And quite frankly I'd be afraid of the side effects. Taking all kinds of ground up fruits and vegetables packed into a capsule makes me think of all kinds of gastric backlash
