Just when I thought I couldn't dislike the "Phyllis" character more.  To me, Gina T was a welcome relief from Michelle S.

I always liked MS as Phyllis in her orignal run and when she returned. She played Phyllis balls to the wall but her last 2 years were tiresome. She has this acting tick (she does it on GH, too) where she gets inches away from the scene partner and mugs her face in to there's. She was also famous for repeating her lines or they were written that way. Either way, it was annoying. It was always, “You...You.....don’t....know...what....what......Jack said.......”. I’m curious who’ll she be paired with because I’m sure she had some stipulations with her return. She loved working with JM & PB. I’ll watch to be annoyed all over again. I like GT. She was great as Dinah but she was never Phyllis to me. It’s kind of a bummer to get got pushed out. Who’s next?

Well, that could be good news for PB/Jack. Phyllis would have to do a lot of groveling but I could see them getting back together. And she'd be age-appropriate. I have a hard time seeing the MS version of Phyllis with JT's Billy though.

DeSORASing Phyllis so much was a mistake. Sorry, not sorry, GT. Hopefully they'll keep MS from trying to eat the show again.

Course Charlotte Ross is my first choice but she's never coming back.

I feel like GT's run as Phyllis is a textbook example of how excessive brown-nosing can blow up in your face. It's odd because she's been in soaps long enough to know that getting too aligned with a particular regime is generally not a winning career move, especially as daytime soaps are fading. Surely she didn't think her buddy Mal would be in charge forever.

Now I'm wondering how much of the promotion of Philly and then later the attempted designation of Phick as a "new" supercouple was at GT's behest. Once Mal had one foot out the door it all fell apart pretty easily.

Yep, it’s strange a seasoned and veteran actress ended up not really understanding how soaps work. She clearly got extremely cocky once Sally was fired. In her mind, she “won.”

Every time the show attempted Villy, she would go on social media and RT and like tweets insulting the pairing, Amelia, and JT/Amelia’s chemistry. Oh, my favorite was when she liked tweets that Victoria, Sharon, Nikki were the past and the lead should be Queen Phyllis.

Well that's unfortunate.  Not that I'll miss GT's version of Phyllis, but I can't stand MS's acteen.  She was the last straw for me when it came to GH, though I had largely given up on that show by the time she arrived. 

Anyway, like miamama, I'd be fine with no Phyllis at all.

She never made  me love Phyllis.. I love how MS gets the boards chatting,.. they have been on fire since the news got out. This GT mess isn’t about Stafford or JG or vets. 

Flashback two years ago: Sally Sussman does an interview saying Philly is done. Storyline made them “unlikeable.” Within 24 hours Gina tweets “people love (heart emoji) Philly” linking an SOD or SID poll that showed support. She proceeded to regularly tweet and retweet Philly stans who said they were the greatest romcom hottest pair EVER and we hate Villy and Phack. (She did this before Sally’s interview but upped the volume now.) This encouraged the Philly stans who openly trashed Sally, Amelia (Villy was happening onscreen) and howled that PB was old and should play Gina’s dad. I was confused at how Gina KEPT pushing Philly on social media (selfies with JT, hashtag #PHILLY, once tweeting a promo of a Villy kiss with a rolling eyes emoji) WHILE HER HW STATED PHILLY IS DEAD. Like wtf is going on, right?

Somehow Gina KNEW Philly was happening and that the HW had no power over her or anyone. Hmmm

Ok so while Sally is trying to redeem Billy with Villy, Philly is kept alive with longing looks every once in awhile. JT acts sexless with Amelia. 

Eight months later: Boom! Sally is out, (Mal becomes HW as well as EP now) does a groveling interview DISAVOWING THAT INTERVIEW THAT TRASHED PHILLY as though someone is holding a gun to her head.

Mal’s first show as HW reunites Philly, ends Villy, makes Jack forgive Billy and basically and heretofore becomes Philly’s support and DAD figure. The Gina Tognoni Hour featuring Philly is born.

JG/Morina come on and immediately Phyllis is trashed onscreen. Philly is destroyed. Phyllis is OUT at Jabot. Billy is weak sauce, loves Victoria again, calls Phyllis GARBAGE.

Mal is trash. He maneuvered to oust Sally. Gina OPENLY helped with her social media behaviour (and who knows what BTS).

Tony Morina, the new EP, is Sally’s HUSBAND y’all. 

Gina is publicly humiliated (no chance to say her choice to leave) with a leaked story THAT MS is back. Not a big exit story for Gina. Not “oh darn we lost Queen Emmy Gina and are forced to take back repeateen Jazz Hands.” Nope. Gina is FIRED and we’ll take an MS who will be contrite (because Josh Griffith has let her go before when she sulked onscreen and GH was a fail). I would hope she’s not as stupid as Gina. 

Gina who kept pimping Philly, up to last week. She trashed Phick a few weeks ago (felt “forced with JM”, just physical with Phick).

Like who DOES THAT?????

She’s no victim here.

Back in the Television Without Pity days I referred to her as "Rainman Phyllis" because of her constant insertion of "definitely."  "I am definitely hawt.  Definitely definitely hawt."  Gina certainly isn't perfect, but I'm not happy about this recast at all.

Me too.  I was hoping with the regime change we might actually have a NO Phyllis zone.  Other characters with just as much history to Show have gone away and what's left for Phyllis that she hasn't overacted through already, sometimes twice?

Daniel's gone, his only tie other than his mother, Heather, a peripheral character only tied to the canvas through a recurring one.  And then there's Dummer......who could disappear completely and I wouldn't miss her.  (Need another Newman grandchild?  BRING BACK NOAH).  Besides, that character is a Newman, no Phyllis needed.

She's a character I never liked, mostly due to the actor and while GT was better for a while, her pairing with ButtBiscuit ended that brief golden hour.  Or do I mean shower?  

And now MS is back.  So the choice is, would I rather have a gastic upset or a pounding headache?  Thanks, Show.

ms wasn't happy being part of the phack coupling tho..i believe that's one of the reason's she wanted to leave in the first place...

i can definitely see her pushing for phick again tho...what a nauseating thought.

She may not be coming back with the same level of clout she once had at Y&R. Plus, we don't know who wanted the return deal more, her or TPTB. If it was her, TPTB have the upper hand and don't have to care about whether she wants Phack or not.

Phyllis served Nikki up for what was effectively a life sentence, and also sent Nick's sister and other baby mama to prison. I don't see Nick forgiving Phyllis any time soon. She'd have her work cut out for her on the most easily expected romantic fronts: Nick, Jack, and Billy. Oh hai, NuAdam.  You up for a little cougar action? 🙂 I could see Nate as a possibility too since Phyllis has already proven to be down with the swirl. 🙂

I didn't like the Phyllis and Billy hour constantly mostly because of him. GT is a fine actress but to me JT brought her down. Aligning herself with Mal was only going to work while he was in charge. GT is the only Phyllis I've known so now I will see the MS everyone else knows as the "real" Phyllis.

Yikes remember those???? ugh. I'm hoping MS behaves differently this time. She's in a way different situation. I'm sure she's taken a huge pay cut to come back. She knows she's expendable. She's now fully into her 50s (can't say late 40s) and though she looks great for her age, no way can she pretend she's a little sex kitten. I honestly think show said, "This is the deal: you want back, you play what we write respectfully and professionally or you're out." There is no way she was in a position of power. They don't need this character. Soaps are dying; at her age she's not going anywhere else. She is a single mom of two very young children she has to support.

As I said above this is about Gina's situation more than MS. Show didn't go after a suddenly free Michelle because she's so awesome.

I think JT should be worried. JFP hired him after sending BM packing. JFP fired Stafford. Josh Griffith was extremely unhappy working for Phelps when he left. I think he almost had a breakdown or something.

I am curious who Michelle Stafford will be paired with. IIRC she was tired of Jack & Phyllis. She loved working with Josh Morrow and he did as well. Of course, GT was in the Billy zone for a few years but I don’t see her being paired with JT. Luckily (if you’re happy about the return) we’ll know soon. Thank god it’s not like Days taping schedule. LOL!! We should know in a month or two, right? Although, GT was technically fired so it might be sooner since they didn’t need to wait till her current contract ended. MS couldn’t come to terms with GH on salary/storyline so I guess CBS/Sony/Y&R was able to meet her demands or she was just plain desperate for a job. Who knows?

IF THIS IS TRUE, i hope joshy poo suffers from a horrible case of jock itch that only gets worse and worse.

i went back and decided to look at the video..  it is just someone talking about what happens so i don't have any idea if it is true or not..

also, the person talking says that mia had to do something soon to either get pregnant or have a fake miscarriage and she decides to fall and blame sharon.

however, i wouldn't put it past josh to do it.

OMG Yessssss!!!! I feel bad but GT was NOT Phyllis!!! I almost feel a little bit of karma being served up here when you think about how she was rumored to be controlling/involved in every single story line for the last two years! I didn’t watch for a long time, but I had a hard time mustering up even the tinyest bit of sympathy for the character, ever! I also forgot all about Daniel too, I loved that kid....where isn’t he supposed to be?

I’ve never been a fan of GT as Phyllis and have made that clear many times on this site. So no one is happier than I am that she’s gone, gone, gone! I also wasn’t a fan of MS as Phyllis so I’ll have to wait and see if she annoys the holy living crap out of me like GT did. I have to say that I’m surprised at this sudden change of course on Y&R. I know that the hated MAL is gone (thank goodness) but the changes over all are kind of whip lashing. At any rate, I hope that Jack finally gets his due with his job at Jabot and a lovely, kind, respectful lady as his life partner. He deserves it and there’s nothing better than PB in a tuxedo!!
